It's genuinely unnerving. He goes from "normal guy" to "so charismatic people he's just met buy him drinks and hang off every word he says". Vash takes a tremendous beating through the series. He gets dragged around by a horse at full gallop and comes out of it with some bruising.

His CHA scores are also through the roof. He straight up talks several villains into being temporary good guys. I think the only times he can't talk his way out of a situation are when he's dealing with Knives and his cronies.
