If you are talking specifically about the warhammer fantasy battles which I believe this vidya is based on, that product line is kill.

Look to /AoSg/ for the age of sigmar which replaced it.

You might want to have a look at the rules as well to see if it appeals to you. I've heard that kings of war by mantic is a better war game than AoS. You will also need another player to play this type of game with.

If you are looking for a single player game in the warhammer universe then maybe check out warhammer quest which is not a war game but a dungeon crawl, it is also out of print and expensive.

Basically anything warhammer will be expensive, so ask yourself if you need to have the warhammer IP or if any tabletop game based in fantasy will do.

Best way to do it is by looking up any local gaming stores or "organizational" websites like meetup.com. Find some people that are playing traditional games first, then see if anyone is playing miniatures wargames.

As mentioned though Games Workshop has turned their Fantasy setting into Age of Sigmar, which is a very very different kind of game. If you're interested in things that play like Total War with blocks of infantry then I suggest checking out "Kings of War" or "The 9th Age". 9th Age specifically is an updated copy of the old Warhammer Fantasy rules with all the names filed off (and barely even that, with stuff like "Von Karnsteins")

They scrapped it to make a new smaller scale game (intro cost to Warhammer fantasy was like $400) that they could have more control over legally (change elf to aelve and you can sue people for making knockoffs)

But they also started a specialist games section of their company an there was no good reason to put Warhammer fantasy there so everyone is pissed and their stocks are slowly dropping every quarter because nobody likes the replacement game and most people buy secondhand for 40k .

And what kills me is that there's a solution to the absurd entry price that took me two seconds to think up. Sell the unit trays and instead of making me buy a 100+ models let me buy some nice blocky pawns/needles to fill out the rest of a unit. All you'd really need is the Champion model for each unit to let your opponent know what it is, your characters, and the big single unit monsters. Plus it means CA could sell a single fancy skeleton/swordsman/whatever for $5 a pop instead of trying to convincing some 12 year old's parents that they need a massive battle-box just to play army-mans.

Try to get minis off of ebay and search for the warhammer fantasy general, not AoS. It doesn't have a title rn so you gotta search for it. There's new fanrules being made and all real editions are still online somewhere.

Also you can try out the rpg for that, you should find it in the warhammer fantasy general as well.

People liked WHFB but they no longer put much money into so GW found a better solution salesmanship wise so now everyone hates GW even more than they did before because now they've killed Old Yeller.

It's not going anywhere guys. The game is already proving to be more profitable than 8th and GW is not in its death throes as people have been prophesying for years and years and years. And GW is rumored to be giving 40k a similar treatment summer of next year. So prepare your rage-fedoras and pound those electrolytes because the salt will continue to flow, and GW will not be going under.
