Anyone who would seriously vote for trump needs help.
>>
>>50163322
Yeah it is unfortunate however the deck works really well, the synergy Archangel of Thune and Herald of War have with Atraxa make up for that fact tho imo.
>>
>>50163266
You're in green, and trying to do a hefty mana costed tribal and have little to no ramp.

Skyshroud Claim and Rangers Path are two things you should add. I think there's one more forest grabber but I can't recall at the moment. Land Tax would be a good idea too.

Other than that, how about Cryptic Gateway?

I'd also take Emeria out. The chances of you getting 7 Plains on the battlefield with the mana base isn't as likely. You'd rather have another land that checks for two.
>>
>>50163372
I would vote for Trump, because I don't live in USA, and I make money from Dollar going up and down.
>>
>>50163372

>>
>>50163372

As opposed to ironically voting for Trump?
>>
>>50163372
I voted for trump. Hopefully the teacup of America and Russia will be good enough to fuck up the world and finally make a single world government
>>
>>50163392
I could see the ramp being an issue. Might replace Phyrexian Tower(not sure why its in there other than the fact I own it) and something else with ramp. Land tax is in there.

Cryptic Gateway was in an earlier iteration. It's pretty good, and it was a toss up between it or Aether Vial. Might come back if Aether vial performs poorly.

Emeria is a flavor choice, and also combos with Prismatic Omen so its not all bad.
>>
>>50163517
*teamup my bad
I also play turbofog and stax
>>
Instead of totally derailing with politics, what decks would trump or hillary make? Trump feels like Ruhan of the formori wall tribal? Hillary could be grand arbiter agustin or thalia tax n stax?
>>
>>50163372
Not American, but I would have voted Trump.

Trump is too dumb to do any lasting damage, everyone will resist his stupid ideas as much as they can.
It will hopefully be a wakeup call to the democrats and maybe even more people will go libertarian.

Hillary however is the incarnation of the sly and corrupt politician.
She will do what benefits her and her sponsors in the end, however she will be able to pass it through, she isn't retarded.

It's basically choosing between chaotic neutral and lawful evil.
>>
>>50163549
Trump and putin would start a war fighting over their dick size within a week
>>
>>50163550

Scientific studies have concluded America is no longer considered a democracy, but an Oligarchy. (As if it wasn't obvious, but now there's a report on it to cite sources).

https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/perspectives-on-politics/article/testing-theories-of-american-politics-elites-interest-groups-and-average-citizens/62327F513959D0A304D4893B382B992B

Best legendary land just from a general standpoint? too bad it's banned. :^)

Anyway, for a complete beginner, which commander 2016 deck would you guys recommend?
>>
>>50163882

Erebos or maybe planeswalker ob nixils.
>>
>>50163900
yeah i'd recommend erebos too. what you do is you typically save most of your mana on your turns, and then cast all kinds of instants on other people's turns. prior to your next turn, you dump all your excess mana in erebos' draw ability. a lifegain theme works well

not sure it's a very viable way to do monoblack, but that's how control erebos works

>"There's a published paper that say it so that makes it factual"

No Anon.

No.

That's not how that works.

Hell, I even agree that America is basically an oligarchy, but some schmucks with a degree saying it doesn't make me believe it any more than I already did.

The most inane horseshit gets published in """Scientific Journals""" for the humanities.
>>
>>50164038
No, America not being a democracy was already really obvious long before that paper came along.
>>
>>50164049
>>50164038
Woops, basically repeated what you said there, and I agree that "scientific journals" can be bullshit, I actually recently listened to a podcast which actually discussed people making fake scientific journals as experiments to see if anyone would react.

It does however give it more credibility for when people start asking you to cite shit.

How many signets should be going in a four colour deck? I have mardu signets in for Breya atm.
>>
>>50165556

10 signets in one deck is not fine Anon.
>>
>>50165525

Nope!

Actually, I rebuilt it for a tournament. Lots of ramp, recursion, and fetch. Included Nicol Bolas because, why not? Didn't do too badly. But like I said in the comments, I keep it out of sentiment.
>>
>>50165598

if your breya deck is anything like mine, then blue is the most important color, and mardu signets actually sounds actively bad. if there are 6 signets you can run in breya, you chose the worst 3, and are missing the best 3

of course your list might be different than mine, but i think blue is the most important artifact color, no?

>>
>>50165381
I can't imagine it would have anything to do with Breya being Esper, the Artifact Shard, colored. Or that she comes with Daretti, the Red Artifact Planeswalker.
Or that green only likes getting rid of Artifacts
>>
>>50165643
You may have a point. I only have the Izzet atm, but I could easily get my hands on Azorius and Dimir too. Would it be advisable to run four? Maybe with Orzhov as the fourth? As there are a lot of Esper cards in my build.
>>
>>50165381
The Duel Decks version. I actually like the art.

I like Breya's precon more and I like red more for the artifact interaction it gives me than green.

Four sounds reasonable, especially since Breya lets you use them as sac fodder mid-late game.

Funny how the build I am brewing is kind of similar.
Some stuff to consider: Dispatch, Thirst for Knowledge, Thada Adel, Master Transmuter, Sharding Sphinx, Skeleton Shard, Scrap Mastery(this one is critical in case someone wipes artifacts).

Also, in EDH I usually prefer Anguished Unmaking over Vindicate, since 3 life is almost always worth it being instant speed, and I don't remember the last time I needed to exile a land with it.

Artifact and Aura Mutation. Depending on your meta you want a fair bit of artifact/enchantment hate.

95% of Sunforger targets are staples for the colours anyway so you'd do well to run it. Call and ETutor are hovering around $10 last I checked. White creature removal is obvious.

Faith's Reward needs to played on the same turn, so if you don't have the mana, you won't be able to easily recover your lost artifacts.

Also, Scrap Mastery has a second utility, if you sac all your artifacts, you can return all the artifacts you had in grave AND switch all your opponents artifacts(most of the time, they lose all their mana rocks)

Actually yawg's bargain is significantly more powerful than necropotence in edh, you ramp into it and win either that turn of the next guaranteed, whereas necropotence has the awkward timing restriction, and on top of that triple black pips mostly cancels out the benefits of the difference in cmc because you can't use colorless artifact mana to ramp into it

Also necropotence is on the cusp on bannable to begin with, much more broken than fucking deadeye nav

So let's say my 3-color deck has 36 lands, and 9 ways to make mana (6 rocks, 1 dork, 2 ways to search for basics). Is this an alright number of mana fixers? Is it more important to have more rocks or more lands? Should I take out some rocks and replace them with lands?

Basically, how many of your mana sources do you think should be non-land in a typical EDH deck?
>>
Bargain is stupid as fuck

Any two pieces of fast mana let's you play it on turn 2 which guarantees you win on turn 3 if it resolves, because you can draw ~30 cards at instant speed before you untap at which point it should be quite easy to assemble a combo win

Notice how that doesn't work as easily with necropotence because if you want to draw ~30 that means exiling ~28 cards before you have a chance to use any of them

It's still possible to find a cheap two piece combo and exile the rest, could be bannable, but it's not as versatile

Also bargain is even dumber on turn 6 in like a sultai deck after you ramped a ton, you can likely win right there because you'll have mana to spare

Another stupid interaction is academy rector

I have a rules question /EDHG/:
Let's say I have a Faerie Artisan in play, and it created a copy of grizzly bears. Then my opponent plays an avenger of zendikar. With my faerie artisans trigger on the stack I sacrifice it. Do I get to keep the bears when I get my avenger?
>>
>>50168787
Your opponent does not get priority after it resolves, you do, and you activate the ability, which returns it to your hand as a part of the cost. Your opponent can respond to the ability on the stack, but Recurring Nightmare is already back in your hand as it's a part of the cost of activating the ability and not a part of the ability itself.
>>
>>50168788
Are you asking if sacrificing the Artisan will make the trigger already on the stack...half resolve?
>>
>>50168788

In that scenario your grizzly bears are exiled but you get a token avenger of zendikar that won't be exiled by any faerie artisans ability, even if you replay the faerie
>>
>>50168816
I am asking if since the faerie has left play if it is treated as a different object when resolving the trigger. I already know for instance, that if while the avenger was still on stack as a spell and I sacrificed the artisans with a Mikaeus in play, I would get both. I do not know whether it checks if the faerie is a different object when the ability triggers or if it checks when it resolves, just that it does one or the other, and that I guess is the crux of the problem..
>>
>>50168892
No. It knows what things that specific Faerie Artisan made. It's not going to suddenly start looking at what things the Faerie Artisan in the graveyard made.
>>
>>50168843
So it checks if it's the same artisans when the ability triggers? Can you tell me what part of the wording makes it that way so I can resolve this kind of problem in the future with other cards?
>>
>>50168729
Doran Trump, wall tribal
>>
>>50168907
Whenever a card refers to itself by name, it means "This exact specific object". Any future Artisans you play (even if it's that same one that you recurred from your graveyard) are different objects, so they won't see that Avenger token as "tokens created with THIS EXACT OBJECT".
>>
>>50168907

The last phrase on the card faerie artisans says exile all other tokens created by faerie artisans, faerie artisans is the name of the card and when a creature's rules texts used the card name, that name refers to that specific instance of the creature

If the ability was going to exile all tokens created by any faerie artisans, including flickered ones or reanimated ones or cloned ones or multiple copies in another format, it would say "exile all tokens created by cards named faerie artisans"

I win 80% of my games by doing small nice things for the stronger players then having them make what they think is a small favor for me before I outright win with a board swing or smash their face and bring it down to a 1v1 where I'' almost guarunteed to win.

Not the same guy but I never do anything overtly political like that, and I win plenty

We are political in the sense that everybody knows working together to stop the person who is currently closest to winning is the only way

Some of my wins are just an outright blowout, like I ramp really hard and the table can't come up with enough disruption before they get squashed, even though I'm archenemy

Other wins are when somebody else is archenemy in the early mid game but we do come up with enough disruption to stop them, and then I manage to seize the throne after answers/disruption have been used up

Some times there are multiple power shifts throughout the game

But I never do anything like "if you don't kill my commander I promise not to kill your planeswalker"

>Now none of us can untap anything and we watch Derevi play Solitaire for 20 turns and bitches if we try to scoop and start a new game.

My group has the worst fucking threat detection. Yeah, obviously I'm in it to win it as well, but I'm the kind of person who likes winning all-at-once or within the course of a few turns. Primarily because I know how much is sucks to be the one person in a pod that gets knocked out an hour before anyone or how irritating it is to watch the one guy combo masturbate for 20 minutes every turn.
>>
>>50169236

Prophet ban as I understood it was because it allowed players to continually have access to mana to counter/protect anything... much like the deadeye infinite engines.
>>
>>50169223

Deadeye doesn't really dodge removal very easily though, it only dodges removal if you werent prepared with instant speed stuff when it came down

Also there are no "lol ezpz" deadeye combos that don't involve landuntapping, everything else is super mana intensive
>>
>>50168512
There are so many cards that are only banned because people abuse them.
Sylvan Primordial was bae, but of course there were the people who abusively flickered it and ruined it for everyone.

Still, I agree that if a card can be abused it should be banned.
Honestly if deadeye navigator was banned I wouldn't be surprised if prime time and the likes were unbanned. A good day that would be.

I'd unban Sway of the Stars though. 10 mana: win the game is not a strange concept to commander (see: Tooth and Nail, which is only 9)
>>
>>50169285
Sway of the stars and the cards similar to it aren't banned because you could win with them (and you would need a hell of a lot more than 10 mana to be in a good situation when you resolve sway) it's because of the obnoxiousness of the spell. People that want spells like this to be playable have never been in a game where shaharazad has resolved multiple times. It sounds like it could be fun, but it's really fucking awful.
>>
>>50169189
>Things my friends do that I hate
I have one particular friend that gets really ... really pissed if:
a) he doesn't win
b) he wins but not flawlessly
c) he is chosen as a target for anything during the course of the game
d) you retaliate when he targets you

So as a result I try and ignore him overtly ... while actually paying very close attention to what he does so that I can deal with him unexpectedly.

I'm sure that particular friend, if he notices I do it, hates that.

>My circle is like a cold war
Same ... and I'm the idiot that tends to cast the "simply won't do" spell so maybe that's another thing that would garner me some salt
>>
>>50169490

Shahrazad is shit because it's so arduous to get through, sway of the stars doesn't extend the game it makes it end faster
>>
>>50169572
Your boardstate is reset as well as the life total, you understand that right? Even if people get lethal hands it's still going to be 4+ turns before anyone starts dying, which is slower, since most of the time the game is ending when people have the mana for stuff like sway in the first place.

I was considering warden of the beyond, but Vigilance is a touch of a nonbo with Anafenza.
There's the Eldrazi Processors, and Wasteland Strangler is good. Blight Herder and Ulamog's Despoiler are on-theme I guess, but I don't want to put cards back too much.
Other than that, I can't find much that works with exile that doesn't just interact with my exiled zone ie: Riftsweeper, Wishes, or Pull from Eternity

My group generally has a slow build up with the occasional bit of aggression (swing with a small creature, target a key piece of a combo with disruption or removal, counter a certain spell) until someone drops that spell that shifts the game dramatically (Prossh, Skittles, Aurelia, Bruna 1.0, Deadeye + Great Whale, Niv + any sort of protection). Then that guy usually becomes the target.

My meta relies on commanders pretty heavily, although we all have 1 or 2 back up plans for when they become too expensive or otherwise unusuable.

To me, abusing a card is breaking it beyond its intentions, or using a card to MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY. Have you seen a kemba deck cast sigardas aid t1 and puresteel paladin t2? In an all equipment deck? I'd say That's abusing puresteel and aid once they start doing work. Another example is playing endrek sahr and getting 30 counters on aetherworks marvel, only to keep the counters continually above 20. It's working BEYOND intended and performing at peak levels. Abusing the card.

The only other way I have heard people use the term"abusing a card" is pairing it into an infinite combo or the like.

If you want a fun interactive deck that won't piss your friends off, go with kraj and plenty of weird Simic creatures and polymorph spells.

If you want to play something a different flavor, try going the semi mill route with lazav. Your win con in this is NOT mill, but using mill to get lazav into something big.

Or if you really like mill, go Phenax and really mill people to death.

If you want artifacts, go padeem/muzzio/arcum.

Go to edhrec and narrow your options down there.

On one of the sites I usually buy singles, it lists Atraxa as Foil and normal, is there even a nonFoil Atraxa? Because it's like, half the price.
>>
>>50173362
Are the legends this year foiled? I though the foils were the oversized cards.

Foil one is oversized. Nonfoil is the regular sized version that's an actual Magic card.

I always wanted to build a land deck and then I found these beauties. I don't mean a green ramp and goodstuff deck with lots of lands. I mean a land deck. Where I do things like turn all my lands into creatures for the turn and swing at mostly empty boards while I hide behind ward of bones and blinkmoth nexus + buffs to block the one or two creatures they have. But, is this actually a realistic plan in edh?

Zedruu was my first commander, although I built her a little differently from how she's typically built. If it's not already on your list, Brand is essential.

Another tip is to have a couple token generators so you can donate 1/1s. Also creates with ETB effects only are great donation targets because you get the benefits, and they only get a chump blocker. This guy is one of my favorites. He can shut down people early on if they're struggling on mana.

Also, it's worth mentioning that the game changes drastically when it comes down to 1v1. You want a way to take back your cards then. Like the aforementioned Brand.

A 5c deck can accomodate litterally any archetype you like. dont use the existing 5c commanders as inspiration because theyre mostly tribal or garbage or tribal garbage.

Ive seen 5c artifacts featuring reaperking, 5c lands featuring child of alara, 5c tier 1 foodchain combo featuring tazri, 5c superfriends featuring cromat, 5c creature type tribal featuring sliver queens. reanimator, enchantress, tokens, you name it.

5 colour decks get around the restrictions of the shitty commanders by the fact they can play the very best card in the format for every slot.the best ramp, the best removal, the best tutors, the best draw.

When you build 5colour deck, the world is your oyster. it really can be as simple as picking an archetype, finding the very best cards ever printed for said archetype, and shoving them underneath a cromat.
>>
>>50173461
Other commanders you may want to consider are:
Titania for land saccing stuff
Kamahl, Fist of Krosa can turn lands into saprolings and overrun as activated abilities
Baru, Fist of Krosa shit out lands to make your creatures huge

In RG you have
Borbymogos Enraged pitch lands deal damage
Omnath, Locus of Rage shit out lands obtain elementals

And in BG:
Gritog horror sac or pitch lands to draw

You didn't give us anything to go off of in the format with the most diversity. So I didn't respond.
You basically went into an ice cream store and said pick something for me without telling me anything about what you like. How the fuck could I pick what flavor you like.
Commander is about building decks around mechanics or colors you like, so please give us even the slightest bit of a hint of how to help you.
>>
>>50174789
He could seriously just be lucky. The fact that you are coming here to try to prove that he is cheating speaks volumes, as does the fact that by your own admission he does not get this shit in literally every game.

Seriously, just do deck cuts if you are worried about it.

Unban:
Chaos Orb, Falling Star

Hardly broken, if anything it would add to the fun of the format.

Ban: Mana Crypt

I'm fine with banning sol ring instead, but mana crypt is less available so it's my pick. Having access to much colorless ritiuals just turns to many games into, whoever doesn't get the turn 1 sol ring looses.
>>
>>50174925
The reason they are banned is because you can't make the rules clear enough regarding these cards.

By the rules you can't actually tap permanents while a chaos orb is in play, since it is "arranging cards." It is definitely not the intent, and if WotC felt like it I am sure they could write a few dozen pages on the actual practices of the card, so it could be used, but they haven't. So it should stay banned.

Another vague thing about chaos orb is that "you cannot physically interfere in any way with the casting of this card" Which creates some bazaar states, since you can't actually breath out (since you breathing out could move the cards a bit) to speak to say, counterspell it. However since it is only the casting of the card you can't interfere with, once you activate the ability and toss the card your opponents can actually smack it across the room before it lands.

There are oversized foils of the main commanders, and each of their normal sized cards are also foil. I'm not sure if each of the partner commanders are foil, but from what WotC said, it's assumable that they are foiled as well.

Pretty fun if you ask me.

She promotes big plays from everyone at the table. Ppl either take advantage of her and kill her before my turn but are focused for it or if they do not kill her, I get to steal/copy their stuff with the trigger on my turn or just bounce them.

The trick is that she never comes when I do not have a way to get rid of their stuff or simply clone/copy otherwise I'd have to rely on someone else to deal with the problem I am to blame for in the first place xD

If she phases out with an aura called Vanishing it's turns to archenemy

My deck has tricks such as time stop, has bounce stealing effects, clones, artifacts, a trinket mage package, treasure mage package and a Grozoth package which Ive been dropping recently

It wins with mindslaver taking whoever maybe the biggest threat, or with someone elses creatures or with old beats

Gather specimens wins games too

On the actual card that I forgot to comment, I think it is medíocre for Trostanni... I can see it being played in Teysa Orzhon scion deck or my Radiant archangel deck.

I mean, it's a prety good card in by itself, but Trostanni to me appeals for lifegain shenanigans or populate huge ass tokens because she is not Rhys the redeemed!

As you see, if you got Trostanni and only 2 more creatures you gain 4 life total... and you have to invest mana to get a lowsy 1/1 spirit that flies.
You're better off playing Geint honored monk for five mana for that matter!

It's fun to see diferent things although it's the same general.
Everyone seems to have a infinite deck of somesort. Heck, a selesnya deck may even fit na infinite life combo too if I wanted too... but when ppl do get tired of those games and I get to play Trostanni she becomes one of the most enjoyable decks to play with, I'm just so glad the damn card exists.
