The UC Gunslinger is now finished and ready for initial playtesting. With this the three planned Unchained classes are done.

The Unchained Gunslinger is a class that mechanically aims to be a martial debuffer, with the ability to use trick shots and other deeds to inflict status conditions at a distance. As well they are now able to perform many utility actions both in and out of combat through the use of contraptions, which often have the ability to replicate spells and other such effects. As well the overall competence of the gunslinger has been increased by making their firearm training actually reduce misfire values, rather than simply adding damage.

I really see no reason to put a limit on exploding dice. It may seem scary that it could potentially go on forever, but I don't think it's that bad because the chance is so small. What's the worst that will happen, the group will have a good laugh and everyone will remember that time you gained 100 hp from shooting a guy in the face? That seems worth it to me.

Also I think The Mysterious Stranger is much closer to what you guys want out of a UC Gunslinger. It gets rid of contraptions entirely so you have no "Gadgeteer" stuff. Also it has spooky "guy who whispers to you" stuff with the Coal Cloak.

Coal: The Mysterious Stranger is one that appears and disappears at a moment’s notice, sinking into the shadows. If the Mysterious Stranger stands still in an area of dim light or darker while in the persona of The Stranger for at least one round he becomes invisible. From this invisible state he may only take two actions, move and whisper, any others will break the invisibility. Moving he may jump between pools of shadow up to twenty feet apart as a move action or move at up to half speed. He must make stealth checks as normal while moving. If the Mysterious Stranger Whispers he is able to recreate the spell Sow Thoughts, using his charisma modifier to determine the saving DC, except the duration is instantaneous rather than permanent. If at any point the Stranger is exposed to any light above dim he becomes visible again. The Mysterious Stranger may stay invisible in this way for up to one hour per level per day.

This is one of the colors you may have as a cloak for your cloak of many colors.

I mostly put a limit on it because all the exploding dice are limited by the character's modifier. Also for play it's mostly to stop situations where the person keeps having to say "I gotta roll one more dice, just one more dice". While sometimes funny it can also be annoying.

Would a variant Ranger that takes away combat style feats, favored terrain, and/or spellcasting, in exchange for a variant Favored Enemy class feature that is more general but based on the favored enemy type, be welcome?


Favored Enemy; Undead ranger gets the general bonuses for a favored enemy, but also starts with Detect Undead as a cantrip and disable device, as well as the ability to treat any weapon they attune as a holy symbol of their diety. But, a Favored Enemy, Animal, ranger would possibly start with Scent, the ability to use Survival to track while moving at full speed, and Wild Empathy or something along it's lines. Then it would blossom later into talent choices, like; say, an undead-focused ranger can choose either to take Turn/control undead (Depending on good or evil), or something like the Bones Oracle's defensive ability, while the animal ranger can later choose to grab the wizard's Feral Speech arcane discovery, or a natural armor source, or so on.

Like, the idea ringing in my head which might not be coming out right is, a ranger; or whatever this concept is; is specialized on hunting X thing, but the skills they get along the way should be applicable to other situations in general. ALso Outsiders and Humanoids should just be their own one groups instead of Outsider (Lawful) or Humanoid (Gnome) to my mind.

Could someone give me some advice on how to play a good low level alchemist?

It's 20 point buy, and let's pretend that all of the other necessary roles are filled so I can play in alignment with the class as opposed to filling an unnecessary and poorly suited role.

I have no problem creating a character backstory and all really. But the worldbuilding the last GM requested of me reeked of "I have only a very basic gist of the campaign i want to run and will let the players make all the flavor" yes it was that fluffy tail campaign that was memed here a while ago . When you have just a basic concept in mind and other players have already fluffed entire *nations* it can be a tad demoralizing.

So I just realized something kind of neat. In PF's timeline each year our time the golarion timeline advances 1 year. In Reign of Winter in 2013 it was 1918 on earth.

Which means at the beginning of Strange Aeons, now, it's 1921. It involved H.P. Lovecraft, and how the timeline links up the AP begins just after H.P. lovecraft lost his mother, who died during surgery in a mental institution. Apparently this fucked him up badly as she wrote letters to him constantly. This is what really kicked off Lovecraft's paranoia and deteriorating mental state.

I hope that gets tied into Stange Aeons.

Also something cool to consider is that in 18 years, if pathfinder still exists, WWII will begin on earth in their timeline.

If I run a one-campaign thing with the idea they're all students training at a dojo or something and teach the mechanics one by one in character like a game tutorial, what sort of stuff should I include?

After our Oracle was killed and our Barbarian reduced to ashes, all that remained was the walking abomination that is my Bloodrager and my friend the Ratfolk Alchemist. Beneath the ruins of Giltspur we happened to come across an Oread Ranger and Human Warpriest (HOW CONVENIENT). After saving a deva which was trapped in a demon's body (demiliches be cruel yo), we hopped straight into Leng and fought off some nightgaunts. Writing the Coal colored Cloak of Many Color's abilities is actually pretty fun.

Right now if you upgrade the cloak you can get the following:

I have. My last pvp game was actually a level 15 game taking place in modern day san francisco with DSP content allowed. Each PC had a NPC we were supposed to protect.

It turned out rather well, none of us could actually manage to finish anyone else before they could escape until the end of the 4th day.

It was a Fate/Stay Night theme'd game. I played as Assassin. The game ended up much closer to the plot of an actual Holy Grail War than any of us expected. Thor was an asshat who summoned a fucking typhoon on top of San Francisco and Vlad the lmpaler had a metal crafting ability, hijacked the international space station and crashed it into San Francisco shaped as a massive spear. I ended up getting my summoner kidnapped and had to betray the church in an attempt to steal command seals.

Yeah, the rules changed a bit to "full initiators use the archetype table for maneuver access", and spheres is pretty easy, you put talents into a sphere or spheres and then cast those abilities for their spell point cost. That combo would be pretty sick, though desu a spheres magus//ambush hunter ranger would be awesome.
The only reason I'm not a spheres hunter//ambush hunter ranger is because having two separate animal companions is too much what with the Squire feat showing up later.

I don't doubt that spheres is simple, it just would have been a lot of new information to try to learn in the... Two days (max) that the applications were open for. I tend to try to map out a general character plan up to 12th minimum, including all the spells I would be thinking of using. Doing that on top of PoW scared me off. Noob here, so let me make sure I have natural attacks straight: attacking with ONLY natural attacks does not give you bonus attacks based on high BAB. You just use your highest BAB for primary and -5 for secondary. However, you can use a manufactured weapon to take all your BAB extra attacks, then attack at a -5 penalty with natural attacks if the body part is not wielding anything.

Is that right?

Secondly: if one is wielding a 2 handed weapon, one can do a full attack with it, then adjust grip (free action?) to take a swipe with 1 of their claws?

Is this kosher?

I'm not super well-versed but it seems like going "all natural" even with 2-3 primary natural attacks would drop off later especially since enchancing your body a la magic weapon seems more limited. Though it seems like some classes/races get more out of it than others (barb/bloodrager).

Basically this other GM I sometimes play with runs games with some irregular players. Three players (including myself) are new (within the context) to the currently existing storyline. Me playing an oracle, Some guy playing a paladin and a third party playing a ranger which is the object of the paladin's affections apparently. Session 1, the paladin reveals himself to be your typical that guy that pushes everyone around and thinks he's instantly the group leader both IC and OOC, I notice that he also flirts a little bit with the ranger who plays along to an extent. I decide to keep quiet hoping I'm just misreading the player.

Session 5 comes in and the Paladin is still an asshole but the Ranger begins flirting with my PC. Normally I would politely decline but feeling the paladin player twitch through the internet gives me this very idea. Two more sessions later the ranger is sweet on my pc and you can pretty much feel the paladin's dream start to get crushed.

Anyway I intend to continue and let the paladin have his way as "muh divine leadership" (that no one listens to) while I wave what he wants and cannot have to his face.

Campaign itself is also pretty good so its a plus. Maybe I'll stop with the ranger when the paladin leaves but really, having him observe the cucking is motivation enough to play the game.

Roll a d7 and a d19 for race and class. Roll for how you feel about the conflict. Then roll between the alignments you qualify for. For traits/drawbacks flip a coin for whether or not you have a drawback then roll for traits.

Does anyone know about a good third-party or homebrew way of doing werewolves? I'm going for a more classic regular-man-loses-control-and-becomes-terrifying-beast-when-he-hears-the-call-of-the-moon-and-the-hunt feel, and this:

just isn't cutting it. I've got a boss who's going to shift in the middle of the fight in a big reveal, and I want it terrifying and dangerous, but look at the numbers, he does more damage in human mode than with his claws.

If course, I could just up his weapon's damage die and SAY he's attacking with claws, but that feels a little lame.

Lots of good options there, but your choice will probably be best informed by what you're looking to get out of the character.

An urban master of the streets will get lots of play out of the theurgic brigand archetype, while a more nature themed character with a neat pet should go ellusive wildling. The orders work well too, ghastly claw is good for shit you can't smite while wandering heart will be an unstoppable mind controller, but they suffer from making your build crazy MAD.
