It's one thing to use magic to treat physical ills such as broken bones and what not but what about the metaphysical/spiritual ills?
I'm reminded of Persona 3 where people would go into a semi-coma like state where they were nearly unreceptive and typically were made extremely nihilistic.
Why isn't this more of a thing that has to be dealt with in settings that have a lot of magic about it?

In the wheel of time removing madness was pretty damn cool, could easily link in better understanding how to see and heal madness or what have you with greater ability.

That's implying that there is a "normal" state of the mind and that it's beneficial for you.
The thing is, while deviation from the "normal" state of the body are almost always a bad thing (disregarding things like magical/technological augmentations and whatnot), deviation from the "normal" state of the mind is not necessarily bad.

Since we live in communities, there are anormal states of the mind, that disturb people's integration into said society. Which is the reason why psychiatry is a thing, and the definition of mental disorders vary from culture to culture.
And no need for quotation marks. Norms are, by definition, nothing more than a consensus.

You could probably use something like charm person to help during psychotherapy. Or to heal psychosis.

If people were consistently living to 200, the longest-living person on record would be considered an exemplar of poor aging. It's all about comparisons.
