Well, if I remember correctly, only the Vigilante Identity needs to be evil. Meaning the social identity can be neutral. I GM'd a mystery in my campaign that involved that archetype, the character believed the only thing people truly understand is fear, and targeted gangs under the guise of "this town is Mine" kinda deal when in his killer identity.

It's basically sneak attack, studied target, charm hex, death attack and spooky corpses as class features. None of those necessarily mandate being evil.

I've got a quick question if anyone could help me out.

I'm playing a 5th level ninja (unchained) and our group was fighting off a horde of zombies when a shapeshifter attacked me. I went invisible to try and flank but as soon as I went invisible it tried to run. It ran past me provoking an attack of opportunity. I hit but my DM wouldn't allow me to add sneak attack damage to the damage roll which would have killed it. I mean, wouldn't you be caught off guard if some bitch with a sword was somewhere and you had no idea where she was?

Basically my question is, in what instances do I get to roll sneak attack damage?

Did it have some way of detecting you? Because if it can't then it was flatfooted against your attack. However if it had Blindsense, temorsense, scent, blindsight, or lifesense it knew exactly where you were and was not flatfooted against the sttack.

Well there we go. Bartran isn't optimised or anything, and he's the opposite of a combat monster, leaving those roles for others. Instead, he's a bit of a jack of all trades, which means he's terrible since this is Pathfinder, but I've figured that it wouldn't harm that much considering how everyone else is building.

I think it has some of the strongest fluff of all the psionic classes. Seeing the inter-related pattern between all things is a great shtick for an intelligence class. Its more flavor solid than the classic psion, or most of DSP's additional psionic classes.

I just think its mechanically all over the place. It takes from Warlock, Rogue, Bard and with my build... I used both my Blue racial power and my first level feat on Wild Talent so im running around with psychic tracking and untouchable aura. So i've eaten like 5/6 classes utility wise.

i've been very powerful for the first five levels, Im only falling off the top of the DPR charts beacuse the party bloodrager's reach build is finally kicking in. I'm probably going to have to pvp the party summoner soon though, and their eidilon can't keep failing will saves forever.

Is there a +1 weapon ability that grants a feat? I swear i remember something like this from 3.5

I think theres a large difference between seeing the pattern and having a vaguely scholarly knowledge of the pattern.

The way I always did it was declare a random range between 1-100 (dependent on the race, Humans are 30% for example) and if a rolled d100 falls in that range, congratulations she's preggers.

I don't have a lick of an idea how CON factors in, maybe it's a floating modifier to the d100 or broadens the conception range.

There are many ways, many of them roundabout.

1) a Cryptic, but they're utility, forget about blasting with disrupt pattern properly

2) refluff a warsoul; the various firearms (including the high-tech ones even though they're weaker) through discipline blade shapes basically act as your various elements and shapes, and at least when you expend maneuvers they're not gone for the day.

3) Kineticist. Uh, unless 1pp-only in which case forget it. Just forget it. 3pp the gambler, avant-garde, and several of the porphyra archetypes will get you what you need

4) stay away from the adamant-entertainment warlock. It's a mess, it's incomplete, and it has dead levels too.

5) spheres of power destruction casting, but those damn spell points are a /day limit that will get in the way of your fun.

6) a Spellburst Savant has some per-day spells but the "turbo" version was written for us blaster types, and is designed around mostly boosting your at-will spells every round to good effect. Lets you keep your spell slots for all-days and utilitie s and even those you get to nova-cast. Low optimization scaling though so don't expect martial damage levels, but you should be able to keep viable if not top-class in DPR.

7) the Avowed. Still work in progress, see the playtest upt here.


Be aware that in 1pp, paizo HATES at-will abilities, especially if they could be made to compete in any way with vancian spells, and most especially damage ones, so most of your options will not be found there.

This avowed class is actually pretty neat. The only thing i dislike is the name. Definitly the best port in ages, and eats the dragon shaman to boot.

You can blast as a full round once you get 3rd level powers, but it will tax your limited power pool. My grammaton cryptic has been using a deep crystal revolver so he is blasting at 3 dice over his character level, but at lower range. He gets major bonus points for being one of the least PP locked psionic characters i have ever played. Over 6 sessions i have yet to spend more than a third of my power points. ( lack of time/need to buff and often firing once or twice each combat and then running off to do something more useful than damage. Before 4th level this time was spent reloading.)

Aether Pulse sounds like a shitty pokemon name and i dislike the name clauses. Invocations/Boons and Eldritch Blasts just sounded cooler.

The ability to form a pact with your nation is super fucking cool though. I havent played a lock since complete arcane or 4e phb were brand new, I could definitly see myself playing that class.

Still about halfway through the avowed playtest, i will share more thoughts soon. Definitly gonna use this as my Warlock port in my Planescape game.

Help me anons. I'm happy with Song Lilin as she is, but a dex build would let me use that one stat for reflex saves, to hit bonus, damage, initiative... With just a little tweaking I end up no worse except when it comes to carrying capacity, and I come out of it with a 2d6, 18-20/x2, finesseable katana.

If your party is planning to kill you, then there's only two things you can do. Either will end the campaign though, and it's already been decided that it was "your fault" from the very beginning.

Yeah im well aware of this i discussed it with the party. There is a conspiracy going in the party, but the lead orchestrate missed the last two sessions. Our partys necro-cleric has secretly already captured the souls of two of our party members, and the player texted someone at the table letting them know i was allowed to play their dude this week. (Hes a Blue Goblin) Our characters are infiltrating a drow society right now, and all but the orc barbarian and two goblins have bloodgems that let them wear the corpses of noble drow. My character was assigned to impersonate a slave owned by said Summoner. The last session our summoner made a pact with Abraxas, his own soul for knowledge and perhaps eternal life, an act my character with higher intelligence score and greater Knowledge(planes) (as well as extra planar experience.) warned him heavily against. Fast foreward to later in the session and we come out of an arena combat against another Drow House and divvy up treasure. One party member is playing with some baby dragon we found, our barbarian is passed out on the couch, our bloodrager is down to like 5 strength score beacuse of poison and we are counting up loot. This is the fourth time we have divy'd up loot in this campaign since i have joined. The first time i got my double share of treasure, thanks to the cleric holding a vote in my favor. Next two sessions the bloodrager and summoner stop me from getting my share, saying i am a slave and a goblin and i deserve less

There was a moment he offered me an equal share of treasure, then the bloodrager chimed in and called me a slave, and the Summoner offered me 500gp and made a short joke instead. So he got a revolver shot to the stomache. We argue for a minute, the DM ( who roleplays the eidilon) has the summon jump in. Pass their will save for my untouchable aura, but miss my ac by one. I fire again and drop the summoner to one life. He is arguing vehemently OOC by now, saying one, that my character should be utterly afraid of his summoned demon and their greatsword (lmao) and that the rest of the party will turn on me if i attack. I pointed out that the session before i joined the bloodrager stole the other goblin's rifle, fearing someone as strong as him, and was allowed to hang still. He was also arguing earlier in the session that summoning abraxas and pledging his soul to him is not an evil act if done for the greater good, which both me and the bloodrager wouldn't drop after the DM wanted to cave to the summoner. Good idea, but personally I'd suggest the numbers are "floating" modifiers that are simply used to get closer to the conception range.

Here's an example using our famous resident breeder, Amalthea. She's just experienced the pleasure of being cummed inside, and is now basking in the afterglow with her lover. The declared range is 1-31, and Amalthea's player rolls a 1d100 and got a 58.

Now, normally this would mean conception did not occur, but with her floating fertility score of 30 (+20 from CON, +10 because holy shit she's curvy) they use that to bring the number down from 58 to 28, exactly in the sweet spot to make a baby.

If the declared range was 70-100 and she rolled that same 58, the negative modifier becomes a positive, bringing the score up to 88. If the fertility modifier threatens to overshoot the conception range, it simply stops at the first chance it would succeed.

Personally I call for a Fort save from the potential mother, DC based on HD and Con of the dad, then both roll a die based on race to see if she was receptive at the time. If she fails the save and both dice match she's preggers.

1d4 for goblins and other super fertile races.
1d6 for humans and the like.
1d8 for elves and other slow reproducing species.
Anything with a template like dragons or outsiders are automatic.

I should point out that the third time we divy'd up treasure, the drow impersonaters all received one plat, and i received nothing and nat 20'd to pick pocket from said insulting summoner. He also had to spend more than all his character wealth to summon said abraxas. Our DM is known for not following wealth by level so money is tight. When the first thing he said to me after i arrived through the door was reminding me i stole a thousand gold from him the week prior, i knew we would be pvping by the end of the session. The player is far too confidant in his ability to dominate everyone through melee but has very low system mastery.

So, my pvp options are thus: use minor metamorphisis' climb/burrow speeds to ignore the party long enough to cloud minds/set up traps, or, play the conspiracy card and turn it into a 4v2, but this is an 8 to 9 person party so this result is not entirely predictable.

The summoner also made a bet on me 50 bux that barbarians get 5 auto attacks by 20th level from bab progression the session i pick pocketed him and I didnt bring it up the entire time he was hounding me for said 1000 gold. Thats going to be my OOC 'super secret tech' defense if he starts arguing OOC again.

I granted him mercy multiple times, i've offered to help him, i've tried pointing out that how the DM has shown sentience of his eidilon and how he could also argue for a double share of treasure. This fucker started shit with my character beacuse, in a situation where my character was forced to act like a slave, playing a class thats unable to bluff, and being chaotic neutral, tried to hop on the back of his quadroped eidilon and claim to the drows that it was his summon. His summoner then tried to grapple my character lmao. After failing to strike at me cuz of my untouchable aura power he gave up, but next week he respec'd his eidilon to no longer be a quadroped. This offends me greatly.

I am a Blue Cryptic Grammaton. We have a musket master goblin gunslinger ( who has recently started to turn blue, thanks to eating some fungus too close to an aboleth's cavern)

We have a Dual Bloodline human Bloodrager with an AOO build. We have an Orc Titan Mauler Barb. We have a recently turned dhampire Cleric Necromancer. We have a human Antipaladin. A teifling witch. A human summoner, and a druid ( who will prolly never show up again). Its intresting how everyone is playing a character very similar to the next man, but despite this being an evil party, these tend to be the characters who conflict the least.

The necro has control over the barbarian and gunslinger's soul and we have some kind of alliance so if that fucker shows up to some sessions he should be able to protect me. he has told me he intends to kill both the bloodrager and maybe the summoner as they appear to be troublemakers.

I messaged my DM ooc about all this, he dosent seem to intend to write my character out of the story. Its going to be up to the rest of the table. If it ends up being a 7 v 1 i can always use minor ectoplasmic creation to create a cubic foot of lamp oil and allahuh akbar the entire team.

I almost fully agree with this. I still think that the 3.5 Warlock is the quintessential blaster. Blasting/Nuking have been distinct for a long time and this class is the reason why. This class is going to take point blank shot nearly every time. So he is a ranged martial? What feats are we talking here.

Negative CON scores would work against fertility chances, and there should be STDs, "safe days", poor body types or simply bad genetics that make it harder for some women or harder on some days (determined through player opinion, fuck keeping track of that.)

A high fertility score should not be able to make it tougher to get pregnant, it should always make it easier. This may be an issue for some characters, and it SHOULD; unprotected sex is always a risk, and a woman that practically radiates fertility should be especially careful about where her lover finishes.

Except you've got the single-target or "fire two, later 3 beams", and a lot of the effect modulations are already weakening the pulse to begin with (untyped downgraded to elements like cold or fire). You can't have all that many modulations since they're shared with your clauses, and a lot of the AoE shapes have "it now deals double damage" as an upgrade.

The damage not keeping up with even "secondary damage-dealer" (in other words, it's like a cryptic; "do something else with your turns you can't hurt shit") is directly in comment to Barrage, breath and the other AoEs which wouldn't be hitting hard enough if they didn't have a reflex-half (and they do).

Not so much the pulse growth itself at fault, but rather the problem of there being a hardcap on upgrading CL, and no training/weapon-enchants/etc to apply to the pulses.

They're all weak in a lot of areas. Skulls and Shackles has a good interesting but too many subsystems, you're going to wind up kludging them eventually. Shattered Star is neat, but you have to have a high propensity for non-fantasy bullshit in your fantasy game. Carrion Crown favors certain classes so hard you basically HAVE to build for it specifically, since it has such a strong skew of monster types.

I like Skulls and Shackles and Carrion Crown, myself. Pirate adventures are fun, and with a good group it can even be pretty light-hearted. But I don't get my fair share of Castlevania-esque adventure anymore anyways, so I'm game for that as well.

Going easy; Lv10: 16 dex 12 strength (20/14 with 2x levels and a +2 to both stats from belt): Damage bonus +2 to-hit bonus +5, BAB 7/2

once you've got your songs going you throw in Arcane Strike, use deadly aim of course, and rapid+manyshot

Even with a composite short +2 psychokinetic (1d4), with bracers of archery we're looking at at least 1d6+13+1d4 shot four times, five with haste, in PBS range, and we're barely even trying here. that's roughly 76 DPR for a completely typical, non-initiator monk, who's used less than half of his available WBL.

I'm sure someone less sleepy can actually make one that doesn't suck.

Fallout: New Cimmeria is pretty fun

I'm cooking up a new character since my old one died, and I came up with something... different.
Somebody please give me solid reasons to not play it. I can't think of any, but it's so non-standard I'm sure there'll be some kind of big issue with it in-game that I can't foresee right now.

In short, the character is a half-ogre Warlord named Smash. He's got 5 INT and 5 WIS. He's a Neutral Good "gentle giant" type of character. He speaks in the third person and doesn't know many big words. He's strong as fuck and willing to beat the shit out of anyone labeled a bad guy. He's naive and simpleminded, but he earnestly tries his best to be a good guy and a good friend.

What do you guys think could go wrong with this character? Aside from his pathetic Will save which I will shore up with Counters.

The Ungermaw is a tier 4-ish martial class that gets a bite attack and the Draw Breath ability at level 1. Draw breath forces all creatures in a small (but growing with level) cone to make a Fort save or be drawn closer to the Ungermaw, with a chance to drop them prone if they end up in an occupied square. Draw breath starts out at 1/day +Con mod, but gains uses through levels. In exchange for these abilities, the Ungermaw has to eat twice as much food as a normal character.

Starting at second level, Ungermaw gain Appetites, which are basically rage powers/rogue talents. Most of them make you better at grappling with your bite or eating magic, but some are more for utility, such as the ability to swallow a potion bottle whole to gain its effects as a swift action.

At 3rd level, Ungermaws can Exhale after they've used draw breath to blow other creatures away with more or less the same restrictions as Draw Breath.

As the Ungermaw levels up, it's bite attack gets stronger, more accurate, and able to ignore hardness. The Ungermaw is also able to eat non-foods to stay alive.

Eventuallly, an Ungermaw can use up Draw Breath uses to cast Dispel Magic, which eventually upgrades to Greater Dispel Magic and a quite expensive Mage's Disjunction at high levels.The Ungermaw also gets an altered version of Swallow Whole at 9th level, which deals less damage than most monster's Swallow Whole but has much less risk to the Ungermaw's survival if they try to cut their way out.

All in all, it's a neat concept with some useful abilities, but nothing game-breaking. It's one of my favorite classes from Gonzo, and it's hella fun to play.

I've kind of held off on giving Casimir a family, partially because that would make Casimir a few shades too old and partially because that doesn't really "offer" anything to either the story, the DM or the character. At most, it would give him one or two heartfelt moments writing a letter to his sons and daughters before promptly never seeing them again as we travel North into the Crown of the World.
