I honestly thought /tg/ would appreciate Undertale a lot more than it does. Taken at face value it's a pretty great exploration through a fairly interesting world (albeit somewhat surreal) again, the only part that really seems to offend /tg/ was the fanbase using weird genders.

Cringiest was probably my own back when I did online roleplaying when I was...fuck...13 I think? I still have no idea what the fuck I was thinking at the time.

No matter what online freeform roleplay thing I did, I always played the exact same character. A ninja who used dual ninjaken, throwing stars, and the ability to teleport and manipulate fire. He was also immune to heat and fire as a result, but hated cold weather. He was also immortal and hundreds of years old, though the reason for it changed depending on the setting, and spent most of the time trying to find some way to end it so he can die. Sometimes when I felt extra edgy I also had him infected with some flesh-eating virus that was slowly eating away at him, forcing him to slowly cover himself up more and more, sometimes turning himself into a cyborg to keep himself mobile.

I feel like I still had some self-awareness of how dumb my character and constant spamming of him was back then, because one guy organized a big crossover RP with us playing 2-3 characters from other RPs, so I basically played 3 copies of the above character who were all in a constant state of being too busy out-edging each other to actually do anything useful.

Strangely enough, no one seemed to mind because I still wasn't even the biggest faggot on that site. There were some dumb shit like "well I stole your ability to hide, so I know your exact location despite you being 5 miles away" level shit.

Honorable mention goes to one guy who was literally invincible and undefeatable unless someone had a specific sword. The sword was his own, and his justification for it was "Well they're supposed to read my mind, figure out my sword is my weakness, then take it from me and use it to kill me." He was the only time I remember people outright telling someone to fuck off with their bullshit character.

The longest running roleplay I used the guy for, his main adversary was revealed to be himself from the future(unrecognized because of the aforementioned cyborging himself), after he became bitter, jaded, and long since given up hope of finding a way to die.

His main goal was basically going back and attacking himself, hoping he'll eventually do something to trigger a time paradox that would finally erase him from existence completely, finding oblivion preferable to what he was currently going through.

'Land Before Time: Littlefoot x Cera' is probably the worst fic ever written in a kids' continuum, rivaled only by 'Agony in Pink.' Events in this 35+ chapter WIP can be summarised thus:

Littlefoot and Cera randomly have sex and decide that that means they're in love.

Littlefoot's grandparents are, like, totally cool with the sex, but once Littlefoot and Cera reveal they're in love, it's a big freaking deal, apparently.

Ali from Journey Through the Mists (who, thanks to possession by Sue-wraith, is a total slut and a bigot to boot) turns up and decides she wants Littlefoot for herself.

The rest of the fic seems to revolve around Littlefoot, Ali, and Cera having sex and beating each other up.

Major departures from LBT canon are as follows:

Cera is a nymphomaniac.

Everyone talks like they're in a third rate, poorly translated sexual psychology textbook.

None of the characters have any character.

It's hugely biologically inaccurate, simply anatomically as well as several other things that won't be mentioned in this public (and accessible to younger people) forum.

Didn't read the previous posts, but, in my opinion, Undertale is subject to somewhat similar criticism as Spec Ops: The Line.

Sure, there are differences (Undertale provides you an actual choice, for one), but both games roast you for "doing evil things" when all you are doing is exploring the entirety of the content of the game, and when the game gives you such an attitude, it's... laughable.

Moreover, said content is intended to be explored, said "evil things" are intended to be done by the player. I'd understand if a game berated you if you went out of your way to do something "evil" when it's not even required for any quest in the game.

But as it is, in Undertale literally half the content (and in Spec Ops - all of it) is dedicated to doing "evil" shit. What's the point of making a game that's designed to guilt-trip you? I mean, yeah, it's somewhat clever when it's done right (Silent Hill is good about things like that, for example), but when it's so "in-your-face", it loses any appeal it might've had.

Eh. Both of them really got me right in "hte feelz" first off, and I can still find 'em incredibly good at it, but when you pull yourself out of the immersion for even just a few moments you can already see how transparently it's screeching "m-muh morality" from the back seat.

Granted, they're both really good at keeping you in that zone where it gets to you - UT has the whimsical charm and god tier soundtrack while Spec Ops does it by putting it into a genre where you think you know what to expect - but the immersion of the former falls apart after only a few runs, and the latter does after just one.

I really don't get the angle here, playing undertale without killing shit is more fun, most of the characters got a chuckle out of me, if you're killing shit you're making the game less fun, and chastising a player for trying to achieve ultimate supreme badass level regardless of their enjoyment isn't something that should be a bad thing, beyond that the reaction of the world to the player makes sense, people would try to get the fuck out of dodge if there was a demigod killing everything it found.

There are plenty. Starting from the fact that it just happens in the setting the character is in and because it's just amusing shitpost (clown posse, seriously). Though even if it'd be OC made seriously and not based in the setting of a very lewd game where prostate massages or penetration are just things that happen - given how propagated are the ideas of non-heterosexual tendencies and other such stuff in many teenage, edgy communities (because sex is an adult thing and they're so adult and very mature for their age!) - thoughts about preventing certain situations like such don't really strike me as so weird.

It's a story of a circlejerk rpg group that decided to wallflower me for not appealing to their dicks online.

This liquid dude was a total mockery of the solid guy, facading badly a sterotypical version of him and his works simply because of asspats.

The owner was an "artist". She was caught tracing other worls and photographs and left to throw a fit and create a spiteful splintercell group. Everyone liked her and sucked up to them in high hopes

The one I was introduced too.

The mod and owner DOMINATED the scene every other character was just an npc in their eyes. They were obsessed with rape, the Russian mafia and exceptionally edgy posts. One day I was discussing with them that their obsessions were making everyone uncomfortable but the admin bopped me in the head say there was nothing I could do.

Obligated to come back to them I notice that one of them had written a post describing in graphic detail about how they were going to rape my character and I fucking blanched and never looked back.

It's a good game, if a bit simplistic. From a gameplay perspective, the Genocide Run is supposed to test your attachment to the characters. Give everyone their happy ending... then murder them all? It forces you to think about the attachments you make to the characters. What does it say about you if you did the Genocide run? Either that you don't care about the characters, you're a sociopath, or you can successfully disassociate yourself from the game world.
