Can we have a funny/comics/memes/reaction image thread?

Anything /tg/ related, tabletop jokes, whatever. Greentexts would be good. Trying to fill up my folder, my collection is outdated and tiny.

Fucking hell.

That last frame completely ruins the joke.

Why the fuck do webcomics always do that?

I like this one, it's kind of funny.

I'm really lacking any good stuff tho idk, we're just not a 'meme' sort of community so I guess I haven't saved anything good.

And again, how would anyone possibly arrest them? They would not have to comply if they did not want to, and it would be impossible to physically detain them.

Well, if it's a truly invulnerable being, we can all welcome our new alien overlord.
Or send the secret services on his trail, and strap a bomb with a dead's man switch to Pa and Ma Kent.

As usual, it depends on a ton of factors.
If he's not the only one, you' probably find some supers that accept to be on your payroll. If he's not completely invincible, you can APFSDS of AShM him. You can run a media campaign until everyone thinks he's worse than Hitler.... Give us a canvas to work with and we'll discuss how to bring him down.

>Whats so bad about them?

1. They are massively expensive and have resulted in the government gaining an absurd amount of power while the citizen loses rights under the guise of "National Security"

2. Most of the time the problems we're fighting are ones that we originally caused. Sadam was put in place by America after we overthrew their original leaders. Our meddling has done nothing but cause massive backlash almost every single time.

3. This is of course not even talking about the suffering and death of locals, because I assume you don't care if brown people die.
>>
>>50542626
>mentioning national security power grab

It's fucking true though and it's something everyone seems to just brush over when we talk about the nebulous war actions that have made up this entire fucking decade and beyond. It's all "BRING FREEDOM!" or "OH NO MUH INNOCENT BROWN PEOPLE" and never "Oh wait, the president can order the death of whoever he wants whenever he wants with complete secrecy and no oversight. Huh."

>>
>>50530682
It's just incapacity, or if you prefer, that writing is actually really difficult and takes tons of practice.

For instance, in this >>50530498 case, the artist was clearly worried that if he stopped with the penultimate panel, people (or, well. GURPS sperglords; I'm not sure they count as people) would misunderstand the joke to be a simple zinger on 3E, rather than the intended one that the genie's a useless piece of shit. That's a very justified concern with the way the comic's written up to that point, the only real problem is the artist fumbled the punchline reaction.

Try it yourself; it's not that easy. You have to write something that's telling enough to convey the point clearly (so you can't just have the guy saying "...", because then the ambiguity would remain), but not so verbose that (as happened in practice) it dissolves the joke.

I would probably have changed the lamp to a bottle with a stopper, like in The Fisherman and the Genie, and then had the last panel just showing the guy recorking the bottle.
>>
>>50542838
>starts off as the fairytale everyone knows has a happy ending
Really? Because *I* sure don't know that. Maybe that kid is a protagonist and gets a happy ending. Maybe she's destined to be one of the 30 skeletons the protagonist sees in the dungeon so they know the big bad means buisness.
>human reality kicks in the door, interferes
>what could've been nice and good if left alone is aggressively disrupted, invasive implementation of alien (ours) belief and morality system occurs
Tough shit. The started imposing when they DRUGGED AND KIDNAPED A CHILD. Oh, and roasted London after bring invited in. (said invitation extended after the child kidnapping, mind.)
>>
>>50542946
Hey, I'm not trying to justify what's happening, I'm just trying to follow author's reasoning.
>>
>>50542913
It might have worked if they'd asked the Genie to do something where "just play GURPS" isn't a valid answer.
>>
>>50542489
Look, I'm not saying there aren't worse systems than KC, but none come close to its meme status.
It's basically polish FATAL. Not as much gore in the rules, but it does have the -4 STR.
And then there's the lore, which i basically just Szyndler sperging the fuck out. Even if I omit the "Saga of Catan"(the world is literally a Catan playmap, the main plot device is someone named Natac and no one can figure out his relation to the lore for the most of the two brick-sized tomes. Also, a succesful attack made with elf's nipples, which were described, along with the naked elf over a whole page.)
even if you do that, the setting is a shitshow.

also,
>półtalerze

>>
>>50542913
>because then the ambiguity would remain), but not so verbose that (as happened in practice) it dissolves the joke.

I would juse leave it ambuguous. That way both gurpsfags and antigurpsfags can both laugh at the comic. Then, gurps spergs and antigurps can get into shit fights about the comic's true meaning on the internet and nonspergs can in turn laugh at them.

Removed one panel and trippled my audience.

>>
>>50543188
>Your president can't actually do that though, right?

Yes, they can. In fact, for a while the Obama administration was having biweekly PowerPoint meetings where he just picked people to assassinate, including American citizens.

The right wing libertarain types tried to raise a stink about it, but the liberals who normally provide the bulk of the antiwar/anti-imperialism muscle in our politics helped shut the libertarians down instead of helping because Obama was /their guy/ and I guess they expected to never loose an election again or something.

So now Donald Trump has the power to have people killed completely legally. Boy that was a strance sentence to type.

Still you do sound kinda like one of them Mall Ninjas, full of bravado and general gung ho' attitude and what have ya. Quarrelling on the net image board with some random stranger, presenting yourself like you are from some real military and not one that lost to poultry.

As your new contact leaves the tavern, you smile at how your luck has turned - finally, a safe job with a good payout. No more hordes of kobolds breathing down your neck as you struggle to retrieve an "artifact" not worth the tarnished silver it was covered with. And Marie said this man was a swindler - what did she know? As you down your drink you hear a chair squeak from the table behind you. You turn and see an old man stand up hesitantly, leaning on a cane. His ancient sailor's jacket is yellowed with age, and a single eye glances at you from behind thin, grey hair. "Look, son," he says, watching you closely, a rasping voice betraying the years. "Sometimes you put a lobster pot out and when you pull it out, it's full of lobsters. Sometimes a gross ugly shark got its head wedged in there instead." He stops and stretches, the joints in his back popping, but his eye never leaves mine. "And if you put your pot down in Sharkton Water because you can see tons of lobsters down there, maybe you should ask yourself if there's some reason not everyone does it."

I'm sorry, what? Do you have a source on that, 'cause that sounds... I don't know about the Powerpoint presentations, but the family of a moderate Imam targeted by the US tried to sue to find out why their son, a US citizen who they say had nothing to do with terrorism, was being targeted for assassination strikes.
The Obama administration's response was to shout "national security" and the judge shrugged and the case was closed. Because apparently if you say "national security" three times, the constitution magically disappears, and you have no rights anymore.

The problem is there really isn't any such thing.

The reason I hated third edition, which I figured out one day, was that it was basically Wizard of the Coast unknowingly trying to turn D&D into GURPS, and fucking it up badly. I don't like GURPS, and a fucked up D&D mutilated to resemble it is even worse.
People who want a system of complicated character builds where you can play any kind of character you can imagine, and who want to use one system for everything should really move in with the GURPS fags and leave Muh D&D alone.

It's drawn by a frog, it's got the mindset of "les fucking anglos, honh honh" and nothing else. Believe me - you DON'T want to download it. And it's all in Polish (which is good, so nobody else can experience this level of shitness).
We are talking about a game that was released over 20 years ago and is still iconing to the Polish scene as the epitome of bad. If you want to compare game with something, you use KC as a reference point of badness. There is entire generation of people who never even experienced the game first-hand and they know all the reasons why it was an utter failure in every single regard and absolutely meme game.

This meme was never true even at GURPS worst and no I'm not forgiving the unplayable piece of shit that was GURPS Vehicles. Mechanically, GURPS is up there is as one of the simpler RPGs. Roll 3d6, check stat and modifiers, and see the result per table/chapter/blahblahblah. There you now understand GURPS. You're welcome you retards. Now go back to playing D&D, Pathfinder, or whatever it is you scrubs play.

Nobody* who says GURPS is complicated is talking about the dice rolling mechanic, dude. OP's comic may be total horseshit with that calculus nonsense, but that's no reason to post some horseshit that leans in the other direction, either.

* For reasonable values of "nobody." I suppose there's probably someone as dumb as that OP comic, or you, out there who does think rolling 3d6 is hard.

This.

GURPS is complicated as fuck because you have 10,000 skills, 10,000 character options and each one with a different point value and effect. Calculus isn't the problem here it's the sheer amount of rote memorization you must do.

Not that guy. It'll die when GURPS stops requiring an inordinate amount of beancounting to be playable. I've played plenty of systems and the only one that comes close (of the ones I've played) to the amount of bookwork required to run and play is Shadowrun.

What is so complicated about GURPS mechanically? As your own post so crudely illustrates, GURPS is fairly similar to ALL popular pnp rpgs in terms of complexity. It certainly doesn't require Calculus and if you can do addition/subtraction/multiplication/division then GURPS should be childs play. Really what it comes down to is that A) people don't want to play a universal rpg system and/or B) people don't want to go out of their comfort zone to learn a new system. The rest is just worthless memes that I have seen repeated, nearly word for word, on the internet since the late 90s.

As a sidenote, you should have seen the old D&D forums. If someone even mentioned they played GURPS ONCE you'd get 50+ people parroting each other about "herp derp requires differential calculus" and "herp derp Generally Unplayable RolePlaying System." What truly amazes me isn't that after all these years these people still believe their own bullshit but that they're still playing D&D (all while furiously complaining about it). It's like they've lost the ability to learn how to play new systems so they're stuck trying convert the most inane shit to D20 (about as fruitless as trying to push a square peg through a round hole).

You do realize it's a universal system right? You're supposed to be able to build anything from a psychic muffin of unbelievable power to a planet sized dragon to posthuman cyborg to a caveman. To do all those things, the basic set has to include a decent about of advantages/disadvantages/skills. I can tell you though, that if you're only planning on playing a standard fantasy game you won't need even 10% of that.
>10,000 skills, 10,000 character options and each one with a different point value and effect.

Who is having a debate? I don't debate about games, they're fucking games. I'm relaying my experiences with this game system in the hopes that you might come to understand why some people find it too complicated.

Also do you realize most people don't need or even want a system where you can play a psychic muffin, right? There are plenty of other generic systems out there, that while less versatile will be "generic enough" for most people's needs while being simpler than GURPS.

>There are plenty of other generic systems out there, that while less versatile will be "generic enough" for most people's needs while being simpler than GURPS.
You don't really seem to be grasping how or what people use GURPS for. You appear to be looking at all those skills and going "how the fuck am I going to use these." That's not you run GURPS. GURPS is a toolset. You only use what you need. At its core, its not complicated at all and any complexity you find is what you chose to include in your game. That is what makes it great. Now if that sounds like too much of a hassle for you, well then I'm sorry. However, that doesn't GURPS a bad game. It's simply doing its job as a universal system.
>>
>>50563080

>And I addressed why those complaints were invalid.

You did no such thing. Most systems don't require that I prune out a whole shitload of options just to run.

Or I could just play something like Savage Worlds and get a functional game straight out of the box. Sure, I can't play a psychic muffin, but who the fuck cares?

Also this toolset argument is stupid. If I truly wanted a toolset, I'd fucking design my own goddamn system. What I want is a fucking game, not an autism simulator.

Since when ability to count to 18 is "inordinate"?

I mean have you actually see the game? I'm not talking about books on the shelf or PDFs on disc, but actual game, the content of it.
>>
>>50564146

You guys are starting to convince me that GURPS fans really are autistic, like not in the meme sense, but the clinical sense.
"Counting to 18" is entirely missing what he's saying, in a can't-see-the-forest-for-the-trees way.
>>
>>50564358
Yes, because it's so much better to pretend that the game is some sort of impossible to comprehend clusterfuck than simply admitting you don't even know how the game works in action, but hey, who needs knowledge, when the meme tells GURPS is an imposible to comprehend clusterfuck, right?

And the best part is how normies have absolutely no problems to grasp the game, but bring grognards and they will throw a bitchfit, because hey, there was that meme they've heard.

Fucking pathetic.

Especially since the game requires ability to count to 18, ability to read, an a dose of common sense a 10-year old can muster (which is pre-requested in pretty much all non-freeform games)

I never once claimed it was impossible to comprehend. It is a clusterfuck though, even by the standards of point buy systems.

>And the best part is how normies have absolutely no problems to grasp the game, but bring grognards and they will throw a bitchfit, because hey, there was that meme they've heard.

"Normies" in my experience have difficulty with basic concepts of gaming like acting in character or which dice to roll at what times, dragging them through something as detailed as GURPS sounds about as appealing as stubbing my toe with a piece of glass under the nail.

This. There's actually a perfectly logical reason for it, too: Autists have trouble handling subtlety, uncertainty, vagueness, ambiguity, variance. GURPS tries to categorize literally everything into a single universal matrix and assign each thing an objective point value that makes it fixed and rigidly comparative to every other thing in the matrix, and that kind of shit is what the dreams of autism are made of. Autistic people (literally autistic) in gaming are drawn to it like moths to a flame, they don't understand that there can be such a thing as a too-high price to pay for Universal, Knowable Order.

You don't "prune" things from generic systems like GURPS, you start with the basic mechanics and add things. The things aren't supposed to all go together by default. You don't have to "prune" the skill list, for example, you start with the basic mechanics and include the skills that make sense for the characters in the setting to have. A setting isn't supposed to have everything in it by default. >>
>>50583757
You're stating the same concept in a different direction. You still have to work through reams of options to build what you actually want, rather than just getting a playable game out of the box. What you get wont necessarily be better than a simpler game either.
>>
>>50583817
Not him, but why are you retarded on purpose?

I mean I get it, it's very easy to bait GURPS crowd, since average GURPS player can't just wrap his or her head around the possibility of people not reading rules of their system, but why bringing it a step further and purposefully being stupid?

Just like the other anon said, if you are trying to make a ham and cheese sandwich you pick what you need for that - ham, cheese, bread and butter. Nothing else.
Keeping with food comparison.
Pre-packed games are like pre-packed meals. A TV dinner. You get what you have on the envolope, slightly oversalted.
Generic systems work like a cook book and well-stuffed kitchen. But if you want a sandwich, you just pick what you need to make a sandwich. By your notion, you need to use entire kitchen for that and preferably also own a farm to supply yourself. And a plantation in equatorian area for spices.
Shit's not working this way.

Alternatively, you never played a system that has SKILLS in the first place, so you assume you need to have them all to function.
>>
>>50584275
But generic systems really don't work like that. This is a lie that's commonly perpetuated by their fans. They're just as much a package deal as any other system; anything you "create" with them will just be more of them. You go through the book, look at their options, and prune out the ones you don't want. This isn't building, this is throwing everything out of the toolbox you don't need, while still being limited to the basic capabilities of the original toolset.

>Alternatively, you never played a system that has SKILLS in the first place, so you assume you need to have them all to function.

Oh hey, speaking of being willfully retarded, you goddamn stupid piece of shit. I was talking about cutting down the skill list this entire time. Do you think I think that you need them all to function? Were you dropped on your fucking head as a child, or do you just like to bang your temple against the corner of the coffee table?
