It generally depends on regiment, really. There are actually military forces now that have rules that say that if you find an order immoral to follow, then you can't be charged for not following that order.

It's also 100% possible there are conflicting regulations within the Munitorum. If a regiment can be sent to fight but in reality have been wiped out for many many years, then there's probably many more issues.
