Beginner blood bowl guy here. I was looking into joining the upcoming tg league, and ive decided i want to play chaos

However almost all of my experience is exclusively in singleplayer so I feel like when I started out with 6 Beastmen 1 Minotaur and 4 Chaos Warriors I went relatively un punished.

I've since looked up some starting out builds so I won't immediately be crushed if I do end up playing in the league. One of the builds I looked at suggested starting with 11 beastmen 4 rerolls and 9 fan factor, I thought that might be a good choice. My first game 2 players die and 2 more are injured against dwarves, and my 2nd game 2 more die and 2 more are injured. I won the first game and lost the second.. But I can't help but feel like I'm fucked now.

Is there a better way to look at starting lineup that I'm not seeing? I think I have most of the base mechanics down and priority lists etc, but more macro decisions are where i'm struggling at the moment. I don't really understand the significance of 9 fan factor or not taking some of the better players to start out, like chaos warriors.

It does, you add your fanfactor to the 2D6 rollto determine how many fans show up. If you scored higher you gain +1 FAME (+2 if you scored double your opponent) which is added to match earnings (through food, merchandise and Cabal Vision Ticket sales) and influences several kickoff results.

The field is 24 squares long and 15 squares wide, divided up into 4x12 and 7x12 segments, not counting endzones. Since everything is grid-based, the range ruler is actually completely superfluous, it just makes a handy quick reference for passing.
You can make the squares as large or as small as you want, but for reference, a 25mm base translates roughly to an inch, though you may want a little extra room to lay your figures flat on the ground (unless you're playing as an Elf team)

Do we know if we're getting any more plastic teams after dwarfs release next year? I know they've said that elves (pro, high, dark and wood) and nurgle will be getting releases, but has any word been said if some of those will be plastic, or are all the rest going to be forgeworld resin?

I like bb2, it's just that the game is very slow and often times feels boring. However the game is fun if you've been watching and playing football all your life (37+ years).

I guess I try bb1 again, but for some reason I've never been able to get the hang of it like 2. How does the vidya dumb down the tabletop version? I had thought these were translations of the board game.

Are there less "events"? Or are some of the dice rolls or the dice themselves different in anyway? I was playing the offline campaign in 2 and noticed (at least for the first few matchups) that the game sets up your players on the field for you. Is hat part of the negative reception?

Yeah, If you were going to spend a spare 20k or something on anything, it should be either Cheerleaders of Assistant Coaches, three of each usually means that you're getting an extra reroll whenever the Kick-Off result is a 6 or 8, which with Bell Curves being what they are should occur more than any other result.

I'm especially tempted to get a couple when I get enough for my Apothecary for my Slaan team this week. Slaan live and die by their ReRolls, and they're a high scoring team, meaning lots of rolls on that kick-off chart.

Eh, it depends on how much your RR's cost really. If you already have 4 and nothing else to buy you might as well sink 60k into it, it'll pay off in the end.

Again, Dwarves aren't going to see the advantage, but Slaan, Elves or Skaven for instance have got good odds of getting a reroll or two that they wouldn't normally have out of it, assuming they keep scoring.

WHY CYANIDE GETS NO TRACTION HERE

1) Money, not a huge deal borrow your mums credit card.

2) Teams, big deal, less so for BB1, but even compared to BB1 custom Rosters and stunties give fumbbl something extra

3) Rules, not a huge deal but seriously, that stadium stuff is shit. The inducement process is objectively worse, and did orcs really need a nerf?

4) Player base, BB1 loses, BB2 has the numbers but also has a majority of retarded man babies. To not have most of your games resolve into profanity laced gloating/bitching and concedes you have to join a restricted league . Fumbbl is basically one of those restricted leagues.

5) Servers, my heart is filled with rage over every d/c in a Cyanide game. As of the last time I played; no Cyanide game saved game states so a turn 15 server hiccup screwed you, either needed to be accepted as is or restarted.

6) Tournaments. This might be different now, but last time I looked into hosting a tournament in BB2 you could do a knock out or a full man round robin . 18 man round robin, 17 rounds. This is like the bare minimum effort to put into it and doesn't even support /tg/s main tourney type.

7) Customization- Pitches, player portraits, bio pages, records pages. A small concession for some, a major deal to others

8) Spectating- IMO the biggest difference. Let me tell you how you spectate in bb1.
Someone tells you they are playing>start game>log onto multiplayer>find right tab>search a list of all games going on> long ass load time>in game turn 0> now to have to hit + over and over to fast forward to the correct spot at maybe x4 speed?> Then you have to figure out when you get there and press -, because if you don't the players pretend that are still FFing and twitch out. Congrats! You're watching a game. I wonder if anyone else is watching?

BB 2 is a bit better that this, with no extra log In , a search bar and a command to skip forward to the action.
To spectate fumbbl you just click the link. Plus you have commands to see who else is spectating with you, can see if there are other spectators at all, sounds to express yourself or cheer/boo/ECT. plays. Plus a scheduling system, if people choose to use it.


I play BB2, I'm signing up for the BB2 league. BB2 has upsides. Here they are.

1) Graphics, this matters to some people way more than others(age thing?). It makes it easier to get people into the game and to follow the actions. Good times.

2) Variable Turn timers, This is great, and when used correctly can really set the pace for tournaments and give different events different feels.

3) More exposure and ecelebs and streamers- yay?

Thens there's the things that sound good but don't really work out.
*BB2 still has a development team and is still being worked on! But they don't do much else than release a few team every year.
*Voice Acting- voice "acting" repetitively.
*Single player- BB2 is crap, BB1 is laughably easy.


Am I missing anything? Other than Graphics and the inclusion it brings I don't see much worth it about BB2.

Why does the board include so many indicator tiles? Do we need 16 squares, 8 per player, indicating which turn it is? Why not use the D8 to keep track for both players and a coin heads/tails to indicate first/second half?

The board layout confuses me with how redundant some of it is while taking up so much space.

How about this model. Orcs v Humans, BB2 is free 2 play. You pay for access to the other races as currently. And you get the default pitch, which is basically a sand lot.

But the real draw is on player cosmetics. Allow content creators to submit hats but call them 'bits', let GW vett them, and allow people to deck out positionals with the swag. Also, offer these chests full of these swag bits to players for winning/completing games. Incentive not to drop out when a player gets seriously injured. Offer more for winning leagues.

So you can play orcs/humans. Or you can spend 10 bucks on your preferred race. Or however much for a season pass some games have that gives you all subsequent content for free.

You never have to pay for more than the race you want to play, so like 10 bucks, and if you're fine playing on sand pitch with default models, you're fine. But plenty of games have proven enough people are interested in extra bits to buy to sustain. All that matters is how quickly you can push out quality cosmetics and how they're acquired.

It's a java client, so pretty much anything can run it.

Basically the same as the video game, except a little more restrictive about player actions (which is according to the rules, you're supposed to declare if someone is doing something like a Pass, Handoff, or Foul before you start moving them - BB2 ignores this).

Check out the help link (https://fumbbl.com/help:) for fumbbl to learn some specifics, I definitely recommend booting the client up in test mode to get a handle on how you move players about and such in it.

From GW's perspective Blood Bowl isn't profitable.

Blood Bowl is GW's most played tournament game, the most popular specialist game by far, and the fact is that all these tournament coaches have teams, they have multiple teams, they don't need to buy more teams.

They might buy the new pitch because it comes with two sets of dice (which they have, although maybe not the d16s) a nice pitch (though most have nice neoprene mats which roll up and transport much easier) and nice plastic templates (which most people use a throwing grid for and still will use a throwing grid).

But a wood elf coach won't need a new wood elf team and once people buy a couple teams they probably won't buy more.

Sure they'll collect a star player or two maybe buy some big guys, but if all you're getting out of someone is $60-80 for a team and some more minis then GW doesn't want them in the store weekly playing blood bowl, because they won't get more money out of them.

It's why GW policy has banned blood bowl leagues and won't allow in store blood bowl come January when they ship all their unsold games to a warehouse. You can ask your local GW manager more about it.

But as I said, if GW smells money they could easily reneg on this and throw huge promotions for in-store leagues. Given that they have a christmas event for blood bowl lined up (tying in with the snow pitch) and the huge amounts of money they dropped on flags and other promotional garbage) it's really weird how little they're supporting the game.

There isn't anything quite like blood bowl that is as popular and doesn't have retarded rules. I hate the randomness aspect of the game and don't particular care for the american football aspect either, but there currently is no alternative.

Humans, Orcs, Dwarves, Wood Elves, Chaos, or Skaven are generally the teams I would recommend a new player to start trying and get a feel. The reason because these teams play pretty straightforward. Orcs and Chaos bash, Dwarves cage and "run" as do Humans but they can adapt to a passing game. Wood Elves and Skaven pass, run and dodge the fuck out of almost anything.

But honestly if I had to pick one i'd say you should stick to Orcs or maybe Humans and learn to get better at positioning.
