It certainly looks that way.

I mean, Order has more sub-factions than any other Alliance, right? So it sort of makes sense.

That said, I think it'd be more interesting from a narrative perspective if at least one city ends the campaign in the hands of a non-Order Alliance.

Meh... found out I was the last post on thread. Anyways, here he is finished. Wasn't super pleased on how the cloth turned out, its a bitch to paint, and even worse when doing black I feel. But then again, when you have the box cover in front of you while you paint you just cant help to feel a bit worthless from time to time, as that stuff is absolutely gorgeous!

Still hyped over to try him out, and am as I type, right in the process of building my brutes! While on the topic, anyone has a good conversion idea for a Gore choppa? Its not that I don't like it, but I'm planning on getting more units, and don't want to have exact copies of the same weapon.

Should the beastmen tactics article be rewritten? A lot of their stuff isn't even in the same faction anymore nor has any major synergy amongst itsekf, such as their mobsters and Warherds.

It turns out that the kids of today are not impressed by grey morality and that they want heroes to cheer on and villains to boo on.
>>
>>48336699
That doesn't make sense at all, senpai.
>>
>>48336806

Nah, I like bith, but Warhammer was never one for subtlty and nuance. What you ascribe to 'grey morality' means, to a lot of people, 'muh fantasy racism' and less to do with flawed, humanized protagonists.

I think the closest they've come is in novels, predominately the Empire and some Norscan fiction, and mmmmmmaybe the Elves. The rest of the setting was always full of black hats and silly XTREME villains.
>>
I think what Brayherds need is Heroes on chariots again. The only reason they can't is there is no official model for it. Kind of annoying really.
>>
>>48336867
40k is really the one that has grey morales by the virtue of everyone being an asshole. Mostly because it was derived from 2000AD comics that liked make fun of two extremes that just ends up causing a lot of damage either way. Like you have Chaos ruining society and then you have order through the Imperium ruining freedom. Both are terrible options and you are not supposed to think of either as the real good guy, but GW still decided to make the Chaos Space Marines the moustasch twirling villains.
>>
>>48336820
The points cost is for the minimum unit number, so:

5 = 80
10 = 160
20 = 320

etc.
>>
>>48336923
Why the fuck are my Centigor in the monsters section?

They should just merge Brayherds, Bullgor and Monsters into one 'Beastkin' faction, give them all the same keyword

Also bring back Ghorros and Malagor, even in the form of generic heroes it would be something.
>>
>>48336923
There would be if it wasn't squatted
>>
>>48336957
You aren't losing much if you want to take units from both groups.
>>
>>48336957

We get no heroes. I'll be surprised if we EVER get any new heroes. Maybe the TW dlc for beastmen selling will convince GW they aren't a dead faction waiting to be squatted...
>>
>>48336965

Gorthor is still valid and legal, but it's not Your Dude, plus I don't know how much longer they'll support legacy stuff.
>>
>>48336980
GW said that they will keep rules for legacy stuff available for all times, which is why they got points in the first place. Whether or not you believe GW is going to keep this up is your decision.
>>
>>48336969

Beastmen gave some decent synergy going on, in fact with Gorthor, a wargor, and a Furious Brayherd you have a shitload of Gors, chariots, etc. Making tons of attacks with re-rolling 1's on all hits and wounds, adding ones to hit and wound (possibly another +1 to wound and attack for Gors), running another +2" and charging after running.

It's the only thing that makes Brayherd beastmen stand out, so you probably want to double down on it.

hey guys, anyone got in alot of games with the new points system???

Question for those who have: are behemoth units op? or can they be sniped easily? wondering whether or not to include another Daemon Prince and a Soul Grinda in my army
>>
>>48337002
The question is ir they will update the legacy warscrolls in the future, should they decide to fuck with the rules.
>>
>>48337043

Depends on the opponents army. I would be wary of artillery heavy armies and ones with flying beatsticks, like an empire general or chimera.
>>
>>48336980
>talking about models
>brings up rules
I have an uneasy sense of déjà vu
>>
>>48337043
I very much doubt they are OP unless someone's army is really mono-build with like only grots or whatever.

They get weaker over time and very few can heal, i'm enjoying using Shaggoths and Jabberslythes. The soul-grinder you mentioned does seem pretty strong on paper but i assume it's expensive.

>>48337060
Is the Chimera that deadly? i might use one soon for my Chaos force. it's powerful yet i feel it will lose wounds quickly with that 5+ save, it'll probably be my shield candidate
>>
>>48337085

It does a lot of damage and it's fast, but it's also a huge glass cannon. I usually flank with it and have Skullcrushers with Mystic shield screen for it and pin down units it wants to charge.
>>
What are good Battleline units for a mostly Tzeentch force? Already got 2x units of horrors, but don't really feel like adding more horrors. Don't have enough points for a 30 strong blob of Daemonettes either.
>>
>>48329288
Well, Fireforge games makes plastic miniatures that fits the Bretonnia aesthetic, that is if you don't mind the realistic scale and proportions of historical miniatures.
>>
>>48337059
What kind of fuckery would they have to do for the warscroll to need changing? With the rules being as light as they are and most of the important bits being on the warscrolls they'd have to do some super drastical shit.
>>
>>48336500

Okay, so the first two Empire detachments are in the free rules compendium with points in the Legacy list of the GH. Where the hell do I find the third one, though? "Free People's Regiment" or somesuch?
>>
>>48337412
It's GW. I have come to expect stupid shit from them over the years.
>>
>>48337592
Well if it's something from the original PDF or any of the 4 GA books it should have points, you're probably being blind or stupid like most people in these threads.

Some battalions just straight up do not have points however, it seems anything from a narrative book lacks points and is intended for free play / narrative only. Same with any battalion you find in a bundle box. Which is kind of silly, but...
>>48337595
>>
Now that they're up for preorder, is it just me or did Bonesplittaz get a huge nerf?

No more inherent war paint and savage orruks losing their rend and reroll to hit seem to be the most blatant offenders.

Unless their battalions are bonkers, I'm not impressed given they don't even seem competent at their gimmick.
>>
>>48337698
Splitting them into 3 different units based on weapons and then changing their abilitys is pretty retarded, not looking forward to this concept GW is trying to push.

So it seems Morboyz are the go-to option, i assume they are battle-line and the fact they can deal out d3 mortal wounds to monsters each turn is pretty cool.

Basic savage orks seem pointless and personally arrowboyz always felt stupid, i'm sure nobody has ever built that option, the models don't suit bows.

Yeah gotta agree losing that -1 rend is big, and i'm still confused as to why dudes with a 6+ save only get one attack, yet 2 wounds each on base infantry is kind of sweet.
>>
>>48337751
The morboyz are not battleline. They are by far the most baffeling part of the new bonesplitterz to me. Theyre just not good and cost to much.

The arrowboys I could see use simply because taking 30 gives you 90 shots with -1 rend against monsters. I've had some good success with my grot archers so I could see the arrowboys also working.

The boarboys and maniaks look like they could be quite strong, even if the lack of rend is annoying.

The fact that all the models have one more wound than the cost equivalents have but shitty saves to compensate is kinda neat but it really looks like it will screw up the heroes. They all got shitty saves and barely more wounds than equivalent heroes so I'm afraid they can be killed quite easily.

I could imagine some of the Warclans giving them good bonuses could make the bonesplitterz decently strong and the whole 'two wound infantry at the cost of one' could be better in practice than it looks on paper. But I'm not super thrilled yet.
>>
>>48337751
>horde unit
>spears & shields are pointless
I honestly cannot disagree more. I mean, sure, two different weapons are kinda nice, and the Deff Ride is a useful ace in the hole, but overall I'd much rather have savage boys instead of morboys.
>>
>>48336500

Warhammer didn't have gray morality, it had satire. As in everything that could be wrong was wrong.

I was thinking Drakesworn Templars were better than the Celestant.

After artifacts (both have +1 damage artifact) and traits (Celestant has legendary fighter) the Celestant does 4.99 unsaved wounds in melee against 3+ save while the Templar with Lance does (assuming monster target) 1.75, with an axe does 1.77 and with the hammer does 2.13.

That's just the guy by himself, the drakes themselves are identical.

I know hero hunting isn't really what the Celestant is trying to do but it's the only place where the two even differ. Is 100 points worth 3 unsaved wounds?

Different anon here. It's generally true for all magazines, regardless of what they're related to. It wouldn't surprise me if White Dwarf is written a little closer to its release date because it's only a small weekly publication, but that sort of lag between writing and release is quite common.

Thankfully the paladin box comes with two star soul maces, so if they actually become madmen and do

What's the best fluff source to read up on Dracothion? He seems like a pretty fucking major character given that he's essentially 'God' of the WHFB/AoS multiverse.
I'm very curious about a few things:
> Is he benevolent in giving the mortals a second chance, or is it just his natural 'thing' to create?
> Is he aware of the mortals he's creating? Is he self-aware?
> Is Chaos part of his plan, does he oppose it, or is he simply unaware?
> Was anybody in the WHFB universe aware of him at all?
> How does he interact with the Old Ones, if at all?

I know almost nothing other than him being God as a space-faring creation dragon.
Has he been expanded upon in the Seraphon/Extremis tomes at all?

Anyone here build that Deathrattle formation and played it? Is deathrattle or death in general a fun army?
>>
>>48342224
They do, but each of them are unique characters. Whereas you could build a Ghoul King and a Zombie Dragon/Terrorgheist, or a Ghoul King on ZD/TG with the Flesh Eaters one, and they're not unique. The Horrors can also be Flayers, and there's also the Courtiers.
It's just a lot more options than Arkhan/Neferata/Baldmoron + skellys and mounted skellys.
>>
>>48339487
Its kind of pottery if you think about it, considering how past campaigns have gone, and how much they hyped up Archaon
>>
>>48342433
I'd say build a mostly skeleton army, grave guard are great with the death allegiance trait. But definitely bring a vampire lord as your general. Its the same command ability, with the benefits of benefits of getting a wizard. Bring some wight kings to march around with your skellies too, to get that bonus to hit.

Cav options are also good, Hexwraiths and Black Knights can tear it up.

Which is a shame because I like how the Lance looks but it causes 0.3466 less wounds per turn. A total calamity, I know
>>
>>48343283
Yea, guess that makes sense, but just seems better to let the common man have something, bit of an ollanius pius situation, one lone human does something SO badass that all the big stompy defenders of humanity have to try and steal it from them
>>
>>48343229
>that £60 of Skullcrushers includes 6 models
Wait, it does? I always thought that was a 3 model kit. Must be a holdover from WHFB.
Well, that knocks down the Bloodbound bundle to a more reasonable £35.50.
Also, yeah, Prosecutors aren't just poor on the tabletop, they also are fairly costly.
...I still own 12.

>>48343255
It's just a 'Sigmarite Greathammer' made in the image of Ghal Maraz.
>>
>>48343320
Yeah, but isn't it even better when he does it with a fairly common weapon instead of using the functional epitome of a weapon in the setting?
I mean, the Freeguild General with a shield and Sigmarite Hammer (and a nice relic, if at all possible) can outfight several big things twice his cost and give many others a run for their money. That's pretty damn badass already.
>>
>>48343174
Does the effect from Hoarfrost Blade stack?
>>
>>48343386
>if a model suffers any wounds from this weapon
I would say no.

There are other effects out there though, dark elf sorceress on foot has a spell that gives -1 to to hit rolls.
>>
>>48343337

>prosecutors are poor on tabletop

They're fast cav. They cause 4.77 saves (which granted, isn't that impressive but 5 liberators will do 4.66 with a grand hammer on the Prime) between them, their shooting and a grand hammer plus they charge an average of 10.5" after moving 12".

They're for sniping out squishy artillery crews or two squads can face fuck a support hero since they can fly.
>>
>>48342934
>npc races and bbeg
gee i wonder why they are losing
on an unrelated note chaos is actually winning in my store
>>
>>48343483
>>48343386

It stacks with the relictor. 3+ roll and that dumb beetle is rolling 6's to hit.

Want to make Archaon hit on 4's?
>>
>>48343524
Ah, right, misunderstood what was being asked.
>>

>>48343386
I'd say yes, but by RAW should probably only go off once per turn. It's not that good except for endlessly delaying something, but then again, the Knight-Questor isn't that good except for endlessly delaying something.
>>
>>48343493
Pretty much. I use them to outflank and put pressure on wizards and artillery crew.
>>
>>48343567

And make my retributors magically appear. That's by far the best use for them, after they can just fuck off and suicide charge a wizard of something
>>
So if I get the seraphon stater, do I make a scar vet carno, an old look carno Or a trogladon?
>>
So the Relictor, Nomad Prince, Sorceress, Battlemage (Shadow), the Hoarfrost, and the Talisman of Blinding Light together can give a total of -6 to a single model's hit rolls? Did I forget any other -# to hit rolls for Order?
Order is pretty invincible if you manage to stack it right, but I doubt anyone could reasonably pull this off.
>>
>>48343648

Talisman of blinding light barely counts since its against only the model who it's equipped on

So it's merely a -5
>>
>>48343624
get 2 boxes so you can build an oldblood on carnosaur, a troglodon, and an oldblood on foot
>>
>>48343648
Skink Starpriest has a unique spell that can give a -1 Hit penalty to any unit within 20"
>>
>>48343673
the oldblood on foot is better used as a sunblood
>>
>>48343703
except the sunblood is a totally different model

Like two minutes with greenstuff and a hobby knife and that saurus is a sunblood.
>>
>>48343624
Troglodon is crap. Never fucking ever unless you *really* like the model.
Scar-veteran or Oldblood is a matter of taste. If you run max heroes the Oldblood has a delicious command ability, otherwise the Scar-veteran will probably be better.
>>
>>48343840
So if the starter box is all I got because limited funds, scar vet first, with an old blood on food
>>
>>48343717
>except the sunblood is a totally different model
it's a bigass saurus with a shield and club
>>
>>48343878
In fairness it's a very very stylish shield
>>
>>48343870
Yes. If you feel up to it you can also give the guy on foot some scars or gouge out an eye or something to represent a Sunblood, which are damn good.
Also, the Skink Oracle can be mounted in an infantry base as well and makes for a nice Skink Priest.
>>
>>48343840
Eh, I wouldn't call it "crap". It's a 12 wound monster with a 4+ save and your opponent will waste a lot of time trying to kill it.

It can replace an Engine of the Gods in a Thunderquake list, which is great because EOTG is really weak now that summoning costs points.

It has a bravery debuff which stacks well with the Saurus infantry effect.

It can act as a vassal for your Slann Starmaster to cast spells through, allowing you to keep him further away from the frontline. It can also unbind enemy spells.

Not as killy as a Carnosaur but at 200pt it's not a bad monster. I don't know of any other 12W+ model at that point cost.
>>
>>48343945
Ahh so if I still like the old blood more, the scar vet and skink rider can be bashed into good heroes for the old bloods command ability, could even use the trog bits to beef them up visually
>>
Apparently Alan Bligh has finished up the AOS points for the forgeworld stuff. They will release it right along with the general's handbook.

Mourngul here I come!
>>
>>48343913
right, but even the carnosaur's lord has a fancy shield

Sunbloods aren't unique characters like gor rok was. No sense sticking to vun and only vun official miniature.
>>
>>48343309
Thought the lance was supposed to be really good at one shotting monsters
>>
so when something does 2 damage, does than mean it causes two saves or that one failed save causes two unsaved wounds?
>>
>>48344265

One failed save causes two unsaved wounds.
>>
>>48344041
I have yet to see a Forgeworld model that isn't hillariously out of balance in AoS.
>>
>>48344265
it goes like this:

hit roll
wound roll for any hits
save roll for any wounds
check damage to determine how many unsaved wounds are dealt to the unit
ignore wound roll to check if wounds are ignored (must have special ability)
>>
>>48344297

What do you mean by this? There aren't any points for them.
>>
>>48344186

Well kinda, the hammer can be just as good and can be better

A general with legendary fighter, relic blade and using his command trait will do 0.8325 unsaved wounds against a 3+ monster, so 3.33 on average

A general with the same traits and equipment but with a hammer does 1.48 unsaved wounds with D3+1 damage so either 2.96, 4.44 or 5.92 wounds on average.

Hammer still wins out but Lance can skew horrendously if you roll well to wound.
>>
>>48344073
fair, it looks great but I'll probably want more then one so bashing is a good plan
>>
>>48343309
>I like how the Lance looks
i have the same issue but with the sword
the sword was much better in the legacy rules to
>>
>>48344441
Fair nuff
My two cents would be to magnetise the weapons and swap them out for the situation they are free points wise afterall
>>
>>48344801

Don't even have to magnetize, the kit comes with two armored bodies and the wizard too. I have both Lance guy and Not Karl.
>>
Does it still count as "causing a wound" if a special rule causes it to be ignored?
>>
so when I make my sun blood I want to emphasize that name and make the wounds look like its bleeding light, but I don't want it to be mistaken for how some of the fyreslayers bleed gold now
>>
>>48344787

It's not even the swords fault.

The Runefang (assuming that the legacy Empire general still uses the same trait and artifact) does either 2.77, 4.16 or 5.55 damage depending on your D3 roll, which still loses out to the greathammer
And actually oddly enough, everyone beats the actual Karl Franz with the actual Ghal Maraz who only does 2.66 wounds with his own buff(although his buff makes Deathclaw do 2 more attacks so that evens out a bit more)

The more math I do here the more I think the sigmarite greathammer was supposed to be 4+/3+, not 3+/3+
>>
>>48344441
That actually sounds like a fucking amazing deal
Start Collecting Freeguild wen?

Free guild are scary in this. Guard are good, greatswords are good, Demi griffs are scary and the general on griffon is easily in top 3 for generic Heros (foot general is pretty good too)

And yeah I wish we had drawfags

They're probably more viable than Empire was in 8th.
>>
>>48345194
Yup, this has been my experience with the Freeguild as well. You can always just bring Ironweld or Bretonnian artillery to supplement your force
>>
>>48345233

Ironweld or just be a loyal baller and bring an empire cannon. Completely legal, I think RAW though because the cannon itself doesn't have the Free People's tag it can't benefit from on the on foot generals ability but fuck it, still good
>>
>>48345266
yeah you can take a cannon but you could take GOOD artillery instead, like the trebuchet

Theres a bit of a fickled situation with the legacy rules for dwarf miners... no point cost??? is this a typo or is it a special thing because they are an infiltrating unit? im pretty sure its not because its literally the only warscroll ive seen in the entire book with no point cost... if so, how many points do you reakon they are worth for the minimum?
>>
>>48345288

It's not even weird in Free Guild either, they're comprised of Bretonnians survivors too
>>
>>48345299
On the AoS facebook page, they confirmed that as an 'oops' (that's what they called it, i kid you not). They will be releasing a FAQ and errata along with the book upon its release, one feature will be the missing points for miners.
>>
>>48345194
Something im considering trying to do (or at least commissioning) when i get home is an image for the thread like 40kG and HHG have
Current idea is something along the lines of all the settings gods on a sofa, fighting for space with sigmar in the middle doing the facepalm
>>
>>48345369
if thats coming out in a while, how much should i have them be temporarily because they are a big part of my army tactic, standard 120 points for 10?
>>
>>48345377

I put my vote towards having each main faction be represented by some appropriate reaction image and divided by Grand Alliance
>>
>>48345420
the faq and errata should be rleased on the day the book is released, if not a few days later.
