Shall we make the Order of Uncertainty?

I'm guessing they mostly operate in Segmentum Obscurus

Gee, OP, do ya really think we oughta?

Give them fur-lined cloaks as a standard, that way if we don't get plastic Sisters, folks can convert Sisters of Silence into Order of Uncertainty.
>>
>>50708061
I like your way of thinking
>>
>>50707892
Chamber Militant of the Ordo Chronos, they are called in to deal with escalating time emergencies this has lead to the order not existing at during certain incidents as they're temporary clipped out of space-time.

However When the issue is resolved time bends around this meaning they often both do and do not exist.

I had totally forgotten that the Inquisitorial Time Police was a thing in 40k
>>
>>50707892
all i want is just one picture of a SOB with a butch face/build.
>>
>>50708516
Why? If anything most SoB beside Superior and higher ranking are pretty much teenage girls.

You need to go for Celestians, Retribution and Seraphim for something along those line.

My best bet Retribution Squads would have what you want
>>
>>50708516
Do it yourself then? Artists don't like drawing ugly shit
>>
>>50708364
That's a very cool idea, actually. Ordo Chronos would probably remove doomed imperial units from the timeline to use as their chamber militant.
How did they make contact with the sisters in the first place?

>>50708516
A lot of the official art has butch SOBs.
Kopinsky is a special case, since he likes to use torture porn instead of ugliness.
>>
>>50710274
Maybe they've joined the Legion of the Damned, who are in turn working with the Ordo Chronos. That small number of Inquisitors has started gathering Imperials from shattered regiments, chapters, orders, etc. Now they walk the warp with the souls of their dead comrades fighting beside them to save not just the Imperium, but space time itself.
>>
>>50707892
Any uncertainty is just wishful thinking. The "plastic sisters" referenced in the WHTV episode were Sisters of Silence. SoB are squatted and you'll never hear another official reference to them again.
>>
Ordo Chronos are all dead. They just disappeared one day after doing something with time. What a surprise.

So, they're either doing their job really really badly, or really really WELL.
My theory is that they were shunted out of time by a little while, to give them the drop on things.
>>
>>50710753
Red + Purple = Oh fuck no!

They're at that awkward distance apart in they don't work as variants on the same base, nor complement each other, they simply clash, crash and burn.

Go for something in the green to yellow range (yellow's a bit questionable with the gold, try before you buy) for the fabric, or just give the finger to saturation and pick something in the black-grey-white range (probably bets not to get too close to the grey of the joints). Then pain the accents on the torso the same way as the accents on the helmet, pauldrons, etc (so gold in this case).

Before they were the Order of Uncertainty, they were the Order of the Unbroken Gate. So named because of their first service, guarding a fortress world from a seemingly endless tide of Orks, they were well-known for their resolute faith, even for Sisters, and their unflagging zeal to complete whatever mission given to them.

However, during a battle that pitted the entire Minor Order against a Lord of Change, the sisters were cast outside of time as a dying act of defiance. Though they returned a few seconds later, the sisters had wandered for a year across a span of parallel universes to return home.

They saw galaxies where the Imperium never rose, and humanity was a dwindling species enslaved by xenos; they saw galaxies where the Emperor had survived - some where he was a cruel despot, some where he was a benevolent lord. They saw galaxies that had thrived without him, where Horus had all but eliminated the memory of his father, or where other warlords had rose in his stead. They also saw galaxies that were merely fragments of worlds, spinning in a void of pure Chaos, or empty galaxies home to only dwindling embers of ship-bound life among dead husks of worlds. When they returned home, the sisters fell to their knees and wept, and their canonness bitterly lamented, for they had all lost their faith.

At that moment, a member of the Ordo Chronos approached them. He told the sisters that for all they had seen, their faith in the Emperor was not unfounded. His enemies attempted to work across time itself to destroy His work, and though they had suffered, by their experiences they had been forged into the only - perhaps the perfect - weapon to strike the foes of the Imperium across time itself.

The sisters all cheered, glad to have something to follow and believe in again once more. But the canonness decreed that their name would be the Order of Uncertainty, until the day came that they would have faith again.
>>

>>
>>50711432
>why don't artists make the things I want?
>they would if you pay them
>then they're shitty artists!

>>
>>50711315
While I'm having fun with this idea, might as well fluff out more:

>Enemies
Their major foes are the Necrons and the Eldar. The former have shown the ability to manipulate or travel through time, and the latter attempt to twist reality to fit their prophecies. Tzeentch is also a Chaos God they despise. The sisters also deal with incidents of uncomfortable warp travel - enemies that were lost to time suddenly reappearing, or horrid foes that have not been born yet being thrown into their time through the Warp.

>Recruitment and Supply

The Ordo Chronos is stringent about secrecy, but has resources to help keep the Sisters supplied with weapons and armor. Occasionally they even shunt through time to take arms and equipment that would be lost or destroyed anyway. Recruits trickle in from normal sources on occasion, but the Order of Uncertainty goes out of their way to save and adopt orphan girls into their ranks that were similarly cast through time or would have been lost to history without their intervention. Many worlds are lost, and records are uncertain; it is simple enough to save a few from a world doomed to be lost. Boys are often saved as well, but they are sent to more mundane Guard or Stormtrooper units that the Ordo Chronos uses for less demanding breeches of time.

>Why sisters and not Astartes?

For all their zeal and training, Sisters are still human women. If need be, they can take on more clandestine roles. And the Ordo Chronos has studied Space Marines, and found that the Sus-an Membrane does not react positively to shifts in time, often leaving an unconscious space marine stranded until he can be awoken. As well, Space Marines highly value independence, while the Ordo Chronos needs a chamber militant that can be kept constantly monitored and strictly controlled.
>>
>>50711452
You do know where SoB come from?

They don't say at what age, but as soon they stop growing they are thrown into power armour.

SoB do not have special implants and such that do need a scout company for them to train and get used to their implantes.

As soon the SoB recruit is ready from the Schola to wear their own power armour they get one. So it is safe to asume that around 17-23 SoB would get their power armour (I would have to actually look up when humans stop growing)

There is a small part in the Cain books where SoB turn from total murder machine to school girl when around the manly guardsmen. Cain was very surprise about till he remember most of the Schola that goes out to the world as basically child with guns. Very deadly, trained and profesional, but still basically child and teenagers
>>
>>50711509
Do all new recruits have to go through a similar experience as the originals but in a more controlled manner?

An empath recreating the experience by copy-pasting from an older sister's mind or taking a ride in a Ordo time bubble with a rest their fresh squad?
>>
>>50711496
nobody mentioned anything about payment.
but id probably pay and play for plastic sisters that didnt look like anorexic sameface BDSM fetishists. and im not talking about the corset + boob armor, that can stay
>>
>>50711563
>So it is safe to asume that around 17-23 SoB
ah okay then, when reading the word teengaer i was transfixed on around 14-16 years of age.
>>
>>50711509
In my personal head canon is that the Ordo Chronos is a mix of the x-file, delta green or men in black.

The Ordo keeps the time line safe. Making sure "history stays the same" they are myth inside the inquisition mostly due because Ordo itself erase itself from history.

Since time travel is possible to warp dickery. Part of the job the Ordo has is to keep track of this kind of situation and well recruit from the unfortunated and unwilling time travelers
>>
>>50711659
My bad, adolescent would had been more accurate, but not much more.
>>
>>50711627
Might not be a bad idea, but that assumes that Sisters would have pyskers among their ranks, so I don't think it's likely.

I think the experience of being dragged outside of time, or the knowledge that you should not exist - you should have died in a ship crash, or a planetary invasion, or what have you - will probably be enough.

>>50711673
That's a good headcanon, but not really something you can build an entire Order of sisters out of. Imagine what sort of windfall would come of having an entire minor Order of sisters to work with, instead of just the scraps and unfortunates. Even if they die off quickly or get very spread out, they wouldn't ignore that opportunity.
>>
>>50711563
>I would have to actually look up when humans stop growing
For girls, it's around 16.

There might be exceptions, I'm 25 and I still gain roughly 1cm a year.

Nonetheless, sororitas recieve the same kind of training as guard and navy officiers, commissars and stormtroopers. They don't grow up on trees. Considering the vast ressources of the ecclesiarchy, they probably have access to juvenat treatments. On the ther hand you have to take 40k combat losses rates into account.
Also, IIRC the rpg had sisters being only noviciates after leaving the schola.

>>50712008
>I think the experience of being dragged outside of time, or the knowledge that you should not exist - you should have died in a ship crash, or a planetary invasion, or what have you - will probably be enough.

The Order of Uncertaincy would work very well as a mixed order IMO. Dialogus are gonna be really useful when you need intel on your next mission half a millenium away. And the Pronatus would probably love to be able to go back in time to fetch holy relics.

>>50712113
She survived? That's great, I thought she was executed in the past after freeing Eisenhorn.
>>
>>50712054
It's not a bad idea, but I don't want to go 'where did all you zombies come from' on it.
>>
>>50708397

That's because they are utterly powerless.

The Inquisition knows that time fuckery can happen, and wants to be constantly on the look out for it so they can know when time travel is in play, but they don't have any way of dealing with it beyond what is normally available to inquisitors.

Like, they can try and catch a time traveler who is out exploring and kill him with sticks, but if he actually gets back in his time machine there is nothing the Ordos Chronos can do but pray that he doesn't go back in time and kill the Emperor.
>>
>>50712642
SInce we're talking sci-fi and time paradoxes, Asimov's The End of Eternity is a good story about time police.
They have a modus operanti of directing mankind's path from the shadows by applying only minimal effort that would be well-suited for the ordo chronos. (like misplacing a case, so someone will get angry, yell at one of his coworkers, and 500 years later space industry is in ruins)
>>
>>50712843
That is a good idea.

The Militant Chamber would be mostly tacticool SoBs? I mean you do not need a big number of operators operating to that sort of things.

Well that's not interesting in the slightest, we need wacky-but-grim shit like obsidian hooks that they throw into places where time machines have warped out from that drag them along to it's destination and also act as their anchor and only way back to there own time.

Paradox Engines that hold the fabric of the universe together for a while so acolytes can find the warp point and fix it before shit gets too fucked.

Chronomancy psykers that develop new powers after being exposed to time-travel for a while and can do shit like open a portal to absorb you las-blast that opens in front of your chest two months later while you're in the bathtub.

IIRC, they stopped time and acted while everythign else stood still in the book. Dunno if it would fit in 40k.

Anyways, since time travel is mainly based on the warp in 40k, using sisters has operatives would make sense. Less chances of daemon corruption or something going awry.
I suppose they would be even more indoctrinated than regular sisters. Hexagrammic tattoos, psychoconditionning, squad cohesion to the max, maybe some kind of minor soul binding...

Let's say environnementally sealed armor like power armor is safer for time travel, too.

And akimbo bolt pistols and gun kata, because that's one of the coolest and most overlooked features of the sororitas

Apparently time flows differently depending on where you are, so with a decent set of maps you shoud be able to make a path to the past or the future.

No need to hack anything. Just take the webway roads where time flows in reverse. It's still the immaterium, no matter how tamed. Czevak reappeared in realspace 300 younger after visiting the black library, or and people meet their past or future selves (Daemonifuge II).

It makes sense - they're not different departments like the Adeptus Astra Telepathica, or the Adeptus Administorium, or something like that. What is your "standard" investigation for Chronos acolytes?

The Time-glass has shattered in the Fando Sector, grab your chronometers and find the distortion and resolve it.

Threats including local time loops, accidental time travel, deliberate time travel, horrors from history leaking through and worst of all glitches in space-time threatening to drag huge sections of space back or even worse forward in time.

Imperial Agent has SoB rules.
Usually when a new codex comes out the old one is not valid anymore.

Except according to GW the old digital codex is still valid. GW then said it is not valid, the said it is valid, the same is true for the inquisition codex.

As a result SoB and Inqusition have their respective codex plus the Imperial Agents one. Cherry on IA, AS and Inq are all different factions. So now SoB have two codex.

Along with no plastic, and basically the same non support.

Schrödinger's Sister of Battle. Where born.

Neither dead or alive.

Codex is valid and invalid

Plastic SoB are coming and not
>>
>>50711563
>They don't say at what age, but as soon they stop growing they are thrown into power armour.

Humans stop growing at different ages because we're all quite genetically distinct

So it makes sense for them to wait until genetic or physiological markers indicate they're no longer growing before fashioning the SoB armor for them.
>>
>>50718514
>>50711563
This is the Imperium. Logic and Health are irrelevant. What they most likely do is simply administer drugs to the sisters once they reach a certain age to halt their growth. I garuntee there are 42 yr old Choir Boys who were forced to stop aging at 10 so their voices would stay pretty for singing the Emperors hymns.

This also provides justification for all your filthy perverse SoB /ss/ needs.

That is why we are making Schrödinger's Sisters of Battle. Mostly out of spite and making fun of the entire IA and SoB codex situation. If something good and funs comes out from this thread I'll be happy.

Mostly if a decent Colour scheme comes out.

I like the idea of chronostatis suits. Enemy chronomancers freeze time in an area to do their nefarious shit, so Sisters in their bubbles of time go in to kill what needs killing and undo what was done among unmoving statues of people who will never know they were there.
You see something one day you are SURE wasn't like that yesterday? Or five seconds ago? Maybe an Uncertainy Sister didn't put things back quite how they here.

Note that you cannot claim "Uncertainy Sisters moved my keys". Looking at you, Marcus Secundus. It was funny the first time.
>>
Color scheme. Golden armour. With red/purple cloaks/soft armour.

Why? When you have all the time of the world you can take the time to look good. An entire order of pimps. AKA Mistress of Time.
>>
When i look at the wholle Sisters of Battle... thing that GW has been doing for at least the last decade, i wonder why they are so dead set against marketing and selling them.

I mean, it can't be that hard to market hot chicks with guns as an army. Sure, they won't be as popular as the Spess Mehrines, but thats becasue those are the most popular. If you can make sci-fi rainbow elfs, sci-fi emo elves, and blue weedy space commies sell well enough to keep making them, then what the hell is GeeDubs problem with the Sisters?
>>
>>50723470
Honestly we have no idea why. They made Custodes, Sisters of Silence and Genestealer Cult for fuck sake an army that was dead when 3rd edition show up. They even made Necrons and Tau. At least Necron existed in the old lore, same with Kroot.
Kroot are another mystery, they could easily reprint the old Kroot Mercenaries.

Imperial Agent show that GW can simple copy pasted an entire codex and call it a day.
>>
>>50723470
>>50723523

My family died during the Macharian crusade. I'll go back and destroy him, I'll eradicate him from living memory, leave no remnant of his endeavors, crush utterly his every achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat Macharius can never recover. That is how I will save my family, that is the meaning of victory. Stop me if you dare, Inquisitor.

It doesn't help that the knight archetype is already used a lot by space marines and imperial knights currently. And the religious aspect is used in other faction, like AdMech or Black Templars.
But they still got the Hitlerjugend, Opus Dei and Joan of Arc elements as their own.
>>
>>50725520
What about swis guard like the Vatican?

Silly uniforms, but actual soldiers.

Or go full Argent Shroud. Selfless heroism and altruism. Noble space paladins. Kind of Don Quijote. Crazy yes, but they bring the noble bright in the grim darkness

>Kind of Don Quijote
We already got those before they became BDSM chainsaw wielding zealots.

The 40k equivalent of the swiss guard would be the SoB and the crusaders.

There's still the whole spectrum of wierd monastic orders and cults to explore, but the Arco-flagellants and Death Culrs are a nice start.

The Ecclesiarchy is decently sketched out when they include new fluff like they did in 2003

Isn't there a canonical reference to the Doctor showing up in some old fluff? Like they never outright said it was him but listing off the traits it becomes pretty obvious the 4th Doctor popped in for a visit

There is time travel and well 40k universe and you question that?
>>
>>50726431
I'm not sure, I know high end medical tech is WAY out there in the Imperium, it's just most people won't see it

>>50726447
You'd be surprised how young males can be and still be known to produce sperm,
>>
>>50726473
Problem is, it's the same hormones that make boys grow and gain secondary sex characteristics, and produce sperm. It's hard to have the latter without the former. And I don't think the Ecclesiarchy would be subtle about the dosage.
So possible? Yes, it's 40k, big galaxy and all that. Probable? I don't think so.
You'd have more chances for your /ss/ fetish with a planet where nobles go through tailored hormonal treatments to keep their nine years old look (while remaining fertile so the entire carste doesn't die out in a generation) just because it looks cool.

But let's go back to SoB and Ordo Chronos, I feel like we're drifting.
>>
>>50726706
Drifting? As in time and space drifting? Or Necromunda Drift?
>>
>>50726785

Yes.
>>
>>50713812
At first you get prophetic dreams and strange insights, but after a while you can enter bullet time or make very short (a few seconds) time jumps
In the end you're completely disconnected from the timeline, living events that don't follow each other. At this point they make for formidable warriors, but discussing with them is nearly impossible, as they answer questions in the wrong chronological order, or phase out mid-sentence.

>>50723779
Being a short-ranged not particularly tanky elite army is hard.
>>
So if Hereticus is the Enemy Within,
Xenos is the Enemy Without
and Malleus is the Enemy Beyond.

What is Chronos? The Enemy Outwith? That's kind of lame.
>>
>>50731493
Hereticus, Xenos and Malleus are ordo majoris, the largest and most "general" groups in the inquisition.
The rest are minoris, dealing with far more specific matters like time fuckery, misuse of the exterminatus, watching the Custodes, etc.
>>
>>50731617
Oh I know that I was trying to think up a snappy book title for the Ordo I would put in their Dark Heresy supplement.

Simply "The Enemy"

I bet they go up against Necrons as much as they fight Tzeentch fuckery. I mean, the Necrons have a lot of time-fucking technosorcery at their disposal
>>
>>50735194
And someone else has written "also necrons' in a slightly different shade of red, with a nailed on piece of wood to extend the sign.

What do people think we'll get out of a new SoB release?

I think one squad box that does everything in power armour and is pretty expensive.

Then Seraphim in a separate box with an alternative build.

Immolator may just stay as is, but Exorcist will probably get a new box with another build included.

Plastic Canoness and possibly Penitent Engines in a three man box like Killa' Kans.

I think if they have to drop something it'll be the Living Saint and Repentia. They'll probably bring them back later but not for a few years. Living Saint will probably be huge and their centrepiece model.

Space marines. Somehow, thje entire codex will mostly be about Spehss Macaroons.

They keep watch over churches and shrine-worlds, too. Add warp travel time to that, and a sister could spend years without seeng action.

Pls anon burry your wishthinking. Sisters will be squatted in the next years.
