So what would a Space Marine chapter be like if they prefered to burrow underground in combat?
Think a entire chapter of Marines that can travel underground like well armored mole people. Including vehicles.
Well there are those siege drill things for Krieg on FW. Functionally I think they'd be no different in operation than your normal SM force- it'd still be treated as deep striking. You're just doing it from the ground instead of the skies.
I suppose you could cook up some homebrew rules where a certain radius around a deep striking unit now counts as difficult/dangerous terrain, maybe the vehicles have a bonus to tank shocking.
Brother, the xenos are coming this way
Ok then, we shall launch a suprise attack
>Marines begin to claw at the ground like animals
I laughed, thanks OP

Sounds like a Space Marine Chapter made out of...
...Squats...

Perhaps something were a unit can attempt to drag a enemy unit underground? Like creating a artificial sink hole to disable heavy vehicles?

What chapter do you think they'd make good successors of? My guess is Fists. Possibly with a nice red-gold-brown/black color scheme.

Probably Fist.
They need to get past their walls somehow.

They'd probably have weapons similar to power fists / vibroblades, but drills instead.
Or vehicles with huge drills on the front.
I dunno, I like drills.

Yeah, but probably with power claws/drills to help them dig.

Pretty much this.
Return of the Mole Marines!

I could see fists.
They could have been standard imperial fist marines, however their recruiting world was primarily subterranean due to a hostile surface. This eventually bled into the chapter as destroying the enemies fortifications by destabilizing them from below proved to be effective, and the ability to appear in the center of an enemy formation undetected allowed the astartes to get into close quarters quicker, where their enhancements could be leveraged against their enemies.
