planetary defenses and adeptus arbites alone (the only defenders most hive worlds have) would not, and would be overrun without support unless they happen to be very well equipped (Mars has stuff on the planet/system) or some chapter recruits there

They're from Gears of War. Their strengths include being really burly and equipped on about the same level as wherever they're infesting. They use horde tactics and command a great deal of infantry from wretches to krill swarms to I think some giant monsters.

They have a lot of giant monsters. Almost all their vehicles are monsters. They also have artillery that somehow disrupts radio communications.

Most of their movement is done underground, because they have huge burrowing animals to make tunnels for them.

IIRC, the humans in gears of war had to switch to chainsaw bayonets because your average locust has skin tough enough that it requires a huge amount of force to pierce it.

All that considered, if they're limited to just one planet they're your typical hostile xenos. They get exterminated by a full force of IG and maybe Astartes, but only them if the ministorum cares about the planet or they have really heretical behavior.

Imagine Chaos tainted locust and locust beasts.
