See, it's actually rather easy to sculpt with marble when you know what they did.

Alot of people think it was chisel work but most of it was wetwork, slowly polishing it down into the desired shapes. Allows for good precise work and it's not that hard because it's tactile as fuck, but it takes forever.

Are quite different types of helmets. >>49297797 is a close helm, the helmet is opened and closed with the same pivot the visor used, while >>49297810 is an armet, where the helmet is opened and closed by folding the cheek plates in or out, a completely separate mechanism to the visor. This extra mechanism requires those straps, and the disk protects them.
Most traditional pointy face helmets you see are close helms, but because the two look so similar people can often mistake an armet for a close helm.
