>From last thread
Regarding summoned models counting towards the cost of a tournament pool:

Fair points regarding how far it cuts down Summoner versatility.
That would throw off the balance, potentially significantly.

The only counterpoint I could put to that is that, by limiting the number of choices available, and/or the number of physical models that can be summoned onto the table, it goes some small way to redress past issues of summoners eating up too much time in a time-limited round.

At 100ss, you're probably only bringing two or three Masters.
If one of them is a summoner (or you play Ressurs) then you probably already have an idea of what kind of Strats and Schemes you want to go for with those Masters (or crew modules), and will be planning summons accordingly.

I'm aware it's not the strongest argument, there is an impact, but I think that it is not as significant as the reaction last thread suggests.
>>
>>49325434
>>49325595
Is there a reason you couldn't use another company's blanks?
There must be a few out there that sell appropriately sized nearly naked blanks.
Hasslefree do a bunch of 28mm 'sky-clad' humans, but they're of barbarian-y proportions, so probably won't work for any but the henchest of Grems, even with the scale difference.

Most Gremlins have odd limb and body proportions and also they are on the small side.
I also only want about four or so.

Hey guys I'm building some misaki outcast lists that I've been throwing around adding in bishop and/or dr.grimwell. I'll be playing a blind deployment game for divergent paths (gotta get dat trickster) so I'm super tempted to get a bunch of hard hitting/tanky models and just make turn one a bloodbath. Do you guys have any recommendations?
>>
>>49326222
Definitely run a bunch of self sufficient models. The new Wokou Raiders would be solid minions. Disguised/Cutpure/Survivalist Misaki would be impossible to put down in such a disorganized deployment.

>>49326940
Can't decide between Misaki or Hamelin for my first Guilder model.
>>
>>49326890
Yeah I'm planning on running disguise, cutpurse, survivalist misaki so they can't charge, tempted to take ronin for similar reasons. And possibly a librarian for healing on ronin and jorogumo (even though they have built in healing). I feel I need another heavy hitter though which is why I'm considering grimwell
>>
>>49326989
Both are good I plan to get both eventually.
>>
>>49327006
Smoke and Shadows in a full Last Blossom crew might be worth considering. Counteract blind deployment by redeploying models everywhere.
>>
>>49327454
See blind deploy doesn't bother me, I'm gonna have the jorogumo and being able to put them into combat turn 1 is good. It's actually the reason I'm not taking a last blossom list this time round.

Thinking about Starting up Nico. I've got a buddy who's pretty deep into Ressers so I can borrow most of his stuff for summoning. But I'll need to pick it up eventually, if we ever face off against each other.

What are Nico's go to summons?
Punks are a big one, Belles seem pretty big too. Are there any other must haves?
>>
>>49328710
Hanged and Shikome are always useful. Guild Autopsies are a good option when you don't have high crows in hand. The rest are much more situational.
>>
>>49328710
You summon what you need at the time to accomplish your devious plans.

Generally you're best avoiding summoning for the sake of it.
>>
>>49328863
Are Guild Autopises usually a better option then dogs?

>>49329142
I'm not sure what you thought I was asking.
I know that you summon based on your situation. I'm asking what are the most important models to have on hand, ie, what will be useful in more situations. So I know what I should buy first.
>>
>>49329291
It depends. I like Autopsies because they can focus+shoot from their summon position a lot of the time, but dogs are solid too.
>>
>>49329455
That does seem like a bonus. The fact that they self heal is nice too, if you bring them in the early game.

Just got into Malifaux and these are my first models! I fell in love with the Death Marshalls and went from there. This was the perfect way to start OSL techniques and I think they turned out pretty decently. These were unfortunately speed painted to make time for a tournament, but I would like to go back now and touch them up a bit.

What do you guys think?

Not bad bro, but the pictures aren't great, so I can't comment much further.
Look like decent tabletop quality.
Maybe some washing or highlighting on the 'flesh'/skin-fabric, to bring out the stitching seams?

>>49330705

Personally, I really don't like the way OSL looks at all, but that is a .very. well executed piece of painting tech.
Similar to what the other guy said, I think the flames themselves could stand to be brighter/lighter to justify how much shade/light is currently cast though - at the moment the balance looks a little off to me.

I still can't get Aeslin looking anywhere near decent so i've given up and i'm trying to work my way through my massive backlog of unpainted stuff.
Almost done on Lelu, just got some work to do the the metals, a hand I completely didn't forget to paint when I was doing the rest of the skin and finally his hair.
I'm not sure what colour would work for it, black might blend in too much with his outfit.
>>
>>49332287
I like the black hair with the outfit. Like he made an effort to coordinate.

Might try some blood on the hand since it still needs painting.
>>
So got my Viks Avatar in the mail. Now I don't have to buy the donkey. Just gotta wait for the cards to show up on wargame vault.

I used green stuff as mud and bits of sticks as logs. I used bits if sprue as planking/docks. But I'm running gremlins or might not fit your crew.

I remember seeing an easy cobblestone tutorial using greenstuff somewhere.

I used to not be big in basing. But it makes a huge difference.

Kill vik of blood first. Vik of ashes normally will not commit unless she has to or your opponent is new. If you commit forces to deal with blood their overall effectiveness will be lessened.

Stay near a board edge and kill whatever gets in your way. Reform if possible, but you can also easily score Outflank by splitting up and bringing in Dust on the opposite board edge.

Anybody get in a Divergent Paths game yet?

I did.

>Forgot my 10T at home, guess I'm an Arcanist today
>One of my newer players asks for a game, been getting better every game so this may be the one
>Declares Guild, wants to go for the child
>Take Sandeep and a bunch of academics, newly built sanctioned spellcaster, valedictorian, librarian, and a slate ridge mauler just because I built it that night
>Whole crew of disciplined, studious mages and also a bear
>Guild has full witch hunter crew of Sonnia and the asylum crew
>Sonnia's witchlings went rogue to chase down an inquisitive child, she has to rein them in
>We both run in
>Sonnia puts up a wall in my way
>Sandeep teleports to a nearby catwalk, blasts Francisco and drops Banasuva on his head, who promptly whiffs
>Banasuva goes first and crushes Francisco
>Grimwell scoots up and escorts the child away
>Bear charges the neutral witchlings and hurts one
>Sammael rapid fires into the combat, killing one stalker, which blows up the other and hits Boris for a good chunk
>Kudra jumps in next to Sonnia to annoy her
>Team Sonnia can't touch or move Kudra
>Team Sandeep races after the kid
>Valedictorian charges witchlings, hurts one
>Sandeep drops a wild gamin, finishes a Witchling and hits Grimwell
>Sammael shoots at the other Witchling, kills it, blows up and sets fire to the Valedictorian and drops her to 2
>She runs away
>Heartsbane randomly gets severe on a neg flip to kill Kudra
>Banasuva teleports next to Sonnia, hits her a bunch
>Grimwell orders Sonnia away, runs away
>Sonnia nukes the wind gamin and flees behind walls
>Librarian enjoys a free push from the dead wind gamin, catches Grimwell and blows him away
>Orderlies run
>Bear catches orderly and eats him to heal up
>Sandeep starts chasing Sonnia
>Valedictorian eats the other orderly
>Heartsbane pushes and gets a free attack off her trigger, RJ damage to one shot the librarian, then bounces off a spellcaster
>Ice Gamin kills Heartsbane with a RJ damage
>>
>>49341264
>Sonnia and Sandeep have epic wizard duel, doing all of 4 damage between the two of them
>Banasuva brings Sam down
>Last turn, after failed wizard duel, Sandeep caves Sonnia's skull in with his mace
>He got lots of VP from witchlings and the kid, beat me out by 2

I was so proud of my newbie focusing on VP while I was killing stuff. Really like how Sandeep and crew play.

Kirai now has to summon Ikyrio in a place where she can see it.
You can no longer chain activate the same model off of itself.
You can no longer obey paralyzed models to take actions.

>>49343873
96) Does Kirai need to summon Ikiryo within her LoS when summoning it with the Malevolence Ability?
Yes. Actions and Abilities which summon require LoS (this can be found in the Errata). (9/14/16)

>>49335620
I think if you blackline the joints and crevasses (between leg segments, fingers, carapace ridges etc.) and detail the face the overall effect will be much greater. Right now it looks like an undifferentiated blob, and there's nothing for the eye to latch on to. Maybe paint the weapon a different color too, something like obsidian could be neat maybe. Really like the concept so far though

I just want to play one crew for like 20 games to learn Malifaux and their interactions and stuff. Is this a bad choice to start with? I already own most of the crew so it'd be kinda shit if it's poorly crafted.
Leveticus
-survivalist
-pariah of iron
Lizzy Lovelace

>>
>>49346909
Look man, he's the only one I thought was cool. I've read the guides and hateful darkblacks rundown of rebirth and positioning. Aside from that, is the crew bad or have any glaring weaknesses?
Cause I mean, just saying Leveticus is tough to learn in response to a query regarding crew capability isn't very helpful or relevant.
>>
>>49343213
Fuck, I already love the changes Aaron is making. This is going to be a renaissance for Malifaux.

>>49346953

>>
>>49346795
Survivalist is largely pointless of Leve since he's going to be dying and respawning anyway.

You may also want some more anchors. A&D, Alyce, Lazarus, etc are all solid picks.

It's not an awful crew, just seems like a bit of a mishmash.
>>
>>49341297
looking forward to a Divergent Paths game this Sunday. Shop is heavily skewed towards neverborn and outcasts, so I might borrow a friends guild models just to break up the monotomy (play outcasts myself).
>>
>>49348462
>>49347956
I understand he's going to die, it was to make it take at least 2 actions, which would create a potential 4 Unmade retaliation damage, to hopefully create some trepidation in deciding to pursue that course.

I have 4 and only 1 is melee. Should I be aiming for 5+ or more big guy anchors?

Maybe if I describe my intents it will assist with feedback:
Brutal and Watcher are just there to support Leveticus and scheme. One to increase his survivability, potentially support crew with draws from killing opposing scheme runners, and to increase his threat range.
Lovelace was intended for movement disruption, facilitating the mercenaries flips, and improving Leveticus' movement.
Performer was for backup schemeing, cointer schemeing, and movement disruption. Also very light poison support with Lovelace.
Trapper to backup scheme and force cover or pick off the wounded.
Johana for melee beatstick and condition removal.
Librarian for the utility, anywhere she is damage or heals will most likely be useful.

Basically, I want to :
-make it difficult for my opponent to scheme/score by wasting their actions through influencing positioning and movement
-have Leveticus port around on Mindless Zombies killing exposed models to increase my potential schemers (aboms) and resources (cards, action disparity)
-win through attrition
>>
>>49349184
>Levi
>Killing-machine

He used to be, but the card you got with Levi is out of date after a nerf he got sometime last year. You may want to check it out to make sure it doesn't change your game plan.

Some people say he's pure trash now, some says he's still a vengeful god, but I'm not good enough to make that judgement.
>>
Okay first game done.
Got my ass handed to me pretty solidly. Learned alot so that's always an upside, and managed to squeak into a slowgrow league that just started up this week.
I had Brewmaster and company against his Indiana Jones guys.
I didn't play the schemes and focussed on just fighting his guys (really wanted to learn interactions between abilities and what my dudes actually do).
Now with the Brewmaster do I want to keep my guys grouped up and inside his bubble in a blob so I can make use of all the poison triggers? Is it okay to just have a dude skirting around the outside of the board or will he just get picked off by ranged opponents?
>>
>>49335620

>>49341264
>>49341297
Cool report, cheers Sandeep Desu.
>>
>>49349257
Yup, I have erratad card.
I actually want to focus down the opposing schemers with Leveticus as opposed to the enforcers and above. If I attack their action count, potentially raise mine, and try to hinder the movement of their muscle, this is the crew I've chosen. Please judge it based on that goal or critique the goal itself. Also, maybe I didn't make it clear, though I did say Lev was going to be killing opposing scheme runners.
>>
I'm glad that Paralyze change was made.
It's just dumb the old way, I've always thought that.

Also makes my Performers so much better.
>>
>49349367
Justin seemed to go with the rules as written while Aaron doesn't mind rewriting tonaccount for unforseen circumstances to create a more, cohesive and common sense game. I'm liking this new change. The aversion to revision was not good for longevity.
>>
>>49349421
>The aversion to revision was not good for longevity.

I agree, I feel a lot of the issues stemming from Privateer Press games is their refusal to say "oops."

When Wyrd owns up to their mistakes and revises rules for good reason, the end up creating a better game state. My only concern is they start doing it a little TOO carelessly and end up becoming reactionary.
>>
>>49349421
Agreed. All the changes make sense.

Speaking of the changes, how did the summoning thing affect Nico? He targets a corpse maker, if the market is a mindless zombie, does that mean he can't sumon on the far side of the zombie since it's out of Los?
>>
>>49349316
>Now with the Brewmaster do I want to keep my guys grouped up and inside his bubble in a blob so I can make use of all the poison triggers?
Yes.
>Is it okay to just have a dude skirting around the outside of the board?
Yes.
>or will he just get picked off by ranged opponents?
Yes.

Keep the bubble, but don't worry about breaking it up a bit to do the job that needs doing.
With Brew, try to tarpit as much of his crew as you can conveniently catch, then use what is now effectively your superior activation and board control resources to get y our objectives scored.

>>49349705
Oooh, good point.
But I'd imagine that you're still going to get most of the utility out of that, Mindless Zombies are only 30mm, right?
Or does the wording state that it's treated as a Corpse Marker (which are Ht0)?
>>
>>49349662
I don't think that would become a problem unless the seemingly positive response gets to Aaron's head. It's a new position for him and I assume he's going to be a bit reserved as these changes seem to be things he's thought and and wanted to make for a while.
In his post he says the erratas would only be released twice a year. I'm hoping that was intentional to prevent overzealousneas and hopefully improve ongoing balance tests. The implied openness and willingness to monitor the balance post release is something I love hearing a company commit to.

Question regarding tara, do you guys think that Karina is required in a good tara list, or do you think it's about the same either way?

Campaign Anon here. We've decided to do Divergent Paths games - man and woman week 1, child and random flip week 2. I wound up winning a game with a differential of 10 today. I felt sort of bad for it, but it sure did happen.

I've got 13 scrip, a 4 flipped for a Reward Flip (The store was closing, we did flips and quickly left), and the following Arsenal. Should I bank it for a Master, or hold off?

Toshiro the Daimyo: 9
- Cursed (lose all printed suits)
Katanaka Sniper: 7
- Crippling Pain (-1 WK)
- Thick Hide (Regen +1)
Dawn Serpent: 10
Shadow Effigy: 4
- Missing Fingers
The Lone Swordsman: 8
Ten Thunders Brother: 5
- Shaken (- to DF and WP duels for 1 game)
Obsidian Oni: 6
- Unfocused
Equipment/Upgrades: Smoke Grenades (1), Command the Graves (1), Metal Plate (1)

I have a 4 banked for a barter flip and a Crow for a Reward flip banked as well, pic related. My only gimmick is that I refuse to take a model thematic to a Master, other than Toshiro, and later, my actual Master. Any suggestions?

Of note, my three opponents are Captain Dashel's Focus Factory (Guild Minions), Thematic Ortegas (Francisco and the Family, who's doing rather poorly), and an Outcasts player that started with Viktoria and is slowly learning the wonder that is Nothing Beast and Company.

Who is the 12 of masks supposed to be? I thought that because of the coat it was supposed to be M1E Sonnia, but I realized that doesn't make sense as she is supposed to be an NB master.
>>
>>49353224
pretty sure its supposed to be pandora.

It says it's treated as a corpse marker, but I don't know if it stops being a model. Might have to ask for the next FAQ.

Play Leviticus in outcasts, then you can play with any (non-gremlin) robut you want.

>>
>>49357422
I'll post some close ups when I get out of class, will be much later though.
>>
>>49358997
His crew doesn't appear to work at first , but his movement combined with giving the opposition bad options tends to make him very good imo.
>>
>>49357553
We just finished week 2 of 6. We'll get Masters at week 4.
>>
>>49358997
Jack is secretly one of the strongest masters in the game. He has a deep hiring pool from tormented models, he can make himself and his crew crazy mobile, he can shut down your opponent between curses, discards, and horror duels, and he can do good damage ripping curses off.

>>49359209
If you're getting scrip consistently, you can get away with not saving much each week. Get another Bounty for sweet, sweet avatar mode.
>>
>>49359739
Alright, now for the other question: what Master would work best with what I've got?
>>
Best faction to take crossroads 7 in?
>>
>>49359785
Shenlong is probably the default pick. He's an enabler and makes your dudes better. McCabe is also a good option for the same reasons. Misaki is good as a standalone guided missile so your self sufficient crew won't miss anything when she goes solo.

Shadow Emissary might be a good option for your next hire, too. Just another versatile model.

>>49359883
Arcanists or Outcasts for Imbued Energies/Oathkeeper, Neverborn for pukeworm
>>
>>49359966
McCabe, in a game where you get one upgrade a week?
>>
>>49360136
You can only buy 1 upgrade on the first week, after that you can buy as many as you want. The emissary upgrade gives you freebie McCabe upgrade every game as well.

Also, fun fact, injuries and skills count as upgrades, so Promises and Wastrels are nice.
>>
>>49360715
I'm away from my books, but I thought you could only buy one upgrade a week in general...

Also, re: the Emissary, I was thinking about it, but I don't own any Avatars. I was going to use the Emissary as whatever Avatar I got.

And yeah, injuries count. It makes the Obsidian Oni really fucking worth it. Unfortunately, we agreed on thematic lists, and Wastrels weren't in my theme.

>>
>>49361219
Note that upgrades cannot be transferred or removed. I had some weird plans with Hans before I realized.
>>
>>49361327
Correct, injuries and skills can't be shunted around. Wastrels are great in a campaign because they're cheap and one they get an injury/skill, they can discard a card to add a suit to any duel and since they have an upgrade they can draw afterward. Cheap card cycling, gotta love it.

Greentext deductions with no reasoning to support the proposition or consideration for decisions (I outlined why I chose survivalist) are not relevant or helpful for a budding player.

> Toshiro with Lead from the Front
> Emissary with neutral Upgrade
> Mei Feng with the Proletarian
> Literally just Minions after that

Sure, you can't use a lot of the fun campaign upgrades, but you can also throw four positive flips on every minion inside your auras.
>>
>>49364694
I mostly threw it in for more activations and another anchor. I'm brand new to Levi and fairly new to Malifaux as a whole
>>
>>49364332

You're going about your crew choices in a very weird way for Levi that doesn't really play to his strengths as a master.

People are calling you out on your choice of Survivalist because Levi's whole gimmick is being fragile and dying. You're also putting way too much stock into the Unmade triggers as a deterrent. If they see what you're doing in any sort of scheme pool that will give them VP from killing Levi, they'll do it.

The rest of your crew is a weird mishmash of assorted models that don't really benefit Levi either. You're weirdly fixated on the idea of having scheme runners and backup scheme runners, which has left you with very weak anchors. You're trying to win on attrition with a crew that can be easily dismantled with any sort of killy enemy model and also dedicating several models to turn Levi into a missile against mostly flimsy 4 and 5 ss models. You're wasting master AP to kill something liek a Necropunk while your opponent's master is going to either blast the fuck out of your or support their models in a way that you are not doing for yours.

You said you haven't bought most of the models yet, so hopefully it's not too late to change these choices. Let us know what you got right now and we can probably work out something.
>>
>>49353221
>- Cursed (lose all printed suits)
Shiiiiit, that's rough.
That would flat shut down a lot of crews on the worng model.
I need to re-read the injury tables.

>>49364707
>four positive flips on every minion inside your auras.
Puke.
I don't know why it still surprises me when I see these disgusting combos.
>>
>>49364903
>Shiiiiit, that's rough.
Toshiro's only printed suit is on a melee attack, and the ability isn't that good anyway.
> disgusting combos
Literally only for Minions. Everything Enforcer level or higher is SOL. And that means I don't get to use any of the fun upgrades from the campaign.
>>
>>49364674
Yeah, I dunno, unless any of the resser stuff I listed in >>49364652 seems worth swapping something out for, I didn't see a reason to take Pariah
>>
>>49364917
>Cursed
I meant in the general sense, hence "on the wrong model".

And 4+ on a minion is putting you at consistent Severe with a hint of Moderate - even for Minions, that tends to be a respectable output.
>>
>>49364992

Just gotta watch out for the Black Joker, since you'll be turbo flipping through your deck.
>>
>>49364992
>And 4+ on a minion is putting you at consistent Severe with a hint of Moderate
Well, consider that it's only for attack - and their base numbers are pretty low. Cards can only carry you so far.
>>
>>49364637
Looks solid. Hunting Party and Entourage on Leve?
>>
>>49364917
You can still get a skill on each minion and put the fun equipment on your other models.
>>
So I added a gloss coat, and tried to paint some glow on it.
I started to do some black lining but I definitely do not want to do it with these models.
Anyway I'm kind of irritated because the people who were telling me to make them look like they are glowing are now telling me to make them look more gem-like, which isn't what I'm going for. What do you guys think?
>>
>>49365029

>>49365245
Kinda makes me think of gum drop buttons.
>>
>>49365098

>>
How're people finding the divergent path scenarios?
I played breakout tonight, it seems pretty one sided, whoever gets to the guy first has a massive lead and a much easier job of it.
>>
>>49365269
Do you recommend I do something different?
>>
>>49365245
Looking really nice! Some glazing now would be good just to make the specks merge in with the rest of the model, I'd go light or midnight blue starting at where the brighter areas on the legs end. Can you paint transparency of the face mask? That would make it stand out some.
>>
>>49365326
I think some people are missing the point that I want the White specs to stay there as I'm trying to do a starry look.

>Can you paint transparency of the face mask?
I have no idea what you are trying to ask me here.
>>
>>49353221
So, current plan:
> 4 scrip: Off-Hand Fighting on The Lone Swordsman
He won't get the aura buffs, and he'll be even more of a badass
> Lead from the Front
The proletariat shall rise
> 5 scrip: Shadow Emissary
Note all the injuries my shit has. The Obsidian Oni can heal them, and the Shadow Emmisary can push them around
> 4 Scrip: Bounty
Still not sure what to go with, here. I'm thinking Strange Times because getting 1 scrip is relatively easy, Take their Land becaue I'm running a horde list, or Hunt them Down for balls-out hunting.
>>
>>49364859
Thanks for the informative post.

Tl;dr: Is the crew concept itself unworkable or can it be salvaged?

That probably has to do with my inexperience.
Two people said survivalist was bad and another said my anchors were weak, but but none said why. Also, I don't think Unmade would be a constant deterrent, but only in situation where its more likely the attacker would die than Leveticus. I assume positioning and commitment mist be considered.
I felt the back up schemers were capable fighters, but I wanted them because I assumed my models would die and the goal was to win on points so versatile fighters seemed useful.
If the movement disruptor are insufficient, I'll have to find a better way to occupy opposing beatsticks.
By dedicating several models I assume you mean Watcher, Brutal Effigy, and Lovelace. The first two are still very capable schemers and can be used to opportunistically buff Leveticus. Lovelace potentially adding activations and wasting opposing activations while commanding space, and consistent damage seemed like a worthwhile investment of her own. However, your point still stands regarding returns on actions.
I've actually bought most of the models, so I guess I'm sol there.
>>
Oh, that was the other thing. For the sake of campaigns, what do the Divergent Paths scenarios count as? Are they Events and Strategies? Just Strategies? Strategies and Schemes? What other shit should be happening alongside them?
>>
>>49365548
secondary objectives, other than dictating a secondary objective, and setup you flip for schemes and strats like normal.
>>
>>49365594
Where is that listed? I saw that it says to flip for schemes in the setup section of the mission.
>>
>>49365245
Anon I can see what you are going for but it just looks kinda off. Right now he just looks black with white specks all over him and a bit of air brushing. Look at some pictures of the night sky. Not all the stars are white, some are yellowish, some are red stars. Maybe even paint a shooting star. It just looks like a big blob and I can't make out any of the details of the model. Sorry for being harsh, it's a cool idea!
>>49348068
Over in the /wip/ thread has been painting up some dark eldar with the same sorta outer space theme and they look banging.
>>
>>49365291
I couldn't say to be honest. I've never really seen a paint job quite like it. It's hard to say what would look good.
>>
>>49365477

I think at the very least giving yourself one big and powerful anchor would be a good start. Lazarus or A&D could do. Lazarus in particular is a merc if you want to keep playing up that theme.

You could also capitalize on the Pariah of Iron and pick up Ramos's box for anchors. Howard is a mobile killing machine while Joss is decently beefy, very killy, and can drop scrap markers you can summon Abominations off of. Plus between that box and your mercs you could run 50ss of Arcanists if you feel like a change.

For what the cut I'd try to play it by ear based on the schemes and strategies, but I'd start with the Performer and Watcher for the chopping block. I'd also lose Survivalist to free up some points.
>>
>>49364707
On this note, it seems like I should hire a shitload of Ten Thunders Brothers. 5 stones for a tank that also has a Severe of 5 seems worth it?

So I played two Divergent Path games.

I lost the Man to Guild McCabe because I woefully underestimated the Executioner delivery system and overestimated Ash's chances to survive the Brutal Effigy. I beat Perdita to win the Trickster though, because I ran in and sucked up points off the lady while Viks + Furious from Freikorps Librarian Finished off Perdita. Ended up 9 to 0 before the Store kicked us out for staying past closing so I was given the win..

The Dawn Serpent and the Guild Pathfinder give you some nice blast too. Though remember that only Lead from the Front gives you a + to damage, the rest only gives +'s to attack. And if it's just about damage the Rail Workers have a 2/4/5 track and can discard a card to gain + to attack and damage flips for the turn, which with all those +'s shouldn't be too hard on your hand.

Ok /TG/ I need some help. In a week I"ll be continuing my Through the Breach game. The players were introduced as coming together after the city of Ridley burns during a massive city destroying riot. Their businesses and homes were wrecked.

>Forgotten is never noticed after nearly getting killed by a train. Finally had friends and then the city blows up. Follows the party because they notice him. Wants to learn what is going on
>A literal race traitor who wants to abandon her humanity to join Titania's court. Keeping this a secret from the party.
>A wizard's apprentice who convinced the party to go BACK into the city to recover goods and grimoire from her mentor's back room magic shop.

So the session ended with Titania's spy nearly getting gutted by a wendigo as the party reentered the magic shop and stole some grimoires from Magic Woman's now dead mentor. As they discuss what to do, someone starts smashing down the door trying to get in.

The party can either try to encounter what's coming in or flee through a hole into the sewers that the lone wendigo came through.

So my question is, what could be coming through the door that the party might choose a diplomatic route while feeling like it's a bad idea. Since the apprentice is clearly an arcanist, I'm leaning against them trying to break in and Zombies would obviously push the sewers option...plus the city is still on fire.

Thoughts?

Well, what would be a good boxes to get along her? Planning to make myself a playable crew for b-day.
>>
>>49365245
I think it looks a .lot. better with the details.
As it stands thoug, I agree with the other guy from earlier that said it just lacks definition, looks a bit blobby simply because black is a contour-hiding colour.

I still think if you paint the weapon, or just the butt-spikes and head of it, plain black with as glossy a varnish as you can get it will look less odd.

I get what you're trying to do, and it's very well executed, but in photos it looks like it's not quite working. Maybe in person it looks right.

>>49365283
Is Breakout worse than Extraction?
Longer placement range when you control it or something?
Either way, I don't see that as a huge problem, necessarily - these aren't hardcore competitive scenarios, and there are still other places to score points.

tl,dr: Please help me to find ideas on Canine Remains color scheme.

I'm not very good at painting, so my plan always goes like "base-wash-drybrush" with 3-4 colors per miniature and that's all. Yet I like to use non-standard color schemes (for example, I painting my Cerberus like "orange\white cat"). Recently I brought Marcus crew (with some additional models) and started painting. But there is a problem - I really can't find\decide on any good looking paint scheme for Canine Remains. Usual schemes (like in my pic) looks dull, unless painter had very good skills, which I do not have.
>>
>>49369966
Try having it be some no name mimic, make it obvious from your description that there is something inhuman about the thing standing in the doorway. It should be a beverborn strong enough to see the Strings of Fate, but not I am literally a Cthulhoidian God tier. It would offer them the opprtunity to leave at the cost of a favor named at a later date, then have it seal the deal with blood
>>
How do you tend to get Levi to a good position to murder someone and still have AP for murder? Is it just waif risk/reward?
>>
>>49370481
>>49367953

So the woman's scenario is a scrum and very luck based. My plan was to break up the Ortega synergies and go for a quick kill on Francisco, but luck of placement ended up with Francisco caught up in a big ol cluster with Perdita, Grandma, and a Pistolero. Luckily, Francisco was beaten on by Johan enough that Vanessa took him down with a focus chop. Getting someone to the middle before turn one to interact was key, since the I had enough firepower that anyone who came in the middle would die.

The man's scenario though was fun too. The Prison wagon is a mobile death engine that smacked my malifaux child to death and it served to threaten the brutal effigy. But it was a fun game. I ended the game 8 to 5 his way, because his austringer could kill blood who sat on the Man all game. Mostly, I had a ton of clockwork traps to consume for heal flips.
>>
>>49369966
If go with a resser. Someone who was in hiding but I'd capitalizing on the riot to build up a army of the undead.

He's got the same idea as the players and is there on a shopping spree.

All the horror of zombies, but with a human face. Also has a plausible reason to be banging on the door of a magic shop.

I like the Ressur idea more than the mid-range Neverborn, in principle, but how do you make him overwhelmingly powerful enough that they don't try the boring fight-our-way-out while still having a reason not to just crush them there and then?
>>
>>49375915
Nothing in particular, just a bunch of interactions I want to try.

>Terracotta can turn surprisingly loyal into secret assets turn 1 and gives me more stones to work with from absorbing devil's deal
>Rifleman can get extra ram from Dashel, Austringer, Guild Guard nearby
>Doppel and changeling can copy austringer or Thrall
>Single Guild Guard sucks until Dashel summons friends and they suddenly get better
>Thrall is a big minion that Lucius can boss around

>Trickster's scenario very luck based.
As expected, but I guess I hadn't really thought about the full implications of Blind Deployment.
As a solely Colette player, shit's gonna hurt.
I'm thinking of maxing out on Doves to increase the odds of having places to Disappearing Act to, because Blind really encourages taking a load of independent face-raper models, of which I have Cassandra and... my proxied Joss.

And the random effect of the push/pull/VP flips looks like more chaos.

Good clean fun.
>>
>>49375915
I'd go for a more gentlemanly resser more Nico then Seamus, so they've got a rain to believe he might keep his word.

To make him threatening, you just need to have enough undead begins him that the party knows they won't make it out.

As far as reasons why he doesn't crush them. He's worried they might destroy the object he came looking for. Break the crystal ball/burn the book/spill the elixer etc, or that it might happen by accident if he tries a frontal assault.

If he knocks Ave suffices the people inside aren't the shopkeeper, he might even assume they're after the same thing he is.

If you really want to make it interesting. Have the grimoire the can for be his goal.

Maybe it's got a map in the back, or notes on half an important alchemical formula Or his now dead wife pawned it, and he wants it back for sentimental reasons.

Swipe to text is a bitch.

It could be fun and extra villainous.
>The group is beaten and defeated
> The resurrectionist's decaying minions hold the party down, pressing thier faces to the cold floor.
> The villian casually scoops the grimoire from the ground.
>There's a rifling sound as he casually examines it's pages
>They hear a ripping sound as the necromancer tears out a single page and stuffs it into his coat pocket.
>He tosses the book back to the party and leaves

Although it's probably not appropriate, unless you're looking to introduce a BBEG.
>>
>>49379471
That's borderline Evil Villian behaviour too - going to extra effort to leave unnecessary witnesses and evidence.
Might as well be monologuing while he checks the index.

Zombies cover them while other zombies carry off the contents of the stock room, maybe, but not that grandstanding sort of shit.

>>
>>49380736
It's only unnecessary witnesses if you think they can do anything.

If you are a slightly unhinged resser at the head of an undead army, you might be confident that you're unstoppable.

Alternatively, he could have some other undisclosed reason for not killing the party. Like a tight schedule or a code against killing women and children.
>>

So I played the Panicked flight scenario and won it. Parker throwing the winged plague up field to send the boy m yway clenched it. Plus I did a ton of kill stealing on the stalkers including a great turn when Doc Mitchell stole a kill from Ashes and Dust.

Levi shenanigans were fun to fight against and Envy, easily an MVP in parker. Not so sure about the performers except for making Rusty waste a rapid fire from dealing with manipulative. And Doc Wilson is clearly an auto-take. Parker died like three times over but kept getting doc heals.
>>
>>49382540
Doc Mitchell is a dick and I think his Ph.D is forged.

First time playing Levi and 3rd game ever I scored like 4 points, so I think I'm liking him. I'm awful at waif positioning and the Ronin was next to useless. I think I'll take some ressers next time

Ashes and Dust is a fucking monster. New Waifu. Specialist only ever threw weak damage, made me sad. But I'm officially outcasts now

Yeah. But you didn't say "If you want to make the opponent play the game without cards, AND still have cards in hand."

Also, gremlins suffer from lack of hand a lot less then any other crew. With multiple models that can hand out suits, bayuo two card, and more models/actions then you had cards to spend on anyways, little or no hand only hurts when you run into discard or die effects.

>>
>>49389380
Ah.

Speaking of Levi, does anybody run him with rats?
It seems like most Levi crews could benefit from extra activations. And both Rat Catchers and Rat Kings could work as anchors.
>>
>>49389526
I can't imagine using Rat Kings much with Levi, but Rat Catchers have Don't Mind Me so if you aren't taking Hodgepodge with the generic conflux (who is pretty good support for an abom focused list) they could be pretty good i guess.

Levi already has two waifs for extra activations and potentially abomination summons if used with thematic crew/upgrades.
>>
>>49389526
they used to use the rat engine all the time with him but due to recent nerfs it's not often you will probably see that anymore.
>>
>>49389707

>>
>>49391851
Yes, in pretty much all outcast lists you had the rat engine because if you bring 2 rats and a obedient wretch, you can effectively get like 6 or 7 activations, plus the fact that you can pretty much get killjoy after everything has gone if you take nix in the list with infections melodies.

Like the problem is that with stuff like Levi, Viks, and Von schill to a lesser extent you saw very similar lists. And there was lots of complaints about the rat engine, like it took two tournaments and then wyrd was like "yeah that's a problem."
>>
>>49392364
Storytime?

>>49392387
Yeah. I guess I could see that. 6pts of rats gets you 3 activations a turn, with potentially 6+ one turn.
>>
>>49392632
Sadly the story boils down to "I am really quite bad at Malifaux", with a side-arc of "why are none of my cards ever higher than a nine", climaxing in a thrilling "jesus christ how many fucking Necropunks".

>Storytiem.
Not story storytiem, just what-happened storytiem. I still find Malifaux pretty mentally exhausting.

The Wagon moves from one edge to the other, roughly along the centreline.

I take the Colette and her Showgirls plus Joss, Freikorps Trapper and Arcane Effigy.
Colette has the dump cards to get stones, summon doves and the Saber Trick trigger upgrades.
Cassandra has Practiced Production and S&M.

He takes Nicodem, Vulture, two Flesh Constructs, two Nurses, two (three?) Punk Zombies and two Rotten Belles.

I deploy:
Colette, two Performers, Joss and ArcEff at [1].
Cassandra and one Mannequin at [2].
Freikorps Trapper deploys next to the Wagon.

He deploys:
Two Belles, one Nurse, Vulture at [3].
Nicodem and a huge pile of Flesh Constructs and Punk Zombies, plus one Nurse, at 4.

First couple fo turns, I use the Trapper to delete the Nurse at [4], Cassandra drags the Mannequin up to [A].
His [4] blob rolls up to [B].
The [1] blob moves up to [C].
Then it all goes wrong.

His Vulture blocks Cassandra in at [A] long enough to get approximately two hundred Punk Zombies Fast'd or Summoned over there, and goes down over the next two turns under a pile of dead flesh, swiftly followed by the Mannequin.
I waste a couple of Prompts using Performers to lure (and Expunge, bite that one fucko) Flesh Constructs out of Cassandra's melee in a failed attempt to create some room to get out of the bottleneck.
This leaves Joss still durdling around at [C] most of the game instead of chopping shit up at [B], being a big waste of stones. He eventually makes it to the no-man's land between [C] and [3], but achieves little and eventually dies to Flesh Constructs, Nurse (Paralyses) and Punk (Flurries).
I send the Arcane Effigy out to [D] to at least score something out of Line in the Sand, while everything else is slowly but surely chewed up by the rolling tide of dead shit and he plays ping-pong with the Strat Marker.
>>
>>49393001
In my defence, I'd just like to say that this is my fourth game of Malifaux, and I still barely have the faintest idea how to make Colette work.

>>49392710
Yup, Nico.

>>49392764
Nope, but can't first-turn interact, and I was trying to kill the Nurses as quickly as possible.
I had a very traumatic game against McMourning last week.
I am very scared of Nurses.

Now that you point that out, I can't believe I was stupid enough not to have done that though...
Fuck.
>>
>>49393047
>Nope, but can't first-turn interact
Who gives a shit? Remember, you win by points, nothing else. Turn 2 interact for free points, shove the VIP away from his lines, and play keep-away as best you can. Don't try to engage.

When was the last time the right thing against a zombie horde was "take them head on"?
>>
>>49393047
Also, for a bit of further whining, I legit pulled three hands in a row with nothing higher than a nine, and my final turn hand was two eights and then down from there.
Two twelves and a thirteen in my first turn hand, where nothing happens, and then steadily degrading garbage from then onwards.

I have enough trouble keeping up without being out-activated hardcore, which is why I didn't have enough spare for re-draws.

But everything in this game came down to me bottlenecking myself unnecessarily, then indecisively dicking around with Colette and Joss instead of firing him in to disrupt the Nico-ball.

I think the score came out 10-1, which I would be fine with if I had played even merely poorly, but I made some utterly retarded unforced errors.
>>
>>49393079
I think if I had put the Trapper at a point to interact on Turn 2, he would have been easily Lured by the Companion-ing Belles as well.
I think that was a factor in putting him a building between them.
>>
>>49393117
>he would have been easily Lured by the Companion-ing Belles
>>49393094
> Two twelves and a thirteen in my first turn hand, where nothing happens

Sure, bad luck could've hit you and your opening hand could've been shit, but at the same time if it wasn't you had the game in the bag. It creates something he /has to/ respond to immediately, and he may not be able to because of how luck works - and even if he can, you can now easily predict his actions turn one and plan for them.
>>
>>49393133
True, I play a very reactive game, something I need to work on.

That and recognising the key parts of a game and having some semblance of a plan in place to make things happen, so I don't waste AP fumbling around due to indecisiveness.

Cheers Malibro.
>>
>>49393319
Yeah. Stop saying "But he could do [This]!" and start going "Okay, when he does [this], what's my answer?" and go from there. You have to react to a certain degree, but controlling what you're reacting to - or at least accurately predicting it - is key.

>>49396368

>>
>>49396368
the main problem is Wyrds IP. if you make a deck and feature original artwork of the characters for personal use it's fine, even if you sell them as an "unrelated product" it's fine. Where it gets muddy is outright using the term Fate deck, or saying it's malifaux related without approval.
>>
>>49396607
>>49397041
Thing is, to me if there are an increasing amount of third parties producing not-fate decks that should show there's an interest in new decks to wyrd. At worst they could be licensing out the rights to artwork and the production of fate decks by name for easy money.

>>49396889
That's good to hear, I did see the "classic" deck that's coming out soon, which I think is defeating the point a little, but it's better than nothing.

Firestarter alt hovers around 15-25 depending on the day, you might be better served trying to pawn it off to someone in your local meta.
Johanah regularly goes for 30-50 because her Online store sale price is 30.
Hanging trees you regularly see at 75-120 new on Sprite.
Dr.Dufrense normally retails for 50-80 because gencon was the only time they have "sold it" not as a special promotion.
Miss pack ranges anywhere from 25-75 bucks depending on the day.
Metal nightmare teddy retails for anything between 40-120 depending on the day and how bloodthirsty eBay happens to be.
Miss ery (plastic nightmare teddy) usually hits about 30
Miss fire has been dropping down to 10-15 lately because a bunch of henchmen got them as prize support from wyrd.
Miss demeanor is ugly as sin and usually doesn't retail over 25
Dark carnival is usually around 100
Wild ones hovers at 125
Nightmare Tara crew is usually around 75-90
Vintage models range between 25-35 (meaning guilders themselves are worth about 5-7)
That's all I got for now.

Oh man, hadn't thought of painting up models for the scenario characters. I have enough reaper shit laying about that I need to get on that, at least for the Trickster who realy got my attention with her Arcanist endgame for week 1.

You're welcome lol.

I'd be worried about painting her. If ressers win she's a zombie. And needs a new paint job.

>>Resurrectionists: The woman is shot by the Guild Guard protecting the station, causing everything to go dark. She awakens in the morgue, gasping with surprise as she sits up and startles the coroner, very much alive despite having had no vital signs a moment earlier. Neither he nor the woman seem to know quite what happened to her, and as they work together to find the answers they both want, she disguises herself as his new assistant.

Naw, seems like she comes fully back to life some how rather than be zombified

Does the Guild know about their less-reputable activities and just keep it on the down-low?
Or is there a disconnect between the game and the fluff, and they never actually allow their double-lives to mix?

Pic related?
That is one of the cooler Avatars I've seen yeah.
Nicodem is just one stylish motherfucker all over though.

That sounds pretty good.
Upright or horizontal box though?
Upright will either look much cooler, or slightly goofy. Hard to call without seeing it.

Those Jorugumo look pretty pimping all together.
I've previously been one of the naysayers, but they look good as a set.

>>49403076
I've been using the most appropriate spare mini for the markers - it really adds to the look of the table to have a man/woman/child to chase around between the scenery.

Of course they know.
What are you going to do, publicly slander Lucius? Enjoy your CIA black site.
It's the Red Line of Silence.

Me again.

Played the Trickster encounter, Chaos Unleashed, this time.

Made a much better show of it, won 10-2.

Same Colette crew as last time (boxed set + Joss and Arcane Effigy), but instead of the Freikorps Trapper I took the extra Mannequin and three Stones.

My opponent too a thematic Lillith crew, with Barbaros, young Nephilim, two Tots and Teddy, plus Tuco.

Blind deployment took the deployment and opening manoeuvres out of my hands, which is where I usually manage to fuck myself, so I credit a large part of the success to that.
I played far, far better than yesterday though.

Blind put Lillith between Joss and Cassandra, with Colette just around the corner (but with LoS to J&C) all a little South-West of the centre. Teddy was Centre-South, but he took a couple of turns to get to the scrum.
I had a Performer and Mannequin North-West, a Performer and Effigy South-West, and the last Mannequin Centre-East.
He had the Tots in the East corners, Barbaros in the North-West, Tuco Centre-North and the Young Neph Centre-East next to the Mannequin.

The Trickster model started on the centre point - (1) Interact to flip a card, with Rams/Crows = 1VP, Tomes you push her 4", Masks opponent pushes her 4".
The Schemes we both chose were Power Ritual and Faction-Specific.
I can't remember the full range, there was confusion after flipping a Joker and then re-flipping and finding all of the Schemes referred to Deployment Zones in a Blind (no DZ) encounter.

Predictably, Joss, Lillith, Cassandra and Teddy charged, pushed and chopped each other until eventually Lillith went down.
Joss mostly achieved that by getting approximately eleven thousand prompted attacks and his H2K-Reactivate - I think he sank the equivalent of five or six full activation's-worth of melee attacks into Lillith, between Colette's Prompts, Cassandra's Understudy-Prompts and his own Reactivate.

After Cassandra and Joss got pushed away to respectively go after Tuco and the Trickster, the Arcane Effigy having herded the Trickster over to the South-East, scoring points as he goes.
Colette stays to tank Teddy.
The Performers get the NW, SW and SE corners Markered, while the Mannequins tied up the Yung Neff and Barbie.

His Tots scored two corners, but Lillith going down cost him his Neverborn Scheme (have most Henchmen/Masters) and I kept him screened from or engaged near the Trickster, blocking scoring there.

Late game, his Tots engage the Effigy by the Trickster and Black Blood the Effigy to death, but Joss Prompt-kills one and the Southern Performer lures off the other to allow Joss to cheat in two Rams for the VPs.

By constantly Slowing the Young Nephilim, the East Mannequin only died end of Turn 4, too late for the Nephilim to get up to much.
Between Manipulative Performer and Mannequin up in the North-West, Barbaros also struggled to get anything done in time, while Cassandra hunted down Tuco and then the North Terror Tot.

I think my biggest positive playing decision was to take the extra stones, which let me do a lot more for putting useful Trigger suits in and bonuses to Defence for the Master melee, and generally allowed me to dictate my own turns, rather than the card or the opponent forcing responses from me - as >>49393133 shouted at me to do.

I think I'm sort of learning to play properly guise.
Malifaux is bretty gud gaem.

McMourning does a bad job of covering it up, Sebastian dues the heavy lifting. It's also vaguely implied that Lucius knows about McMourning, and keeps it quite for his own reasons.
>>49403668
Yeah. Him and Lucius are tied due most stylish masters imo.

>>49403763
I'm going to have to look at the models more.

I'm thinking the horizontal one, with a grave stone behind it as a back rest.
>>
>>49405365
For the reason of soft blackmail. Knowing McMourning's secret means he can give McMourning missions etc.

McMourning's behavior is more or less supported by Lucius and Sonnia. Both are in many ways "ends justifies the means" people and both are implied to know and make use of it. Remember Sonnia hires Outcasts a lot in the fluff, she is perfectly happy with "useful" illegal magic users, her very first story sees her hiring Leveticus.

That's actually a really good idea, yeah - a nice little thematic 'throne' without going full retard and actually having a throne.
