I just realized, /tg/, the two most common household pets are opposite alignments.

Dogs are Lawful, and Cats are Chaotic.

Cats are pretty intelligent. An owlcat would probably have a more even balance of predatory features and intelligence. More versatile than a cat, but smarter than an owl. They'd have a reputation amongst people as being pretty, mobile, and as excellent hunters, but also as being sporadic, aggressive, and a bit ditzy.

Doesn't sound like too much of an issue. You don't use owls for falconing or cats for retrieving. Odds are they'd be useful as pest-control. They can clear out mice like normal, but also go after flying pests, and can ambush from the air as well as the land.

>>49966692
Actually I think cats are definitely not chaotic. They are either neutral or display what could be considered an alien sense of lawful.

Observe how you may pet the cat 3 times, ONLY three times, more then that and it bites.
We see the cat as chaotic simply because we do not understand why it does the things it does, but on closer observance we can see very strong patterns arise in behaviors. Cats LOATH change, you ever try moving a litter box to a new part of the house? it will start pissing everywhere. You must first acclimate the cat to change by slowly moving the box a couple inches a week.

Now if you got to move it between floors, u are screwed unless its a basement, then you can just lock the damned thing down there with food and water.

I was being overly generalistic using a well known joke/example of cats weirdness.

I have a cat that embodies the 'pet a very specific period of time then i bite' and I have had cats that would seek out laps to cuddle and purr in while also having no issues with you approaching them.

Point is whatever variety of personality a particular cat has, they usually are not what I could consider chaotic. Very predictable once you know them. If anything a cat has an almost autistic level of obsessiveness over things being a certain way

another fun one is cats that raely drink out of water bowls and instead go for the condensation in a bath tub, especially if there is a slight drip to the faucet. And then you try to get them one of those special water fountain cat bowls, you realize several weeks later you wasted a lot of money.

No one really knows why this happens so often. One theory I liked was that it is survivor instinct that comes from very likely originally being arid/desert in their ancestory. They found this source of fresh water, now they must always return to it.

not sure how things are for networks in britain, but it gets very brutal here.

I think tv in general would potentially see mass improvements if people just could purchase the channels they wanted instead of paying for hundreds of choices of crap for one thing. But the networks are very very adamant in preventing such a thing from ever occurring.

>>
>>49985087
actually there is potentially science to back up why people find eating dogs so wrong.

There is a chemical response when a parent and baby look in each otherr's eyes, this response reinforces their bond together. Direct eye contact is something most animals do not like at all, but not dogs. Dogs are the only species so far that will maintain and make eye contactt with people, and they recently discovered that same chemical response also occurs.

It is assumed that this is an adaption as a result of being so dependant on humans. It makes the master far less likely to toss out the dog. Our bond with dogs is almost the same on a chemical level as that with children. We can't see people harming a dog because we subconciously give it an equivalant standing with humans.

Hi, I received your comment and want to explain exactly why we do this. According to Jewish law and tradition, the various names for our Creator are all considered holy and must be treated with the utmost respect. If there is a paper with the name written out in full, then it cannot be thrown away, but actually we take all such papers and bury them properly in the ground and keep them separate from other things (see Proper Disposal of Holy Objects). Clearly many readers print out our material. We cannot have a situation where they read the article and then throw it in the garbage with the word with the "o" as that is disrespecting His holy name. It is therefore traditional to insert the dash so that there is no issue.

Hope this explanation suffices for you.

Ok so there's the one caterpillar that gets itself picked up by ants to use as food so it gets brought into the hive. Then it emits a pheromone that makes the ants think it's an ant larva, so they feed it instead of eating it.
Then there's a parasitic wasp that uses that particular caterpillar to play "Alien Chest Burster". To get to it, it sprays its own pheromone that makes the ants attack each other, and the wasp just waltzes in and out in the panic.

It's like a scene in a movie - a guy in a nice suit walks in to a bank, and like magic immediately everyone starts killing each other. He calmly walks into the open vault, steals the Maltese Falcon, and walks out.

I think it's more because TV production is a very small, incestuous industry. There's a lot of groupthink and if some piece of conventional wisdom doesn't work, they just try harder.

British TV benefits from british theater, which produces great actors and voiceover talent. Also, for decades the BBC had a very low budget that didn't depend on ratings. So a better-financed competitor couldn't emerge to displace them, but also they didn't have to worry about how they were doing in this month's ratings. So they made up for the weak production values with better writing and acting.

Go watch some old Doctor Who and you'll see what I mean.

Hence why HBO (floating on massive cash reserves) fronts the money, special effects, and (this part sucks) writing. While the BBC provides actors and costumers. It's also why super-famous BBC actors and actresses can get pulled into porny sex scenes so easily-- HBO's pay is high enough that that's their best option. Whereas successful American TV actresses rarely strip for anything short of a feature film.

I re-watched Rome recently, and it was amazing the top tier actresses getting plowed over bales of hay when c-list basic cable talent won't drop their knickers at all. Some of it is culture, but a lot is $$$

Yahweh is not the blasphemous name, the name that was blashphemous was "Adonai" or "Lord" (akin to how Baal is a proto-semitic word for "master") - the problem was that when the early greek church was translating the several hebrew texts that they compiled into what we call "the old testament" into greek they didn't have any actual rabbis on hand.

Which is a bit of a problem when older bits of the hebrew texts involve cryptograms to avoid sacriligiously writing down a term for god - in this case "Adonai" was replaced with the tetragrammaton YHWH (which is complete gibberish).

When a rabbi was reading from passages with the tetragrammaton however the rabbi was expected to SAY "Adonai" as it wasn't sacriligious to use the term in a liturgical context.

What then happens is that over the years an addition to hebrew was made where a series of vowel indicating diacritic marks was added to the hebrew consonants to indicate the vowels used in a word, and so in more "recent" torahs that used that form of hebrew the tetragrammaton had diacritics for the word "adonai" added to YHWH to help Rabbis remember to say the CORRECT name during services... which is why bits of the old testament refer to god as both YHWH and "Yehovah" (jehovah in greek), some of the source texts used the older style pure tetragrammaton cryptogram and others were more recent and used the diacritics for (a)(o)(a) over the first three letters... and at the same time you know when the early church was writing down orally transmitted bits of jewish scripture because suddenly the term "The Lord" is outright used and YHWH and Jehovah aren't, because the precise proscription against writing down "Adonai" hadn't been practiced for a few centuries by that point and the early church didn't know better.

The main reason for this is because most documentaries in the USA are usually shown to children in school settings and they are super spastic to keep stupid kids paying attention.

The bigger problem is many never stopped filming this way because it is shit they grew up with.

That said, Bug Wars is pretty fan-fucking-tastic because of the Kaiju noises and shit when the bugs throw down.

Cats are not codependent unlike dogs and are more solitary, but are perfectly capable of being in a group following rules and recognizing a leader.

I don't doubt they exist, and I knew we had Mormons because of Dogs In the Vineyard and several "religion and /tg/ threads" where Mormons revealed their whole families love board games and TTRPGs because they aren't drugs/caffeine/sinful fun. But I have still never seen a practicing jew reveal themselves, only the typical American "Jews" who go to synagogue twice a year and celebrate Christmas. It's just especially surprising since /pol/ crossposting and derailing has only become more of a problem over the years (to an extent).

Fun fact: scientists did a test involving some food on a little movable platform that was only accessible to some bees if they pulled on a peice of string attached to the platform to slide it under a partition the bees weren't able to go under.

This is a fairly complex task, something that no insect has been shown capable of doing - one of those "higher animal" type tasks that usually only cephlapods, birds and mammals can do.

Some bees can do it though.

And bees who watch other bees do it can eventually learn to do it themselves, and can then go on to teach other bees in the hive away from directly doing the task, allowing the new skill to propagate and outlast the original bees who came up with the skill:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVJ3XeFle4Y

This evidence of cultural level propagation basically jumps Bees up into the Corvid/Cuttlefish/Human range of intelligence and learning, making them the first known insect to operate on that level.

Depends on the source really. Obviously most shouldnt be talking about Daily life amongst ourselves, really shouldn't watch it at all (Its my weakness sadly, the casual insertion of real life animal facts drew me in and kept me there.). But I don't think stuff like Centaur Worries is anything to merit needing a long talk with the Bishop over. But I also know plenty of the most ideal examples of our values watch Game of Thrones without any moral dilenma. I guess as long as it doesn't make actually fap, then no one truly cares. Sure you would be better off without the temptations, but we try to go with a very 'You need to use your personal wisdom on this' for a whole lot more then people realize. THey think we just forbid all R movies, and what not,but in reality, its advised against but not a 'you are outright disobeying god doing this.'

'Wisdom in all things'

i hope that makes sense, TLDR there is no religious law on it.

heh, that got a good chuckle out of me.

Just an FYI, the main 'mormons' dont practice that and havent since the 1800s. In fact the term Mormon is not something we came up with to refer to ourselves, we are the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. After joseph died the church splintered a bit, with a small faction beleiving only the blood of joseph could be prophets. Since they have not followed our revelations since then, they understandably still follow things like Polygamy in a few of their congregations.

let me bump this real quick for future references

4th and fifth did suck. Good lord did the vast majority of the new evolutions for previous gens in gen 4 look like abortions. 6 was a return in the right direction. 7 is looking like a mixed bag.

Dogs are lawful neutral. They obey their master and their training, whatever that may be.

Not as good as based Gen III, granted, but certainly second best.
And most of the crossgens were great, you're just letting two or three sour your whole perception.

Well it's the Japanese giant hornet ain't it? That this thing happens with? Makes perfect sense it would exist since its Japan.

Alright I will concede that most of the non gen1 cross gens were well done. the ones I don't like I wasn't fond of their previous form anyway and will concede that it is a mostly logical evolution without loosing too much ofthe original. Only Mamoswine really bothers me, wish it had either more of a trunk going on or especially did something to make the tusks look less like they are jutting out of the middle of it's body like horns. Trunk I can understand ruins the swine motif, but those tusks just need fixing. But even with that I am largely fine with Mamoswine

Excluding the eeveelutions, the Gen 1s all rustle my jimmies. Magmortar especially. Just looses so much of the lizard man look i loved with magmar.

Ampersands are majestic, beautiful creatures and I will not let this insult stand

Also
>welsh
you mean sheep? I know that these two are always trying to mate, most often initiated by the welsh, but they are not the same species

I felt polygon didn't need a new evolve honestly.
Munch lax is not an evolution, he is a baby stage, doesn't count, he is special and adorable.
Magnezone rubs me the wrong way, I want to like it but I can't.
Tangrowth however is just tangela with arms. Lame. Definitely perhaps the most logical of the gen 1 evolves, aside from the eeveelutions, but still lame.

It's Porygon 2 that evolves into Porygon Z, Jack.
And Porygon Z is a great concept, beautifully executed.
Magnezone is the perfect evolution, looks great, amazing.
Tangrowth may not be super special, but I like it, and it's definitely not bad by any measure.
