If you're the author of a setting, you can decide an elf is nine feet tall with four arms and it will be true.
There is no single correct answer for the bodily measurements of elves because they're fictional creatures that have deviated quite a lot from the original concept.

If you're talking D&D, then there's considerable overlap in size and builds. And ears aren't so tall that it's a problem.

Elves in Forgotten Realms are much smaller than humans on average, while Eberron elves are almost the same average height and stockier like humans.
