Iron Warriors, of course.

This way you have a surprising amount of freedom when it comes to the fluff of Your Dudes. It's pretty cool, actually.

Their rules allow them to ignore ranged morale, so footslogging them is a somewhat viable choice, but as always, watch out for pie plates and AP3.
>>
>>50093848
Sons of horus. OG Space Gansters are sick.
>>
>>50093893
Do you prefer shooty or choppy? SoH are close-range shooty and choppy, IW are all-around shooty
>>
>>50093848
>>50093870
I think it also depends on how skilled of a painter you are, the SoH scheme looks great when done right, but you need to know how to get that seafoam green and edge highlighted black on justaerin.

iron warriors, silver is easy to make pop on the table if you're inexperienced. stormhost silver for edge highlights and a varnish over it makes a huge fucking difference when a light is on it.

fluff and crunch-wise though? Fuck IW go SoH.
>>
>>50093893
>>50093919
Well SoH are shooty and choppy. IW excel at shooting everything, but get really made with Perty and can get really punchy when needed

I was thinking of 30k's 75pts T4 WS3 guy with a laspistol, not 40k's W3 Independent character with artificer armour and shaft-driven legs.
But you are right. I simply forgot about this guy when Satarael, Scoria, Draykavac, Magi Prime, Malagra, Archmagos Dominus and Reductor already exist. I mean, if regular Domini are powerful sages, those guys I just mentioned are outright MONSTERS.
>>
>>50093836
>>50093863
Thanks for the kind words. The black is Rustoleum "Painter's Touch" black primer, with two thin coats of Vallejo Game Colour Black. I thin it 1:1 with Thinner Medium, and also use a wet palette so it gets a little more from that. The primer black is very matte, but the VGC Black goes on quite shiny.

I'm not sure if I'm going keep it shiny (I do like clean marines) or matte it down and add weathering.
>>
>>50093942
>>50093919
I like the concept of fielding tons of marines and Zerg rushing a foe but I also think rapid deploying shock troops is pretty cool.

Don't SoH excel at Deep Strikes?
>>
>>50093978
>fielding tons of marines and Zerg rushing a foe
World eaters are the best CC marine rush legion
>Don't SoH excel at Deep Strikes?
Yeah, they can take slightly cheaper dreadclaw drop pods as dedicated transports and have amazeball 2w legion terminators
>>
>>50093978
Fluffwise they do, they're the tip of the spear, and crunchwise they have Deepstrike out of the ass with RoWs, Abaddon (oovercosteeeed) and Horus, as well as Justaerins.
Fluffwise the IWs also do termies and zerg rushes, as well as MkIII, and crunchwise Golg and/or Perty can pull the deepstriking terminatorwing just as well.
>>
>>50093978
The black Reaving shows Justaerin to teleport, both Abby and Horus allow a termie unit to teleport with them. Bunch of units can by dreadclaws. Many troop options including termies, reavers and vets. Orbital assault RoW would put them in close range for buffs to shooting.
>>

2bh, Iron Warriors feel like they haven't much stuff going on. The Hammer of Olympia's Disordered charges after Rapid fire isn't that good, same with the Ironfire's Fearless bonus. And the Tyrants are Heavy support termies, so they compete with Iron Havocs. And their LA rule only allows them to die without complaining, as well as Shrapnel bolts being almost useless.
>>
>>50094061
Why would anyone agree to play a list like this...?
>>
speaking of forgeworld orders, I was planning on ordering something over the weekend...is the dreadclaw kit really that much of a bitch to make? I made a welfare dreadclaw for my imperial fists and it looks fine, but I don't feel like having that many conversions outside my inductii for my world eaters. basically what I'm saying is dubs (or reasonable explanation) pick my forgeworld purchase.

>>
>>50093938
Not him, but the only reason I was never sold on SoH was the lack of fluff. It's all 'Muh Horus' or 'Muh Cthonia'. I'd legit love to learn more about them, but I look around and can't really find much. I love thier colors, I love their rules, but I don't love their fluff. Crunch-wise, the only good thing about SoH are Maloghurst, Abbadon, Horus, and the Justaerin. Their rules are good, but I wouldn't say game changers.

The same could be said of Iron Warriors crunch-wise, but Pert, Tyrants, and Havocs, as well as Kyr Vhalen and Golg are all great characters and units. The IW rules allowing for ignoring ranged morale is great in the shooting edition that is 7th. Fluff-wise, the Iron Warriors have a surprising amount written about them and a good amount of it is written decently to great. Angel Exterminatus being one of the most cited sources, and any book with Dantioch, the original loyalist IW that everyone loves. In AE, Pert is humanized to a degree the reader can sympathize with, which is a great thing.

>>50093978
IW are great at sending tons of marines to their deaths/victory, especially with their ignoring ranged morale which will save you points from vexillas if you were going to buy those in the first place.

SoH are great at deepstriking, and do have their own drop-pod. But screw assembling that thing man. Horrid kit.

>>50094076
Sadly this is true. Ignoring ranged morale is their only good selling point. And Perturabo. And their characters. And the fluff. But on the tabletop, most of their stuff is pretty meh. But I play them for the fluff, not the rules. I just try to take advantage of the rules as much as possible in order to write a list that will work out.

>>50094061
Why would anyone ever agree to play against this. This is pure cancer and unless for a tournament, this would never be recieved well.

>>50094093
They are indeed, that hard, KA.
>>
>>50094080
It's ok, someone will simply bring like three 6-Kraken Tank Hunter BS5 Lightnings, and without Vultarax the Mechanicum cannot counter air. This man simply wants to ascend people and liberate them from their fleshy bodies. To have them ascend and become the Ultimate Craters!

That's...a tough one. S10 punches/S6 Paragon blade sounds lovely, especially when you can reduce the enemy's Toughness by -2 on your own while you yourself are a T6 Hardened 2+/3++ W4 IWND monster.
And the fear when it can all be lost if the enemy nigga rolls a 6 on his Paragon Blade because he's only I4.
Otherwise, you could use him mostly base, with a Machinator array to repair stuff, near your siege engine to grant it Master of Destruction to a single weapon.

Historically, grenadiers and other such "elite" troops were chosen based on imposing size. They die to bullets just the same because a 5'6" dude and a 6'6" dude are both T3, but the later got a place as ceremonial guards and such, simply because they wear the uniform better.

What's the best way to turn my Prospero MKiii's into breachers? Is there a kit I can buy somewhere? Are the parts easy to recast?
>>
>>50094636
Well, point being that in the bolter arms it's assumed that the bolter comes over the hand. But on the shield the bolter is intended to position further from the hand, so it'd be at an angle on the other arm. Of course you can cut more of the arm, but then you'll have a marine with different length arms.

No. FW said that they aren't doing a Breacher upgrade kit either in responce to anon's email, as they already have a Breacher unit available.

If you remove both the Plasma tac's and Heavy Support's power daggers, will you be able to equip the Ass sgt with a power dagger + power fist combo? If the first two squads get in combat you're doing it wrong.
Also, what is Dynat contributing to your army? The Laser Rapiers aren't getting +1 to Damage because they won't be in the enemy's deployment zone (UNLESS...), Javelins don't gain the bonus either since they are neither infantry nor dreads, and wherever you place him he'll be the only power weapon wielder.
I think Skorr could serve you better.

>>
>>50095659
Dynat is there for the warlord trait to deep-strike the 10 veterans + apothecary next to the damned thallax with there-goes-one-unit weapons and hopefully rapid-fire that stupid thing to death with hot plasma. Taste of its own medicine and all that. Also to provide a cognis-signum for the plasmagunners without having to take a MoS.

I want to keep the assault marines as cheap as possible and just be a gaint annoyance. They should not end up against things that also want to be in close combat if possible.

>>50095649 Mechanicum
>>
>>50095754
Yeah, bit of medium goes a long way with grey and white. For armour without many large, flat panels (like 2 or 3, not sure about plastic berserkers) you can get away with washing the entire model with the blue/black mix straight on the white undercoat, instead of worrying about doing the grey and washing only the recesses. With mkIV you're better off following Duncan's orders to the letter. The most important thing to bear in mind is making sure the grey is smooth and the wash is only in the recesses, and you'll be fine.

I think Terminators are different in their view because the ones they sell aren't "complete packages", they're sold with bodies as one kit and arms/weapons as another.

Similarly, heavy weapons and seeker bolter upgrade kits are A-OK to make based on BaC marines since their resin equivalents come without weapons, but assault marine/destroyer/breacher upgrade kits are no-no because everything you need is included in those respective base kits.

Destroyers seem really overpriced but fit Death Guard very well so I feel like I need a squad.

What would be the best way to run them? Jump packs seem to be a bad fit with DG but they do not have any other decent way to scoot around sans buying a LR for an already expensive squad.

Is there any reason to not just add a second pistol to the mkII assault marines? mkII fits better with DG than the mk4 destroyer kit.

I will say that Plasma against Thanatar robots is probably not a great idea, as you are wounding on 5s and they have 4 wounds and a decent invulnerable save. Your opponent might also have a Cyber-Occularis nearby to give it interceptor, in witch case you would probably take sizeable casualties without a Drop Pod.
Any instant death weaponry will probably be best, but they are slow and very vulnerable to getting tarpitted by any real no. of bodies.
If my Thanatar gets locked in combat, about my only option is to blow it up to try to kill its attackers, still not a great trade and I need to pass Ld7 just to use that if I don't have a unit nearby to break it out.

Recasting is worse, simply because we should support the hobby to keep it alive and stop them doing shitty GW stuff

However, trying to say there's only one way to play this game (a game of fun) and any other way other than the most expensive, autistic and awkward way of doing it is detrimental to the hobby
>>
>>50100749
That's a lot more than I expected. Most people I've seen who are itching to start a new army in the same game system usually has less than half of their current stuff painted, which is a stupid trap to fall into.
>>
>>50100786
I see no objective problems with either. If anything I'm happy about the boxed games because fuck resin.
>>
>>50100789
Sinking more points into an apothecary to barely improve immortals would be wasteful if you could honestly. They're already tough
>>
>>50100876
People don't buy enough of them since plastic ones exist and they can't keep everything they make in stock, something has to go so new kits can come take their place.

Besides, I'm pretty sure it's just the ancient Vanquisher models that are gone, Admech has made 2nd generation imitation Vanquishers. And failing that, just make long barreled battle cannons with anti-tank shells, those had same stats as Vanquishers, just shorter range (which today are the same anyway) and BS3 (mostly because Vanquishers had more experienced crews).
>>
>>50100786
The origin of a model doesn't matter as long as the model looks good. It's the people half-assing it that are making the source look bad.

There's a moral component to buying recasts but that's too subjective to make sweeping statements about.
>>
>>50100942
Yeah, I swore an oath to always have my WE as close to 100% painted as possible, and I'm finally in a position where I have 3000 pts almost completely painted.

Which kind of brings me back to my original question. Templars, Angels, or responsibility? I never see any Angels players around, and they're very tempting.

From a different Anon. I am also quite confused about apothecaries (and primus medicae, for that matter). From your posts, if I have a unit with FnP, say 5+, as gorgons and immortals, and attach a narthecium to them, I understand that they get another 6+ FnP on top of their original one. Did I get that right?

Hey Anon´s - i have some questions as a total beginner:

1. Which unit´s are worth using for the Rewards of Treason rite

2. Is the The Domitar-Ferum any good? And would it be possible (if any good) to use it in the Rewards of Treason rite?

3. Are Cataphractii Termis any good with Claw + Volkite chargers or are there better Options for me since i could take Tyrant Siege Terminators with me (Rite of War Unit)?

>inb4 Saturnine
FFFUUUUUUU-
>>
>>50101154
No sadly. The apothecary just gives fnp 5+ via wargear, doesn't improve. So units like immortals with it stock don't get anything from have an attached medic.

Basically, unless the rule says " if the unit already has a better and this improves the fnp" it doesn't stack.

Actually Lernaean Terminators are 3 points more expensive than the base cost of the loadout they have, but they gain Stubborn in return.
They do lose a little flexibility on the close combat side (only fists and chainfists, no lightning claws), but can take Conversion Beamers as heavy weapons rather than the Reaper Autocannon.

Alright, /hhg/, since the Create A New Dreadnought was more successful than I thought it would your homework tonight is create a new flyer. >>
>>50101820
Only if you swap his axe for a Fist or Chainfist, as the dagger is a Specialist Weapon, so to count as a 2nd one the main one needs to also be a Specialist Weapon, and Axes (or base power weapons in general) are not.

I’m not sure Sigismund will be involved in the Siege.

If you don’t post more about what you like, we can’t really help you except to tell you what we like ourselves. I say White Scars – their rules are strong and they have stronger Black Library novels than the IF or BA. They’re surprisingly sane. Some were defending the palace – they weren’t all on bikes – while others went after the Emperor’s Children who were attacking Terran civilians. They joined up with the remnants of the 1st Terran Tank Regiment and took back one of the two main spaceports, cutting the flow of Traitor reinforcements. And they had fun all the while.

>wait 9 days for replacements
>they send me the wrong fucking parts

>In another order they forget to include items

Im getting pretty fucking tired of this Forgeworld

How about you lurk moar, namefagging is not viewed favourably anywhere on 4chan

Hey, soon you'll have two mastodons!

Speaking of, anyone got any valkyries? Do they all have a dent on the hull next to the side doors? Like someone just pressed on it when it was soft? I bought a pair of valkyries a while back and both kits had them, big ones. I complained and got 2 more kits, with same dents of pretty much equal size. Later decided to buy some new sides from a bits store and they too had the same dents, though not as prominent.

So now I got 8 pairs of valkyrie sides, all with dents on them.

Dont go crazy buying units to use in ROW's, as you can only ever have one at a time. Its best to pick units that could easily be something else- I.E. these heavy support dudes with ML are iron havocs today, these recon dudes are mor dethyans today, these bolter termies are justarens today. Save that truly unique unit for something that's really cool looking to you that has no "generic" equivalent model.
>>
>>50103045
Forgeworld is the little orphan leper child of online ordering. Don't bully them, they're trying.

what legion's that mastodon for, anyways?
>>
>>50103075
Nah, I've lurked in /k/ looking for Tank threads. You usually can't find a thread with at least a namefag.
>>50103098
Same. What's it for?
>>
>>50103045
When you say "sticky", do you mean a lot of release agent or that the actual resin itself is gooey?
>>
>>50103098
EC eventually

>>50103112
release agent is greasy

These parts were sticky, like soda had been spilled on them. And they were soft enough to mark with my fingernail
>>
>>50103030
The Termis should punch my opponent in the face - mele or ranged - and like i said i would have an Spartan if needed

SInce you asked me how i wanna play:"Got first turn? I'll infiltrate and extensively reduce my deployment. Got to go second? I'll change tactics, and aim for the seize." kinda...

I am only a bit mad that ‘Iron Circle’ Domitar-Ferrum Class Battle-automata´s are not worth to take as Rie of War since you guys said that they are not so good...
>>
>>50102971
I recommend playing several games before deciding. See what your list needs, and pick that. That said, the most common choices for AL’s Rewards of Treason are Tyrant Siege Terminators and Gal Vorbak. In most armies, Tyrants make more sense because Alpha Legion armies are usually weak in anti-tank firepower.

>>50103082
A heat gun and a vise didn't solve the dents?
>>
>>50103126
I've had shoulder pads and seeker bolters (from before they got hands molded onto them) that were absurdly greasy and heavy cleaning only helped so much, but at least they weren't soft. That's quite a good reason to ask for replacements.

On a related note, anybody want mastodon sides?
>>
>>50103179
Don't have one. Also, it's opposite to some thick piece, so it looks like it just didn't have enough plastic in it or something.
>>
>>50103207
But what if they get so many wrong orders you could just build another one?
>>
>>50103108
>at least a namefag
Out of 100+ unique IPs per thread, that's not a lot. Unless they have an actual relevance to the subject matter (e.g. a FW employee in our case), their identified presence is at most tolerated, never appreciated.

Shave down the face of the bad tracks and double them up behind the good ones – make a super widebody Mastodon.
>>
>>50103093
I am only a bit mad that ‘Iron Circle’ Domitar-Ferrum Class Battle-automata´s are not worth to take as Rite of War since you guys said that they are not so good...i like them from the looks but dunno Red Butchers out of my Spartan? What would you guys use if you could as fav. "special unit"?

Like >>50103179 said i saw a lot of posts and lets plays with the Siege Termis (should they go full chain fists mode or how does that work if we talk about normal fist or chain fist?)

Should i even bring then "extra Termis" in to the game if i would lets say use 10x Siege Termis?
>>
>>50103175
The learnean termies look like the Tacticals of the Legion specific termies: good guns, good punch, not overcosted, good options. They could be your all rounders, I'm sure you're aware there are better options for melee you could steal. Just saying.
>>50103251
There are a lot of them over there. And I enjoyed the ones we had, they looked like nice guys. Yes, even Czfag.
>>
>>50102971
Make an army list and post it, my dude. How you run your terminators depends a lot on how they fit in with the rest of your army.
>>
>>50103311
You need to know what the rest of your list contains. What is its weakness? If antitank, take Tyrants (ranged only, no fists - but would they need a transport?). Survivability? Maybe you can take Iron Circle. Speed? Try one of the Raven Guard units.

Yeah, a Mortis. I think it'll actually be a good list, because the Stormlord won't be the only high-AV threat.
>>
>>50103338
Gona make a list tomorrow but if we put all to the side - how would your 5 or 10 squad look?

>>50103381
If used for like you said "Survivability" an Iron Circle am i only allowed 1x of them or is a full "Circle " something like 3 models? How would this work? And let me ask straight - what is his job on the baord in the end?
>>
>>50096773
How about upgrading your stormlord? BS4, sponsons, AC?

Hey /hhg/ this is the real AWG. I just want you to know I will be gone until Monday, and anyone who posts or has so far posted under my name is not me.
From here on forward I will not be replying to any posts that are not Horus Heresy related, and even then only those related to Space Wolves or other Legions.

But I will NOT be posting until Monday, so anyone who does under my name is not me.
>>
>>50103559
You can take 1 to 6. They could be used to take and hold objectives… the only problem is that they’re really slow. They’re already expensive, and it would cost even more to give them a transport.

They're also good at going after 2-wound models.
>>
>>50103802
Man, thanks for the heads-up AngryWiteGuy, I'm really glad we know what you're doing and when you'll be posting AngryWiteGuy. Hope you have a good weekend, AngryWiteGuy.

Is..... is that the inspiration for the Deredeo?
>>
Was the Leman Russ tank already named that during the Heresy? If so, should Space Wolves be able to take them? Would they even fit in a tank designed for pre-posthumans?
>>
>>50104046
>not knowing about Eddy, Chuck and Fury
>>
>>50103508
Thanks Mr. Anon. What kind of Mortis? Legion Mortis or Contemptor? I kinda like the rifleman dread look but I figure they're really outclassed by Contemptors now.
>>
>>50104052
SWs could use them back in 3E I think.
>>
>>50104052
It's a retcon. Old lore was that like the Chimera, they were a post-heresy invention that was named after Russ.
>>
>>50104052
Marines fit into Rhinos, Predators, Land Raiders, Malcadors, Baneblades, etc. which are also designed for pre-posthumans.

I just hope SW get Exterminators. I got a pair of those old things and I really want to field them. Then again, there's always Predator rules (autocannon, HB sponsons, pintle-HB), but it's not the same.
>>
>>50104069
Those were just the same old dreads with different bits.
>>
>>50104069

Why haven't FW made Fury yet?

>>50104082
The big difference is that only the Contemptor-Mortis can take twin Kheres. I don't know if those are that much better against aircraft and other stuff than twin autocannons... they might actually be.

>>50104091
It's worth noting that in Tallarn: Executioner they never referred to them as Leman Russes. But they were only using variants: Vanquishers, Executioners, etc.
>>
>>50103778
Thanks anon.
>>
>>50103632
I don't think you can give the LoW Stormlord Armored Ceramite unfortunately, which is why I'm thinking of getting a rifleman mortis dread or contemptor mortis to protect its ass. But yeah I gave it BS4 and a set of sponsons. I mostly was just posting the list of units and didn't write the upgrades, woops.
>>

This is redundant.

Not really, since regular boxnought can also have quad ACs, but lacks the AA capability.
