Can someone explain to me how spell slots work with multiclassing, particularly if you go something like bard/sorceror, both have arcane spells, both use charisma, but different spell focus.
So in accordance with the multiclass spell table you just add them up, and you have those spells that you can cast from any tradition?

>Powerful male mage of Thay
>Gets turned into a woman, becomes bimbo barmaid

Man, Baldur's gate was awesome. This wouldn't have flied in today's SJW-infested world.

Wouldn't they just see it as social justice, that the chauvinistic male white wizard gets turned into a woman?

System...?

Ahh, the classic blunder rears it's ugly head once again.
>>

>Wizard to dumb bimbo barmaid
That's implying women have less intelligence and ambition than men. SJWs cannot handle the truth.
>>
>>50594288
Except he turns into a bimbo. The SJW's wouldn't like that. Plus the TLGBQWJSBSF would be pissy that over that as well (I don't know why, but they would be pissed over something).

5th edition.

I forgot the exact term, but it's something like narrative karma (or something like that, basically in books and stories people get their dues). The idea here is that Edwin, and I guess Thay as a society in general is pretty much the antithesis of any SJW ideology. Which for this character gets turned on its head, due to the book that turns him into a woman and all the comments from the partymembers, and eventually made permanent by Elminster, including the appearance in DA:O.

OP here, so to get back on topic.

How does that work?

How about Paladin Cleric?

No. The spell table just shows the POWER of the spells you cast.

let's say you have 3 levels in Cleric and 3 levels in Wizard.

At the beginning of your day, you will pray for a number of spells from the Cleric spell list equal to your Wisdom mod + 3. These spells must be 2nd level and lower spells.

Then you'll turn around and prepare a number of spells from your Wizard spellbook equal to Int mod +3. These spells must be 2nd level and lower spells.

Now when it comes time to CAST the spells... You have 4x 1st level slots, 3x 2nd level spell slots, and 3x 3rd level spell slots.

Because you never got high enough in any class to learn higher level spells of those classes, those 3rd level spell slots can only be used to cast the low level spells you already know. So you can cast Cure Wounds in a 3rd level slot.

And if a spell cast is not on both the Cleric/Wizard list, then you need the appropriate divine/arcane focus to cast it.

Basically what it does is ensure that while you may only know shit like Magic Missile, Cure Wounds, Bless, and With Bolt, those spells will continue to scale in power so you're not stuck doing piddly damage or buffs.

Works like >>50595538 described.

You prepare a number of Paladin spells according to your Cha mod + Paladin level. Then a number of Cleric spells equal to your Wis mod + Cleric level.

Use the multiclass guide to show how many slots you have.

When it comes time to cast the spells, you can use your holy symbol for both Paladin and Cleric spells.

Just addatively stack spell slots but they can only be used for the type they are. It has zero effect on the game since you can no longer do shit like Time Stop > Cast 8 Spells > Time Stop >Cast 8 Spells >Time Stop > Cast 8 Spells and so on.

The game functions a lot better when you realize that it's all about effectiveness per turn as opposed to if you can cast 44 slots worth of spells every 10 hours. The only real advantage is having a set of slots for Combat and an entire extra set fot Utlity but you are always at least 1 level behind all your friends and likely more as a caster so being able to cast a ton of lowbie shit is a lot shittier than being two full levels of spells ahead since the scale by a magnitue which is only more true as they add more spells in add-ons and splatbooks.
>>
>>50595427
The spells you know/can prepare are based on your individual cleric level, or whatever. Your total spell slots are based on your combined levels in spellcasting classes. (with the sole exception of warlocks, who just tack their warlock spell slots onto whatever other spell slots you have.)

With paladins and rangers, you add half your paladin levels (rounded down) to your effective level on that table in chapter 6 of the PHB when calculating spell slots. With eldritch knights and arcane tricksters, you add one-third your level (rounded down.) So a paladin 4/cleric 3 would have the spell slots of a 5th-level cleric, but only be able to prepare 2nd-level cleric spells and only know 1st-level paladin spells.

If you know Time Stop, you have at least 17 levels in wizard or sorcerer, and so multiclassing isn't really going to play a large part in how you operate.

Don't listen to this anon, OP. He is trying to explain (poorly) his wacky homebrew and not answering your question of how the rules work as written.
