Get some friends.

Play as a second player. Compete with yourself. Hate yourself. Learn to love yourself again. Remember what it is you are doing and what you are living for, and feel cleansed by such a catharsis.

Then go out and make some friends.

Arkham Horror is good. Not sure if the LCG will be 1p friendly.

You can at the very least make some friends on the internet. Then you can play games over Skype/Discord/Whatever.

Just go up to people at work and ask to play games, meet some fun guys and cute girls and enjoy. Only very young children or autists truly have no friends.

If you're in college, most universities have a board game playing group that gets together. I see the one around here sometimes in the library, they seem like mostly well adjusted folks.

Many towns have board game Meetups you can find online, or bulletin boards at the FLGS.

But if real people are simply too much to deal with, search BoardGameGeek for the solitaire tag. There are still many options available for the cripplingly shy.

(...including therapy and medication. Seriously, people need friends.)

Are you kidding OP? There are A LOT of good board games these days that can be played solo or are designed entirely for solo play. There are several 'perma-threads' on Board Game Geek's web site.

The XCOM boardgame and Zombicide can be played solo. So can Carcassone, if you treat it like a "beat your own high score" kind of thing. I keep hearing that houseruled Battlestar Galactica makes a good singleplayer game as well.

There are tons of others too.

Death Angel is alright. Kind of luck depend though if that isn't your kind of thing.

Works well enough for me, just be warned that for either one expect to search for a while and to have to bow out of different groups repeatedly until you can find one you're compatible in.
