The later APs are pretty dry, the only proper waifus are the hat lady and a fat noblewoman you meet in a later book.

It's kinda like Wrath of the Righteous; you expect tons of hot Crusader hunks or babes, but you get in and all the men and women are in relationships with each other and the few people left are... Well, really not that appealing as a partner (except Arueshalae, but she's one woman out of a full AP.)

It feels like both a good and bad thing; Paizo is clearly trying to move away from their roots as a dork pandering campaign writer, but at the same time I kinda liked the dork pandering.

I guess you could say they left it up to the DM to introduce romantic partners, but that just feels lame.

So, you're best option would probably be to start around lvl 4, then have things scale up from there.

That's it. I'm sick of all this "Masterwork Bastard Sword" bullshit that's going on in the d20 system right now. Katanas deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that.

I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine katana in Japan for 2,400,000 Yen (that's about $20,000) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my katana.

Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind.

Katanas are thrice as sharp as European swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a longsword can cut through, a katana can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a katana could easily bisect a knight wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash.

Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their katanas of destruction. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected.

So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the d20 system. Here is the stat block I propose for Katanas:

(One-Handed Exotic Weapon)

19-20 x4 Crit
+2 to hit and damage
Counts as Masterwork

(Two-Handed Exotic Weapon)

At the moment, campaigns have been kind of vague. My group hasn't really been very organized of late.

I've just gotten kinda tired of playing support casters and magi, even with Spheres to explore, so I wanted to try and do a longsword master, particularly since PoW gets rid of my primary problem with melee combat, the fact that there's fucking nothing to do except full attack. I've heard Scarlet Throne is good for free-hand longsword fighting, which I thought had a nice look even if it's balls in 1pp.

The character is probably going to be a professional mercenary who initially got into the swordplay business thinking he was going to be a legend in six months but six years later has lost most of his charm and high opinion of himself and become distrustful of others. Some part of him still wants to be a hero but he's been disappointed so many times already he tries (often unsuccessfully) to be a cynical fuck to avoid further letdowns.

I'll be avoiding the "this character wouldn't join up with a group of strangers" by a previously established connection with one of the other players in that they're blood-brothers that always have each others' backs, even if my guy has long since stopped trusting anyone else.

Mechanically, I don't know if Scarlet Throne is the best for this, but I'd like to do some stuff like this.

Anything in excess of 10 is substracted due to how weird and foreign it is compared to the norms. 39 means that Cthulhu gets 18.5 on that scale, which makes Cthulhu a 1.5/10

A thousand times this, and sometimes the alternate is more thematic and effective than the thing you're trying to emulate. For a thread relevant example, the Aldori Swordlord PrC is kind of shit, but if you take a ZweiSent and jam Quick Draw, Improved Initiative and Scarlet Throne Style into it, and prestige into Landsknecht after, you've made something even more Swordlord than the Swordlord while being 3x more effective!
