It is 445 years since the Battle of Lepanto, a naval engagement in which a fleet of the Holy League (a coalition of European Catholic maritime states arranged by Pope Pius V, led by Spanish admiral Don John of Austria and mostly financed by the Spanish Empire), decisively defeated the fleet of the Ottoman Empire on the northern edge of the Gulf of Corinth, off western Greece. The Ottoman forces sailing westwards from their naval station in Lepanto met the Holy League forces, which came from Messina, Sicily, where they had previously gathered. The victory of the Holy League prevented the Ottoman Empire from expanding further along the European side of the Mediterranean. Lepanto was the last major naval battle in the Mediterranean fought entirely between galleys and has been assigned great symbolic and historical importance by several historians.

Don John's fleet consisted of 206 galleys and 6 gallasses (large galleys that mounted artillery). The Ottoman admiral Ali Pasha commanded 230 galleys and 56 galliots (small galleys). As the fleets sighted each other, they formed for battle. For the Holy League, Don John, aboard the galley Real, divided his force into four divisions, with the Venetians under Agostino Barbarigo on the left, himself in the center, the Genoese under Giovanni Andrea Doria on the right, and a reserve led by Álvaro de Bazán, Marquis de Santa Cruz in the rear. In addition, he pushed gallasses out in front of his left and center divisions where they could bombard the Ottoman fleet

Flying his flag from Sultana, Ali Pasha led the Ottoman center, with Chulouk Bey on the right and Uluj Ali on the left. As the battle opened, the Holy League's gallasses sank two galleys and disrupted the Ottoman formations with their fire. As the fleets neared, Doria saw that Uluj Ali's line extended beyond his own. Shifting south to avoid being flanked, Doria opened a gap between his division and Don John's. Soon Doria's ships were duelling with Uluj Ali's.
>>
>>49659581

To the north, Chulouk Bey succeeded in turning the Holy League's left flank, but determined resistance from the Venetians, and the timely arrival of a gallass, beat off the attack. Shortly after the battle began, the two flagships found each other and a desperate struggle began between Real and Sultana. Locked together, Spanish troops were twice repulsed when they tried to board the Ottoman galley and reinforcements from other vessels were needed to turn the tide. On the third attempt, with aid from Álvaro de Bazán's galley, Don John's men were able to take Sultana killing Ali Pasha in the process.

Against the wishes of Don John, Ali Pasha was beheaded and his head displayed on a pike. The sight of their commander's head had a severe impact on Ottoman morale and they began withdrawing around 4 PM. Uluj Ali, who had success against Doria and captured the Maltese flagship Capitana, retreated with sixteen galleys and twenty-four galliots.

At the Battle of Lepanto, the Holy League lost 50 galleys and suffered approximately 13,000 casualties. This was offset by the freeing of a similar number of Christian slaves from the Ottoman ships. In addition to the death of Ali Pasha, the Ottomans lost 25,000 killed and wounded and an additional 3,500 captured. Their fleet lost 210 ships, of which 130 were captured by the Holy League. Coming at what was seen as a crisis point for Christianity, the victory at Lepanto stemmed Ottoman expansion in the Mediterranean and prevented their influence from spreading west. Though the Holy League fleet was unable to exploit their victory due to the onset of winter weather, operations over the next two years effectively confirmed a division of the Mediterranean between the Christian states in the west and the Ottomans in the east.

Miguel de Cervantes lost the use of an arm in this battle and therefore he is known as el manco de Lepanto (the one-armed man of Lepanto) in the Hispanic world.

Lepanto is a massive and historic clash that would look spectacular on the table. It combines elements of both land and naval Renaissance warfare, with two diverse and gloriously-bedecked armies. Both sides are about as balanced as it could get in this situation and it all comes down to competent command and making use of the strengths of one's side while exploiting the weaknesses of the other. I don't really know what system could work best - DBR could cover it but that was very poor for simulating anything naval. I've included a link below to a fast-and-easy Juniorgeneral rendition of the battle. There is also a recently published set called Galleys Guns and Glory which would definitely be worth a look.

I asked a question near the end of last thread and didn't get much in the way of suggestions, so I thought I'd repost it here:
I got a bit of a not-really-historical question here: In the opinion of the naval enthusiasts here, which era of ships would be most fun for a Strangereal-style world where tons of small countries with full navies exist, and pirates and mercenaries and the like own and operate proper warships? Anywhere from pre-dreadnaught ironclads all the way to 70s-80s Harpoon era could work for me.
Any thoughts?
>>
>>49660261
I would almost tend towards age of sail, its a bit simpler and you can really play on the superstitions of the men if you want to add supernatural or strange things going on. Russo-Japanese era pre-dreadnaughts would also be very cool.
>>
What's /tg/'s go to rule set for ultra modern combat (late 80s to 2020 or so) for squad/platoon sized engagements? I've been looking at Spectre's new rules and Force on Force, and I'd like to pick up something that provides a realistic yet not overly complicated system for some cool operators operating things I can whip up for friends that would be easy to explain.
>>
>>49660374
I kinda had this idea because I want some Age of Sail-style stuff without being age of sail, and with more modern stuff. I do like the turn-of-the-century idea, especially since it means dreadnaughts and pre-dreadnaughts co-existing, which is always fun
>>
>>49660569
I can't vouch for them personally, but both Fivecore and Skirmish Sangin are squad-level moderns games that get a lot of positive buzz. I don't think we actually have them on file but when I get home I can upload Skirmish Sangin and some supplements.

Those Spectre minis do look amazing but I haven't heard anything about their rules. Force on Force has a good following but it's probably one of those games where the expansions make it better.
>>
>>49660985
This sounds like you want World War I.

Or Russo-Japanese war.
>>

I'll check them out. I saw Skirmish Sangin before but for some reason didn't get a good in depth look at it. Thanks anon!

Does anyone know what kind of differences existed between the military of west and east francia after the Carolingian dynasty passed. I can't seem to find much
>>
>>49660569
Squad, FiveCore. Platoon... Eh. I don't like FiveCore at that level, and the higher-level FiveCore games are too high level for it.

No End in Sight is another Weasel game that fits, but not quite my thing.

I find Skirmish Sangin way too crunchy.

That looks like the old 1977 Matchbox set - Monty, the POW, and the Bren gunners with the Tam O'Shanter give it away. I guess it got repackaged as Revell? Because Revell's "8th Army Scottish Infantry" were actually kinda good. Whoever the manufacturer is though, that flash is indeed hideous.

Yep thats the one. I guess it is the old matchbox repack. The mini's are badass but the flashing will take a bit of time to remove to a good standard.
I'm started to get my brits in order now that my soviets are looking pretty good. Once you order 4 aerosani's you know you have pretty much everything and can move on

FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDS TO STRIP PAINT FROM A PLASTIC MINIATURE:
>Brake fluid.
works a charm. Doesn't damage the mini, and removes all the paint. Leave to soak for a day or two, longer if the paint is very thick and/or old.
I had a figure crusted in very thick 5 year old paint, and soaked in brake fluid for 2 weeks, the paint just rubbed off, just needs a scrub with a soft brush.

I always had a minor problem with Matchbox dudes being slightly smaller than dudes of other lines. For example their Commando box, they're some of the best 1:76 minis ever made, but they were noticeably "weedier" compared to the German minis I had them fighting. But I loved the shot sentry and the rubber dinghy.

She was later transferred to the Royal Navy, as HMS Leamington and to the Soviet Navy as Zhguchi, before returning to Britain to star in the film The Gift Horse, which depicts the St. Nazaire Raid.

I don't get how Revell gets away with releasing old kits like this without fixing or even upgrading the molds. I worked for Playmobil as machine operator a couple of years ago and we checked and fixed the molds all the time when they were not in a machine to actually mold. There are almost as many "tool-makers" (the guys who make and fix the molds) as there are machine operators.
Something like your pic would be impossible there.

Re-boxing is one thing (and a good one in my opinion, because otherwise lots of kits/minis would be unavailable over time) but they seem to have no quality control whatsoever.

Then again, i have no idea what exactly their target audience is for their 1:72 miniatures. I (and basically all my friends) played with Revell 1:72 kits and soldiers as kids because they are in every toy store in Germany. Of course we didn't care about things like mold lines. If they see their minis as "toy" then i could understand their lack of quality control. They seem to ignore the wargaming market entirely (their catalogue never show any kind of wargame at all in fact) while companies like Italeri and Zvezda do recognize and support "us".
>>

Ospreys Black ops could be used. It zas very little crunch, so you could play scenarios from ww2 to 2020 (even earlier and later) but you'd need to housrule stuff. It's a really generic system, so that might not be what your looking for. Also afaik it really shines when you play asymmetrical with stealthmode on. It's pretty much ripped off (and modified) from the 4th (?) 40k edition stealth/killteam mode.
>>
>>49662892
No bigger than 10mm, at least for the land miniatures.
>>
>>49664396
A sharp hobby knife and some patience will help you a ton. The old Matchbox kits are awesome and I'm glad Revell got the rights for them, especially the NATO Paratroopers (which are pretty much spot on in scale with the ACTA British Infantry of the 70s), and the two kits for the desert are really awesome. My critique of the German box would be the bad MG34, but if you can source one from Revell's own Afrika Korps kit, you're basically set. If you want to do some proper shit with them, grab the two Airfix kits for North Africa, they are absolutely compatible, and you'll get much more options. And as the "only redeeming factor"...the Vickers and the mortar are nice too, it's rare to see them along with this many useful poses.

>>49665267
True, and Revell would benefit a lot from reissuing their old sets. The kits for Waterloo, the Thirty Years War kits, the Seven Years War boxes...they were awesome, and mostly sought after by collectors. Their artillery sets are among the best (enough guns, crew and extras like limbers, ammo boxes and so forth), and they made some pretty uncommon shit (French Chasseur e Cheval, German Pioneers, and so forth).

>>
>>49666524
It all just depends on the ruleset you choose to use, more than the minis. But yeah, you could at least play Victory at Sea or Naval War on table that size. I don't remember what the standard size for GQ3 is. But you can always just do it like the oldsters used to do, and play on the floor.
>>
>>49664396

Also, those Revell figs you posted, look to be exactly in the same poses as army men I used to own ages ago, funny that.

interestingly the Ottomans were not much concerned about the loss of their fleet at Lepanto. In the same year they took Cyprus finally from the Venetians. One Ottoman diplomat to Venice described the loss of Cyprus as the loss of a limb, which can never grow back, and the loss of the fleet at Lepanto as the loss of a beard, which grows back all the stronger and better from the razor.

I realised the owl thing after I did the transfers as you've got to reverse it, I'm a doofus.

They're for a game I'm developing where it's more 'heroic' with bands of heroes and warriors a la ancient Mordheim. So this is one heroes group that's why they're uniform. It's not truly historical rather more mythological.

Thank you for the kind words!

I noticed today on this bulldozer that the only place that is shiny metal is where the cleats contact the drive and guide wheels. Hussites are a great army to wargame with. All those glorious war wagons. Along with horse people and HYW armies they're one of the real power lists in DBM. I think this was one of the last Ospreys that MacBride illustrated before his death.

Rosemary & Co make some pretty damn good brushes for cheap. Check Lead Adventure Forums for details, as I can't remember which ones are recommended for painting miniatures.

For paint, eh, I pay Foundry prices and get my triads. Not that cheap, but you get almost twice the volume of GW paints and I like triads as I am bad at colours and lazy. They make good paint.

Coat d'arms are good too, being basically the classic GW paints (in bigger pots)

Both (and some other ranges) are actually manufactured by the same people anyway.

Does anyone know a good reference for naval ships from the high renaissance to early modern period?
I'm specifically looking for speeds, size, tonnage and what level of crew was needed to man them. On a longshot, if anyone knows how many whales could get hauled in a whaling expedition, how much oil could get made from one whale and how long it would take or how much whale a normal expedition could get; that would be helpful as well.
I'm thinking I might try and pick up a gurps supplement to see if it has that sort of info. Is gurps well researches for that sort of thing?
>>
>>49678665
>the high renaissance to early modern period?

That's quite a broad sweep, but your best bet would be checking out individual Osprey Vanguard titles for different ship types of that era. Both our Mediafire and new Mega folders up in the OP have most of them.

I do have a great whaling resource from Time Life's Seafarers series, which should answer most of your questions there.

https://mega.nz/#!mwtWgbxD!Asce3KdRAur-pCKTOt6xiNK4uRBv_Siyowesn7ASDcM

>Is gurps well researches for that sort of thing?

Regardless on one's opinions about the system, GURPS sourcebooks are definitely well-researched and written by relevant experts. They always make a great resource regardless of what you're actually playing. They have a helpful general, ask them what books you would need.

>>
>>49678731
Alright, then. So check out the osprey vanguard titles. It's like a 3-400 year sweep but I'm planning for a generic age of sail deal and it's been hard to find anything that zeroes in on one era in paticular.
I'll check out the gurps general then. I don't play gurps but I've always heard they're very well researched.
Hell, a buddy of mine used the gurps cyberpunk book since it gives a good overview of how the internet worked in the 90's and the process behind real world hacking. Though they got in trouble for hiring actual notorious hackers as consultants on it.
>>
>>49677315
It totally depends. I think some of the molds are kinda "open source" in china with lots of manufacturers around and all make the same minis. (Or maybe they all come from the same huge factory?)
Some are good quality plastic with little flash, others are extremely soft with more flash than actual miniature.
Prices are awesome of course. Haven't checked those for almost 15 years, but when i was a child, they were sold in bags of 150 men (+ a few tanks and other stuff) for like 2-3€. I had thousands... especially this set (link related) was very common

The thing with that is Bulldozers don't tend to drive on paved roads so much. Many tanks would have/do, hence the introduction of rubber pads to protect the surface. When vehicles with steel-only tracks move on harder surfaces or paved roads, you would get the metal showing through.
>>
>>49672984
Sure

I think of it as a mix of Muskets and Tomahawks/SAGA/Dux Britanorum. It has the 'your dudes' and general ease of play of M&T. Some abilities like those found in SAGA and the campaign focus and character of Dux Brit.

The basic idea is you have a Greek Hero and his retinue who are dedicated to a god. Different gods give different abilities which are rolled for before the battle (this is based off a number of factors performance, hubris etc). The abilities are a bit more limited in number when compared to the likes of SAGA but add flavour and choices when playing.

Bulldozers hardly drive at all actually. They drive off their truck that brought them to the construction site and there they move like 20m-50m back and forth.. you can't compare that to tanks that might drive hundreds of kilometers.

Men Doing Kings is pretty neat. It's clearly in the Rampant family, but does a bunch of stuff differently and is quite a distinct game, unlike Lion & Dragon Rampant, which are basically a game and its fantasy expansion.

It's got differing unit sizes, a basic 1 die per figure mechanic as opposed to Rampant's 12/6 dice, some neat leadership/unit commander stuff. I like it a lot and can't wait to get a few non-trial games in, hopefully this weekend.

Alright. Just for clarification, the game takes place on a map of the Caribbean with several famous ports generating resources, but that's not included here, and besides that is rules as normal in the base game. I'll post a PDF of those (including some weird pseudo-campaign rules with them) I found in my next post.

I'd be happy to answer any questions, by the way, hoping to try this out in the next few weeks.

Oh, and included in my file is a brief idea for a campaign, a hunt for an artifact that the Cursed have. That bit can be changed for any specific campaign, but the majority of the rules are at the bottom.

Modern African Wars (5): The Nigerian-Biafran War 1967–1970 (Osprey Men-at-Arms 507)

With decades of research to draw from Philip Jowett explores this extraordinary David-and-Goliath conflict, where the rag-tag Igbo tribal army of secessionist Biafra faced off against the Nigerian Federal forces. It was an African war that captured the attention of the western media, with individual commanders such as Biafran leader Colonel Ojukwu and Federal Colonel Adekunle becoming familiar figures across the globe. The Nigerian forces easily outnumbered their opponents and benefitted from British and Soviet equipment, yet against all the odds the Biafrans held out for two and a half years, inflicting many setbacks on the Federal forces before their eventual surrender in 1970. Specially commissioned artwork and historical photos, including some from respected Italian war photographer Romano Ganoni, reflect the diverse array of uniforms and equipment on both sides, with images ranging from Sandhurst-educated officers in immaculate uniform to ragged militiamen armed with World War II kit.

So I was looking to get into historical wargaming, and was most interested in it being set around the late 16th-early 17th century. Where should I get models for that, and what rules would I use?
>>
>>49705116
Which scale were you thinking of? Baccus offers starter armies for that period in 6mm, as well as Pendraken. For rules, you could check out Sam Mustafa's Maurice, or Black Powder with the Last Argument of Kings.
>>
>>49705116
My advice would be to pick a conflict from that period that really interests you, then google miniatures and rule sets. You could look through the OP folders under Horse_and_Musket and see what takes your fancy.

Personally I find Thirty Years War (1618 - 1648) to be a very cool period, I read through the "Lutzen" osprey (in the OP folders) and was instantly hooked. very interesting period with colorful characters and pretty cool tactics and combined arms.
You could use the Pike and Shotte system, and get miniatures from Warlord, although they're 28mm and rather expensive:
http://www.warlordgames.com/tag/thirty-years-war/

Father Tilly is another decent rule set for the period:
http://www.wargamevault.com/product/63303/Father-Tilly

It may be cheaper to go for a smaller scale like 10mm, which a few companies do Thirty years war minis in.
Irregular miniatures do army deals: and will even paint them for you if you want!

I know the feel; I bought the whole paperback set in 1998 when "The Sharpe Companion" came out, then he went and wrote all the prequel novels. But it's been nine years and Cornwell's never talked about a new one since, so you should be safe.

What he should do is a series about Sharpe and Teresa's daughter - she had some literally killer genes. Imagine her swashbuckling adventures in the Carlist War or maybe colonial South America.

Whats your opinion on german field grey uniforms on early war miniatures.
I don't want to argue about the "correct" shade of the color because in 2016 it should be clear that there were tons of different shades.

But when it comes to early war miniatures you often see them painted in the style of the squad at the left side (dark jacket, slightly lighter trousers or the way around) and not both parts of the uniform in the same grey like the minis on the right.

What style do you prefer?
>>
>>49707859

Except you're completely wrong Anon.

Unless you can prove he was calling her "a white person acting like a black person that's behaving like an angry monkey" and not simply "an angry monkey" you were in the wrong. "Chimp Out" is a racist way to call angry African-Americans monkeys yes, but if people started using it in instances when anyone (white/black/Asian) is angry it would remote it as a racist insult. The woman in the webm isn't even black baka.

I would argue there was no racist intent at all seeing how shes not black, or even Mediterranean in appearance (not white, in /pol/speech). Just an anon calling a person that lost their temper a monkey. Even if the poster is a racist hes using what he would consider a slur towards black people on a white person, that doesn't make any sense. Unless you say "Hes saying shes acting like a black person" but I can imagine a few things he could have said if he wanted to call her a black person. "Shes so smug for acting like a nigger" would be grounds for calling him /pol/.

Either way you shouldn't try and police the way someone speaks, he hasn't said anything racist, you've chosen to interpenetrate his choice of words as racist. If I call someone a monkey and you immediately assume I'm talking about a black person that tells us more about your character than mine desu senpai desu

>>
>>49709188
I don't know honestly.

I just looked for inspiration for my Blitzkrieg platoon and noticed that lots of early war germans are painted with 2 different colors and assumed it might be because it gives a bit of variety to the minis.. to make them less "boring" to look at instead of using the same color for everything.

I still haven't finally decided how i want to paint mine.. currently i'm thinking about painting the 3 squads differently: Fieldgrey + lighter pants, Fieldgrey + darker pants (like >>49709151 said) and squad 3 with all Fieldgrey.
But i fear that might take out the uniformity of the army to some degree.

So what exactly comes in the Dark Ages Pendraken packs? I might just be illiterate but I'm not sure what it means by 2, 6, 2 x N3. Does it mean 10 models of the medium foot spearmen? Cos that seems low seeing as it gives 30 cav models.

No that's gigantically oversized. The preferred is about 1:56 or thereabouts. Some go as large as 1:48 but I think even that is a bit big given it's closer to 40mm than 28mm, 'heroic' or otherwise.

Did some research, and it seems like you are right.

It's really disappointing that China never became a great naval power in the age of sail. Junks are kickass, and they could have easily mounted cannons on them.

I'm wondering though, if they would have formed battle lines, or if the manuverability of junks would have allowed them to be armed like galleys with forward facing guns.
>>
>>49715570
>the original sequel Devil is pretty meh, the Indian prequels okay, and the other prequels even more meh.
I can only agree. I'm currently reading through the entire series and I'm up to Sharpe's havoc, the book before Eagle, and the only books that were good were the three in India and the Rifles one.
>>
>>49711529
>>49711651
A bottle of black or white gesso is super cheap and convenient, like £5 on Amazon and it'll last you forever.
>>
Speaking of ships, are there any naval combat games set pre 18th century?
>>
>>49717469

I think we all know that prequels have problems, especially when the author tries to shoehorn in stuff from "later" stories. Rifles works well because Cornwell had originally written it to tbe the first novel, but decided to start with Eagle instead to "jump into the action". He had the draft for Rifles lying around for years so it feels a natural part of the series. The Indian ones were neat because it was exciting to return to the series, now with a young and (relatively) innocent Sharpe as a redcoat private, plus of course Hakeswill was back. Every novel in the original series had made some kind of reference to Sharpe killing the Tipu Sahib and/or saving Wellesley's life at Assaye, so it was great fun to actually 'see' these events finally happen.

But Cornwell really seems to have lost enthusiasm after that. Trafalgar and Prey were a real nadir; I give the first one a bit of a pass because I like the naval theme, but it's so lazy. Prey is worse, like someone doing a parody or weak fanfiction of Sharpe. I thought it was amusing how his love interest is brutally murdered but he doesn't give a shit; she really was just a plot device and he forgets about her completely in the next chapter. Pumphrey was such a non-event as a foil/patron/villain too.

Havoc, Escape and Fury were at least set in Spain, but again it was just going through the motions. They felt like reheated mishmashes of the original books. The only thing I remember from them is the luscious descriptions of the heroine's butt in Havoc, and how good it apparently looked in hussar trousers!

Devil itself was considered a book too far by some, but I always loved the opening chapter where Sharpe meets Napoleon on St Helena.

Very effective if used en masse - just like stalin ordered, but only 1 or two can be very hit and miss. Last game I took 2 katyushas and all they did was blow up a kubelwagon and damage the tracks on a Pz.IV. They didn't make their points back that day.

Actual calliopes are very cool too:

Technically mine don't either since I play USMC so I'd be better off with those Jeeps if I wanted something historically accurate but as far as I know they don't have rules in BA.

It's just a cool tank and I'm not going to let rivet counters tell me I can't have one, same with my 76mm.

Arguably it's Warlords fault, if the Sherman 105mm was any good I'd gladly take one but it's a bit pointless really.

Some sexy ACW miniporn on the Perry's Facebook right now.

So, currently working on a 1/1800 LSD ship mini for the noncombatant project (the same mediocre Axis&Allies sculpt someone else also posted already) plus a bunch of IJN destroyers and a converted HMS Exeter.

Just the basing to go at this point.

What are you guys working on?

How would one base for Black Powder in 6mm? This would be my first foray into BP, so I don't have a clue what the fuck I'm doing.
>>

20mm X 40mm Seems to be the way to go:
https://www.baccus6mm.com/forum/Rules/OtherRules/347-1-BlackPowderbasing/
http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=195967

you could probably do 20mm X 20mm for infantry like the BP rulebook specifies, just with like 8 minis instead of 4 or whatever fits right.
>>
>>49721636
I like the idea of 20mm X 20mm, but I'll probably try both and see what I like better in practice.

It's abandoned. The charge was being derelict on duty.

I'll see myself out.

This. I stopped using it once any Interesting or helpful discussion was buried by Armandposting. Some of the users are abrasive grogs but by and large it used to be a useful resource

If one were to go with 20mm x 20mm for infantry, would 25mm x 50mm also work for 6mm cavalry?

LAF is pretty great, but has intimidatingly high standards. Not in a nasty way, I get the feeling if I posted my mediocrities and a shitty battle report they'd be nice, but it would be like doodling on a blank canvas in a halfway-decent art gallery. Everything there is so nice.

At least Frothers would call me a wanker and I could tell them to fuck off and feel good about it.

TMP... TMP exists, if you can get around The Bug (seriously, fix your shit) and Armand Armandposting. It also goes offline for me at just the point in my morning when there's not too much to do and there are few enough people in I can get away with just browsing shit on my phone. Some cool stuff tucked away, but eh.

SA's TG historicals thread is pretty great, but not that high-traffic.

I subscribe to some yahoo groups and let the mails pile up, occasionally browsing them. Some of them are interesting, but effort.

I just generally subscribe to any blog I read an interesting post on and skim my giant RSS reader inbox daily.

Just click on a few threads in a random forum there, you'll know it when you see it. It's not always that big a deal, sometimes it's interesting, but the VOLUME...! And his inability to add anything interesting to his posts.

Glad you like it boys!

Amicalement

Armand.

It has a lot of great quality painters, especially in some of the historical boards, but trust me there are tonnes of shitters.

There is no excuse in 2016 to have to take your forum down DAILY for maintenance.

You can often (though not always) tell armand posting without clicking the link. His posting is beyond a joke.

It has its uses. if you need money to buy some toy soldiers in a hurry, start armandposting in /hwg/ and don't stop until people pay you to go away

Even SA's unfucking itself these days. Although they're talking about migrating to a whole new forum software package soon, which I'm sure will have people longing for the days of radium.

Bill's just... Bill. And fuck, it's a thousand times better than Consimworld.

The problem is the rocket launcher is kind of unique, if I found suitable rockets I could scratchbuild, but not sure about those.

This was my issue too, unfortunately I am a bit of a rivet counter (if only with my own army)

Check Aliexpress if you want to buy some very cheap, but quality brushes and other tools: http://pandahelper.com/modeling-tools-brushes-wargaming/

Especialy tools like pin vice, pliers, diamond files are basically GW quality but for 1/10th price. Brushes are really ok too.

Really nice anon, I want to start Athenian army too. Question: what transfer paper did you used? Is it possible to print it on ink printer?
>>
>>49724250
I don't know I'll find it out later in regards to what paper.

Yeah I used a shitty inkjet so the quality isn't great but it's servicable. There's good commercial transfers avaiable if you've got the budget.

Speaking of SA, they got a nice little historicals thread. It and /hwg/ are my main places to browse about pewter men having non-fictional wars.
