He broke countless controllers, keyboards, mouses, mtg cards, miniatures, threw dice through the window, etc
He also repeats constantly others did that too as some kind of excuse and that he actually never loses, other people cheats
My group refuses to play with him at anything

I once brought a friend in on a game. I knew he was kind of touchy, but he turned into a bigger baby than I've ever seen him be. He bitched about receiving 1 point of damage in a mock fight, he got upset that his poorly built character was poorly built, he even got upset at rolling poorly on initiative and not getting to charge across obstacles like it was a grand fucking conspiracy. Later he thought I was fucking him over when I mentioned THE LAWS OF FUCKING PHYSICS and cited I was just doing it because he pointed out I should use CHA on a Perform check, despite my character juggling and it being of no importance to the game. I played a Jester. He juggles shit when he has nothing to do. Later, when we were discussing our characters for the next campaign, I was talking about the mechanics of my character, which were slightly gimmicky, he pipes up with "but roleplaying should be more important than mechanics"... from the fucking knob who had his last character commit suicide because he wasn't mechanically strong, and came back with a grimdark, minmaxed Mary Sue that was an extension of his Diablo III character.

He managed to take offense at the tiniest things, and blame others for it. He became screaming at the top of his lungs mad multiple times, including threats of walking out, which he eventually did, and everyone was glad for it. Shit damaged our friendship, and made me lose a lot of respect for him.

Someone I was playing against in Star Wars Armada made me reroll dice because he said I wasn't throwing them from high enough. I shook them well, I just do a low drop because I hate when dice get everywhere. Even then though it wasn't like they didn't fall or anything. Nothing made me more mad than being stuck for another hour in a game with that guy.

I once played a game of 4e at my lgs with a few friends of the DM that I'd never met before. One of them swore violently when the rolls turned against him (or when he got caught trying to fudge) and when his character died from an unlucky crit he stomped over to one of the drinks-fridges and just began throwing cans of Monster onto the floor before being escorted out.

What surprised me is that the two other players were both very much obviously autistic, with one of them basing their minotaur on their fursona, and they ended up being pleasant enough to play with that they became regulars.

I've played with all kinds of sore losers, but the type that sticks in my mind is the tabletop RPG defeatist who loses all hope if his character takes even a little bit of damage. They're just so fragile and sensitive. I don't know if they think their characters are invincible or if they're accustomed to playing video games with cheats on, but they just get so whiny and bitchy when their precious characters get even a little bit wounded.
>>
>>49873240
Dude got KO'd in dnd. Started sulking, ran out to get high, and tried to reroll (erasing his sheet despite his character being not even being badly injured) as a character named after a video-game in an effort to troll the GM.

In another session, he sulked and ran away from the table after his dude, despite having the worst social skills in the whole party, insisted on being the party face and got the worst possible roll, indicating that some NPCs hated him and would not provide aid. If literally any other PC was doing it, they'd have gotten a better outcome. It's just astonishing.

Needless to say, he's not a player in that game anymore.

>>
>>49873898

I've seen a similar phenomenon that anything that goes wrong is obviously because the GM hates them and they have no chance, not because of stupidity or bad luck or bad planning or taking on something too strong for them.

I've told the story in full before, but I've had players literally kill themselves IC because they got robbed by bandits and there was "no hope left".
>>
>>49874031
Dealing with players like those is fucking awful.

The worst I've heard about but thankfully never experienced are the ones who think that because it's there, they should be able to fight it and win. I've heard all kinds of stories about GMs who hype up an NPC as being unkillable or ridiculously strong, then put the players in a situation where they can choose to fight or escape, and they choose to fight. Then they lose, and complain about it, despite the GM doing his best to give all kinds of hints and talking up the NPC's reputation as a supreme badass.

It must be so frustrating for the GM. At least by learning from the mistakes of others, I know not to do that sort of thing.

My former friend Dan.
We played a lot of heroclix.
Dan was super experienced.
I was not.
Dan would ask what I was building on my teams to, "see what you're building so I dont roll over you."
He consistently rolled over me when he knew what i was playing, as he would look up my pieces online.

When he had no idea what i was playing I would usually beat the pants off of him.

When he lost he would throw his pieces across the room and break them. Smashing several expensive pieces over time. And throwing a tantrum at his loss.
>>
An ex-boyfriend of mine. He taught me how to play a game, helped me build a deck, and seemed happy as long as I was losing... But then I built my own deck and started beating him with it, and he got really salty. Ranting about how the archetype I picked was easy to play and I was bad because I was winning against him like that. We both ended up quitting the game after that.
>>
>>49873459

>I honestly prefer playing with normie converts or at least unindoctrinated comic book kids now solely to dodge this story-killing, self-fulfilling prophecy bullshit.

Playing with people who are too genre-savvy can be a gigantic fucking hassle. They think they're so fucking clever, especially when they start spouting memes, and it's easy to tell they're trying super hard not to metagame. Not because metagaming is bad, but because they HEARD somewhere that metagaming is bad and that GMs don't like it when their players do it. The worst of them just repeat shit they read online without understanding the meaning behind it and why it was said.

Ever since D&D 5e came out I've been able to get a lot of new players involved and it's like discovering fresh air again after years of living in a dank stuffy basement. They've got this childlike wonder about them, everything is new and exciting, and they aren't trying to predict what you're going to do at every turn.
>>
>>49873240
one of the players in my group once took about 2-3 min to rant half in character half out about how he refused to die to the bbeg when the dm told him to roll to resist an attack that would kill him if he failed. he then failed and slumped over the table pushing a cup off that smashd. he then sulked in the corner and i cleaned up for him.
>>
>>49874369

>>49873240
There was this guy at my old LGS. The guy had way too much money. He would only play flavor-of-the-month armies in tabletop wargames. And when he would lose like 2 games in a row (i'm not kidding, that's all it took), he would rage-sell his army, and buy the new top-of-meta army. Often switching games too, blaming the games for his losses.

Let's see if I can remember some of his streak.

He played necrons (mind you, this was before their latest codex), then lost some games.
So he switched to grey knights. After losing 2 games, he rage-quits 40k, and concentrates on Magic.
Well after about a month of that, buying boxes of cards in the latest release, he vows to quit CCG's for good, and concentrate on wargaming (not the first time he has declared this according to the LGS owner)
So he gets into warmahordes and plays trollbloods.
He's in that for a month, then in a league, he loses 2 games, rips up his league record sheet in front of the event coordinator, says 'fuck this game' and sells his trollbloods
Now he's back into 40k, he bought a new necron army after he heard how good they were after the new codex.

I really wish I was making this up. I really do, but all this happened within less than a year. The guy was a sore loser and not fun to play against. He would frequently rage at rules that didn't make sense to him, mainly because they provided his opponent an advantage.

But I can't hate him too much because he did get my 40k-bff into wargaming.
>>
>>49873643
You see, you can't always stereotype the weird ones. I've played a couple one-off games with a weird fursona and naruto-tier anime nut, and they were very cool to play with and got into character really well, even though they were a bit too anime, but their attitude during the whole thing was infectious.

Guy at the community college that most of my table avoided like the plague.

Would occasionally rope people into games and you'd have to sit there listening to him talk on and on about how much research he did, how much money he invested in cards, how many tournaments he's gone to and so forth.

If he wins, which is often since he is a decent player with a great deck, its always due to his tactical insight into the cards and master strategy. Whatever.

Its when he loses though its cause you are either using a broken deck or you are cheating.

I play Simic. Love them. Lots of fun. He knows I play Simic. Its practically all I play. Challenges me to a game and is some how surprised I have counters in my deck.

I manage to win and he threatens to kick my ass every time he sees me again if I ever play another "Counter Deck" against him again.

He was definitely That Guy at our college. Everyone else was either a tourney fag or a casual but at the least were fun to play.

>one of my suicide units takes his most expensive one out

He recently bought into my faction too, I wonder what the new excuse will be when I beat him with it

He's just really bad, I've thought about asking him to switch with me so I can show him about his own units but I feel that would destroy his self esteem (he's pretty fragile)

The kicker is he is actually playing the faction that is considered to be OP by most players

Hell, even last time, when we had some new blood joining in (and good looking women even!), he got his ass handed to him and was so sore he tossed the towel in. I have something of a habit of getting more than a little irritated when people knowingly play in non-optimal ways because it's "fun", especially if their idea of fun is playing with their food and prolonging the game or deciding that going out of their way to screw another player over at cost to themselves.

There's a guy at my FLGS who gets really puffed up before games and talks about how great his x-wing lists are and how smart he is. Everything he says drips with contempt and superiority and he smugly evaluates other people's lists whenever he plays them.

He's in the middle of the bottom of the pack and barely wins, to my knowledge. His lists are usually slightly altered netlists where he takes out what makes the list works and replaces it with hot garbage. He also gets mega-pissy when he loses. I had to play against him in a team tourney a few weeks back and he pulled some retarded shit and got stomped. Apparently by the middle of game 2 he was throwing minis and being a huge shit.

I played M:tG when I was a kid and the sorest lose I ever encountered was the first person I played against that wasn't a friend.

My older brother and I went down to the flgs, he liked to play against the guys there and I wanted to tag along.

My opponent was a fat man with a ponytail and neckbeard. As a kid I thought nothing of it. He had a black deck, I had a blue, the game went on for a fair amount of time.

I had used a counterspell or two during the match and he assumed (correctly) that I had four in total. So when my turn ended and I only had one mana at hand he began to boast about how he was going to crush me.

I don't recall what it was, but he had some high cost legendary black monster that he used all his mana to summon and was totally suppose to win the game for him. Since I was just a dumb kid, I had let him bring it out.

I wish I said something cool or dropped a one liner, but I just shrugged and said, "whatever, I'll just use force spike". So I tapped my mana and countered his big bad monster.

He was not pleased. First he did that thing spergs tend to do where they breathe really heavily through their nose. When I asked if his turn was over he started berating me. I don't recall the exact insults, but I do remember the store owner stepping in somewhere around "little faggot" and telling the guy he was banned from the store.

The thing is, he still could have won. My deck wasn't very powerful as I hadn't been playing long (also; kid), but I'm pretty sure the games de facto judge expelling a player from the store counts as disqualification.

Thus making him a sore loser.

Had a player who went from sore winner to sore loser in a game of Great Space Race. He had lapped most other players once, and in the case of another twice, and would not shut the fuck up about his planning skills.

The player he had lapped second is usually a good sport about losing and finds some other goal in a game when he realizes his loss is inevitable, but between all the crowing and the winner generally being a cunt in every other game, he decided to spoiler by ramming the winner into the side of the race's wall, destroying both of their ships.

Cue five minutes of angry ham beast pacing around the store like the only thing stopping him from punching the guy who stripped him of victory was the store owner playing in the same game. Lots of ranting about "that had no possible value to you, why would you do that!" Finally he storms out of the store, abandoning a guy he was supposed to drive home.

You could argue the other guy who took out his ship was a sore loser as well, but seriously this guy was a huge enough waste of flesh that I don't care.
