The premises of both are very similar, only difference is one turns into a goblin, the other a Slime.
There've been a number of RE: quests here (though they're all more or less dead or dormant right now), and they were fairly popular.

The general perception I've seen of them is that it's an interesting idea but RE: is horrifyingly bad due to the MC being a Mary Sue and the whole goblin rape camp thing.
No, no, rape would be too... boring. They used Aphrodisiacs to coerce elves. Totally doesn't propagate Slut-Elves, amiright?
Yeah, in all seriousness it's more interesting as a concept than an actual story. Tensei Shitara seems to almost go the same route, but the character may be slightly more fallible.

RE: Monster is absolute garbage, though the premise spawned some quests here. Ironically, the authors of those quests universally agree that the source material is terrible.

As a setting it's alright and a fun playground to play and write in.
Don't know enough about the slime one to have an opinion on it.

Re and slime concept are decent. The story themselves are shit.

started out kind of interesting then turned into harem mary sue shit real fast.

I don't get why people read light novels when they don't like harem mary sue shit. It's like reading trashy romance novels and hoping for a decent story.
More like REEEEEEEEEEE: Monster amirite

fair enough. i just didn't expect it to be at the level it is. and i like to keep my harem shit in /h/ personally.
