It was not accidental. I honestly could not come up with anything to make her worth more than the base Companion import, Road Trip!. She would have "Where are your eyebrows?", "Target Acquired!", "Confirming Status!", and the Absolutely Massive Sniper Rifle, but that all easily fits into the Companion Import option currently available.

Can someone explain to me exactly how powerful nyarlathotep is? I'm trying to gauge how powerful I need to be to handle the lovecraft jump, and how much I can push my luck with drawbacks.

On one hand I've heard people talk about him like he's 50 different kinds of omnipotent, on the other hand I've seen tons of people's builds where they took nyarlathotep as their parent in Percy Jackson, which I thought had a strict no omnipotence rule.

He's not omnipotent, it's just that in lovecraft you have beings that are literally another dimension of complexity. So you have things that while they might not technically be 4 dimensional beings are of an existence that much more complicated than 3d humans, then a couple steps beyond those you have beings in the same range as nyarlathotep. However it's all rather intentionally vague, not just for suspense but also likely because there would be no real satisfying way for a human to write something literally incomprehensible to humans.

Hey, for people more familiar with Exalted mechanics and charms and whatnot (since I'm aware of the concept and lore but not so much the actual meat of Exalted)

Can anyone give examples of what the following build would let me accomplish in terms of combat and supernatural shenanigans? Assume someone already pretty skilled in magic I realized that there's a non-zero chance I could scour a nation in a single casting from Valflame due to wearing the Deathcap from League as well as having the Eye of Set be my always-available accessory. Army-killer tome x Something that makes a Fireball into an army killer x something that amplifies magic so that even a newbie can outstrip many masters = a whole lotta firepower.

Improbable perk's wording is a little...iffy. If I bounce from the walls like a pinball, surely I might get hurt?

Armory is odd too and may or may not seem overpowered depending on the setting of the jump. Getting lots of guns and ammo in a fantasy setting essentially may or may not be overpowered. I could suggest that it is equivalent to the modern day in that jump?

What is a "Device"? I'm confused.

Why's Clown 200 instead of 100 like the others?

Painless and Determined seems similar-ish.

The Protagonist and Clown 300cp items don't seem close to as good as the other two 300s.

Honestly, Collection of Cars should probably be the 300 there.

Same with the Clown's Mask being nowhere near as useful as the other 100cp items.

Doesn't seem to be much difference between the Binary Sword and Dark Sword, aside from looks.

Needs more drawbacks.

NWN had two games with three expansions each. Dark Sun has 2e books, all which stuff is already offered. Outcasts are kinda based on Ranger/The Outcast (he has multiple personality disorder), Nobility is based off city nobles which are all about doing generic noble stuff. Templars are the real power besides the Sorcerer Monarchs.

I might think of something, but I'll have to redo the entire jump. Problem with it being so old, the number of jumps one had to look into for inspiration was limited.

There's a lot of good stuff for high level characters you're not offering, though. Fighters ended up leading armies, rogues became guildmasters, and bards became assassins and spymasters. Not to mention things from the Prism Pentiad books, like being a Sun Cleric or getting Sun Magic like Sadira, or any of the magic items like the Cane of Nok, the Heartwood Spear, the Scourge of Rkard, or even the Dark Lens itself. Honestly it's part of why the update is taking forever (on top of RL work taking up basically all of my time and energy) since I'm torn on polishing the jump up with everything I've learned and just getting it done. it turns into a kind of clusterfuck where I'm not sure what I'm doing.

Evo also has some (IMO) issues that I'd polish and tweak to smooth it out if I was doing it now. I'd be tempted to make it a dual 100/200/400/600 perk structure and add in new content, but it's already finished and I think trying to mess with it is just a lot of trouble without improving it enough to be worth it.

The designs are okay. My issue with the Bayverse Transformers is that it feels like they have no weight. They flip around and maneuver like inertialess ninjas. It's explained in the book. Light and Dark, Good and Evil, are as physical of a force as Gravity in their universe. Too much life means nothing dies, the balance of nature is disrupted and eventually everything fades into still whiteness. While too much evil causes nothing to be born, disrupts nature in exactly the opposite way, and eventally smothers even the vilest monsters in a blackness so absolute it destroys the world.

It's silly, but the book is an awesome read. The main characters list read like a DnD party where no one read the game synopsis first, or like your average Jumper Companion list.

Nah, I care about Transformers. I was just curious about why Many Fist didn't have a human option, as for as much as I like the Transformers universes I've never wanted to be a Transformer myself. I'd be fine with most of the options presented: a zero point drawback that turns you human or paying double CP to buy perks if you're human. I just like having the options, and Many Fist hasn't presented a good rationale for why humans aren't an offering in the Transformers jump. He just talks shit and acts like an asshole.

That doesn't bring out the best in people.

I have to say, building the foundations for a jump doesn't take long at all. A tiny jump like Transformers is something I could make a foundation for in under a day - it's the matter of balancing and fluffing afterwards (and finding the right fluff) that can take longer.

It isn't even a matter of ability or anything either, it's just about having a very clear sense of what you're working with, what you can offer, and going from there to lay out a structure. So I'm not saying this to be an arrogant son of a bitch, but rather because I think that really, anyone can put in the amount of effort to make a foundation for a more fleshed out jump - this is especially true if they know the subject material well.

The reasoning for this is extremely simple though. Many has a history of making very heavy executive decisions on his jumps, and he has a streak of stubbornness that's only fueled when people criticize him or try to argue with him. The more you try to pull something out of him, the more likely he'll close up and reject all comments. It happened with Dark Sun with the drawback that could kill Jumpchan, it happened with the classes in World of Warcraft, it happened with that jump of his that had spiritual energy in it (I think it was Yu Yu Hakusho).

Every jumpmaker has their own tendencies, this just happens to be one of Many's tendencies. Some of us have bad habits that are more tolerable than others, some of us aren't so lucky. But considering the fact that he's doing it for free, and it's already been accepted, really the only way out is for somebody to put together a foundation for a new jump.

The short of it is that there are ways around it, and people are willing to talk about them. Many Fist just doesn't feel like he has to do any of that. Which is frustrating, because all the other jump makers will engage with anons about their decisions.

I get that Many has issues. I remember him referencing his developmental issues and borderline autism. That's fine, everyone has their cross and all that.

Having said that, he has shown himself willing to compromise in the past and I don't understand why he won't even entertain that notion now. Hell, he won't even explain his rationale behind it. He just tosses out a meme and thinks that counts as discussion. It's not. This is particularly frustrating as all the other jump makers are willing to engage. Sure, they might not always change what they're doing but at least they explain why they're doing it and more often than not if you make a good point the jump maker will throw you a bone. I know he does it for free, I get that and I appreciate that, but by the same token we do have some standards and norms here and he's operating either on the fringe or outside of them. I'm not endorsing some of the shit that's been tossed his way, some of that is out of line, but I get where it's coming from.

As for making a jump, I don't have a ton of free time. I get an hour or two at most free time a day. Is that enough time to make a jump? Yes, yes it is. However, the rest of my day kinda burns me out with respect to creativity, producing, and editing. I drop in here a couple times a week for an hour or so to unwind.

Anyway, this isn't going anywhere but I really appreciate you willing to talk about this. I know you get on yourself, it is what it is, but you're a really get presence here and, as said, I appreciate what you're doing as part of this discussion.
