I'm getting real tired of Sylvanas' shit. I was excited for her to be the Warchief and I pledged my loyalty, so I wanted to see where her story goes.

If course right off the bat she's giving me orders. I'm the motherfucking Highlord of the Silver Hand. I am the new Ashbringer. Show some respect. But I let it slide, we're under attack and there's more important things to do. But then she pairs me up to with Nathanos "Murderhobo" Blightcaller who can't shut his fucking mouth about how shit I am and how he'll put an arrow in me if I look at him funny.

I am the fucking Light: I brought down the Scarlet Crusade, I killed Kel'Thuzad twice, I restored the Sunwell, Quel'Delar, I killed the Lich King with your fucking queen while you were at home crying your eyes out and sending nobodies to get revenge on some elves because they made fun of you in Ranger school. I'm the goddamn Ashbringer. I am literally your destruction. I can end your sorry existence without a thought. Go on, I dare you. I double fucking dog dare you: start some shit. How many bodies does Sylvanas have for you? Let's find out you fucking leaf-fever, Linkin Park listening, punk ass bitch. Don't you ever fucking talk back to me or I'll lay waste to your whole goddamn undead abomination family.

They don't anymore since they got Sunwell chlorinated, the eyes and skin tone are just leftovers, much like green skin on orcs. It was in one of the dev Q&A sessions.

I just realised something.

Given that demons come back and that fel/demonic power can turn a non-demon into an immortal demon (exhibit a, Illidan), what are the chances Kael thas will return?
>>
Is that new Illidan book any good? The fact that it's not written by Christie Golden is slightly encouraging, but I'm still wary after the after the last half a dozen novels or so were varying degrees of shit.

How're you supposed to level up your pokemans?

>>49087097
Right? I'm sayin.
>>
>>49086821
A little of both. He annoys the fuck out of me and it's been a stressful day at work. It's also a little jarring that after every paladin out there pledges their loyalty to me, he insists on treating me like a bitch.

Though frankly it is absurd that I'm the King Arthur of paladins.
>>
>>49086879
Gul'Dan is ending the world with a giant old school demon invasion and Genn Graymane hates Sylvanas because she killed his son, conquered his people, and as far as he knows, got his new bff killed.

Watch the Broken Shore cinematic.
>>
>>49087180
Being a complete asshole is what makes Nathanos an actual character though.
I bet Sylvanas had the hots for him both in life and undeath because he treats her like a bitch, too.

She insisted on making him the first human ranger. They're clearly fucking.

This meme need to end, Teron is an important and well known character! He's the first death knight for god sake!
>>
>>49087358
>he had his former ranger allies murdered for a fucking book.
Probably out of fear that they would write in how he was fucking their former Ranger General. Or even draw pictures, oh the horror.

It's kind of interesting to note that while nobody bats an eye at half-elves now, older lore indicates that such interspecies relations aren't looked well upon.

>>
>>49088104
Hard to have this kind of stuff in a T-rated game.
Illidan did have a whole harem of bitches for his belf buddies though.
>>
>>49087819
Sylvanas is arguably the best leader they have in the Horde, provided she sorts her shit out. She's clinically depressed and scared of dying leading her to make very questionable choices.

But she's the Banshee Queen for a reason. She's earned the right to rule more than anyone else, even if Vol'jin did make her Warchief.

But like I said, if she can remember how to live for other people she'd be fantastic. I'm hoping Alleria shows up and smacks some sense into her. Too bad Vereesa and Lorthemar hate each other, else she'd be in Silvermoon.
>>
>>49088307
Why do Lorthemar and Vereesa hate eachother?
>>
>>49088374
It's not really much of a personal feud. Lor'themar is pretty reasonable, it's just that high elves in Silvermoon would invite trouble. His short story practically spells out that exiling the high elf remnants was something he'd rather not do, but otherwise there'd be disorder.

Vereesa is prejudiced against in general because her asshole Belf cousin tried to kidnap her kids once, forever cementing her impression that belves are all magic-addicted junkies. Oh, and another belf built a mana bomb that killed her husband, but I'm not sure she's actually aware of that.
>>
>>49088374
I don't know.
>>
>>49088445
prejudiced against belves, that is.
>>
>>49088445
>cementing her impression that belves are all magic-addicted junkies

>>
>>49088477
Seems like it's easy for any elf to get that way, honestly.
>>
>>49087568
He was being held prisoner in the undercity apothecary wing by Sylvanas this entire time. You and Thassarian go rescue him in one of the death knight class quests.
>>
>>49088519
Side-effect of the well of eternity, i assume. Nelves need moonlight (which is magic), nightborne need the nightwell (which is magic), high elves and blood elves need magic in general. Satyrs and naga don't seem to need shit
>>
>>49088519
It is, but high elves pride themselves on resisting the urge through meditation and whatnot instead of finding some demons to suck on.
>>
>>49088104
Slavery is a common practice in Azeroth (not so much in the Alliance however.) Illidan did have a whole wing dedicated to concubines and royal whores though, I'm sure stuff like sex slavery is also fairly common since alot of quests involve you rescuing a son or daughter who's been forcibly married.
>>
>>49088445
There's literally almost no difference between the elves at this point. The only people not living in Quel'Thalas are buttmad over getting exiled and/or racists who hate Orcs and Trolls.
>>
>>49088644
I mean, blood elves would've been back in the Alliance if the stupid RvB conflict didn't have to keep getting forced.
>>
>>49087159
Not with my DH's backstory per say, but her new goal after meeting Emmigosa is to protect her smile at all costs. And the best way to do that is kick the Legion strait in the dick until they fuck off back to space, so it all works out.
>>
>>49087764
How does Sylvanas have enough fans for this to be true?
>>
>>49088644
Belves aren't exactly in a hurry to invite the high elves back after cleaning up the Sunwell.
Blizz also mentioned that most of the currently surviving high elves are those who broke off from Quel'thalas after the Second War, when Anasterian ditched the Alliance. I doubt they'd be eager to go back to a Horde-aligned home they haven't been to in decades anyhow.
>>
>>49088680
you mean if the elf pop balance quota didn't have to be forced

horde without elves is nothing
>>
>>49088734
Right, they're also a tiny fraction of the entire high elf race, they just get a lot of love in game because reasons.
>>
>>49088703
Some people are attracted to rot and crazy, and Sylvanas has both in spades.
>>
>>49088816
She's not rotting. I believe her body is preserved in undeath the way Death Knights are.
>>
>>49088780
I wouldn't say they get "a lot", besides the Silver Convenant there's barely a dozen named, let alone relevant high elves. Come Legion it looks like SC isn't even in control of its own enclave in Dalaran anymore.

objectively WRONG. Kael's elves didn't even think about demon magic at the time of Garithos' betrayal. Ner'zhul was never a "good guy all along," he was just as much of a scheming bastard till the end when Arthas snuffed him out. The Overmind wasn't good, just doing what he thought necessary for the survival of the Zerg, and in any case LotV implied that everything involving Zeratul and the Overmind was a part of the Xel'naga trying to manipulate things to stop Amon.

My guess would be that one of the top priorities of the Royal Apothecary Society is holding her rotting body together. It may no longer be working as well as it used to, that's why she has covered up her midriff now and why she's so desperate to get the power of the valkyr for herself.

While I like Sylvanas, I eagerly await based Genn fucking up her every single attempt at clawing out some kind of future for her that isn't eternal darkness. She needs to deal with her mortality already, quit being a bitch about it and focus on the Legion.

This sort of thing never happened before and now happened once again.

I dunno, somewhere around Arthas all Warcraft books got too awfully bland, uninspired and plothole-ridden even for cheap paperback read. I still fondly remember DotD, Lord of the Clans and the Last Guardian and read them again every now and then. The newer works are either so bland I don't remember they exist, or so outrageously bad (War Crimes) that I do.

Arthas itself had an very drastic change in quality half way through. It was fun reading his childhood and the details in the Third War. Everything after Quel'thalas became a rushed summary of the rest of RoC and most of TFT, all the way until the final battle with Illidan did it slow down and give us some detail. But even then there weren't much new, just a bit of flavor.

I remember these two got on my nerves due to the authors having absolutely no sense of scale. No, your army can't cross Lordaeron in a day, it's half a fucking continent.

Oh and the romantic subplot was dumb. People love to harp on Knaak the Hack, but Alleria's relationship with Turalyon basically amounts to "my lil' bro is ded, fuck me" with no subsequent mention of Arator, who is supposed to be important.
>>
>>49091588
Never read it, only listened to cheap Youtuber summary. But the whole premise sounded retarded. Why the fuck is there a "modern" trial where both side gets a lawyer? Why would a fucking faction leader be qualified as a lawyer? Sylvanas wanted to turn Veresa into an undead? Poisoning Garrosh is bad apparently? Somehow freeing Garrosh before the trial was complete was good? And then something something Jaina got shot in the heart instead of Ice Barrier/Block and somehow got healed? Wut?

It follows the 'main character defends someone in a trial' thing a lot of shows do, namely Star Trek. I think the worst part is that the Celestials weren't impartial and had a verdict before the trial even started. Showing what people could become is pointless if you're talking about alternate universes. Literally anything is possible when you bring up the multiverse. You could be as bad as Garrosh, or you could have been killed in early childhood, or you might have been raised to worship celery or whatever.

An episode of Judge Judy in a fantasy setting. That alone is bad.
The whole trial is a sham and it's painfully obvious the Celestials are trying to convince everyone that Garrosh is a good boi.
Tyrande is once again presented as a supreme retard who manages not to bring up any actual instances of definite wrongdoing on Garrosh's part.
Grating references to in-game mechanics (Golden loves these, but for the sake of fuck, this is supposed to be a book about a fantasy setting, not the game based on it)
Sylvanas is perfectly okay with poisoning her sister and raising her into undeath to rule the Forsaken together. The thought that Vereesa might not appreciate being an undead abomination does not occur to her.
Vereesa is perfectly okay with defecting to the Horde (sans the undead part, which Sylvanas hasn't mentioned to her) despite, you know, having two kids to care of and the Horde having dropped a nuke on her husband, then gets cold feet at the last moment.

Let's not go too far, relic writers have nowhere near the same responsibilities or scope compared to writers that have to make sure WoW still makes a modicum of sense. A strategy game like DoW is much easier to write than a MMO that keepsup for more than 10 years.

>inb4 40k has been around for much longer than wow
I know that, but the whole point of 40k is that you can isolate your dudes to make you own story. In the grand scheme of things, the BR has next to no importance, hence it's much easier to make the wholething cohesive.

I completely agree on VA though. Probably the only game where the french VA are better than the original ones, which is quite a feat when you look at the quality of the english ones.

Should only one player per server have an artifact weapon?

My guildies and I have been enforcing this: We're the canonical artifact wielders, and whenever we see someone else with an artifact out, we harrass and pester them, following the rules perfectly so that it doesn't count as harrassment and we don't get in trouble. >>

>Hard to believe this is the same guy who wrote Flintlocke's Guide to Azeroth.

No, it really isn't.

The dude wrote a lowbrow comedy webcomic about two bands of klutzy "heroes" rampaging through WoW with no real focus on canon or story. It was mostly a series of gags which sometimes led to bigger gags (like Flintlocke destroying Stormwind). There was never anything in FGtA that indicated to me that Kosak would be a great lore writer.

I will agree in one respect, though. While there have been a few good comedy quests during his tenure (for example "Welcome to the Machine" in post-Cata Hillsbrad) a lot of his humor seems to have deteriorated to "funny" pop culture references which aren't funny in any way. The pop culture jokes were always there in Blizzard games, it was one of their trademarks. But when Kosak became head writer he seemed to interpret this as THROW IT IN PEOPLE'S FACES CONSTANTLY and MAKE WHOLE QUESTLINES (and in one instance a whole fucking ZONE) based on shitty jokes. It's really deteriorated the overall atmosphere of the world.

Cannonically, the BE or worgen. Both races should have so few people it's not even funny.

Pretty much every race is actually a small portion of what it could be normally, apart from the NE and Orcs maybe.

Humans are meantto be from one of the smallest kingdom, Stormwind.
Dwarfs were assailed on all sides and only from 1 of the 3 big clans.
Gnomes nuked their capitals and lost a sizeable chunk of their population.
Draeneis are a portion of survivors of a race that tried to murderfuck them to corruption.
Worgen are the remnants of a popliztion that had a civil war, a natural catastrophe, an invasion, and a chemical bombardment throw on them.

Pandas are from an island that is in itself home to what would be a small village so not numerous at start, then divide rhel between Alliance and Horde.

Trolls are from one of the weakest tribe, the jungle ones.
Forsaken are the small part of undead that they could resurrect, kepe sane, and keep loyal.
Tauren were getting exterminated by Centaurs and Quillboars.
BE are the few survivors that survived getting Scourged, those going with Kael, and surviving magic addiction.
And goblins are what remains of Khezan after all the shir they went through.

Really, only 2 races out of them all are safe from a potential "dying race" etiquette. An etiquette which was hanging over most of them in Vanilla.

It's funny but it's really true when going through leveling.

>90% of everything is pointing towards "We need to harness the titanic shit" or "Army of Light"

>Warriors the only ones who deal with Titans stuff directly
>Paladins and Priests share the Army of light

Everyone else is doing stupid tactics like the Deathknights making four randome useless asshats and the Shamans "Let's unite four failures"

Then the drama started and Malfurion goes from angryman to HELP ME TYRANDE to laughing at Xavius in the instance.

Warriors have the best artifact questline, killing a Pitlord and gaining entrance into Warrior Heaven. , mages probably have the worst.

Warriors also have the best way of leaving their Order Hall which is falling to earth like Thor in a ball of fire.

>>49092760
Some other non-Vikings would be cool, like dead lore characters. Just a bit of variety. Plus nobody can pronounce 'jar' right.
>>
Man, the DH clas questline makes Akama into a colossal whiny faggot. Apparently he was the onyl person Illidan entrusted all the details of his plan to fight the Legion, and what does he do? Get 25 murderhoboes to stab him to death, because "muh Light, muh temple". Then the DHs actually offer him a chanse to join them to help stop the Legion from assraping Azeroth, and he tells them to fuck off and tried to kill you (although apparently if you pick Altruis during the DH starter quest, Akama will join you).

Also, what's the deal with Shade of Akama anyway? I thought it was just some magical manifestation/construct created by Illidan to allow him to control the Ashtongue broken, but in the questline he seems to have its own personality, stating that he's "free again" and mentioning how it has always admired Illidan when you talk to him. The DHs also treat it as a proper person, rather than some construct. Best I can figure it would be the part of Akama's subconcious that doesn't hate Illidan, given form.
>>
>>49092786
Skyhold WAS going to have tons of fallen warriors, but they changed it because MUH LORE of people whining why a Human and Orc would go to Vrykul heaven.

When will this tired meme end? You got BTFO by Tirion, shut up already.
>>
>>49092799
Because Illidan didn du nuffin.

Shade of Akama is literally Illidan slicing Akama's soul in two and corrupting the fuck out of it so he can hold Akama hostage like the literal Lucifer figure he is.

You should have picked Altruis the Red-pilled because Kayn is basically a shill for Illidan's stupidity.

Warlocks also kill a Pitlord. Only they carve out his heart to take control of his army of demons.

But do they go to glorious Valhalla, shiny and chrome? No, they get to be the Edgelord of Planet Schoolshooting.

Is it as bad as hunters hipster 'actually we've been fighting the legion for ten thousand years, but you've probably never heard of us' lore? At least there's a cute murloc at the lodge.
>>
>>49092844
No, they're the one class that goes toe-to-toe with the Legion with its own power, but we won't get to anything significant with it because that would take away from Demon Hunters being the special fucking snowflakes with demon powers of the expansion.
>>
>>49092851
Basically, Warriors deal with all the Titanic Watchers basically being the strongest dudes on Azeroth who fucked up by being lazy god shits.

Warrior's job is to play General Patton in leading up to Ragnarok.

Ha, you could say Warlocks are mediocre.

Our class has so little representation in lore, Blizzard had to make Gul'Dan our face in Hearthstone. Gul'Dan, who was long dead and non-entity by this point.

Well, that's the point, isn't it? Warriors have a ton of important NPCs like Magni, Varian or Grom. Paladins had Tyrion, Maraad, Liadrin and Dezco (who is actually a more important tauren than Baine, go figure). Rogues had both VanCleefs, Valeera, Matthias Shaw, plenty too choose from. But us warlocks had long dead Gul'dan and a bunch of demon bad guys, who really can't be called warlocks, because they are demons themselves. Black Harvest are literally the one notable warlocks apart from that one gnome, who summoned Jaraxxus and died.

I don't think the idea behind the artefacts is bad. Artefact traits are very similar to the old talent tree system, and having a signature weapon you upgrade, rather than replacing every few quests because you got a weapon with +5 ilevel, is neat. But I do think handing out Ashbringer and the likes to every player for free was a bad move. I prefer the kind of artefacts are are clearly powerful weapons, but not massively famous lore-defining things like the Ashbringer. Like the havoc DH weapon, which is the blade of some demon hunter that turned traitor, and got powered up by Kil'jaden, or the combat rogue weapon, which is a cursed pirate sword.
>>
>>49093203
Different generation that was made to suck Gul'dan's and by extension the Legion's dick.
Of course, Gorefiend joined Illidan later on for some reason, so he might not be that loyal to the Legion. But anyway, he ded. Again.

>>
>>49092487
Humans died in droves too in the second war.
Then after a short period of peace got ravaged by the plague followed by getting raped by Undead.
Then the demons appeared and could operate unchecked for a while until Archimonde was stopped.

Not to begin with the bullshit blue vs. red wars in later wow.
>>
>>49092605
According to what the alliance did to Alterac, it is.
>>
>>49093434
At the start of vanilla it would seem like the combined plague/demon rape train went through about half of Lordaeron and maybe Dalaran, judging by how Southshore, Stromgarde and southern Silverpine were more or less intact. So four (and a half) out of six remaining human kingdoms lucked out at the time.
>>
>>49093465
After Warcraft 3, the two main humain kingdoms should have been Stromgarde and Kul Tiras.
>>
Will the naga ever just get over it? It's been thousands of years and they're still mad they got sent to undersea mega prison.
>>
>>49093445
The difference is that Dalaran basically rebuilt itself (with help from a guy who basically hated any one who wasn't human, and was probably self-promoted and not affiliated with anyone in Alliance High Command), and didn't try to backstab the Alliance by trying to assassinate one of the Alliance's heroes to get better leverage with the Horde.

It was basically "Hey, Malygos and Arthar are gonna push our shit in, we need all the mages and their we can get". It also helped that the apprentice of their last leader (who has turned out quite powerful herself) is...or was, a huge proponent for cooperation.

The only niggling thing is how Horde (most likely Forsaken and probably Blood Elves) attacked Runeweaver's Dalaran forces outside the bubble. Which is why I thought it was a nice touch in how he was the other "No" vote to let the Horde back into Dalaran. Though back then I used to joke that the Horde leveraged the whole Forsaken defectors quest into some sort of diplomatic favor.

OG Gul'dan didn't care about the Legion, he just wanted power. Hell, his last moments were spent trying to steal the powers of Sargeras.

Teron himself was surprisingly loyal to the Old Horde, rather than Gul'dan himself, and when that broke up he became a free agent. He didn't actually join Illidan, just squatted in his basement.

And hey, he could come back again. The wheel turns once more...
>>
>>49093754
>And hey, he could come back again. The wheel turns once more...
Yeah, that's straight-up implication that he's immortal now
>>
>>49093781
Yeah last time he "died" his ghost just hung out in SMV for a couple decades until he duped some unwitting adventurer into freeing him.
>>

>>49093808

Death is a pretty minor concern in WoW for villains. Only heroes die permanently.
>>
>>49093365
If you're referring to Alexstraze getting raped by the orcs to breed an army of dragons, that's still canon. Dragons only became sterile after the Aspects sacrificed their power to stop Deathwing at the end of Cataclysm.

in Warcraft 2 the demons inside Sargeras' tomb were on Gul'dan's side. It was only in TFT that they changed it so that Gul'dan betrayed the Legion

He was hanging around as a ghost in TBC until he duped the players into bringing him hid body, and then headed to Black Temple to crash on Illidan's couch. He got killed (again) in the BT raid, but all things considered, his ghost is probably still hanging around somewhere.
