Wouldn't it make more sense for them to fall to khornenate or slanneshi influences? Since they strive for perfection and destruction. And their lack of souls would make them easy hosts if they were to encounter deamons.

Honestly I wish we knew more about their combat capabilities. They are either weaker or stronger than space marines just with larger numbers.

The more we know about them, the less their mystery is. Like the two missing Primarchs, these are blank canvases best left unfilled. The more we know about them, the less the narrative can actually live up to the hype, and the more chance they are underwhelmingly presented in the face of that mystery.

If we quantify Men of Iron, give them statistics and capabilities, we risk ending up with some super-special robot race that defies even the crazy logic of the 40k setting, or we get something underwhelming that doesn't live up to the menacing mystery of the Men of Iron. Every glimpse we do see is interesting because we're treated to a scene of extensive destruction in a very short time, and they're treated as a threat of dead seriousness when they're loose.

But anon, the mystery is good and all but the men of iron are just robots. The only mysteries left to solve about them are what corrupted them. Which is heavily hinted to be chaos. Also we've actually encountered men of iron in the lore. They were destroyed along with their stc. Thats what the op image is one of the men of iron "interrogating" a magos. I just hope one day they're encountered in force but perhaps with only few survivors to detail their assault, more than likely they would be mistaken for necrons.

IIRC Gaunt himself saw one get "birthed" from a machine on a chaos world, and the dozens of "normal" Men of Iron who were locked in cages around the machine began to go apeshit, seeming to actively reject and abhor the very obviously Chaos-corrupted Man of Iron that was created. He also stated it looked very different, and was a twisted, wretched thing that was a mockery of a true Man of Iron.

The blew the whole place to high hell, destroying all of them. They also may or may not have found a complete STC in there, but it too was corrupt by the Chaos world.

To be fair, the greatest enemy of the Necrons is the Necrons themselves. Many of them are quite insane, and don't even realize it.
