I've been playing with an idea for a CYOA to make.
The concept is simple: a young deity came to be, and tasks you with several 'quests' to do during your everyday life.
The more quests you take part into and successfully manage through, the more you gain his favor.
From it, -after- you did your quests, you are granted boons and rewards.
The quests would range from simple slice-of-life stuff, to more complex and/or dangerous ones.

pretty much it's a CYOA that starts first with taking the hindrances and quests, and -after- getting the rewards for it.

1. Vague setting that encourages you to imagine rather than laying it out in front of you, the island is basically whatever you want it to be with the caveat that it's always dangerous

2. Simple rules that anyone can instantly understand and apply. Not as simple as "Take one per column" while not being as retarded as "Here are you five gold doubloons to spend" You choose how much you get by making it more difficult

3. No bad options in the sense that there's no retardedly underpowered or overpowered item companion vehicle or habitat, everyone might be powerful in its own way or time and viceversa

4. Incredible potential for build variety and a variety of enemies to encourage different builds rather than cookie cutter min maxing "Gotta be the strongest/fastest/smartest!"

5. No stats or bars, your power level is entirely in your head and you can be as powerful or as weak as you imagine yourself to be

6. The items aren't all offensive swords and guns, nor are the enemies all muscle bound dudes or armies that can be taken down with mundane means.

7. Most item descriptions not only tells you about the item, but also gives you a tiny hint of lore about the island, making it possible to never read a page of lore text and still understand more or less what the island is about.

Some skills might be better than others but ultimately you must choose the skills that works best for the strategy your build is going for, everyone is faced with the same limitations, dangers and trade-offs. You can take higher hunting bounties/licenses for more resources but face higher threat levels, you can be exempted from the culling event by a paying a one time fee, at the cost of reducing the total amount of resources available to you. You can choose to specialize in hunting monsters, surviving the culling, pvp arena dueling to get ready for the convergence or have a general well rounded build.

It's a great adventure cyoa by those metrics.
