Ghoran are canonically delicious.

So tasty you get bonuses to bite them.

I said I'd do it so I did it: A Magus that doesn't have spells, but instead has an Inspiration and Panache pool. It's a WIP and missing a bunch of shit (like properly worded text), but fuck it, I've been hammering away off and on. Light it up famalams.

>Bring Human Chosen One Paladin/Destined Urban Primalist Bloodrager to game
>my saves are through the fucking roof at level 8 (where we start)
>Fort: +23 (+27 against spells/SLA/SU)
>Ref: +22 (+26 against spells/SLA/SU)
>Will: +23 (+27 against spells/SLA/SU)

I'm currently getting bonuses to saves from the following:
>human alternate racial
>destined luck bonus (w/ fate's favored)
>divine grace
>familiar
>bloodrage (increases stats & gives will save bonus)
>superstitious
>base saves
>trait for will/fort
>cloak
>ioun stone

so I have morale/insight/luck/racial/trait/resistance/untyped cha/untyped familiar to saves

What I need from here is Sacred & Profane. I am thinking I can probably get sacred from a deific obedience. Does anyone know what deific obediences give a sacred bonus to saves.

Also does anyone know anything to get competence or circumstance bonus to saves?

As well at this point rerolls become important as rolling 1s becomes a significant threat. I'm a human, so defiant luck is an option. For two feats I can reroll nat 1s three times per day.

What would be a decent character concept to face a darklands campaign? I've been reading Intro to the Darklands and since everything seems extra dangerous plus resources are scarce, I'm thinking about going for a Dwarf Druid focused on earth elements or Cave Druid. Can I get some tips about playing this kind of campaign?
>>
>>50696328
IIRC there's a cavalier order that lets you reroll Will saves.
>>
>>50696328
you said many words in this post

what's your character's motivation?
>>
>>50696348
Destined bloodline & Chosen One actually go together rather well.

I am using Primalist only for superstitious, which is predicated on growing up in a magocracy where the citizenry was abused by the rulers. Urban because I grew up in said city. Became a chosen one paladin after receiving and being educated by a familiar (the familiar showed up and began teaching my character).

The defiant Luck + Lucky go with chosen one/destined as a sort of Fate/Luck theme.

>>
>>50696387
>>50696413
The trait in question is Carefully Hidden, which I have to protect myself against divination from said magocracy. My character now works against that government to bring down the corrupt despots that abuse the people.

The fort trait is for being poor and growing up essentially eating garbage.

Alright, hear me out, /tg/.

Catfolk. Oracle (Black Blooded, Psychic Searcher) | Unchained Rogue (Heister). Background story of having been a heister specializing in museums and Cursed Antiquities, stealing them to sell to the highest bidder, up until they just weren't careful enough and ended up cursed with the chill of Black Blood for their efforts; between that and the job going tits-up, running away from whereever they were based out of (Osirion, maybe?) and trying to find a cure. And someone to cuddle because they are always so, so cold.

My question is, will this still be viable mechanically with black blooded's -4 to all dexterity-based skill rolls? What if I spend all my feats on the +2 to 2 skills for dex-based skills and skill focus in them to bring them back up to par?

Oh my gosh I love these! I love them! It'd be the easiest thing in the world to explain his connection to Montlarion Jeggare, if I so felt a need to make him head to Korvosa.

No no, I got it! I got it! He's got a vested interest in securing exclusive caravan rights to the Path of Aganhei, and has been negotiating with Sandru for quite some time now on funding an expedition, deciding to settle the matter over drinks at the Rusty Dragon during the Sandpoint Festival.

Ooh, this is going to be practically a semi-religious experience for him, over half of the campaign travels over that glory-soaked trade route!

Also also, him basically going Ornstein with the armor makes perfect sense given his time spent in Druma; Gilded armor studded with rubies isn't exactly out of place for their types, and lions would certainly be heraldry he can appreciate!

>>50696693

For what it's worth, I'm not actually going to make him a slave. He got Shanghai'd onto a pirate ship and was promptly rescued by the Chelish navy after a few months at sea, and from there I think he'd recognize his miserable condition in Avistan before finding himself in Druma... Question then is, how do I make him good friends with that old man besides just saying, "he befriended someone?" I'll figure it out!

Here have some stuff i found

Profession (Cooking)

You are skilled at preparing exceptionally nourishing meals.

Check: Preparing a meal has a DC of 10 (for a decent meal), 20 (good meal), 30 (extraordinary meal), or 40 (legendary meal). You need ingredients, and a suitable kitchen or equivalent work space. Without a proper kitchen, you take -4 on your cooking check. Cooking without ingredients is impossible.

Decent Meal: Pretty standard fare. A decent meal grants the nourished condition

Good Meal: A good meal, the kind you could expect to find in a particularly expensive restaurant or luxurious inn. In addition to the effects of the nourished condition, a good meal grants a +1 circumstance bonus on fort saves for the condition's duration.

Extraordinary Meal: An incredible meal, the like of which most people will experience only rarely, unless they are quite wealthy. In addition to the effects of a good meal, an extraordinary meal grants 1d8 temporary hit points.

Legendary Meal: A meal of legendary quality. As word gets around of your skill, kings will fight to have you in their kitchens, and beings from other planes will seek you out to experience your masterful creations. A legendary meal grants the nourished condition, as well as a +2 circumstance bonus to all saves, and d8 + (Cook's HD) temporary hit points. Such a meal is so good that creatures who taste it can't bear the thought of dying without tasting it again.

Action: Preparing a meal takes one hour, although a particularly intricate or important meal may take longer, at the GM's discretion.

Try Again: Yes, but every time you prepare a meal any ingredients used are consumed.

Maybe your character has a personal item which Jeggare takes a fancy to. You need money to get on your feet, so when he tries to buy it you counter-offer with a bet: he fronts you the money to start your business and if you can't repay with interest he takes the item. Of course you win, but that's the start of a great friendship/partnership.

Part 2,

Nourished

A nourished character can run as if she possessed the Run feat, and is granted a +1 circumstance bonus to Strength and Dexterity based checks, as well as a +4 circumstance bonus vs effects that cause fatigue or exhaustion. Becoming fatigued or doing anything that would cause fatigue removes this condition. Otherwise, it fades after one hour.
Ingredients

Basic Ingredients: The bare necessities required to create a meal. Price: 1s. Weight: 1/4 lbs.

Extravagant Ingredients: Very extravagant ingredients. Grant a +2 circumstance bonus to a Profession (Cooking) check made to create a meal. Price: 15g. Weight: 1/4 lbs.

Legendary Ingredients: Incredibly hard to find ingredients, of legendary quality. Grant a +5 circumstance bonus to a Profession (Cooking) check made to create a meal. Price: 500g. Weight: 1/4 lbs.
Tools

Cooking Kit: Basic tools required to cook a meal. Price: 5g. Weight: 5 lbs.

Kitchen: This kitchen is used for cooking, and provides a +2 circumstance bonus on Profession (Cooking) checks. It does not provide any ingredients. Without this kitchen, a character with the Profession (Cooking) skill is assumed to have enough tools to use the skill but not enough to get the +2 bonus that the kitchen provides. Price: 200g. Weight: 40 lbs.
>>

I'm looking into making a character that has Perform (Oratory) for Versatile Performance, Inspiration+Expanded Inspiration, Zenith strikes, and later, Scarlet Perseverance. However, there's some questions that are cropping up that I'm not sure how to answer.

How does Oration help you gauge if some one is lying to you?
Fluffwise, how does Oration work with Zenith Strikes/Scarlet Perseverance? Am I just so good at shouting that it catches them off-guard/wills away the effect?
Mechanically, does the combo of (Expanded) Inspiration, Versatile Performance, and Rising Zenith Strike work? Is it 1d20+1d6+ranks+CHA? I'd assume it does work, since Inspiration adds to checks, Versatile Performance just subs the Perform bonus for the bonus of other skills with no mention of "checks", and Zenith Strikes work of off "Sense Motive checks".
Also how do weapon enhancements/masterwork and Power Attack work with Zeniths? What all from a normal attack roll gets added to the Sense Motive check?

Right.

First: Top ranks in survival, dungeoneering, and put at least some in climb, and swim. Ger a Boarding Axe for that +2 circumstance bonus to climb checks.

Take plenty of water and rations. Take a time piece if you can afford one - pocketwatches are a thing in Golarion. Take an everburnign torch - sometimes you need light to read by, and you can always cover it up. Tracvel light, travel fast. Common monsters all have blindsight or tremorsense, so don't concern yourself with stealth as much until you get to underground civilizations. Bugs have aots of edible meat. Remember that darkvision is colorless, so you won't be able to read anything that isn't carved, so if you have scrolls, make them an alternate type or have read magic prepared always. Laple your posion vials with scratches or carved lead glass vials/steel vials with imprints. Water is precious. Don't waste it.

Good luck.

Well the character has personally has never been to the region, he learned about the technique from some rare books and would eventually go off to find a teacher in Kalsgarde who I would heavily imply was an Oni and would be fun.

I just wanted some plot hooks that would actually be kinda relevant. Which is difficult if your character isn't Ulfen or Tian-min.

Blonde Tien are not really a thing, they're almost universally black haired with a smattering of red.

The most diverse group of Tien are the Tian-Min, and their diversity is exclusively how their eyes can range from brown to blue to green.

Blondes are not a thing in Tian Xia, and neither are African blacks or quite a few other things. It's an incredibly insular, traditional continent.

What, like a platinum blonde or silver? Same thing, I suppose. Brilliant, golden hair is not a thing over there, and the extreme few who do...

Look, this is a continent that literally calls it's main land route city "The City at the Edge of the World," this is not a continent with a lot in the way of outside dealings mostly because they don't NEED outside dealings. Their entire eastern coast leads to nowhere and the western coast is either mountains or desert. Their only interactions with society outside of Tian Xia is through Goka and the Path of Aganhei, the latter being primarily Vuldra and weirdo cosmopolitanism and the former only seeing maybe a dozen caravans a year.

This is not a continent you just "go" to, its a journey.

You know what might be cute? A gruff Ulfen Sealord retired in Sandpoint with his exotic Tian wife, who turns out to be a Kitsune from Minkai that made the travel to Avistan following the Amatatsu caravan.

It would be a duo app of course, with one side being the big buff protector and the other the magical charmer! No idea on who would be what, but I'm kind of falling in love with the concept of one side of the relationship being an expert on Books 2-3 of Jade Regent, but once we enter that continent it's the wife's time to shine!
>>
>>50698615

To be honest, Dawnflower Anchorite isn't a bad PrC, if you take the Credence that lets you advance a class feature from the class you qualified in it, and losing a single caster level isn't the worst thing to ever happen. (especially with the two feats that let you get it back)

Off the top of my head, Animal Companion, Bane, Blessings, Sacred Weapon, and Wild Shape would all be good options. That means your best bet for entering it is gonna be a Hunter/Druid, an Inquisitor (maybe Sacred Huntsmaster to progress both Animal Companion and Bane?), or a Warpriest (trade out Sacred Armor though because no one cares about it and you can't advance it with Dawnflower Anchorite)
>>

However, you need Endurance and Toughness to qualify for it, which basically means you need to dip into the Unbreakable Fighter if you want to save on feats and get you proficiencies. My guess is that you could continue on with Slayer for seven levels in order to get Studied Target as a move/swift action (saves you on action economy), a pair of ranger combat style feats, 2d6 sneak attack, and Stalker, which makes you a bit more face-y. Then you take this PrC for however long you want.

... that is strange and alien to me. I always end up being "the range guy" with everyone else talking about their 10' reach like it was in light-seconds.

Okay. First, it's easy to do; you can just choose to split your mindblade into two. What you do need is Full Enhancement or its equivalents, which will keep your bonus full despite splitting into multiple weapons.

This means that the majority of archetypes are open to you; warsouls, augmented blades, brutality blades; even living-legend that makes sure to always pick the trickster form as one of its two roles can pull it off with ease. A Xephyr Knife might be a good start; Xephyr have their own TWF racial alternate class features in ult-psi.

You may want to consider Improved Psychic Strike and Dual-Imbuement (and obviously Powerful Strikes), Telekinetic Athleticism, Psychokinetic Blast, Psychic Platform, and Twin-Strike. You'll also want critical or deadly imbue (free psy-strike recovery on certain actions).

Those first few in particular let you imbue both your weapons with your psy-strike at -1 die each (powerful strikes gets the die back) and improved psy-strike lets their damage apply to every attack with that weapon... You get where that's going.

She's a warlord|hedgewitch with stuff like the fate and divination spheres, a sleeping goddess dip, and maybe illusion or mind for a kitsune-y magic feel. I wanted her magic to feel not quite so normally "divine" fate+that movement level 1 sleepy g stance kinda feel right. Other than that it's a lot of Iaijutsu, good knowledges and social skills.

>>50699256

>>

Wait....if I am reading this feat correctly, you could make a glaive wielding magus and use spell combat with a glaive as though you were using it one handed.

Please tell me if I am not reading this correctly, because hot damn, I hope that I am.
>>
>>50699304
Take the Sensei archetype, so you can stack those precious extra performance rounds.
>>
>>50698968
Wait, does that feat let you spell combat with a glaive?
>>
>>50699369
Not if you have Deadly Agility.

Which you should, because dex build is just plain better for TWF with PoW allowed, even with prodigious TWF.
>>
>>50698968

Would a devoted muse with swashbuckler or daring champion levels stack her DM levels at -3 or use her swashbuckler or DM level -3, whichever is higher?

Also, hot damn, this means a daring cavalier can get opportune parry & riposte.
>>
>>50699399
>>50699402

Yes.

You can now imbue your glaive with elemental lightning, or launch disintegration rays out of it.
>>
For We Be Goblins Too, should I have my party just arrive home to discover that their village is destroyed after getting 9/10th of the way done with the first, ignoring the ending? Or have the second bit be them going on another, minor expedition that takes a bit longer but is much less interesting, then arriving home for the hook of WBGT?
>>
>>50699402
>>50699399
It looks like you wouldn't get the two-handed damage bonus, but the build would be a dex damage magus anyways. But spell strike with a reach weapon+spell combat with a reach weapon would be the shit (and the fact that you get to short hand the glaive just makes things that much better).
>>
>>50699431
And not have to make concentration checks when using spell combat. That's the important bit.
>>
>>50698222
Give me the brewmaster senpai! Purease!
>>
>>50699455
If only spell combat didn't fuck up slashing grace.

And this is still like 4 feats to get dex to attack and damage with a glaive. Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus, Slashing Grace, Bladed Brush.

Not so fast! If 3pp is allowed you could take Scarlet Throne Style and a dip in Landsknecht (which is absurdly graceful anyway) and get full Power Attack and two-handing damage while treating it as a one-handed weapon for spell attack!

Weapon focus is a necessity for Magus. Honestly, chances are good that you'll be spending feats on exotic weapons to up your crit multiples, your crit-fishing totals, or your damage potential anyways, so 3 feats towards your combat potential isn't unusual for a magus at all.

I thought up an idea for a female character who is a healer, but can only cast healing spells while high on some kind of drug.

She would have been a local healer in a town that constantly tried to hide her drug addiction, but can't help people without being constantly strung out.

My only questions are is this a good idea for a character and why would a motherly healer with a heart of gold take drugs in the first place and discover she has magical powers?

Mechanics wise, SoP has the Addictive and Material Casting drawbacks which could work as a drug that stimulates magic.

As for why she first takes drugs, I can see a few routes. She could be a mundane healer who wanted an escape from the gruesome reality of the death she was surrounded by, or already the sort who would take drugs, and who became a healer after learning that her addiction gave her abilities.

I wouldn't do it unless you've got the approval of your table. Addiction is a tricky subject, like many others, and some people aren't going to be okay with trying it.

Yeah. be careful with what kind of background you give a character.

A lad at our table wanted to have his character be a rape victim (as in young boy raped by woman) and we found out, through the expression that came on the face of our usually cheerful as fuck buddy, that it had happened to him. (We later talked about it and confirmed that it had)
>>
>>50699665

Why does anyone start doing drugs? Stress, boredom and peer pressure. When she was in a bad place while high she discovered that special place deep inside her where the magic literally happens... Sadly, she can't ever remember how to get back to it while sober.

Drug abuse can hit anyone; good people, bad people, whoever.

Maybe she started doing drugs when she was young, dumb and easily impressionable, and although she filled out into a lovely, mature woman, she never quite kicked the habit?

My group is pretty level-headed and probably wouldn't take it too seriously. I original had the idea that the little city/town she was working in suddenly started getting more and more dark, with criminals running amok. She'd probably be a healer to some capacity before getting divine magic (Like a normal apothecary or something), and would constantly get pain in drugs. Eventually she just figured she'd try it once.

Doubt it'd have anything sinister like what you guys mentioned.

So apparently the best immortality option on Golarion as it stands is becoming the Stooge of an Eldest, according to Realms of the Fey.
Feysworn get this ability:
>Feymarked (Ex): Upon death, a feysworn is immediately resurrected and transported to a location on the First World sacred to the Eldest the feysworn worships (at the GM’s discretion, the feysworn may be reincarnated instead). From that point forward, the character is held in her living state only by the Eldest’s will. While the amount of service the Eldest demands in exchange varies, if at any point the Eldest becomes displeased enough to revoke this status, the feysworn is immediately and utterly destroyed, her soul energy permanently reabsorbed into the First World. Creatures slain in this manner cannot be resurrected short of deific intervention.

So among the population someone with a PC class is rare. Someone with a PrC is much rarer, especially a specific PrC.

To be a level 7 Heritor Knight you need to have a minimum total class level of 12.

In all likelihood in all of Golarion there are probably less than 100 level 7 Heritor Knights.

In the earlier games where it was a common feature, attacks often bounced against its hard scales, (particularly on the neck or tail) which were common hit areas with most weapons.

Which meant you were stuck between its legs trying to knock it down. It also had really buggy hitboxes on its hipcheck.

Combine that with the lower sharpness, lower damage, and much higher hitpoints of earlier versions the plesioth was a chore - it also liked to flee back to the water, and rage after every sonic bomb. It also did very high mixed water / physical damage that was hard to itemize against.

It got better in later versions, but unless you were using bows / bowguns it was always a chore, and for bows it was often just a long fight not an actually hard one (very similar to gravios actually, only black grav got hard cause of the sweeping laser).

if we're talking old ones like Freedom Unite, the old jungle's waterfall area and one of the areas in the snowy mountains (there's a rock you can gather for them) were steady sources.

It looks good, really good, which makes me sad that I would have to sacrifice so many good class features from skald to get levels in this
