Why are there so many post about Warhammer 40 000 here?
Why do you all like this setting so much? I mean that's totally lame, it's just bad copy of Warhammer Fantasy, everything in 40k is childish and pathetic. Knight-like marines in big iron armors fighting with chaos using swords, really?

Shut your whore mouth, Heretic.

That's not bait, I'm serious. Is there something brilliant I don't know about in this universe?
Warhammer Wednesdays on /b/ is the only reason /tg/ exists.
For me, there's actually too much "Waifu Panty Maid cuhrazee hijinks" RPG shit, even with /qst/ existing.
It's just great counterpart of Warhammer for people who hate fantasy shit

it's a setting that offers many differnt types of games and also has an offical tabletop and several official roleplaying games. The games are successfull and have a big playerbase.
Everything is over the top and GRITTY GRIM DARK (tm). People like having a fun and over the top silly setting that's not little girls with huge swords and magic but rough tough huge guys with chainsaws and wizards that explode.
As I said you have many different facettes and games, you can have 40k space pirates, soldiers (of basically any real time war just with its own planet), monster/alien/demon hunters with or without power armor and super powers or whatever else in this fuck huge abomination. You could play a bunch of medieval peasants and your planet get's attacked by some xeno and you have to find a way off your planet or something.
Or you could play a shadowrun style game in some hiveworld.
It was a bad copy of warhammer fantasy at first but has since become a thing of its own.

You don't know how young the people in 4chan is.
I had 16 years old too and back in time warhammer 40k was the coolest thing I've never heard of.
10 years later you just realize that you was a child too.
I mean, is not that bad for a teenager and then you simply mantain some affection to it.
Pic related to my first game with space marines.
There's also psychic powers/magic, psykers are my favorite
I wish I was a psyker irl

Thank you, you are the only one who gave me good response for this. I didn't know that's so complex like that. When you look at all this WH 40k pictures it's always the same big boys with swords and guns... Maybe there something more behind them
But that doesn't change the fact that it can be a bad example of what science-fiction is for some people. You know, people see 40k, Star Wars and they think that this is so called science-fiction, because of future, space etc. Science-fiction is something completely different. How we can even call that kind of setting? Space fantasy?

Glad I could help.
If you don't want your thread to be classified as bait by 90% don't say something like "that is lame and bad and childish, how do you like it for real?" Go with something along the lines of "It seems childish and boring to me, like a bad copy of whf, what is the appeal to you?" talk for yourself and don't make statements that will trigger the autists here.
i think the term science fantasy is mostly used for that stuff. Space fantasy makes sense too.
The space marines are the most prominent picture of 40k but there really is much more, imperial guard for example like pic related.
