What does the inside of the Black Library look like?

Have there been any novels that describe it?

For that matter, how do imagine the interior of the webway?
>>
>>48875726
It is dark with a lot of books.
>>
>>48875726
Daemonifuge, arguably non-canon, has an illustration of a webway junction with everything from rangers to fire prisms passing through in different directions.

It's impossible in appearance and looks like people free floating along invisible walkways with no concept of perspective.
>>

Cheers. I'll have a peek
>>

>Have there been any novels that describe it?

Atlas Infernal.

>For that matter, how do imagine the interior of the webway?

Silvery tunnels in general. But loads of books feature webway action.

>How do imagine the interior...

How do I even brain.

The only canon source I've personally read, the Dark Heresy BRB, describes "unspeakable
pale, hairless things that toil within its walls."

Ouside of that, Lexicanum has an article which describes the Library's defenses and includes a picture of its Guardians (pic related). It's defenses are primarily psychic and it's scribes double as guardians. Additionally, the article mentions that, "The Library's mind defends itself", which I would take to mean that it is self-aware or something similar.

I've been thinking about getting that book ever since it went back up on the webstore. Is it any good?

As for the interior aesthetic, the BL is a craftworld, so I imagine it'd at least have a similar aesthetic to other Eldar craftworlds (probably darker and/or even more alien though).

As for what the webway looks like, this is the only canon image that I'm aware of. Keep in mind though, this is Commoragh, which is a heavily populated section of it; I have no idea what the portions that are used for active travel look like.

>What does the inside of the Black Library look like?

First floor is adult and YA fiction, periodicals, audio-visual, and new releases, as well as the children's section. Upstairs is non-fiction, the computer lab, reference desk, and mircofilm/microfiche.

The Book of Mournful Night is an ancient book written in the War in Heaven. It chronicles the history of the Necrons and C'tan from the perspective of the Eldar.

The book is locked in the depths of the Black Library and it's under close guard by the Black Library's guardians.

Why is that? It's not a Chaos tome that will spread corruption. It's just a history book about the Necrons. What's so dangerous about it?
>>
>>48878193
Eldar like to keep their secrets.
You need no reason to hide knowledge from other races if you are snooty knife-eared scum.
>>
>>48878193
The black library IS the biggest collecting of chaos knowledge in the galaxy but it's also possible that it's the biggest collecting of knowledge in the galaxy.

I guess there are a lot of things locked up.
>>
>>48879697
Who are they hiding it from? It's in the Black Library most protected part and under special security for no discernible reason.

I mean who is going to go insde the Black Library and steal a book about Necrons?
>>
>>48880150
Necrons. I doubt they want information about themselves in the hands of people they plan on exterminating.
>>
>>48880200
>crons entering the webway
>crons knowing what the BL is and finding where it is hidden

High unlikely.
>>
>>48880221
It's only a matter of time. And necrons have quite a lot of that on their hands.
>>
>>48880221
You do know that necrons routinely use the webway, right?
They basically have to.
>>
>>48880282
Not the portion that the Black Library is in.
Also it tries to kill them.
>>
>>48880221
God, I hate the new fluff that it is even possible...

They can only use it for brief periods though before the webway automatically ejects them. Even with Eldar having unrestricted access only the Harliequins know where to find it. Very unlikely Crons even know about it nevermind having any interest in it.
>>
>>48880721
They might have been retconned. New lore says the Dolmens shackles portions of the Webway to the Necron's will. Also that they allow the Necrons to traverse huge portions of it.
>>
>>48878161
I heard getting a library card is a bit of a bitch

maybe the eldar just want to hoard all of the YA fiction for themself
>>
>>48875726
It has porn everywhere, and the guardians are a bunch of sad pandas.
>>
>>48878019
It is self aware - I forget where I've seen it, but it can choose to deny someone entry.
>>
>>48878134
This looks fucking sweet but I cannot make sense of it.
>>
>>48882423
Looking at the left page he long black things are inhabitated spires that various kabals control sections of.
Near the top where the smaller spires jut out tangentially is a landing dock for ships.
At the bottom of the spire where all the spires in that cluster form from is a stolen sun.

All around them are other spires and portals looking at other sections.
>>
>>48882712
>stolen sun
that's pretty badass

Not a huge 40k fan, but I read 'the inquisition war' years ago and I remember the inquisitor and his crew seeking out the black library for "knowledge of something", forgot what...
Anyways, I remember it being described as warehouse sized halls walled with tomes and multiple level walkways along them, everything being a bit noneuclidian. Have the impression it was rather ornate. Can't find the book anymore, couldn't get the text in a few Google searches either.
