Can't say I know the feel but if you're so normie, why not socialize with strangers? There are huge communities of people who play all sorts of tabletops pretty much everywhere, just ask around at your FLGS.

It's not the D&D you miss.
It's having friends that you somehow managed to attain at highschool, probably because the standards for tolerable companionship are rather low there, but fail to acquire at college where the social standard went up a not and you're falling behind.
On the flipside, you're not distracted from the study.
