Hey /tg/ i am currently looking for a game that best represents the Imperial Guard experience( a game in which you play as a random grunt and not some sort of hero character or some messiah of some sort) and i was wondering if you guys could offer me some sort of PC game which could help me live out my fantasy as a random redshirt that is meant to perish against all odds.
Can /tg/ help me with suggestions what PC game best encompasses the spirit of the Imperial Guard(Astra Milisomething)?

Only War, the game literally made for exactly that.

Brothers in Arms series

Maybe Planetside 2 for the feeling of being part of a bigger army

Medal of Honor Pacific Assault got me some fond memories. You're always part of a squad instead of being WW2 rambo all the time, and you often have other allied troops with you. Guadalcanal was a mess and banzai charges could get tense. I do reccommend playing it on higher difficulties to enhance lethality.
Starship Troopers wasn't that bad of a shooter all things considered, especially if you liked the setting.
WW2 COD titles tend to put you into the boots of more regular grunts instead of going full special forces and almost always have you as part of a bigger battle.

X-COM: UFO Defense (the original… it had different names in different markets)

This guy gets it. I replayed CoD 2 and WaW for the same reason I watched Band of Brothers and The Pacific while brainstorming ideas for my OW campaign and it was actually a really useful experience. WaW even has a hamtastic commissar chewing the scenery and obligatory war crime scenes, too.
