Huge Lanterns edition

Old Thread: >>50721057

Kingdom Death is a game about living Adonis-like statues in hell that try to stay alive through killing walking body fetish horrors and wearing them as pants and hats. Ultimately they create a culture and learn a little about their existence, but then get eaten by a flashlight obsessed ghost.

So far the witches have mostly been pinup-eriffic but that doesn't mean they won't get rules in the future. For the moment, Knights are the gameplay creatures (and tend to be Big Bads of their tier) and the witch stuff is mostly for pin up fun.
>>
>>50733277
Check the two links I just posted, and keep in mind that there are at least two and almost certainly more new expansions yet to be revealed. Ancient Gold Lantern is certainly a great deal, especially with the early shipping time frame, but there's a lot of good deals in other pledges too.
>>
>>50733301
The witch and her deciples are the only overtly-sexy humanoids in canon right now.

Knight is a title, there are many different and different kinds of Knight.

The only witch is the Flower Witch, and she has a handful of "human" followers.

I hope they do a pinup of The Hand and make her absolutely smug as fuck. Complete smug saturation.

Nah. MALE Pinup of the Hand which is basically just shirtless Vegeta.

The only pinup for the Hand would be one of himself.

Otherwise, you're thinking of a Pinup Handmaiden.

I want the hand pinup to be the hand just posing.
>>
Here's some fucking crazy math for you guys:

Poots once said that a "100% gameplay pledge", including promos because those have gameplay, would cost more than a Satan pledge even after a bundle discount.

Ancient Gold Lantern: $750
Seven revealed new expansions: $290 total
New promos: $40 total (so far just Super Survivors)
Old promos: ~13 models, let's value it at $250 for argument's sake, probably high but approximately ballpark

1666 - 750 - 290 - 40 - 250 = $336.

There are at least $336 worth of new expansions and promos left to reveal. Probably more. Let that sink in for a bit.
>>
>>50733562
In fact we've only revealed $330 worth of new expansions + promos by that count. We aren't even halfway done. Jesus christ.
>>
>>50733562
If he releases the other 4-5 xpacs we're expecting that should easily be $200+

Also pinups of all the old monsters and some of the new ones. easily at least 5+ so that's $75.

Promos could be whatever.

But that's about what I'm expecting.
>>
>>50733594
Pinups wouldn't be included in that figure, just promos. Promos have gameplay, pinups don't. At least, that's what Poots has been saying although he then immediately contradicted that shit with the Pinups of Death II pack so... yeah.

For promos, I'm still expecting a Messenger of Fashion JoJo figure. More Messengers, in general, could be really cool.

>>
>>50734086
Am I the only one who doesn't like any of the armor set images they've shown recently? Not the Frogdog ones, not the Oblivion Mosquito ones, and not the Gryphon ones. I don't even think it's because I dislike the design, I think I just do not like that art style / presentation. They all look exactly the same to me. It's real disappointing to look at. Just a bunch of variations on "cloth armor with WoW shoulderpads".

>>

Yea the new armour sets look like trash. Whatever, they're not included in the xpac so the people who want trash you pay extra for it.
>>
>>50733384
>Apotheosis
>not overtly pinupperrific and perfect in every way.
>>
>>50734242

Frog dog and screaming god were both great, IMO.
>>
>>50734436
The Screaming God armor looked great, but it was a different style and different artist. I'd be willing to bet, personally, that if the same artist did the Screaming God armor as did the others I would hate it too. It's just really boring and uninspiring.

At this point I'm just bitching for the sake of bitching, but it's something I noticed.
>>
>>50734242

I think its just the art style, but you are right that the newer stuff seems a bit too... overdesigned.

The mosquito armor looks cool, at least, if only because of the mirror faces. Gonna put FOIL on that shit.

>not worth the cost but good if you can get it black friday or through the ks
Lion God
>completionist bait
Wojack Tree, Green Armor
>>
>>50734872
Great: Gorm, Dragon King, Dung Beetle Knight
Good: Sunstalker, Flower Knight, Manhunter
OK: Lion Knight, Spidicules, Slenderman
Bad: Lonely Tree, Lion God, Green Knight Armor

These are also sorted by value. The OK and even the Bad ones aren't actually terrible, they just don't give as much content as the ones above.
>>
>>50734975
Doesn't Lion Knight come with role survivors as well as Lion Knight Armor survivors?
>>
>>50735006
Nemeses don't have armor. He just comes with Role Survivors. And those are nice, but that's not really what I meant by value -- by that I meant gameplay value, the 'breadth' of play that the expansion effects.

The Manhunter vs. Lion Knight question is a monster of a question. The two play very similar roles in a campaign and really aren't usable in the same campaign unless you're very masochistic. Manhunter is mean as hell and just fucking kicks you while you're down constantly, while Lion Knight is a little more lighthearted and helps you out as well.

It really comes down to what you would prefer: a goofy lion who shows up at your settlement and wants to put on plays and helps as much as he hurts, or a savage bastard who just wants to kidnap people and drive you into the dirt.
>>
>>50735062
>Nemeses don't have armor. He just comes with Role Survivors.
Thanks, I haven't played any of the expacs.
>>
>>50735154
I hope this isn't confusing, but you can still get armor from Nemeses. They also have gear that can be attached to the ~120 figures you get from the main game.

People are mad about this? This is a fucking glowing review.

His only complaint is that the format is unnecessarily messy and crowded, and that having to replay it from the top can be boring. Honestly, I'm not sure why he says he can't recommend it. Nearly everything he talked about was "hey if you like this kind of thing you'll love it but if you don't you probably won't care one way or the other"

All the shit about how everything is against you and this is a game where cascade failure is in full force like Darkest Dungeon or Xcom is exactly what I love about it. It's part of that new doom and gloom "you aren't meant to win you're meant to have fun losing" genra that cropped up recently. And even if fighting the white lion for the hundredth fucking time gets kind of repetitive, dude even admits that the randomness and learning as you play keeps things fresh despite that. Unless of corse you want to waste your time making the game less interesting by reading through every possible scenario, in the same way you replay a mission in xcom over and over until you get it right.

... I've been replaying xcom lately.

Basically Stephen King's the Thing. Fight a nemesis monster, but, at the end of the fight, one of the survivors is randomly/secretly infected and becomes the new Thing. The for the duration of the game and until the Thing is permanently killed, settlement has to figure out who it is or it infects the rest.

>>50740533

I feel like the gambler works better as a settlement event. He shows up, challenges the settlement to a game, and you play for keeps.

You have to bet something to play, and the more you bet the more you win/lose based on a simple game of 'roll higher than me'.

Bet a piece of gear? Lose it or get some basic resources.

Bet a survivor's life? they die or they learn a (secret?) fighting art

Bet three lives? They all die, or you get a piece of rare gear.

That sort of thing.

You play until you stop playing or you lose, and then the Gambler leaves.

Triglaw.

Comes from old Slavic lore, it means Three Head(ed). Triglaw is merge of three old gods who had to join forces as the faith in the old way waned. The heads / personalities are at odds with each other - one is greedy and wicked, one is stern and noble and the last one is the judge and keeper of the old laws.

Alright I already pledged for the $300 tier. I have another $300 to spend on add ons. What do you guys think are the ones most worth?

Would I also be able to add on more add-ons after the campaign during the pledge manager?
>>
>>50740828
>Would I also be able to add on more add-ons after the campaign during the pledge manager?
The theory and general opinion is yes, there will be an opportunity to add more funds for addons during the pledge manager, but Poots is being intentionally cagey about it because he wants the numbers on the main page to go up as much as possible.

As for addons, you have to ask yourself if you want just new expansions, just old expansions, or if you're okay getting some sooner some later and paying shipping both waves. A lot of people are intentionally only pledging for one of the two expansion waves to save on shipping. From the sounds of it you've got the Black Friday Gold Lantern pledge so you'll have the Gambler's Chest showing up in wave 3 approximately ~6 months after the old expansions show up in wave 2, so you could conceivably wait for the new expansions in wave 4 and get what appear to be better deals on them. But that's up to you.

The "quality" of the new stuff is very much up in the air. You know as much as we do on that. For the old stuff, I refer to these posts:
>>50734964
>>50734975
>>
>>50740828
I'm pledging for 300 now and nothing else even if I could go up to 500. I'll take either all the expansions in a bulk deal or none at all. Even if the next bulk deal comes in 2020.

First you pay a customs charge depending on the type of goods you are receiving plus the shipping and any insurance (20% for miniatures into the UK but it varies by country).

Then You pay VAT on all goods bought in from outside the EU including the customs charge. You only pay this if the order is over £135 in the UK.

Then in the UK the post office shamelessly make you pay a "handling fee" which is essentially them charging you for having charged you vat / customs fees.

Also the customs and VAT are worked out in the currency of your receiving country but are worked out using the government's own exchange rate rather then the one you might find on XE etc.

They like to screw you in every hole they can find.

How many of the pinups have actual gameplay attached to them?

>>
>>50741812
>not sure if ruse or that bad at math
>>
>>50741431
>significant
Depends on your definition of the word "significant". There are a lot of figures which you will not be receiving. Some of those were duplicates -- for whatever reason, original backers of the game got multiple copies of certain armor kit sprues, two Phoenixes, two Watchers, and five Kingsmen. Many of the ones you would be missing are pinups figures -- sexy ladies -- with no gameplay components. Some of those you would be missing are promotional figures which originally *did not* come with gameplay but Poots has confirmed *will now have* some game content associated with them. However, Poots has confirmed that there will be a card pack available for those who already have the figures to get just the cards, and presumably those who don't have the figures and just want the gameplay could buy that. But there is absolutely no detail on the subject outside of that.
>>
>>50741945
None of the pinups or promos in the original campaign have gameplay associated with them.

So far, none of the new pinups or promos in the current campaign have gameplay advertised as being associated with them -- but I, for one, do expact the Super Survivors to get gameplay once Poots fully reveals them, because he has said that promos will now have some small gameplay features associated with them.

A good chunk of the pinups released *between* the two campaigns have some exploratory gameplay content. Percival, Fade, Before the Wall, the new repackaged White Speaker box, etc etc etc. Most of it is very small and minor and appeared to be Poots' way of experimenting with what gameplay bonuses he could put into optional content without really breaking the game. None of these figures are available for purchase in the campaign.

The Pinups of Death II box will include some quantity of gameplay in it, just like the collated Pinups of Death I box did. PoD1 had extremely tiny amounts of gameplay so I for one don't expect much out of PoD2 but you never know. Poots has said that a separate card pack with just the PoD2 cards will be available.

Finally, you've got the original campaign's promos which did not originally arrive with gameplay (actually, they had gameplay planned for them but it turned out to suck in playtesting so Poots cancelled it) but will be gaining gameplay with the new printing. Poots has said that it will be possible to buy that gameplay content separately in its own pack, like the PoD2 card pack, for those who already have the figures / who don't want to buy new figures.

Neither the original promo card pack nor the PoD2 card pack have prices or any hard detail on them other than Poots saying he wants to make them.

The thing is, on top of the VAT you're usually paying handling costs from Customs as well.

Taking the Netherlands as an example (as I live there and order KD stuff all the time), you pay 21% VAT plus €14 handling fee.

I'm working on a homebrew expansion, but I'm stuck a bit on specific wordage for some names.

The main thematic resource is "daemon silver" that forges into durable weapons, and can be reforged/recycled at a metaphysical cost.

What I'm a bit hung up on is the use of the word daemonic, where I'm intending it as the original more neutral spiritual meaning and not the more modernized evil-only like demonic. What are some other words besides daemonic or fey that may be fitting for this?

And it makes sense -- most stats/traits are acquired, the basic 'genetics' of a KDM human is +0 to all stats, Move 5, no fighting arts, disorders, Understanding, Courage, abilities, or impairments. You can kinda teach kids the weapon proficiency of a parent, and if you have the right innovations new survivors might start out with some stat boosts. But the People of the Stars get dragon traits, which can be things like, oh, scales. These can get inherited once you've got the proper Innovation, and in fact doing mad in/cross-breeding is probably necessary to really succeed in People of the Stars.

>was it confirmed yet, that if everything is shipped to the eu warehouse that we dont have to pay vat ?
You will always have to pay VAT unless Poots decides to start producing his figures in the EU. VAT applies to all imports. KD:M, coming from China, counts as an import, even if it is shipped from a warehouse in the EU.

That's the law. For a while KS companies would skip paying VAT because they thought being a crowdfunding campaign meant they weren't imports, but there's been some brushes where a couple companies got fucked massively by that and since then every campaign either makes EU customers pay their own VAT (KD, Cthulhu Wars, God's War), or subsidizes the VAT across the entire KS (Scythe) or just lies to customs and hopes they don't get caught at some point (CMoN).

Now what would be interesting was if that added encounters with the mechanized survivors to the basic hunt event deck when you lose, removing each when resolved or all when you beat the construct nemesis.

What story events does the construct add?

So, how does this sound for a homebrewed, alternate campaign to get more mileage out of the Lion God:

On LY20, instead of triggering Watched, the survivors must depart and defeat a level 1 Lion God.

On LY25, instead of the Nemesis Encounter: Watcher, the survivors must depart and defeat a level 2 Lion God.

On LY28, an additional Nemesis Encounter: Level 3 must be faced (continuing the trend for the expanded campaign).

On LY30, instead of the Nemesis Encounter: Gold Smoke Knight, the survivors must depart and defeat a level 3 Lion God.

If the survivors ever fail to defeat the Lion God their settlement is lost. However, the Lion God cannot move off the hunt board; it will stay on the Starvation space even if instructed to move back.

To those of you who have fought the Lion God, does this seem balanced or fair? I honestly have no idea how hard he is beyond the fact that people have hyped him up as the hardest encounter in the game so far.
>>
>>50747850
Also, on this note, without spoiling please, should the Silver City event be moved forward or just left at LY13?

Also considering giving the thing +2 Basic Resources to its L1 and L2 hunts to match up with the revealed changes to resource distribution.

Can anyone remember what "price tier" the original Kickstarter went at for a copy of the game?

I remember it being very underpriced and I assume they probably learned their lesson this time round.

>>50747956
Maybe the ruins of the settlement the construct came from. Perhaps something that interacts with forbidden dance or drums or something. Gear could perhaps be made from the jagged protrusions which are hard like iron. People of the Impurity?

Generic minus that second head inside its head.

And the mind-control zit, and killing bigger monsters somehow instead of stealing from shepherds.

Antelope Rewards.png

So, these Antelope rewards.

It used to be monster rewards went:
4 / 4
4 / 6
4 / 8 + special resource

In comparison, these are:

+0 / +0
+2 / +1
+2 / +2

Poots said to add +1 / +1 to L2 monster rewards in general. The update specifically says that the Antelope gained "greater rewards" to make it a more appealing hunt, so it is reasonable to assume that the other monsters won't get as large of a boost.

For a generic non-antelope L3, would +1 / +2 sound reasonable? Would make 'generic' quarries give:

4 / 4
5 / 7
5 / 10 + special resource

The Antelope maintains its superiority as a monty haul monster, but the other L3 hunts become more tasty as well.

Thoughts?

Pledges meant for EU will probably be shipped from China directly to the EU hub. There will be import charges, but the same goes for the US pledges imported from China (companies that manufacture in China have normally calculated these charges into retail price). Shipping from the EU hub to the various EU countries does not incur VAT or import charges.

>Shipping from the EU hub to the various EU countries does not incur VAT or import charges.
This is false. The company has to pay VAT when they bring the product into the warehouse, and they have to pay it on the retail price of the goods. This is why Poots is passing the price onto the EU customers.

the cheapest "early black friday" deals were at a ridiculous 85$ USD.
Got mine at a early BF deal for 133 to come with extra shits, including the "Survivor" box which had even more armor sprues, a 2nd phoenix watcher and 4 kingsmen

the game went by its own at 100$ usd otherwise

A stupidly good deal

>>

Which isn't in the game.
>>
>>50751011
Not in any sexualized context. The Wet Nurse monster is just that, a wet nurse. It just brainwashes the people in the process. However, the Wet Nurse will almost never become an expansion to the game, just a entitity with lore and a model behind it.
>>
>>50751138

It needs to be. I want to collect its sliced off tits as organ resources, and create shoulder pads and helmets for female survivors. When struck they would lactate stored monster grease and aid evasion, when not increasing rolls for intimacy

>>
>>50749012
so then you are saying that all americans need to pay vat to. since it is imported from china.
>>
>>50753402
VAT is a EU law.

American import taxes are miniscule in comparison. Although, let's be honest here... they might not be for terribly long.
>>
>>50749012
>Since I don't know where you live the fastest way to find out if you have to pay VAT or not is to check which warehouse for fulfillment is closest to you - US, CA, EU, AU - and check online if your country charges VAT rates if you receive a package from the other country.
For example if you live anywhere in the EU you won't pay VAT because everything will be shipped from the EU warehouse to your place.
Also no he couldn't just confirm which countrys have to pay VAT or not, since he would have to check it for every single country and that could take some time.

>VAT is region dependent, so if your region isn't in the warehouse typography it's shipped in, additional charges may occur depending on the country.
