In related news, I want to put the cart before the horse and create a horror setting where hobo signs for the supernatural are useful, e.g. a sign for "It's not human," one for "Doesn't stay dead," "Safe to rest here," "Don't fall asleep," "Radios don't work," etc.

The problem is I can't think of any logical way for characters in a horror setting to find leaving notes for future visitors to be useful.

>Local 58 is the only news channel available in the area
>Its left on throughout the night, and attempts to change the channel are futile
>Occasionally, the droning music and reports are cut off and inexplicably replaced with something regarding the night's phenomena
I might do this.

Location plays a big part. The crab thing works on the coast where for a single high tide the crabs just cover the beaches.

For one in a more rural setting a herd of animals just walking down the road, single file all neat and orderly.

Or as someone who has worked nights in a major city near the airport, the absolutely creepiest thing were those random moments of silence. No planes taking off or landing, no sounds of traffic or people..... like the entire world is holding it's breath right before something happens.
>>
>>49842589
Adding to this. The WW Hunter symbols work as well.

>In the middle of the nightly lotto number announcements, the screen suddenly blanks out, then changes to a live feed of the station interior, on a camera that doesn't exist
>Everything seems exactly the same on screen, until a raggedy looking man comes into the store, bleeding from a stab wound in his arm, followed by a bald, pale man in a gray jumpsuit brandishing a kitchen knife
>Off-screen, the raggedy man is there, bleeding and begging for help like in the feed, but the bald man is nowhere to be seen

I watched it. It's honestly not too bad,a little bit hokey because syfy but it goes in some relatively interesting directions, and I think it's cool that Internet-based media is getting more exposure

Of course, Kris himself has rather little to actually DO with the project so if it eats ass then it's not his fault

They can't rack up the dread quite like Kris can tho

I actually had an idea. Okay, so you guys know the creepypasta called 'The Pill'? The one with the pills that are mind controlling starfish bits who make surfacer society eat them, mind control them and make them destroy all life on the surface for the lulz. Well, had a stretch of an idea to run in Dark Heresy. But instead of starfish bits, the source of one planet's miracle pill that they are desperately peddling to the rest of the system and then the Imperium is...aboleths.

>>49865251
I didn't mind the early episodes, but once they started bringing in other people and especially Carlos, it just fell flat for me. Everything was much more compact and fun when it was only from the perspective of Cecil and you couldn't be sure how much of it was true and what was his perspective on things. I always liked to imagine his relationship with Carlos being purely in his head.

As cliche as it is, I do have to say that Lovecraft had one story that always gave me chills, especially when 'HOW QUICKLY THE TIDE TURNS' Wayne June reads it, The Music of Erich Zann

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDSsXLnnKmo
>>
>>49865251
I've listened to a handful, and they were pretty good. I can see how it would be fatigueing though.

That "Episode About You" one was FUCKING GOLD though. A perfect use of *proper* Lovecraftian horror, which is to say it wasn't "hey look, tentacles". They really get it.
>>
>>49862769
Hours late reply and a bump all the same.

Yeah. The worst one had a fully reality based explanation, but at the time, I didn't know due to a big enough storm on it's way they started diverting planes. I mean, I knew the storm was going to be coming, but I didn't worry since I'd still be able to get home easy enough.

But still, those moments are good for horror stories. Those moments where you find yourself wondering if something is actually happening, or maybe you just don't have all the info and are jumping to conclusions.

Is that dark shape across the street that lingers in the basement stairwell something watching you? Or is the hobo who went down them a few minutes ago just hanging his coat on the railing to get out of the rain?
