Do the Steel Legion have any books? I don't just mean black library novels, but also Forge World stuff that gives a break down of individual regiment organization.
I have a feel for Steel right now.
Nothing?
>>49704044
No. They're not Cadians, the greatest of all Imperial Guardsmen
>>49704044
No not really outside of white dwarf and Ammageddon books.
Sad really Steel Legion is my favorite regiment.
>>49704671
Or Catachan, the hardass yet personable men which North American audiences can sympathize with.
>>49704044
>Do the Steel Legion have any books
No, paper is forbidden on Armageddon.
See, I could have sworn they'd popped up in a Forge World book some where. This is very disheartening.
Krieg stole their look too. Steel Legion can't catch a break.
>>49704761
Actually, Steel Legion stole Krieg's look. The old Krieg models were very similar to the 'new' Steel Legion models.
>>49704761
>>49704794
How close is Armageddon to Krieg? Is Arma a look at what Krieg "would" be like if it wasn't a radioactive shithole and its men weren't brainwashed into semi-servitors?
>>49704794
>The old Krieg models
They didn't have models before Forge World started developing them, just an image in one of those various Guard listings. Steel Legion had a model range before the Kriegers did, and White Dwarf had a guide for converting Steel Legion models into Death Korp.
This was back during the world-wide Armageddon Campaign.
>>49704694
I can't really relate to a fusion of tarzan and rambo.
>>49704694
I'll always find funny that the Space Rambo 'nam guard is one of the less grim regiments of the Imperium.
Specially since Vietnam is second only to WW1 in the "war is horrible, everyone gets free PTSD and warcrime charges" popular culture.
>>49704044
damn shame
>>49704044
They are featured in Epic: Armageddon
>>49704700
>>49704761
>>49704794
Krieg are WW1 French, Steel are WW2 Germans.
>yfw you're getting compared to the disgusting infantry filth of Kreig
The nerve
>>49704700
>>49704794
the old "krieg models" are convereted steel legion models....
>>49708466
>Krieg
>French
Nice meme
>>49708466
>Krieg are WW1 French
Krieg are a wild mix of ww1 armies and unforms
>>49704671
This is what I don't understand, how can Cadia export so many soldiers if they need every available body to hold the Cadian Gate from basically everyone?
I can understand standard-issue Guardsman all looking like Cadians, but what the fuck.
>>49708659
Cadia isn't under siege, or even under threat of siege 24/7.
There are centuries of nothing happening on or around Cadia, and during such times they send their Regiments throughout the empire to collect experience.
>>49708659
They don't export soldiers, they just export equipment. I think it's literally said in one of the codexes (Codex? Codi?) that other guard regiments base themselves off of Cadians in appearance and tactics.
>>49706993
Outside of US (and Vientam), the vietnam war is on par with Korea in terms of how much it's remembered. Rambo is literally how Brits who made the game would see Vietnam.
>>49708726
That's not what they meant. Cadia has sent hundreds of regiments off world to fight all over the Imperium. It's because of that that many planets have seen Cadian regiments and because of their success modelled their own forces to emulate the Cadians.
>>49704044
The only thing that comes to mind is the third edition Armageddon codex that includes rules and some information of the Steel Legions, Salamanders, Black Templars and Speed Freaks I believe.
It's pretty light though, about 30 pages IIRC.
>>49708495
You are correct.
>>49710365
This book, I believe, was the first reference to the Death Korps of Krieg and they were basically a paint scheme for the metal Steel Legion models.
>>49709256
Most of the people who worked at Games Workshop in that early era were History graduates.
They knew the reality they just choose a more light hearted approach.
>>49709606
Or simply because GW made one series of guardsmen with a typical sci-fi light infantry look, and they decided to fluff cadia as the corresponding planet in the codex.
>>49709256
What? Hell no. Vietnam had a lot of cultural impact in Europe, we saw the hippies, Nixon... Then came the mad war flicks like FMJ, Apocalypse Now... Compared to it, Korea is the literally who of wars. Barely more known than Grenada Invasion.
>>49708523
their greatcoats, gaiters, officers helmets and breastplates are ww1 french.
But like most IG regiments, death korps is linked to a theater or a period rather than a particular country.
