The TL:DR; is that split personality doesn't mean split consciousness. A split personality is inherently defensive response to suffering. If a person disassociates themselves with pain, then when they lose their sense of self. It's a disassociation disorder, not "two souls, one brain."

The most common instance of split personality actually occurs when somebody learns a new language. Each language can be associated with a distinct identity within a person that can have differences in behavior.

Having a good split personality villain is making one with often polarized and inconsistent attitudes towards things because his mind is totally scrambled. He's still the same guy, he's just got two or more warring perspectives in his head and he's constantly juggling them around.

7 souls were all manifesting as the same body. they could talk to eachother (no. 3 talking to no. 4 while they are manifesting as no. 2) and they can all see what the manifest is see.
