In the last thread one Anon wanted to know when Xenos were going to be a thing, Land's pimpmobile is slowly becoming popular and got stats, an Anon talked about his dudes and another showed his mail, the thread went slightly Azetc with the Death Whistle and Rainbow Warriors, Rangda Xenocide better get more fluff, and much more in the last thread

I believe somebody did say Xana. Why do you ask?
Anyway, we seriously need some transfers for that place. That lightning bolt animal skull emblem is a tad hard to fit on a regular Castellax, and really fiddly on even a Knight. Hell, the little cog-with-an-X symbol is hard enough.

Also, how would you make the colour scheme on the Lascannon Thanatar on the FW store? Want to make a Xana army but can't figure it out. Maybe Zandri Dust with layer Tau light ochre and washed heavily around the edges with Agrax, and lightly everywhere else.

Also, shift Scoria to the LoW slot already, and make him available in Reductor armies, FW. The man deserves it.

Did Legion squads ever deploy in mixed armor units? Would there ever be some mk IIIs suits in a tactical squad made up mostly of mk IVs.

I think it'd look awesome to see some mixed armor units. Be a lot more interesting too look at than a regular one, even if it might look a bit disorganized.
>>
>>50487790
I could definitely see blackshields doing that, or legionaries that had been fighting for a long time so maintaining whole squads worth of the same suits would become hard

>Did Legion squads ever deploy in mixed armor units? Would there ever be some mk IIIs suits in a tactical squad made up mostly of mk IVs.
That's a very, very, very, very, very, very, very incredibly dumb question, Anon. The squad's not going to get in trouble because Brother Craig decided to wear mk2 in a mk4 squad. I'm sorry. Also what >>50487819 said.
>>
>>50487779
>necromorphs, brother moons, and markers are all caused by the warp

I like this, I'm adding Dead space to my list of non-official 40k prequels, taking it's place alongside event horizon and the original doom series
>>
>>50487819
yeah thought about that. would definitely be a thing by the time the "Mk V pattern" was "developed" since they had to start mix and matching suits just to get by in a few cases.
>>
>>50487868
But "MkV pattern" was "developed" anon

You aren't referring to non-production MkV are you anon? Because that might start another armour autism war

And thatch certainly not what we would want, having just got over the MoM shittening...
>>
>>50487858
awwww too bad
>>
>>50487790
Well, I would imagine so.

Mark 3 is just Mark 2 with armour strapped to it, Mark V was made ad-hoc with whatever they could, and it and everything after it were made to be backwards-compatible with Mark IV.

Some people might say it's an eyesore, but unless they're randomly mixed without rhyme or reason there's no reason to complain. Even in "plain" squads the idea of the formation being ad-hoc legitimises mixed armour.

Space Marines use an absolute jumble of armour designs even within their own suit of power armour in 40k. One would imagine that back when they got suits shipped to them from an assembly line, they'd use the newer, "fresher" ones rather than wait until everything old had worn out or they had a big enough stockpile of the new ones to make the switch(es) overnight.

Help me HHG, what legion shall I pick? I know, I'll not pick a traitor legion, so those, Dark Trai... Angels and Jiffys are out since I don't like these 2 at all. I have 2x the BoP Marine stuff sitting around as a cheap tactical base so I can put the teal money in some tanks and Leviathan Dreads of wich one should arrive next week since I had some money left over and was greedy as fuck about the sweet model, but I can't decide for shit.

I'd like to run tactical blobs with apothecaries, have some artillery sitting in the back pounding the enemy at range and at least 2 Leviathan dreads stumbling across the battlefield. What legion would you suggest that is most fitting with this idea of mine? Does anyone else think that MoM is hinting that the Emperor is actually going to die?

The Sisters plug in 1000 psykers which is the same amount they used to have to sacrifice to the throne everyday.

It is a nightmare to paint. (Without an airbrush).
That said, perhaps the spray can will make my life easier, or else that new concentrated paint can help me get a base paint that's the hue I like.

Honestly you should go with whatever legion's fluff floats your boat, and work the gameplay around the crunch that's out there.

Unfortunate if it's the incomplete legions you like, but of all of them, the Dark Angels are one where Tactical blobs are likely to be of some use, and not stand-out unfluffy.

>>50488173
>and I dont remember a reference to him directing it in the HH series

>But isn't that what kept him confined to Terra after Magnus smashed open a mini-warp rift in Terra?
No malc dies holding the webway closed during the end of the siege as far as the old lore was concerned. When Emps goes up to fight Horus.

The Astronomican is powered by the psykers of some latin named astronomican branch that die off to power it. The Emps just directs it I believe. I just cant remember that being mentioedn in the HH series is all. And if they retcon that then Emps doesnt actually have to be alive anymore. 1000 psykers sacrificed every day to keep webway shut. Astronmcan does its own thing. Imperial faith creates LoD and Saints.

I just dont like how easy it fits together.

I just read new ending of heresy. Horus killed Emperor on Vengeful Spirit but was mortally wounded. Seeing what he's done, killing his father that he loved so much Horus break and became loyal again. He used his Chaos enhanced OP psychic powers to look like Emperor. Dorn finds him and put him on a golden throne. Emperor on Golden Throne is in truth Horus. Abaddon finds Big E burned corpse and took his talon thinking that's Talon of Horus. Abaddon is now trying to get vengance on his own father.
Best ending ever with nice plot twist.

His words are psychically placed into people's heads so it's probable they interpret them how they want to
The best example is the Land conversation where he shows no emotion which doesn't compare with how he talks to the custodians
The attitude reflects how the custodians don't like the Primarchs and see them as a project
Think about it they have been with the emperor from before the Primarch project started
That last conversation with Dico he says Horus
Oh and btw - what he tells Ra suggests somehow he will get Ra to return from within drach at the end time

He was going to censure Curze because he was getting more unstable and going AWOL, not because he murdered children, Curze may have been crazy but he wasnt murdering entire systems like Angron and having your reputation alone bringing systems into compliance out of fear is extremely useful. The Emperor didnt care that Curze enjoyed terrorizing civilians, he made the legion to do exactly that.

I don't play the game, I pretty much just enjoy (most) of the HH books. I thought "Master of Mankind" was pretty good, and ADB is the best BL author (although I base that opinion on "Betrayer" and not this).

I can understand why some people wouldn't care for what this book implies. At the same time, if you like your 90s lore as it is and don't want it changed at all, why would you be reading any of these books?

Give him the benefit of the doubt. You don't know how many Eldar were there. I'm not saying it was an entire 1500pts list of aspect warriors against Angron, but I'm not saying no either.
>why do Eldar suck at baby killing?
For the same reason they suck at prophecy.

Poor Angronius, he just got off a rough start with the whole murder attempt + kidnapping + nails + slavery thing. I mean, even utterly alone (Curze) or with wild animals (Lion and Russ) or mutants (Sanguinius) or literal jail (Corax) or even necromancers (Mortarion) or even being poor (Fulgrim) was better than what Angron got. Not to mention those who landed on decent worlds and had a normal family like Guilliman or Dorn.

Sucks to be you, Angron.

Even more questions. Why did they stop trying to kill him after they failed killing him as a kid? Why did they not give him back to the Emperor instead of killing him? Sure Angron would still probably kill them if he didn't have Nails for brains, but at least then he wouldn't be a daemon with the questionable benefits that provides. I guess they didn't weigh their options.

Let's be clear what about what the old fluff was. Here's an excerpt from The Lost and the Damned:
>Horus's fall came as a great shock to the Emperor. For a vital month the Emperor hesitated, stunned by the extent of Horus's treachery, unable to believe that his friend and general was really gathering forces against him.
>friend and general

I haven't finished reading the novel yet, but it does look like things have changed.

>>50484227
>The amount of bullshit they've pulled with Calth and Ultramar in general is arguably even more of a mess than what they've done with Nikaea/Prospero.
The 1989 rulebook for Space Marine (1st ed. Epic) has stories and illustrations of Word Bearer attacks on Ultramarines. "Calth" isn't mentioned, but it was basically already in the old fluff.

Imperium Secundus is new, but I'm okay with it. It makes good boy Guilliman a little bit treasonous - he's more interesting that way.
>>
>>50492827
>A model may carry a vexilla
Fixed.

You're also going to need to include the special weapons sergeants can take as well.
>>
>>50492862
I think I'd cut it down to Power Weapons and Heavy Weapons to avoid bloat. Power Weapons are Chainswords at -4 Rend, Heavy are 2+ Mortal Wounds but models killed by them may attack before they removed from play.
>>
>>50492827
>>50492862
But yeah, I'd play it. It'd need to be slightly more complex than AoS, but as it is, AoS is a legitimately good game that normies/Ork players can love due to how rules lite it is compared to 40k it is.

>>50492911

>"Calth" isn't mentioned, but it was basically already in the old fluff.
You're right in that the word bearers attacking the ultramarines is old as dirt, but the proceedings were quite different.

The battle of calth was added in third edition. With the new series they swapped it from being the end of the word bearer's campaign to the opening act. I can kind of understand why they did that, novel-wise, for the sake of the suspense caused by an obvious (to the reader) betrayal and the dramatic setpieces of the suns getting nuked, but messing with the timeline like that raises more questions than it does answers, and basically had the authors desperately trying to find shit to fill the time that was previously occupied by a lengthy campaign of all out war by the red team to distract/occupy the blue team while everyone else bumrushed the heart of the empire.

Like, man, the ruinstorm? The pharos? Lionel, Sanguinius, Vulkan, Konrad, Lorgar and Angron all showing up in Ultramar while the war's going on galaxy-wide? None of that needed to happen, and the whole plot of the Heresy suffers greatly for it.

I really hate how they're making the emperor less relatable with each passing book.

>there had to be an excuse for those legions to not make it in time
they made an excuse for something that didn't need excusing

The salamanders, iron hands and raven guard were completely shattered, trying to rebuild themselves.
The imperial fists, blood angels and white scars made it to earth in time.
The ultramarines were busy fighting the only legion big enough to actually keep them tied down.
And the wolves and dark angels were at the edges of the galaxy and only barely made it back in time to force Horus' hand.

Like, the ruinstorm is completely unnecessary unless you're trying to pad shit out. Especially when you can just go "warp travel and communication is being an ass because chaos" without the need for some contrived plot bullshit explaining it. That's literally the explanation they went with in Collected Visions, too.

The novel series has so many nonsensical changes that I'm not sure it's possible to pinpoint how many stupid plot holes they've opened up for the sake of including more primarch drama.

Unrelated but that pic reminds me that I still call bullshit on Alpharius actually dying in the Praetorian of Dorn novel. I mean it just leaves too many loose ends and subplots they introduced having no conclusion if he actually died. Not that the series have had the best writing to begin with, but even so that would be pushing it in my mind.

I would assume the BL author's claims that he is actually dead might be them lying to setup a future surprise or some shit, but I can't recall them every blatantly lying about something for that reason (feel free to correct me if there was a case of that). Either that or they saw the Alpha Legion plot as getting too complex, decided they needed to quit while they were ahead and killed Alpharius off so that they only had to deal with one Primarch for the Alpha Legion. Making it easier to keep things consistent for their authors and add to the Primarch body count since the only one before that was Ferrus.

The Emperor cannot stop the psychic evolution of Mankind. It's happening all over the galaxy but he can lower their reliance on the Warp and isolate them from the Warp via the Webway. His ultimate goal is to cut off humanity's psychic connection to the Warp forever.

>>50496416

>Emperor : True, the Eldar did use the Webway the same way I intend to do. They didn't rely on the Warp in their empire. However, they did not cut off their connection to the Warp. This link to the Warp is what fed the powers that destroyed them. After humanity evolves into a psychic race, I will cut off their connection to the Warp.

But how will He cut mankind's connection to the warp? Reduction of exposure isn't enough, more psykers are born each day even in normal planets unaffected by the warp.

The Webway project, thanks to Magnus, exploded. So we will never know for sure. Maybe he wanted to move swathes of mankind inside the Warp. Start culling the most gifted psykers. Mass breed pariahs. Like I said, it no longer matters because without the Webway his plan is permanently halted.

The evolution of mankind continues apace. Assuming that the Emperor guides humanity safely through and it doesn't explode into daemons, assuming that no Chaos tainted warlord destroys him and humanity on the way, then they might evolve into a race of power psychics. This will result in a golden age of wonderment but it won't last. Like the Eldar before them, the Chaos powers will feed on the psychic energy and emotions of the human empire until BOOOM. This why the Emperor at the end of the book was depressed and doomsaying. Humanity is fodder for Chaos forever. There is no escape.

This is the first account I have read of dorn being tough and not an unremarkable faggot.

Its pretty shit cause I've not being paying attention to this stuff lately. Only realised he dies today.

But AL have gone from

2nd ed sneaky and obsessed with trying to prove themselves (Cool)

IA Deceptive little shits, no one knows anything about them except they are liars, Robute probably killed him or did he? (Cool)

BL Legion AL are retarded xenos lovers, also their twins (Shit)

FW HH Really nice write up essentially an improved IA article, with more and cool details. (Cool)

BL PoD Alpharius is ded, he died no one cares. Left with the stupid twin from Legion who every faggot thinks is some grey knight or some loyalist shit. (Fucking awful)

Black library can suck it. If your gonna kill my homeboy make it better than this. Gulliman killing him was better.

Quad mortars not being 0-1.

Flare Shields are good but pretty easily countered.

Armored Ceramite is only good because it's possible to spam melta. There's plenty of S10 shooting and armourbane melee.

At least artillery is 0-1. So they have to target the same thing. It's unfortunate if you have blobs. Medusas have limited range, but basilisks are pretty spooky. It's too late to remove them. Just going to have to adapt. Flyers, holding blobs in reserve, things like that.

>Artillery can only be countered with more artillery.
Or
>Deep striking
>Flyers
>Simply not giving a shit if your dudes die
>Outflanking melta
>Bikes with melta
>Anything with melta
>Taking vehicles
