Is bolt action still a thing?
Does anybody play?
Any advice for someone who wants to get into it?

There are a few around me though most just play flames of war.
People in my lgs like bigger battles though. So smaller skirmish games are not as common.

dice+2d6
Rolled 3, 2 = 5 (2d6)

Yep. Just got a new edition too.
The "competitive" retards got bored with it but it's still pretty popular here in the Midwest.
Advice-wise, the "build-an-army" deals on the website are pretty awesome. Got a particular nation in mind?

I'm a toss up between German and Soviet.
I'm leaning towards Germany for the astetics. Them sexy tanks tho

Well, I'd start with a box of the Grenadiers(the "German Infantry" are an older/worse kit), a medium mortar team, and a Panzer IV.
The really iconic heavy beasts like the TIger can be albatrosses, so maybe get those later for "fun" lists and big games.

What books are the most current, rules and army books?
I just got into it OP. I like it a lot by far my favorite wargame but I haven't played many anyway.
Game's super easy to play, outside of order dice all you'll need is d6's. Army deals are cheap as fuck.
Ask away OP. Any questions I have the mk2 rules on hand.

Everything is current except for the newest mk2 rule book and the new mk2 german army book coming out soon.
i like the crazy models you can build.
