Free Spells: Bleeding Effect, Cold Blood, Red Armor, Masquarade, Intuition, Reality Check
Alteration (3): Level 2 Blood Agent (3)
Perception (7): Level 2 Clairvoyance (2), Level 3 Live Ahead (5)
Usurpation (20): Level 3 Mind Swap (9), Level 2 Empathy (4), Level 3 Domination (7)

>Equipment
Spellbook (mission)
Sacrificial Dagger (3) (‘sacrificial’ is spelled incorrectly)
Amulet (5)
ammo

Empathy and Clairvoyance ought to synergize. Also Blood Agent with Mind Swap. Domination and Empathy should make it easy to get sacrifices. Live Ahead is basically a defensive thing - expensive, but worth it when I’m doing something high risk.

Is there any other finished works of KnightBros? I got the original KnightBros, Seasons of Mist, Sons of the New World, Peace Sentinels, and Heavenshore. I recall that there are other CYOAs but I don't know if they are finished yet.

>>50075189
Went with the mystery option and now I'm a Promethean.
>>
>>50075438
Neah, when it comes time to do the brain, you'll just upload yourself into a fully robot body that you've been building all along. Probably with some kind of machine where you just sit back, push the button, and it goes.

Or else you could always just replace it one pinky-finger-sized piece at a time, and transfer your mind over in bits.
>>
>>50075425
You gotta work together with other devoted cyborg buddies to design and create your own robobrain. Then they install it for you.

I went with the mystery box, in an age of gods somebody has to stand up for humanity.
>>
>>50075501
Ah, fireproof, eh? Don't worry, us devoted of Hephaesus have a machine to get around that problem. Sprays liquid nitrogen.
>>
>>50075564
Wouldn't it be simpler to spray corrosive chemicals instead?
>>
>>50075586
Neah, see liquid nitrogen won't do much to mess up our nifty robot bits, but it'll wreck you fleshies.

Corrosive chemicals on the other hand might ruin our paint jobs.
>>
>>
I'd try to stop you, but I'm not sure what post I'm responding to...
>>
>>50075608
I don't really get why you think liquid nitrogen would be effective against someone able to use fire. I mean, that shit already dissipates at normal temperatures, so against a fire-user...
>>
>>50075677
Fire requires oxygen. The rapidly expanding cloud of not-oxygen will snuff your flame, then the supercooled spray will turn your squishy bits crunchy.

Personally, I don't care about the political rabble or world domination. I just want to enjoy myself and my powers as I travel the world. My aura should hopefully dissuade most unwanted challengers. Whether or not they are fun, it is not for that kind of reason that they should be added.

Legsharks are added when every option in a CYOA is bad, so you'd rather take legshark. I don't see the problem here.

The thing is, Star Sapphire lets you make a difference.

It gives you the option to see their world, its spite and hatred, and love it anyway.

It lets you take that love, and help with it.

It lets you show people their own hate, and help them love instead.

It lets you be a hero - a savior - a neighbor.

>Argus
See everything but go insane from schizophrenia.

>Hephaestus
Become one of the world's greatest programmers/electro-engineer but lose your body and become a robot

>Erebus
Perfect stealth so you can do anything you want but you can never really interact with another human being on a personal level again. Worthless.

>Eris

>Pan
Empathy and charm but die from exhaustion because you can never rest again. Horrible.

>Hecate

>>
>>50076759
Some kind of Cassandra "no one believes you" thing.
A poor starting situation, like the loop always starts as you're getting punched in the face or something.
Another looper working against you.
Your memories of past loops are imperfect in some way. Like you'll remember you investigated X, but you'll mistakenly think it came up negative.
If you die, you spend the duration of the loop in a void, or stuck in your unmoving corpse, instead of looping immediately.
The loopers in Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria got psychologically fucked up due to operant conditioning, maybe something about that.

>>
>>50077013
Yeah, all of the options come with some severe drawbacks, but I think you're overrepresenting how awful the drawbacks are.

>Argus
Going insane isn't a certainty. It isn't even a probability. You'll definitely see some fucked up shit, but going insane isn't the only outcome.

>Hephaestus
You will lose your old body and become a robot, but you'll still be able to feel things and feel emotions as a human would.

>Erebus
If you interact with someone on a fairly regular basis- say a best friend or a lover- they'll be able to remember you exist and your relationship, even if the exact events of what you did together are a little fuzzy.

>Eris
Simplistic machinery (E.G. anything mechanical) will only break down slightly more than average. If using the computer is that essential, though, then I reccomend steering clear of Eris.

>Pan
Your body still rests, your mind doesn't. It's a mental exhaustion, not a physical one.

>Hecate
The more you use your powers, the more Hades will notice. By the same token, those who don't use their powers for long periods of time eventually falls beneath his notice. Guy only has a limited number of Hellhounds after all- the people who cast the most are a priority.

>Argus
It even says in the cyoa that MANY begin to slowly go mad from their experiences. That doesn't sound like good odds to me.

>Hephaestus
You get a robot body. Now since this cyoa takes place in an established universe where people know about these "devoted" this wouldn't be a major problem but still ostracize you from most social groups since you can't exactly hide that you're a robot. Well, you could... but you catch my meaning. This is probably still the best option out of the god options though.

>Erebus
It says right in the cyoa that they forget you were even there and who you are. You can of course TRY to maintain a relationship but the person you try to do that with will forget the first time they met you after some time, making you have to start over your relationship at regular intervals, meaning you can never get truly intimate. It would NOT work. Reread the cyoa.

>Eris
No more machinery means no cars, no cell phones, no computers, no micro wave ovens, no showers, no modern luxuries whatsoever. Heating would still work because you don't actually have to be near your radiators to feel their heat in your house/apartment or whatever you live in.

>Pan
Mental exhaustion is even worse if you ask me. This is even more likely to drive you insane. Anyone whose been under mental stress for long periods of time would know that. Eventually anybody would long for sleep/death.

>Hecate
You have a point here. It says you'll only get hunted from overuse, so no undead armies. It's an ok power, I suppose. But you can't just assume Hades has a limited supply of hellhounds or if there is a limited supply that they are fewer than the overabusers of Hecate's devoted.

IIRC, literally no one survives Ragnarok. Not the gods, not the Jotunn, not the humans. Everybody dies and goes to Hel.

No, all of his children die in Ragnarok. They're part of the final boss squad along with Surtr and I don't remember if the Jotunn had their own dedicated leader.

Nah, two to three beings survive Ragnarok. Two humans, and in some myths a revived Baldr. All of them by hiding in a magic tree.

Yo, had a few questions about the CYOA from a previous thread:

Delve Too Deep (7)
Sensory Swap (10)
Word Trigger: Malfeasance (12)
Dark Midas Touch (16)

Divine The Secrets (13)
Monster's Energy (10)
Stay the Devourer (7)
Refined Digestion (4)
Thought Processing (0)

So, I'd like to basically abandon civilsation and become a hermit or something, just go full ascetic in a mountain shelter somewhere. There I'll use my boosted brain, inexhaustible energy and insight to the dead gods to attempt to become a god myself before the century's up and I either die of old age or lose my connection to the deity, whichever comes first. I guess from then on the race will be to find a balance between death from mental overclocking and figuring out everything before I actually die, in order to hopefully figure out the other enhancements at that point-especially the youth one-to further explore being something more than human.

So on that note-exactly what is a god in this setting? Are they all people who just gained enough senses to live among higher dimensions, or were there original ones other humans became? To what extent are they able to live among normal humans, and what other powers do they possess? Is naming a god literally a matter of going "Hey, you're Steve" and dying?

Finally, exactly what does "becoming part of the Fleshweaver" entail? Is he a god or not-or MADE of gods? If you had taken Divine the Secrets without Delve Too Deep, what would have been the best way to progress in understanding? I assumed sources of lore on godhood would be scarce without the piece of dead deity.

Though seriously, is anyone actually going to college in this CYOA to learn? I know I'm not terribly interested because I already studied for a degree and learned from it.

>Nice Apartment [Free]
What >>50079384 said. This is worth way more money than 60 dollars a day. I might not need this, but it's good insurance against the Debt obligation.

>x3 Zeal [3]
>No Sleep [2]
Huge boon. Adds 1/3rd more time to your conscious life. Exercising isn't a problem either with all that energy.

>x12 Olympian [12]
>Titan [4]
I can use what time I'd spend on sleeping for working out and training.

>The Athlete
Football player and my trainer.

>Debt [+2]
Sell my apartment for a shit ton of money, pay for college easily.

>Star Athlete [+2]
The hardest challenge by far. Even with a superhuman body I need skills to go with it - things like golf would require too much practice. It also needs to be a sport I can individually win for my team and that my college is already ok at. If Titan would let me plow through regular humans, football could be a good choice.

>Party Animal [+2]
Quite easy if you live on campus. Doesn't have to be an enormous party either.

>Under Construction [Nice Apartment Free]
Incredible deal. Not like I need the money immediately.

From where I live, average tuition is about 4k per semester, so 8k per year or 12k if you're doing 3 semesters of nonstop schooling per year.
Housing is about 3k every 4 months and that's on the cheaper side of things, we're looking at 9k for housing.

So for an average uni student studying two semesters per year that's 17k down the drain and you have 4k left for food, cloths, transportation and books.
>>
>>50079936
I guess I should probably explain that eventually.

Gods are just people who have become powerful enough to entangle themselves in true, objective reality. They're goddamn strong things that have shed any mortality except for the seeming that they use to interact with people. The seeming is like a puppet body or avatar.

Gods' names are part of the way they become entangled in reality and become a part of it. Someone else using that name for the god basically fucks with the tenuous connection that makes up them being separate from reality and being consumed by it. Proto-gods are even more vulnerable than true gods. The Fleshweaver is one of the beings that purposefully creates and then feeds on proto-gods. Beings do this to increase their power He, being the third of the Dreaming Dead, no longer does it on purpose. His will and self no longer exists, but his seeming and power do. Fun fact, the Adversary is the only currently living god that goes about making and eating proto-gods.

The best way to progress would be to come into contact with a friendly deity, not tell them your name, learn about godhood from them, and then kill everyone who knows your name. Or weave their memories away if you ever get the power to do so. *wink*
>>

Thank you, and thank you.

And how very Unknown Armies.

It sounds as though a "true" god has some sort of defense mechanism if proto-gods are more vulnerable; is it simply using their reality warping powers to obfuscate themselves or is there more to it? Interesting that even though he apparently lacks free will the Fleshweaver seems to have a lot more personal agency than the "true" gods, like someone knocked out at their car while it keeps driving on.

I'm getting the DISTINCT impression the god business is like more cut-throat than a Walmart on Black Friday, and that friendly deities don't last long in the fray. Assuming I do drop DTD, are there any out there in the setting you'd recommend?

Anyway, I really like the setting you're working with here! I hope you'll make more CYOAs set in it, maybe something about a similar deal with this Adversary? Guessing from the name it'd be less biological horror and more Faustian contract, would love to see your take on demonic spooky stuff.

I don't blame them for not giving me money for college anon, in retrospect knowing that I need to invest my own money into my education made me more motivated to succeed. If I did poorly it means I wasted my money on nothing.

I've seen so many friends I had over years drop out of college because they simply didn't give a fuck, their parents paid everything for them, got a 3k gaming rig, a new car, even bought them a house near the campus just so they can live comfortably and focus purely on their studies. All they did was party and flaunt their parent's wealth to fuck chicks.
>>
>>50080147
What the actual Fuck. I've seen the "what's to keep me from becoming a god" bit, but this entire thing is fucking insane
>>
>>50080149

I absolutely see your point although I still disagree with it.

I believe if you bring a kid into this world it's your responsibility to care for and raise it properly. That includes giving it the opportunity to pursue higher education.

If I ever have a kid and was in that situation I'd tell them I'd pay for college as long as they kept their grades up. As soon as their grades fell below a certain threshold that we'd agree upon beforehand, I'd cut the cash flow.

That is what I consider fair. Anything more and you're spoiling an ungrateful brat. Anything less and you're an asshole who doesn't deserve to have a child. Obviously this doesn't apply if your economical resources won't allow it but considering you have 18 years to save if you start when the kid is born that's also not a good excuse.

>>
>>50080110
I keep meaning to get around to playing that, but I live in a Pathfinder state, and finding a group that's willing to try something like Unknown Armies is hard.

Rokart was always a weird one from the start. The other dreaming dead are a lot more just corrupting presences that trundle through the universe. The Fleshweaver had some contingencies set up in the case of his death, so his presence simply continues his work.

Hmm... I feel like the least bad ones are Parasitic Organs, Broken Self, and Reap Pestilence. But they also don't give that many tokens.

Thanks! I've actually got one that I'm going to be working on is about detailing the Incarnations, who are much more like the "gods" that people usually think of, with a domain and powers associated with it.

To tide you over, A Catastropic Caper is actually set in the same universe.

>>50080123
A god is just really fucking powerful. They're not tied to a domain, and can perfect any kind of magic they want to. Some of them have chosen to watch over specific parts of reality that interests them. The Two-Faced God likes to watch thieves and those sorts, but his powers aren't limited to thievery. The Adversary is probably one of the ones who has the least association with anything. He's a right dick, though.

There's the Incarnations, who are much more like the domain-having deities you're describing. But they're basically ripped from Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series. Except with more kinds and less God and Satan.

Whelp. Being a small town conman just got a LOT more exciting.

Also glad for the recs, but actually I was wondering which were the nicest "transhuman" gods. Honestly I'm tempted to keep DTD and Sensory Swap for the horrible hilarity (and points). And Word Trigger and Dark Midas seem like a moot point to a professional hobo, so those are staying for sure. Will consider Parasitic Organs, but Reap Pestilence and Broken Self seem like no-nos for a survivalist.

>The Adversary is probably one of the ones who has the least association with anything. He's a right dick, though.

I'm getting the impression he's desperately searching for a way to break the god cycle of being named to death/nom his way to a higher form of existence/otherwise become immune to it any way he can, while keeping a low profile.

In that case, do Incarnations effectively have less raw power than a god but more "job security"?

Happy Touch

The first two seems important to understand the universe and I guess thats important for a goddess.

However I don't know what is really important to gods.

The last one was because it was the closest to something more related to her happiness that I found. I wonder if she would be able to make herself happy?

All the boons are also very nice, I guess the last two were more or less meant to be taken together. But the idea of being curious about relevant things that other people take for granted is also really great.

How does magical sight work with divine secrets? Would it be redudant?

It's strange compare two CYOAs so inverse in style.

Also, if I'm going to continue into the fleshwave thing:

Basic Beauty Package (1) (1)
Though Processing (4) (5)
Divine Secrets (6) (11)
The Fountain of Youth (5) (16)
Silvered Tongue (2) (18)

------

(2 + 5 = 7)
Delve too deep (7) (14)
Word Triggers (2) (16)
Chill Flesh (2) (18)
---------------

Though processing is more to help me with the divine secrets. I would take delve too deep even if it didn't gave me any points - I don't just be able to see things, I want to actually see them, to know how they are.
Beauty Package and Silver Tongue are there to help me manipulate people.
Fountain of youth is also self explanatory.

The word doesn't seems so problematic as long as I keep as small circle of contacs that know that they can't say the word.

The chilled skin... well, I already have a lot of problems with temperature and try to avoid changes in it as much as possible.

With the hope this doesn't derail the thread into some wider rant about religion: I'd assume that kind of talk is what gets you kicked out of a hardcore Christian household.

So it doesn't really come up, but as written I guess it would be fine because you're giving in to the Devil of your own free will after all.
>>
>>50081996
Then they probably don't understand the concept of hell, or have some serious guilt issues.

>>
>>50081996
A Christian would say that the Devil doesn't in any way "rule" over Hell. Satan has no dominion over Hell, because he was thrown in there by God - it isn't his "realm" like in a lot of stories.
You'll be by the Devil's side, but you're both equally fucked, and if you're talking to a Christian, there's no good outcomes when dealing with the Devil because he's going to fuck you over anyway because of his sin of pride.

>Like Clockwork
To get things done in this day and age, you either need some level of strength (impossible for her) or some skill with computers or machinery that will do work for you. This will greatly boost the number of activities available to her, making her life more enjoyable. I don't plan on losing any limb or expect technology to get around to any worthwhile augmentations, but I suppose it will help if that ever does happen.
>Mystical Manipulation
It gives her room to work towards impossibilities. Being able to work to achieve otherwise unobtainable goals is nice.

I was tempted to go with Happy Touch, but that doesn't really benefit her in any way (in fact, naivety could endanger her), and I'm not about to start picking for myself now.

Most of the personal boons feel rather lackluster. I mean, ideas are useless without the talent to actualize them (and it isn't like creativity isn't already trivial). Reading people would only help if you can't already pick up on intentional cues. If someone is hiding something, you should respect their right to do so and not investigate. Speed/stealth below superhero levels are sorta useless. Those things aren't needed in everyday life. The best you could do is abuse it in sporting events. Skin of Steel is a very dangerous "boon." I don't want to have to be conscious to enable the cutting in a life-saving surgery. Slim & Trim is very situational. While some benefits are always useful, it relies on someone wanting to look more masculine. Etc. Etc. If just picking boons for myself, I'd be hardpressed to find three that I would get any reasonable use out of / wouldn't cause more problems than they solve.

At least I can pick some nice stuff for her.

>I was wondering which were the nicest "transhuman" gods.
Wow, I really read it wrong, then. For nice gods... The Maker, The Worldforger, He Who Is, The First of the First, King of Kings, etc. is a rather swell guy. He made reality in a way where it would be impossible to say His name, so you're safe with Him, if you can ever get to a place where you can meet Him. The Two-Faced God, His Deceitfulness, can be a bit of a jerk, as he gets his jollies from disrupting people's secure and normal lives. He actively makes plans go awry. But he's not beyond helping seekers of power. The Horned Goddess, Mistress of Emotion, goes around trying to bring people's feelings to the surface. She wants people to be open and emotional, and she would be fine instructing you if you approached her seeming. The Iron God of The Pyre is ambivalent about mortals, and instead uses the reincarnation Pyre at the Heart of Hearts to forge artifacts of great power. He might talk to you or ignore you. He's not terribly personable. The Whispered Truth, Her Shrouded Glory, is the one most likely to slip the secrets of godhood in your path without you even asking for them. She will keep some of your secrets in exchange, but she will rarely use them, except in self defense. She has only killed a single god, a terrifying entity named Ychohol Taghs'marl, The Silent Hunter, who actually hunted down several gods and devoured them.

I forgot I had changed the name of Incarnations to Emissaries, but that's just a small change. Emissaries are mortals who take up the mantle of a specific domain, usually having it be passed to them by their predecessor. They cannot be killed while holding the mantle, but will eventually know when they need to step down and pass it on. While holding the mantle, they have complete dominion over the domain, but also have the responsibility of making it work correctly. The Maker actually sends angels out to help them, though the angels aren't beholden to the Emissaries.

What are these daughters of the goddess, then?
Does every drawback from the fleshweaver grant you a name? Do the names expire with the drawback? But you're completely safe if you don't take any drawbacks?
So you could name and eat your daughters, but then you'd have to deal with their mother.

It contains women doing things other than getting raped. Also, men being the victims.

Really, the Star Sapphires are horrible people in general, but if you don't like them, you might be able to get away with saying you love solitude. Then they'd go out of their way to leave you alone, because love, right? (Oh wait... no, that's not how they do things...)

Really, the only Ring corps that don't immediately suck to get drawn into in some way are green or blue. Yellow mutates you into a monster-version of yourself, red rips out your blood and replaces it with burning plasma (and you die if you lose the ring), Indigo mind-fucks you (nok.), Sapphire usually turns you into almost as hateful of a rage-monster as red and is run by people with no understanding of the emotion they claim to represent. Orange is not available (MINE!), Black makes you a zombie (usually complete with rotting...), and white is only for one special snowflake at a time, whose life is guaranteed to suck because of narrative causality.

Blue's main problem is not being very powerful without a green around.

At least with green the main problem is that your bosses are personally responsible for everything bad that ever happens anywhere ever. (Okay, that might also be a problem...)

Haha, I'm Australian.

You really are delusional, your guns are known globally as cheap, shitty plastic. Only a dumb Southerner will say they're 'tried and true'. Also, let me know when you can spell 'Regions' and 'Western europe' okay?

Going for maximum efficiency and potential once I leave college

First are the drawbacks and obligations, lets get that out of the way

Pay off the debt: my school was ridiculously cheap, not even worth worrying about.

Get Good Grades: I plan to anyway, this just makes it more attractive.

Friendless: Who needs them. Not going for young hermit since that sounds hellishly painful.

Criminal minds: I don't plan on partying or going out anyway, no problems for me

Can't get up: See above.

Difficult teacher: I'll take three, anymore would be a drag, but with that amount I'll be more or less okay.

Horseshoe theory: I live at home anyway, they can ruin my school time, but they can't follow me to my house.

This gives me a total of 35 points to spend. Let's see what we can do.

No school boons, fuck that I don't need anything. Except the great curriculum since I want to be able to say I graduated from a prestigious college.

Obligatory 5 points into zeal and no sleep. Great and cheap combination for something as important as sleep.

Going to get fortunate since it seems more or less worth it.

And then I'll dump 27 points into genius. Fuck it, we're going autistic savant in this route. Give me that impossibly good memory, reading speed and 135 IQ points.

My ally shall be the genius. I'll be there for him and he'll be there for me. We're going to graduate at the top of our class and face the world together, it's just me and him on this long and lonely road, and we're aiming for the stars!

Space and the stars do not care how much you can accomplish and succeed, all you'll find up there is the cold apathy of the infinite void and the silent scream of quantum death echoing beneath the manifolds of reality.

To make sure that I wasn't being selfish I only read the boons the girl would get while choosing them.

>Spark of Genius
A good mind.

>Happy Touch
A good soul (as well as the gift to help others).

>Mystical Manipulation
And her birthright.

I'm really not fit for this but I'll do my best to raise her. Teach her to seek her own happiness and follow her own ambitions while also doing what she can to help those around her.
