So /tg/ seems pretty knowledgeable about Heinlein. So does anyone know if the Mobile Infantry feature in any of his other novels or short stories? I only ask because the Federation itself is a reoccurring character/motif in stories besides Starship Troopers. Oh, and Robert A. Heinlein general thread

Militaristic Republic with compulsory military service for citizenship ? I don't see other examples but I may be wrong. Please explain

No, Heinlein novels are pretty self-contained

You've never actually read Starship Troopers, have you?

I don't think so. There are a couple Heinlein characters that reappear in a late book, but nothing from Starship Trooper.

I particularly like Double Star. It's original, well-written, good sci-fi.
Citizen of the Galaxy, Have Space Suit - Will Travel and the Puppet Masters are pretty good too.
And Jesus, did that man have an obsession with using time travel, cryogenization or FTL journeys to fuck his younger relatives.

It's been a few years since I've read the book, but as far as I remember, it took place in a militaristic republic where compulsory military service is indeed required for citizenship.

There are other stories with Federation military units going around doing things like invading the Moon or BTFO out of rebels on Venus, I can only assume that in Heinlein's mind these operations were spearheaded by cap troopers, but no such details are evident.
