Because Slaanesh might be weaker than the other Chaos Gods, but it is still powerful enough to alter the balance of power between two disputing gods if it joins their team.

Also, Slaanesh's realm IS guarded by tons of daemons, and it's a realm that is literally subject purely to its will.

you're forgetting the part where these can turn into daemons, especially since they're the trapped souls of those who have fallen to Slaanesh's predations.

They exist, but it's much more of an "antibody" response than it is an actual defense. The thing about Slaanesh is that he WANTS you to intrude upon his realm, so you can fall prey to his will. If he doesn't want you there for some reason, though, Emperor preserve you, because you're gonna have a real fuckin bad time.
