Worst model: the AoS Fyreslayers. At least it looks like they tried with that Razorgor in terms of giving it detail. The Fyreslayers are just shameless copypasting design wise.

Best model: pic (though not sure if FW counts here though they are part of GW's current range.) Most badass Daemon Engine design with a very simple yet creative idea of a giant fucking scorpion robodaemon armed to the brim with powerful weapons.

Worst? Space Marine Centurion. It's the trifecta of bad concept, bad execution, and bad thematically for the marquee army of the 40k range.

Best? That's harder, because there's a lot to love in the GW catalog and context matters. I'll stick to 40k even though the fantasy minis are excellent. I'm also intentionally skipping characters and huge monsters/vehicles because IMO this is a wargame and the most important part of an army is its core troopers. So getting them right is important even if they don't get a lot of love from reviewers/critics.

I'd say the Eldar Dire Avengers. They're pretty, the fit with the army concept is perfect, they look great as a backbone unit, and the multi-pose means you can have a lot and they still all look unique and cool. Customizeable, with lots of options. Highly detailed, but not over-wrought like some of the other new stuff. Clean lines without being overly simplistic.

If I didn't think modern GW would fuck it up, I'd be still at the edge of my seat wondering when we'd see plastic aspect warriors. In fact, if you made them all compatible, people could make their own Autarks. Instead, we have the same old resin crap.

Runners up: the new Stormtroopers are very nice and fit well. The Armageddon Steel Legion looks fantastic, even the basic soldiers. The Dark Eldar Reaver Jetbikes. The basic Tau infantry look very good-- fire warriors and pathfinders; they're kind of a What Might Have Been for a lot of IG. But none really pop to me like Dire Avengers.

Dont know about current, but some of the skaven clan eshin look really dumb.

That said: My hellp pit abomination is fucking rad. I love the look.

Also true. Ironically, I think Dorghar Archaon was the high water mark of GW making big, ridiculous character models that still worked. He's a beautiful figure, and while ranking him up was somewhat impractical it wasn't *impossible*.
As has been said many times, he's detailed but clean, has a lot of character, and the rider is still clearly the focus of the model despite the fact that he's mounted on a rearing, snarling demon-horse.

Worst Model: Probably the Pumbagor already posted for me. It just looks so fucking stupid and it's monopose as well so if you ever wanted a regiment of them then it just looked terrible.
The Minos from the same range look bad, but honestly I think that was just GW going for "Roid Raging Beastmen" as a look and doing it TOO well, so at least I can say that they did that on purpose.
