My goto fantasy skirmish is Song of Blades and Heroes, but it may not be what you are looking for, as SoBaH is very simplistic, but very flexible.

SoBaH really has no figures. It's one of those systems where you can use whatever figures, and you create their stats yourself. I like it because I can use the minis I have and get into some narrative scenarios. The books are cheap on amazon or their homepage. Here is an older version PDF, but it gives you an idea how the game plays. Again it's very simple, but it works for fantasy and with small skirmishers. It's a pretty fast and fun little game.

While it doesn't actually look that similar to Confrontation, I think that the rules themselves look pretty cool. I will give this a shot with what I have laying around, thanks anon.
