Yukora himself doesn't do much. It's creatureless (well, gray merch and commander) the deck is filed with creature hate enchantments (think tainted aether), life gain /opponent drain, card draw, and control. Yukora only gets cast if I have no better options, and almost any mono black legendary could replace him, but something about him being in the command zone is just fun to me. Especially if I get him out t2. The deck is simple and fun to pilot.

My first thought would be to use a spell like fall of the hammer, but then I realized that even if fling targeted the creature you sacrifice, it still wouldn't work with Zada because Zada specifies that the spell must have only one target

Haven't played magic for 3 or 4 years. Thinking of jumping back in with EDH. Modern seems a little expensive, even the cheapest deck (Merfolk) is £400+. Anyway how is Olivia as a commander? I still have a foil one in my old standard deck.

i have not personally owned her but she's lowish tier. she's in rakdos colors, which isn't a good thing to start with, and she also isn't *that* strong overall. of course that doesn't matter in EDH as much since games tend to be a lot of fun when everyone plays low tier jank.

her abilities are good in creature heavy metas, but she chews through mana like crazy. she also has no innate evasion so if she actually becomes a threat, she will probably eat removal pretty soon unless you protect her. she also gets pretty funny with basilisk collar and other deathtouch enablers (not sure how many there are in rakdos)

tl;dr she is pretty unique for her colors and not totally awful, but there are better options for her gimmick. you can run a flavorful vampire tribal for her though. really depends on your meta whether she's worth running or not (she will get run over in more powerful metas)

I remember playing EDH a while back and a thought occured to me.

I had a fairly shit Thraximundar voltron/control deck (don't even ask) and generally speaking, in multiplayer I'd only use stuff if somebody was gonna win; counter their combo piece, wipe the board if somebody is going full tilt.

Pretty much. The vast majority of Nekusar decks are painfully, boringly similar; you just cram your decks with every wheel effect in your colors, and every Nekusar-like effect (Underworld Dreams, Spiteful Visions, Megrims, etc), and maybe some cheese stuff like Tainted Strike/Grafted Exoskeleton. I've seen a small handful of Nekusar decks that were interesting, but I'd say that more than 90% of the ones I've seen (both 'at a table' and 'as lists from other people' shared more than 75% of the same cards, not counting the manabase.

Why is this format so atractive to shitters? Everybody cries when you play a good deck because they play bad decks on purpose. Then they say it's unfun but nobody make them play those horrible constructed decks in first place.

i think both sides have some reasonable points, and also sometimes they are talking past each other about different situations

the edh banlist isnt really designed to handle the highest level of competitive decks, so i think its possible to have people essentially abusing the lack of effective banlist, which can be not so fun to play against

and then the other side you have people who, for whatever subjective reason, don't like to play against any infinite combos of any kind, and don't like to play against staple value cards like sylvan library or time warp either. and these people have a habit of being a bit self-righteous about FUN, which is a little unfair in my opinion. Everybody is responsible for their own fun in this game, and acting like somebody is else is wrong for having fun within the established rules of the game comes off a little immature

and then there's the budget issue, which is that magic has a significant pay to win aspect to it and there's just no way for that to not be a problem when people with vastly different budgets play against each other

yeah Concerted might have to go, doesn't do anything the turn it comes out. Extirpate has the nice utility of letting you see their hand as well as forcing a shuffle. GY-archetypes are common enough in my meta to warrant it.

So I made Gisa and Geralf Zambo tribal, and it's pretty __fun.

Didn't realise how nasty Ravens Crime could be with a hand full of land + Waste Not out.
