I honestly can't see the reasoning for Pharsma being stronger than Rovagug or Asmodeus. For one she was part of the battle against Rovagug (or at least was around during that time), and she is both younger and less involved with how creation functions at its base than Asmodeus. Besides the "Paizo said so" I don't see why.

I want to make a melee attacking, alchemist. It'd be cool if it was barehanded or with claws, but if I would do significantly more with weapons I'm not completely against it.

I'm limited to core races and only official Piazo released feats, spells, subclasses, etc. No 3rd Party materials at all.

I made a new initiating NPC archer for DMs to use in their games.

He's CR 7, but I didn't write his specific tactics. You can use him to pin down PCs, herd them into traps, or interrupt mages.

Ok apparently in the same thread it states some of the stories are just plain wrong. However there are a lot of fucking deities involved with the fight against Rovagug, including Pharasma, and we know Pharasma wasn't a major player in his defeat (unless Asmodeus, Sarenrae, and a bunch of others are lying to cover up the fact she beat him by herself).

It's common form to mention aspects of your character's appearance in the first session, if not just indirectly.

People need help visualizing characters, and the more you can give 'em the better. That said, doing this sort of thing is poor form after the third session and especially after it seems like people are done "describing" characters.

Hey so im kinda new to pathfinder and i want to creat a character that is a halfling version of a British army officers circa chrimean war- end of ww2 Basically they were weirdly bad ass just kinda strolling through battlefields as bullets were flying around and nonchalantly giving orders occasionally.
I want them to be a full support that just saunters around the battlefield, giving orders, very occasionally hitting something with a cane and i have no idea where to start with the actual character generation ie what class to play.

The KOP 4 playtest has been pretty quiet, although I don't really consider that a terrible thing. Any thoughts on what's in there? It's gonna be hard to fit in more content if there's still something you'd like to see, but I can try to make it work (or shunt it over to LK 2), since I'd like to close the book on this soon enough. We're nearing the end of week one on this playtest, and it's slated for 3-4 weeks total (depending on other factors).

Also the Mercurial Duelist should be coming out soon, and it's going to get its own sample character to help anyone who's looking to build one themselves. I'll drop more info when I can.

You probably want to go with a Bard who buffs the party - just fluff your performance is giving out good orders and advice. I recommend you don't just act like a brick and jerk off while everyone else is fighting. You should do what you can to help the other players out.

Nothing is more frustrating than having a character die because one of the other players insisted on not participating in combat because, "My character doesn't like fighting," and if that's the kind of character you brought to a game I'd ask the GM to force you to make a character concept that was more party friendly.

Could go bard. Take Perform(Orator) as your perform skill. Dunno if there's an applicable archetype.

You could also optimize Aid Another. Not sure of the specifics of it, but should be able to google around for something.

The Daring General Cavalier is another option. You basically get leadership, but you get up to 3 CL-3 cohorts and up to 3x followers, but they can only be full bab classes. Tactician abilities could be you giving orders.

The whole point of ZR is that the thigh is sexier when more of it is hidden. A smaller visible thigh line draws your eyes to it in a way that you normally would not look.

That's why, as the ZR line gets smaller, your eyes will spend more time staring at it than you otherwise would.

Our games have often revolved around core races but a different group I'm playing with is allowing pretty much a choice of any of them.

And after showing him my sheet with just a base human as its race, he says I'll be underpowered compared to the rest, some of whom has +4 to one stat while having +2 to some more.

Is there such a thing as a paragon human or some such fluffed super human with a higher/better bonus?

Really, I'm mainly looking for a slightly better boost without having to rewrite everything.

What races are you looking at?

Humans are one of the strongest races in the game (outside of crazy ones like Drow Nobles and such). The bonus feat humans get is often a better investment for many classes than an additional +2 to a second stat - consider there is a human racial option where you trade your feat to get +2 to two different stats instead of only a +2 to one stat, and most people consider that to be a terribly trade-off.

My highest level follower, runs my many businesses and has max ranks in profession: Barrister when the group needs to have a lawyer.

She's a gnome lawyer who studied and got her license in Cheliax which has killed any sense of humor she might have had. She enjoys a cushy if busy desk job in Varisia and is only too happy to not hear patronizing remarks like "You'll make it big in this city". Depends on the level of the party. People who don't know enough about magic to defend themselves against it are boned. People who know enough defend themselves to the best of their ability (there are a lot of ways to fuck over divination).

Essentially people work within the means, and you don't get very far if you get exposed the second someone tries to divine you.

Plus I enforce the actual rules for how divination works, and not the loose rules most GMs go with (because the loose interpretation makes divination a lot stronger).

On a whole I just work through the implications of divination and its uses in such a society.

At low levels it won't be a huge problem, it will be getting higher, but by then people can defend themselves magically.

Depends on the situation. In some situations just smashing people's faces does a lot more harm than good. You might earn the ire of your superiors for causing general terror and thus putting a damper on the fair's atmosphere if you get too destructive (like if you just abduct and torture people the penny dreadfuls are gonna talk about it, and if word spreads the government is going full secret police in the months heading up to the fair other countries may get an upper hands with civil unrest).

I hate the complexity of playing 3.P/5e spellcasting, but I also hate that 3.5 martials more or less only autoattack and have a huge problem just trying to contribute.

If we're going for more of a political intrigue game centered in one city, then this seems like the best shot I'll ever get to play Vigilante to its fullest.

1. A bodyguard/lady-in-waiting for the scion of a minor noble family. Brawler/Vigilante (probably grab an archetype from NJolly's book), focused on unarmed combat, improvised weapon, an intimidation. Maybe grab Archon Style to be able to intercept hits for the team. NG in alignment.

2. A battered mercenary, who's keeping himself in the game by using an ever increasing number of chemicals. Mechanically, Vigilante(Alchemical Scoundrel + Avenger), just a nasty buff and smash class. I figured, since I was kinda responsible for the Scoundrel's rewrite, I should probably play one at least once... LN or N in alignment.

I map out combat zones and relevant areas in towns.

Usually "relevant areas" means wherever the talking NPCs are (taverns, government buildings, guild halls, hideouts, the usual suspects), random things to explore (sewer access, abandoned houses), or side-fights (alleyways, fight-clubs) with some extra decorations to build atmosphere (fortifications for a town under siege, docks for a harbor town, shacks in favela, etc). It's also a fun way to accidentally come up with side content when trying to fill in a few empty spots ("this spot looks too barren, let's add a haunted warehouse"). And if they keep coming back to a certain town, you can gradualy expand the map to add more content and things to explore (but remember that R20 only expands east and south so start with the NW corner of the map). Any mundane locations where the players do things without notable interactions (selling garbage, sleeping) don't really need a location unless you have some extra event planned for that location (ambush at the inn).

Of course to avoid meta-gaming you should occasionally create a generic inn or shop map where nothing happens to keep them on their toes if you plan on ambushing them.

I've talked about the homebrew before. They were a race of people bred to be infiltrators and assassins by unscrupulous wizards.

They're functionally a subspecies of human that is just really good at squeezing into places because their body functions more like an octopi's than a humans (only 'bones' an octopus has is its beak, Jel's only have teeth). Their organs squish just fine and their muscle/cartilage system is strong enough to support them in normal environs. They may 'squish' a bit when doing things like sleeping. They also bend weird.

Take it upon yourself to run a game, anon!
My suggestion is to play 20pb Rise of the Runelords, but allow for PoW, Spheres, and Psionics.
PoW disciplines are shot, so stick to PoW:E until the errata comes out(Never), but PoW classes are fine.
Use high-psionics for Soul Knives.
Spheres works out of the gate, but be wary of conjuration since that can get pretty broken.
Other 3pp is usually okay, but you can always bring it to us if you have questions!

20pb isn't a whole lot, but you can make some capable melee types using Path of War!

I also recommend Skulls and Shackles, as long as your party is okay with the first book being suck because you're literally shanghai-ed into being crewmembers.

She left her 'people' and her family because she got ill and they took her to a nearby varisian caravan... where the typical ye-olde gypsy lady tried to heal her but failed and she 'died'... but only briefly before she was brought back. She ended up staying with the caravan as 'payment' (It was a sort of fostering thing - gypsy lady wanted an apprentice and everyone ended up agreeing). She was about 9 when that happened.

She spent the next 17 years with the Varisian caravan, working as a jeweler and a contortionist (when they performed). She also attempted to hone her talents as a wilder.

She's comfortable with her body and who she is, but doesn't like to let the mask drop regarding her true nature that often (though occasionally she'll forget and do something like swallow a pear whole because she doesn't really like chewing food).

She'd *like* to find romance and even learn more about the gods because she's worried there is no place in the afterlife for her people without a god to claim them - and she's correct based on what she's seen... but she's not entirely willing to open herself up to others.

It's not so much that she's chaste, its that she hasn't found the "right person", or really bothered to try and explore her sexuality at all. she was curious about the pixies kitten or whatever it was called in the RotRL campaign.

I admit, I was tempted to offer to run you all on a game, let you spend a week or so making characters, then spend another two weeks stewing and waiting for the game to start, and then once the game began say, "Rocks fall, you all die. The end," and then fuck off back to /pfg/ to laugh at you all.

I cringe every time I remember our old sessions.

Could a sacred huntmaster inquisitor operate with a mace and shield and still be decent? I won't be triggering AoOs with Outflank very much, but broken wing gambit would probably do that ok, and I doubt I'd be capping out my AoOs per round either way.

Probably gonna go for that. A shame I can't get the save DC's for class abilities to be Wis-based, since the Slayer has a poor will save. Plenty of ways to make it fun, though, which is pretty sweet.

The standard ragepounce barbarian makes sense to me and I can build it, I just can't get any kind of character I want to play with that build without gestalting.

Anon, relax! You're not going to be thrown into some gauntlet of death! Ragepounce Barbarian or not, anything will probably get the job done.

Same with the Slayer! Did you know I've never once used the more esoteric class abilities apart from Studied Target and the occasional Slayer's Advance? Just pump up that Wisdom and play the huntsman you were born to be!

I have faith you will make a martial character you'll love, slayers and barbarians are very forgiving design-wise (due to Rage and Studied Target respectively) so you can have all sorts of fun designing a character!

Did you have any character concepts in mind for this hypothetical martial-anon?

Man someone mentioned doing a mesmer homebrew in the last thread and I really love the idea, I kinda have it working in my head still

But the more I think about it the more I think it would end up as less of a spellcaster and more a martial with a pool of points and some unique buff/debuff effects

And then it would be like the swashbuckler didn't ever exist
