Here's a "fun" 1500pts list concept for Raptors.

>>49308338
The really weird thing is tyrannocytes already specify that only tyranids can ride in them, and it would be simple to put a similar restriction on any future genecult transport that it can only transport genecult stuff. The restriction is almost entirely there to stop you casting invisibility on tyranids, which just seems churlish.

If they got the standard +1T from being cavalry maybe, and maybe reword the hunting Lance to work only in the first round of combat, then they'd maybe be worth their current cost

New player here, I recently started Admech and put together this list for casual play. My main opponents are Tau and Blood Angels, but I'm aiming for an all-comers list at 1850.

Ordo Machinum (1840)

Cult Mechanicus Elimination Maniple:

-Kastelan Maniple -2 bots, conversion field, full phosphor. 325

- 2×3 man kataphron destroyers,w/ grav and phosphor. 165 pts/unit.

Skitarii Dominus Maniple

-Tech-priest Dominus, conversion field, Anzion's Puesdogenetor 125pts.

- Skitarii Vanguard 10 men, 3 plasma caliver, omnispex. 200pts

- Onager Dunecrawler w/ Neutron laser and extra stubber. 120pts.

Skitarii Maniple

- Skitarii Vanguard 10 men, 3 arc rifle, omnispex. 155 pts.

-Skitarii Rangers 5 man, 65 pts.

- Onager Dunecrawler, Neutron laser, extra stubber. 120pts.

Inquisition Detatchment

- Inquisitior Coteaz 100pts.

- 2× Henchmen Warband, 10 acolytes w/bolters, psyker, Jokaero. Dedicated Transport Chimeras, Multilaser/Heavy Flamer. 150pts/unit.

Total 1840pts.

Vanguard squads will hijack the Chimeras and Rangers and henchmen will hold backfield objectives. Coteaz and Dominus will join one unit of KatD's each. 10pts left to switch one Dunecrawler to Icarus Array if needed.

I apologise for the poor formatting, I am new here and don't know the conventions and am on mobile.

situation came up in a game today where Bjorn the fell handed was challenged by a helbrute character In a combat also involving 2 wolf guard and 2 chosen. do any excess wounds made by the outside forces transfer over to either dreads?

and in the main rule book in the character section that I use the weapon skill and toughness of the opponent, does it just swap to an armour pen roll like normal?
>>
>>49308691
Give your chimeras 2x heavy bolter and psybolt shells if you're a Funny Guy.

You might want to put the "fuck fliers" array on at least one dunecrawler.

So I'm a new Eldar player, and I had a game the other day against the local Taufag. He beat me, but I later discovered he was fudging a few rules, such as:
his Crisis suits were T5
his Plasma shit was S7
his Ghostkeel didn't roll for Nova Charges
and some other shit I forget.

Now I know as an Eldar player I have no right to bitch about losing games, but I wouldn't mind taking him down a peg next time, and I was thinking about getting some Warp Spiders. They aren't D-weapon faggotry, they are real short-ranged, their guns ain't fantastic, but the wounding Tau on a 2+ sounds like just the ticket. Are they worth it, or should I go for Wraithguard or Spectres or something instead?

Yep, right now they've basically got the Imperial Guard statline, but with cavalry type, laspistols&close-combat weapon instead of lasguns, hunting lances (basically one-use power lances) and krak grenades. That's 11 points per model. I don't think I'm pushing the boat out when I say that they're stupidly overcosted. It think they'd be 8 points a pop at best but stripping the lances and putting them at 7 points might make them a mobile alternative for non-mechanised lists.
>>
>>49309212
ghost keels dont have nova reactors at all.

Warpspiders are *very* good. They got toned down (read: faq'd back into normalcy) from over the top when the FAQ ruled against multiple flickerjumps per turn (who didn't see that coming)
They are short range but have ridiculous mobility and range, and wound most things in the game on 2s, with rending.

Did you mean Riptide? Ghostkeels don't have Nova Generators, and a Riptide doesn't have to activate it if he doesn't want to. Regardless, if he's not a new Tau player, then he's a twat.

Speaking of Tau, I need a bit of help from other Taufags here. I just picked up a Start Collecting Box, mainly for the new XV8s and Ethereal, but ended up with the new Firewarrior box. I've already got five Strike teams (I like infantry and tanks rather than suits) so should I go for the sixth or should I make up some Breachers? Has anyone had some good experiences with them? Are they actually fun?...

Total Points: 1850

Army Notes: The Lord joins one unit of you-know-whats, while the Sorcerer joins the other unit. The Horrors/Herald roll on Malefic. Thanks to the Draft FAQ, they get both Psychic Focus and Chaos Psychic Focus. I get three chances to roll for the powers I really want (Cursed Earth, Sacrifice, and I'm ok with the Herald getting Dark Flame).

I prefer to take units in doubles, so I can either split the army into two self-contained "cohorts" of:
-2 Units of "Line Infantry" (Melta Chaos Marines)
-1 Unit of "Rifle" Infantry (Chosen)
-1 Unit of Light Cavalry: (Bikers)
-1 Unit of Heavy Cavalry: (HQ + unnameable things)
-1 Unit of "Artillery": (Havocs)
>>
>>49309312
Huh, guess he was being a double faggot then. Also, I think I misinterpreted the Mono rules: I thought wounding on initiative meant if the target has I4, it's a 4+ to wound. Wow, I'm retarded and that puts mono in a whole new light. They still seem awfully similar to shuriken catapults tho. Is the mobility thing the main reason people take Spiders? Cause against Tau it doesn't seem all that important; they WANT to stay as far away as possible, and have sillybuggers range too. Have you played them against Tau before? How'd they do?

>>49309318
Nah, even if he is a faggot I'm not going to descend to his level. I prefer a challange to taking D-cannon Vauls Wrath as an 'I win' button. Any tips against Tau tho?

>>49309334
I've heard this a lot on this board. Dunno what it is about Tau players.
>>
>>49309491
Nope, just looked up the model for a Ghostkeel and that's definitely what he had. Guess I need to double check him on his rules next time. And no, he isn't new, but he doesn't seem like a real 'That Guy' type, just fudges things a bit. Maybe I'm being too easygoing.
>>
>>49309613
They're playing on auto-pilot half the time, so they don't know what to do when it actually comes to the rules.

>getting rid of the lances

wtf thats the best thing about them...

btw those models look great are those victoria miniatures bits for the riders?
>>
>>49309697
no your wrong. Monofilament weapons treat the target's initiative value as their toughness when determining the to-wound roll.
>>
>>49309613
Against castle tau, warp spiders might not be the best choice, but if he has even semi-agressive riptides/ghostkeels, they will be useful (wounding on 2s and all).

And yeah, the retarded-tier mobility is why spiders are so great. a potential 5d6+6" move, plus 2d6" in your opponents turn makes them nearly impossible to pin down, and their guns are super good vs almost all infantry. (except against other eldar)
>>
>>49309491
You pretty much need a devilfish to get them into S6 range, or park them on an obj to use their range to threaten off melee.
Strike teams just feel more satisfying to use.
>>
>>49309697
So what was>>49309312 talking about when he said they wound most things in the game on 2's? Is there some special rule I'm missing here, or maybe an FAQ?
>>
>>49309781
>>49309697
This is why people need to know the rules before discussing them.

Monofilament treats initiative as toughness. Warpsiders wound most things on 2s.
>>
>>49309573
WHFB kits are very expensive now that WHFB is dead

I know hunting lances are awesome and without them you would need to be able to up their bs skill and give them meltas to make them relevant.

Equally why not make rough riders deticated transport?

So that any guard squad could pay for 40pts to give them 10 horses and 2 wounds each.

Now if you wanted to you could give a veteran squad horses instead of a chimera. Think about the awesome that is melta vets with a potential 24 inch charge or a 18 inch melta threat range.

Also any special characters joining the squad at the beginning of the game should be able to buy a horse and be permanently attached to the squad.

>The Last Line, a regiment so named after having killed a squad of renegade Terminators, specialise in engaging the elite units of any and all opponents, including the dreaded and revered Space Marines. Known for their tenacity against seemingly insurmountable odds, they train to strike with absolute precision in melee, impaling the weak points of their foes upon their monomolecular bayonets. Despite a short life expectancy, they are lighthearted in spirit, knowing that each day may be their last in service of the Emperor and their Commissar. They often finish their foes with pithy one-liners, at once demonstrating contempt for the enemy and their relentless optimism.

I feel you hardcore. I fought guard recently as KDK and boy was it bad. Actually packed up and left midgame because it was straight up lies. Aside from nearly every rule lying through his teeth, and despite literally everything he said resulting in me saying "can you read that from the rule book"

Some choice bits:
>Creed can use "Move Move Move 3 times and can run 3d6 each time"
>FRFSRF can be stacked and plays with rapid fire, so 10 guardsmen somehow shoot 80 times
>Leman Russ plasma does not get hot
>Normal guardsmen, not vets, can take camo cloaks
>vehicles get cover saves in close combat
>caught him changing the dice number for hullpoints on his leman russ
>WHOLE ARMY IS JUST SPRAYED ARMY GREEN

As I packed up he was bragging that his remaining 2 guard squads and creeds command would destroy my chaos contemptor, 2 rhinos, bloodthirster, and berserkers in the next 3 turns.

This man was at least 30 and "giving advice" to newer players trying to game in store. Christ this hobby can just drain a guy sometimes.

>>49308973
They haven't been retconned.

I suggest against the malal fandex(es) on 1d4chan since it's a clusterfuck and managed by multiple people with conflicting opinions.

In the Labyrinth story, there are possessed described, particularly chitinous in mutation. This matches depictions of the Malalite daemon art you may have seen. Be careful to not overuse tyranid bits if you intend to do this, as it can look uninspired fast.

Sons of Malice otherwise have little connection to employing daemons in their fighting force.

So, in particular you're left with:
Daemon Prince
Lords
Sorcerers
Chosen
Dreadnoughts
Possessed
CSM
Havocs
Bikers
Rhino-chassis armory
Landraiders

Maybe:
Raptors
Defilers

Dinobots might be out of their reach.
Cultists might also be no-go.

If you want to run malalite daemons with them, be prepared to work for your conversions(to make them not-shit) or to pay a lot for somewhat-shoddy recreations from that one kickstarter. The Lessers(AKA "Hooked Horrors") might be a bit more useful counts-as for daemonettes than bloodletters.

For full Malal worshiping, remember that his sacred number is 11.

Got fucking tabled of course and it left a sour taste in my mouth. One knight is fair game, but four is ridiculous.

My second and last game of the day was against a Deathwing player stoned out of his mind, but was very fun, going all the way to the end of Turn Seven and resulted in a bare victory for my Fists. To celebrate I bought some Raptors and the new Kharn, though in hindsight I'm regretting getting the cool modeled Raptors over the more effective Chaos Bikes.

The Painmob is GW's creation as a part of the Ork Start Collecting set.

Before they removed invuln saves entirely with the last (shit) codex, the whole biker setup was totally doable except for the 4+ FNP--it was 5+.

It costs out the ass to make that all happen--more than Space Marines have to pay for similar stuff. No-one yet has been able to justify why Ork FNP can't be improved when Iron Hands & others' can.
>>
>>49313301
Give 'em 2 meltas and a combi-melta. melta-cide for life.

i would even still do this even with the new Raptor claw formation, but i guess a fist is more appealing on the champ since he can now charge the tank from DS

How many riptides would it take to counter a knight? Could one do the job with support from say a hammerhead or melta XV8s?
>>
Are there any cheaper alternatives for brushes/paint than the GW range?

Not trying to use shitty ones, but I've never used any other variety, and I'm trying to cut some costs on buying a whole new set of paint for my new DE force. If there is, too, is there some kind of easy conversion chart (e.g. *Blank* is the khorne red of this range)?

>No-one yet has been able to justify why Ork FNP can't be improved when Iron Hands & others' can.

Who? AFAIK, only iron hands can improve FNP. I guess technically crons can improve RP, but, while in many ways functionally the same, is still an entirely different special rule.
>>
>>49313484
Riptides aren't a very good counter to Knights.
HBC (Nova) will remove 0.5 HP against AV 12 4++ and 1 without the 4++.

The IA is even worse (0.25/0.5).

You want a Y'vahra to really hurt a Knight, alongside some melta Crisis.

While I guess that's technically correct, I don't know how smart it is to put a randomly determined trait in the same category as chapter tactics and wargear.
Even then, all this points to the Iron hands and nurgle +1 being the exception, not the rule. Most every form of FnP doesn't stack. No reason for orks to be any different.

How about what I said early on one of the branches of comments

Horses are now dedicated transports that give any guardsmen unit who takes them +1W, FNP 6+, and any independent character(commissar and preist) can permanently join the unit and gain a horse.

And lets say this costs about 30 pts per unit/squad.

Then I would buy some rough riders.

Also lets say that after buying the horses the unit/squad could then buy a lance and CCWs for 5pts per model.

If I could have that I may just make an army of them.

Hey look, angel's blade leaks

New QG : death company chaplain (actual cost +35). Same statline, has inferno pistol, jump pack and the Astorath reroll to wound rule.
Grav-cannon and eviscerator as anticipated.
New stuff: a thunder hammer master crafted for 6 meltabombs.

Formations are the following (I do not have them all):

Angel’s blade strike force (meta detachment)
Bonus: reroll warlord trait, red thirst (same as now) and zealot for every unit below half initial size (rounded below).
Core: battle demi company or archangels demi company
Command: Golden host, Leader of the angelic host, chapter ancients
Auxiliary: Archangel orbital intervention, 10th company ambush, death company strike force, Lucifer armoured task force, stormraven squadron, rapid assault force, fire support force

Lost brotherhood (meta detachement)
Bonus: Reroll warlord trait, red thirst, and 6” free move just after you deploy an unit. Does not work with reserves.
Core: death company strike force
Command: Death company command (1-3 astorath, lemarted, DC chaplain)
Aux: orbital intervention, 10th company support, Lucifer armoured task force, stormraven squadron, rapid assault force
>>
>>49314708
Battle demi company (core)
1 captain or chaplain
1 command squad (if the captain is chosen)
3 tactical
1 assault, bike, attack bike or land speeder
1 dev squad
1 dreadnought
1 furioso dreadnought (if the chaplain is chosen)
Bonus: reroll warlord trait if main detachment and red thirst (same as now). YES it is the SAME bonus as in the angel’s blade strike force…WTF GW. No obsec.
 AWFUL

Archangels orbital intervention force (auxiliary)
3 units of the assault or regular terminators
Bonus: all units must be put in reserve and roll together. No reroll.
When the deep strike, regular terminator can fire twice and assault terminator can charge (but count has a disoriented charge).
 NICE !

Archangels demi company (core)
1 termi captain
2 furioso dreadnoughts
5 units of terminators, vanguards or sternguards
Bonus: stubborn, reserve roll turn 1, reroll reserve roll, scatter D6 less and reroll warlord trait if main detachment.
 Quite nice but that is a huge point sink..

10th company ambush force (auxiliary)
3-5 units or either scouts or biker scouts
Scout bikers must buy mines
Bonus: stealth long as you don’t move if you infiltrate.
Precision shots during the first turn.
 Ok I guess

Stormraven squadron (auxiliary)
2-4 stormravens
At the beginning of your turn, once per battle, you can fire all your stormstrike missiles at a target and still fire in the following shooting phase

Lucifer armoured task force (auxiliary)
1 techmarine
3-5 units of baal predator or regular predators
1-3 units of land raiderd, or crusader, redeemer
Bonus: SCOUT, and boosted engines (FAST) free for every vehicle as well as for the land raiders !
 YAY ! 12” scouting land raiders ! woooot

Death company strike force (Aux or core)
1 DC chaplain
3 DC squads
1-3 DC dread
Bonus: unknown

Rapid assault force (aux)
1-3 assault, bike, attack bike, speeders
Bonus: unknown
>>
>>49314708
>>49314730
Fire support force (aux)
1-3 devastator, vindicator, whirlwind

Golden host (Command)
Sanguinor OR Dante
2-5 sanguinary guard
Bonus: unknown
 Looks really nice with dante and only 2 units of sang guard. My guess is they get deep strike at least.

Leaders of the angelic host (command)
1 captain, termi captain, librarian, meph, sang priest, brother corbulo;
0-1 command squad;
0-1 stormraven

Chapter ancients (command)
3-5 dreadnoughts (librarian, regular or furioso)
Bonus: Once during the battle, at the beginning of your turn, you can fire as if you were in the shooting phase or pile in and fight in close combat, instead of moving during your movement phase.
Each dreadnought can perform a different action (fire, fight or move).

Death company relics
- 2+ armor with adamantium will and crusader – 6 meltabombs
- 2-handed power axe, Str of user, master crafted, armorbane – 6 meltabombs
- Counter attack stuff – 6 meltabombs
- Template pistol 4+ poisoned AP6 – 4 meltabombs
- Inferno pistol 12” master crafted – can’t see price
- DC chaplain only crozius: AP3 and reroll FNP rolls of 1 for every model that has the rule in his unit – 5 meltabombs => quite ok

What the fuck are you on about? That is in no way a no true scotsman. Do you even know what that means?
It's just pointing out that the precedent is that FnP doesn't stack, and that only a very few exceptions do stack.
>>
>>49315886
Well the BA do go ask for Grey Knight aid at the end of Traitor's Hate.

Nah, Orks too.
>>
>>49315932
How do you figure
>>
>>49315932
The metrics you apply to make tyranids neutral would also make every other race neutral as well.
>>
>>49312998
Raptors has neither. They have (as of 7e). Shrouded on turn 1, option to get +1 night fight rolls, and rending bolters.
>>
>>49315932
There isn't really any neutral faction really. Everyone is looking out for their own survival and growth. A truly neutral race in 40k would be one that just wished to left alone. None of them are really like that.

That's not what the discussion is about you dribbling retard.

Dark Eldar, Daemons and Ironhands all have special rules that modify FnP, limits placed on them are irrelevant. To say that Orks shouldn't be allowed something because "There is no precedent for it" is silly.

First Warzone Fenris, now the new 13th Black Crusade books.

Grey Knights are everywhere but get no mechanic updates. What a joke.
>>
>>49316132
I know right. It's not like we have 1 formation or anything, and our codex is one of the worst internally balanced.

I think our Grey Knights may have the widest translation gap of Fluff vs. Crunch. These are all directly quoted from the codex.

>Pg 6. Each one is a powerful psyker
No 3+ warp charge formation or re-roll psychic power manipulation except for expensive ass Apoc formations and the 1 relic that lets you re-roll force. Slightly better at denying the witch if targeted.

>Pg 3. they posses the finest skills and rarest wargear available to the Imperium
Literally mirror regular Space Marine statlines aside from Paladins which are +1BS and +1W. I'll give them the rare wargear part because suped-up autocannons and flamers are cool. Psilencers are a great concept but are lacking tabletop wise.

>Pg 6. Even the Librarians of other chapters cannot match the psychic mastery of the Grey Knights
I do not need to explain this one.
>>
>>49316098
>Dark Eldar, Daemons and Ironhands all have special rules that modify FnP, limits placed on them are irrelevant
But Deldar don't modify FnP. They just get it as the game goes on.
Which, once again, only gives 2 examples of FnP stacking, and a myriad of examples of it not. Therefore it makes sense to say ork FnP doesn't stack, as FnP never stacks unless it explicitly states it stacks. There is litteraly no reason to think it should stack, other than ork players want it to. Which, while I understand why they want that, doesn't change that there is no basis for it.

Wow, way to embarrass yourself, maybe if you actually read the codexes you would know better.

You know, right now you come across like a smug fucking space marine player, throwing a tantrum at the idea he has to share his toys.

kek, nice bantz lad
>>
>>49317142
Still, can't be improved beyond a 4+. And once again, it explicitly states it improves FnP. Ork stuff doesn't. Every psykic power that goves FnP doesn't. Narthecium doesn't. Healing balms don't
>You know, right now you come across like a smug fucking space marine player, throwing a tantrum at the idea he has to share his toys.
Well, Bangles, which I guess is technically marines, but not really what I think you're talking about. Not sure why you're so upset. I just don't want more overpowered shit. Take the iron hands bonus away for all I care, I'm not benefiting from it. And for orks, the rules are very clear. I'd like my FnP to stack, but it doesn't, and so I don't say that endurance plus a narthecium should make a 2+ FnP.
>>
>>49317224
>I just don't want more overpowered shit
You know this is all because mad dok grotsnik has a cybork body and his own FNP, right? A 140+pts character having a 4+ FNP is not overpowered, it's the save he had up until the last codex there.

Actually saying that, is there any other characters with completely useless wargear?
>>
>>49317224
>FnP doesn't stack
No shit...?
Do you even know what this argument is about?

Lets start again.
Cybork body should give FnP+1.

I desperately need to know how many points that DC Chaplain is.

>>49317400
yeah, but how pissed are you.
>>
Ehhh, I'm kinda underwhelmed.

Mostly in that if I wanted to use any of these detachments I'd have to buy a fucking lot of models that I really don't feel like shelling out on. Those core choices are brutally awful.

Also, the last time they did this was for the 6th Sisters of Battle Codex.

As a long time SoB player, I'm allowing myself to be hype, but am ready for the crushing reality of another space Marine Codex/Supplement.

>>
>>49317599

Shit, I'd be ok with another SoB novel. I read the two in print(Faith and Fire, Hammer and Anvil?)

But yea. Allowed hype with zero expectations. I expect nothing, and I'm sure it will be disappointing.
>>
>>49317310
Ok, why? For what reason other than "it's orks, they need the leg up" (because that is in no way a good arguement) should it be +1? I'm not even trying to be arguementive, I'm honestly confused as to why people would think that, other than it's a shit codex, because that's a horrible argument. If a tau player said sense of stone should be +1FnP and thus a model with stim injectors could get 4+ FnP they'd get shit on. The quality of the rest of the dex doesn't change that some things are just bad and should be limited as much as possible. Take away iron hands +1 for all I care, it doesn't matter to me.
>>
>>49317723
So cybork isn't a complete waste of an upgrade.
