Why would the necrons do that? If they know what the gene does and know giving that shit to us would give us crazy powers why the fuck would they even make the attempt to isolate the gene?
Also how shit would that be with all the depression and shit? Krieg would probably doom the fucking universe just on its own. Also the only reason is works for orcs is they're relatively united in goals. All it takes is one fearful guardsmen breaking down screaming about how they're all gonna die and then the groups compounded field dies as everyone has a thought that he might be right even if it is flitting and small. Congratulations. The human genome now contains yet another string of leftover viral DNA, bereft of an activation sequence or any genetic markers which would enable the body to use it.

Maybe after a century or two of further mutation somebody might wind up with a gene that activates that sequence by mistake, and as a result they're born deformed. Shockingly enough complex biological processes require support structures which stem from multiple genes, and do poorly when ripped out and implemented alone in another organism.
Let alone an organism of a different KINGDOM. Seriously nigger, moving traits across species is already a complicated process for anything beyond "produce X proteins." You wanna start slapping fungal markers into mammalian creatures, you'd better be prepared for a lot of aftercare.
