Welcome to the MTG flake/lore thread!

Previously: Same shit as usual, but now there is a owl mom.

Previous thread: >>48224131

Writefagging last time:
There was some stuff, I suggest you go check it out.

REMINDER:

If you want ANYTHING to go in the repo, just summon me. Otherwise I will only put writefagging and sheets in the repo.

Also, I added the blank template to the ALL FLAKESHEETS folder. And the old snowsheets are under "Snowstorm sheets" > "1- ALL FLAKE SHEETS."

To summon me simply say
>OP OP, I SUMMON THEE. PLACE THIS FILE IN THE REPOSITORY.
Unless that's too gay.

I want to do a story with Igan meeting another walker- he's met maybe 1 or 2 others in his time. He's on Innistrad now but because of his Cursemute power he could be on any plane at any time.
>>
>>48242533
Current flakes on Innistrad or probably on Innistrad: Serena, Venn, Revas, Murdock, Spider/Owl Mom, the Cathar, Bavara, and maybe one or two others. Maybe Leon, too. Take your pick.
>>
>>48242572
Speaking of Bavara, I've got a neat update with her coming up.
>>
>>48242572
Belloski could probably be there, taking anything not nailed down for his Innistrad Eldraziout Sale
>>
>>48242572
Vivienna was there until the Dronepack kicked her ass, Domhanrin does pop in from time to time and is psycho enough to try and dominate/control an Eldrazi, and none of my others would really be on Innistrad for any given reason.
>>
>>48242533
Oh, and Myxxzzikt could be anywhere. But my other 3 are off-limits for now.

This crap is getting old. Why do peeps have to shit all over everything? I understand that people don't like the same crap, but that doesn't mean any of you have to act like shitheads. We are all on a thread about the lore of our beloved card game. Try to find common ground and don't trash others for being on uncommon grounds. We all like different things. Accept that and be gracious.

>>48240790
Really old. Really, really old. 2735 AR.
>>
I'm happy to meet any flakes.
>>
Burn. I can do a few stories I think, but Serena and Igan have the most to interact about, from their shared history with Flight Goldnight and Gisela, to Igan's "reprehensible" use of a moonsilver spear. Can't figure out who'd win in a fight, though...

Serena meets Belloski
Belloski tries to sell her genuine (stolen) Avacynian trinkets
Hillarity ensues

As a WR angel might do, under certain outraging circumstances.
>>

Would she know that he stole them? Would she just assume that he did? How would she know that he didn't buy them from someone else or make them himself?

If people remember the fabulous witch sisters I made few threads back, I filled out out a plane sheet for the planar shard they live in. Have to admit, it was pretty fun to imagine what kind of place the maze is.
>>
>>48243379
They are still artifacts of the church that were stolen at some point down the line
>>
>>48243379
Belloski only sells genuine items from across the multiverse. No proxy garbage, only the good stuff. Even if that means looting a few corpses or incinerated churches or making some fresh corpses to loot.
>>
>>48243401
>>48243425
The point I was trying to make is would Serena know or outright assume that they were stolen? Or just have the decency to take Belloski as an honest merchant.
>>
I'm considering making a Harpy/Siren flake. After digging for art (Not as easy as you might think, I'd draw something myself but I can't scan it), I've come to a few possibilities:

1. Bant-colored fluffball. Innocent, pure, and curious. Potential problems are finding a good reason for her spark to ignite, and giving her more reason to exist than "wanting to explore the multiverse".

2. WB Siren that's easily bribed with shiny things. Rather than lure sailors to their death with song, she'd be the type to take their coins for her blessing. The blessing of not drowning them.
Problems are, again, why did she ignite, and what is she doing now? Beyond being a feathery Extort machine, that is.

3. WU Griffin-harpy. Not nearly as physically fluffy as the others, but is still for fluff. A bit sphinx-like, too, probably. Likely a tsundere. Same problems as the others- why and how.

4. Jund harpy. Definitely a bird of prey. Big, sharp claws offset by big, fluffy plumage. Big overall. Probably also a little tsun. Still not sure how she ignites, but she's definitely fond of hunting down prey across the multiverse. I have a few fluffy quirks I can add, so she's probably the top runner so far.

The real question is, does the community have any preference? Feels like it's a bit much to do more than one or two, but sitting on a bunch of ideas is no good, either...
>>
>>48243690
I like the ideas, but didn't we just get a bird lady?
>>
>>48242776
Serena in her current form is pretty damn strong, being an angel has it's advantages.

All right everyone, I hate to disappoint you, but I'm afraid I've made yet another non-lewd story. I know, I know, let the lamentations ring out. Updated flake sheet for a slightly updated and slightly retconned flake. Hope she's worth it.

This time we've got a scary expedition to Nephalia and a brief run-in with Murdock, just on her way back from the annual "worst person on Innistrad" competition, which she ultimately lost to choose either "Nahiri" or "Sorin" here. Better luck next year!

http://pastebin.com/45kkpQZm (Rated PG-13 for weapons, ghosts, and questionable author knowledge of cephalopod anatomy)

I would, but I'm total ass with computer art and I don't have a scanner.
I'm also really rusty as I haven't done much in a couple years now..

Anyway, while I ponder fluffbirb (it'll take some time before I actually get around to her, I imagine), have Vivienna's home plane. I kind of want to make this the first in a cycle of planes, all with "X color is super abundant and bleeds over into everything else", but this is the only one I have a solid idea for.
>>
>>48243977
That's a hydra with harpy bodies instead of heads. If the other anon is willing to drop one of his colors of mana we could have one with Four heads, one for each color triad in that group of four colors.

>I don't have a scanner
Murdock has only scanned in two, MAYBE three pics. All of his other posts were photos of his work. And literally all of Gaia's art has been posted from shitty pics.

That looks way better. Should be mythic rarity, there are two typos in the second ability, "phases" and "counters". I don't know how I feel about phasing, but it doesn't break any rules as far as I know, and it's an interesting idea. The biggest problem I have is that the card doesn't really feel cohesive right now; it doesn't really seem to play together or synergize with itself, and the +1 seems to have little to do with the rest of the card. If the phasing ability is clicking up those loyalty counters, maybe you want to give him a minus instead and come up with a more interesting effect? Just spitballing though.

>>48256631
I was just thinking, where you guys are making custom characters and planes and the like, would you not take that the last step and build cards/a set?
>>
>>48256647
As the guy who makes the OP images, I've had thoughts of making a custom set where every snowflake/homebrew planeswalker gets two cards based around their character, one creature and one non-creature.

That would be a pretty massive project though and I've gradually lost interest in the idea over time due to certain personalities in this thread.

A character that seeks to endure the supernatural without resorting to the supernatural isn't edgy, it's a character that's principled. Whether that comes back to bite him in the ass or not, we'll see. Is he edgy because he would have liked to be Avacyn's slayer? That's not edgy, that's his desire to put down threats to humanity and put humanity first speaking.

Thalia is with the heroes for hire en route to thraben, they find gryffs to fly there, geists buff the cathars and they punch the hell out of the eldrazi-tainted inquisition (srsly tho the inquisition can NEVER take the good side it seems...), olivia steals Thalia's kill and backstabs the leader of the inqusitior, crazy eldrazed chick, Brusela arrives, Sigarda and Brusela start smooching, Thalia and Traft pick up Avacyn's spear and kills Brusela in a paragraph. No named character dies.

I have a lore question.

Yeah, not exactly a sterling start to "innistrad's new protector" if her first act is to get BTFO in five seconds by the Eldrazi and needing a human (even one with a stand) to save her ass.

It gets under my skin, is what it does. In the last block, Ob Nixilis and the Eldrazi were undone in a large part because of a single act of mercy towards an angel none of them or the gatewatch even knew about being repaid in the darkest hour. Linvala and Iona didn't get to contribute to the story at all but that nameless angel, in a sense, saved the day by giving the heroes another chance.

Innistrad, a block that had the best angels, has shit on the notion even the only one they allowed to survive this mess can help. Sigarda literally showed up just to get worfed, like every other angel since AVR.

Really? Why?

How are Innistrad vampires any different from Dominarian vampires or Zendikari vampires?
>>
>>48260223
Innistrad vampires aren't undead. That's the only reason, sparks don't persist through death.
>>
>>48260276
Zendikar vampires aren't undead either, as far as I'm aware.
>>
>>48260276
Oh. Huh.

>Spark doesn't persist through death.
So no mtg Vecna?
But it could be acquired *after* death, no? Karn's spark was actually Urza's spark, right?

So if you extracted your own (or someone else's) spark, and then re-fused with it after becoming undead, would that work?

Would the weatherlight function post-mending?
>>
Can all planeswalkers cast spells?

Are there mages who don't use mana? There are cards depicting rune magic, and blood magic, and ritually sacrificed magic, and sigil tracing magic, do those function differently from the magic planeswalkers use?
>>
>>48260421
It could fly but not planeswalk.
>>
>>48260501
planeswalkers cast spells, and there ARE some spells that require other resources be spent (see altar's reap, vampiric tutor, all phyrexian mana, etc.), so yeah planeswalkers can exist without using mana. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to use mana AND esoteric spells though.
>>
>>48260223
>>48260276
>>48260421
Now, Granny Sengir was a Planeswalker prior to being turned by the Baron. And it's not clear whether or not she lost her spark. So, pre-mending Planeswalkers that were turned into vampires prior to the mending might still retain their spark. We haven't gotten any definitive answers for that.
>>
>>48260421
Yeah, an undead creature could obtain a spark from another.

>>48260345
I'm not sure but I was under the impression they were related to Ulamog, sparks are kinda anathema to Eldrazi.
>>
>>48260543
Would that be a separate school of magic entirely that would need to be learned separately, or would a sacrifice/discard/phyrexian mana cost be a thing any mage could access?

What about different types of magic depicted but not with their own mechanic?
>>
>>48260619
Or put their spark into a phylactery or other magical container before becoming undead?
>>
>>48260543
Can you become a planeswalkers without being a mage?

Once you become a planeswalkers, does that make you also a mage?
>>
>>48260674
If that's possible then sure? I was under the impression using your spark like that was fatal.
>>
>>48260543
I mean... This-ish.

Typically mana is drawn from mana leylines to cast spells, but there are alternative methods to supply the mana needed for casting spells. In theory, you could cast without using any leylines, but you'd have such a resource burden that you wouldn't be able to cast a lot of spells in a short amount of time.

If you're actually able to use Phyrexian mana, then you can, to some extent, cast at the cost of your own life force.
In some examples, you can sacrifice other beings to draw the power needed to cast.
Maybe you have powerful artifacts that let you bring to life or call forth other beings.
Or if you have a powerful enough kind of unity, perhaps you can get others to lend you their power, a Convocation, if you will.

Those are just some examples, but they all require you to rely on something else, and they tend to be very niche and/or limited.
>>
>>48260674
That would probably destroy the spark.
>>
>>48260832
How did Urza's spark get put in Karn, exactly? That's what's giving me this idea.
>>
>>48260759
Could you cast any spell using those alternate mana sources, or only spells designed for them?

>>
>>48260853
Karn got the stones urza's spark(s?) Fused into him when the legacy weapon fired.

>>
>>48260944
>How do llanowar elves produce mana out of nothing?
By turning sideways.
>>
>>48261098
Hmm. Okay.

Post mending, are there any ways other than a spark, to travel between planes? Portals, for instance?

Could you travel through the blind eternities if you could survive there?

How do the eldrazi survive there?

>>48261111
Cheeky.
>>
>>48260944
They draw the mana from their bodies by posing sexually.
>>
>>48261183
No. If planar portals existed, everyone would already be fucked by Phyrexians.
And after the Mending, even planeswalkers can barely protect themselves in the blind eternities.
Eldrazi survive because the blind eternities are their natural habitat.
>>
>>48260703
Basically. Like Gideon, he uses justice magic. It's just magic that suits your ability and personality.
>>
>>48261213
Planeswalkers are still protected post-mending, but now it's not a casual stroll between planes, it takes time and each person experiences something different. While one person may feel like they're falling, another feels like they're wading through mud, and another feels like they're being flung through a vortex of fire.
>>
>>48261262
>It takes time
How much time?

If several planeswalkers go to the same plane, do they all arrive at the same place?
>>
>>48261228
Could you be a BR Planeswalker of Justice?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usR36pAwAaw
>>
>>48261228
So if they couldn't cast spells pre ignition, they can post ignition.

>>48261213
So there is no mentioned way for a non planeswalker to manage interplanar travel.

What about portals between specific planes, that predate the mending, or planes that are otherwise connected in a spot?

If the eldrazi are adapted to the blind eternities, could you study them learn how to accomplish blind eternity adaptation?

Could you use large dead eldrazi parts to build the hull of a blind eternity ship?
>>
>>48261338
all portals opened pre-mending were closed BY the mending.
you couldn't study the eldrazi for blind eternity adaptation, the eldrazi we see don't exist in the blind eternities. The drones are created on-plane, and the Big Three are like "hands reaching into a pond," according to Ugin. The bodies we see aren't the bodies that exist in the BE.
>>
>>48261286
>How much time?
Probably only a few seconds, but enough for them to feel like it takes a while. Distance between planes may also affect it
>If several planeswalkers go to the same plane, do they all arrive at the same place?
Only if they have a location in mind. If it's a new plane, it's a gamble. No they can't planeswalk inside each other or other objects on accident like a teleportation experiment gone wrong
>>48261290
Vigilante justice for your own selfish agenda, probably. Justice is a very W concept, so...
>>48261338
You probably have some magical ability pre-mending. All sparkable creatires seem to, anyways. But yes, igniting means access to other plane's magic and whatever abilities are exclusive to that plane.
>What about portals between specific planes, that predate the mending, or planes that are otherwise connected in a spot?
Mending sealed any plane to plane portals off. Planes that are connected by a point would either split, sealing the point, or merge violently. Example: Alara

Tl;dr about the Eldrazi: No.
>>
>>48261378
Hmm. Okay. I knew what you saw was only part of the eldrazi, didn't realize it was constructed on the plane, thought it was like, dropped in.

So the only way you would be able to travel between planes is if those planes were naturally connected then, yeah? Like at the edge of your plane you can step through into an adjacent plane?
>>
>>48261426
No. You have to go through the BE to get to another plane. Without a spark you'll spaghettify. Alara was fused together from its planar shards(which used to be together until Bolas fuckery and the Mending), and that took massive amounts of mana and left a violent maelstrom of energy at the epicenter.
>>
>>48261416
>Natural planar connections either split, or merge violently.
Oh wow.

So, no way at all possible for a planeswalker to take non walkers with him somewhere else then?
>>
>>48261338
Actually Venser had a machine that did exactly that in Planar Chaos, though Teferi mused that it actually only worked because Venser had a latent spark. He gives it to Jhoira in the end and i am not sure if it still worked for her.
>>
>>48261416
>Vigilante justice for your own selfish agenda, probably.
I was thinking it would be the type of justice that people Need, as opposed to the type of justice they Want. Black is the color or realism and Red is the color of action, after all.
>>
>>48261426
that would work, yeah

I mean, if you want a ship do it. My flakes have a ship, but it's caused a LOT of contention in the thread. If you can find a way to do it that doesn't break the canon, have at it.

>>48261416

>sparks are kinda anathema to Eldrazi
Sparks are the anathema to phyrexians. For all we know Eldrazi are what happens when sparks go off on their own and get too big and reality warping.
That said, Zendikar vampires are the same as Innistrad vampires: Cursed living things. The old snowstorm had this argument before and it died with the Zendikar artbook.

Could you time travel somewhen pre-mending, portal/group planeswalk/planarship to your intended location, and then time travel back to the present?
>>
>>48261507
I must have misunderstood then. I know planeswalkers are more resistant to the effects of the Eldrazi, I guess that comes from the shared relation or maybe how the spark protects the bearer from the Blind Eternities it also protects them from the beasts that live there?

Didn't know that about Zendikar vampires though.
>>
>>48261507
>mtg Zendikar art book
>Mtg art book
Anybody have scans of those?
>>
>>48261549
time travel was, for the most part, also nixed post-mending.

the only reason the Tarkir thing worked (from what I understand) is that a time-portal-thing was set up using Ugin's spirit (thought: maybe his spark in timeline A was used to fuel it? maybe by sacrificing a spark you can time travel, albeit one-way) to help him survive, and that Sarkhan going through it completed a time loop.
>>
>>48261549
It was a small teleporter made with scraps from the phyrexian invasion. Well, actually it did not teleport but it moved you to the BE and then back to the plane. Venser of course had no idea of other planes existing so he only used it to move through dominaria.

It's only fair. Mix in some fucking pissed and you get WR.
>>
>>48261544
If they believe that they are doing it for other people, it's white.

Any sort of philosophy that is motivated by what's good and right for other people is a philosophy with basis in white, even if they're a self-obsessed vigilante with no respect for the law.

A black-red vigilante would be causing trouble for reasons related to personal gain, self-advancement, emotional whimsy and impulses and the preservation of personal freedoms, preferably their own. Basically, some sort of libertarian Batman.

>>
>>48261710
I think the only way for a BR flake to be a vigilante is for it to be complete coincidence. A person who is both black/red and a murderer is someone who is most likely to kill people who get in their way or otherwise somehow upset them, and doesn't need much provocation to do it. If the people who get in their way also happen to be criminals, then you've got your accidental vigilante. I think the best you can do is a guy whose agenda at no point requires him to kill innocent bystanders. Unless they're at the wrong place at the wrong time or something.

They're doing their own thing, it just happened to look heroic so everyone treats them like such.

Conscious improvement falls primarily in the domain of blue while natural growth falls primarily in the domain of green.

>"You stood in the way of progress, and for that you shall be punished."
This really depends on what transgression the person being talked to is responsible of.
If they're stopping a piece of key research or a massive scientific breakthrough, that's totally blue and green isn't involved.
If they're interrupting the natural growth of something or a group of somethings, that's totally green and blue isn't involved.
If it's more complex than that, like an elaborate social experiment that has been going on for aeons that is being interrupted, then it could be depicted as blue-green. But it needs to be very specific fusion of natural progression and conscious improvement.

See, you're thinking in monoG terms while the anon who posted first and myself are thinking in Blue+Green terms.
The evolution of something both naturally developing and artificially caused is very much the UG mindset.

See: The entire Simic guild
>>
>>48262165
It's still thoroughly dependent on the sort of progress that the vigilante is vehemently defending. To say that any sort of progress falls under the domain of both blue and green at the same time is disingenuous.

The way it's worded sounds very much like an improvement to their self. A 'natural' evolution of their potential abilities. It sounds like Simic's idea of progress, not just blue's.

Can someone explain the cards on these sheet to me?
>>
>>48262337
They're the sorts of magic that a character would use.
>>
>The strong rule and the weak serve.
>Those that lack the strength to rule die. Those that lack the weakness to serve rise.
>Strength of body shall decide your place in the world. Strength of mind shall decide how you excel at it. Strength of will shall decide if you rise from it.
>The weak provide for the needs of the strong. Such is their place in the world. It is the place of the strong to rise to perfection.
>Strength is paramount and those that are perfect have strength beyond strength, power beyond power.
>There is no strength without trial. The strong become weak without competition. Only that which is perfect endures forever.
>On the path to greatness, the strong produce great wonders of science and culture to display their strength.
>Tradition and progress.
>Power through knowledge.
>Acceptance through opportunity.
>Perfection through growth.

Ana forever.

You mean why the cards, or why those specific cards?
>>
>>48262519
The ones that aren't equipment, what are they for?
>>
>>48262568
They are spells the character in question knows how to cast.
>>
>>48262568
They are supposed to represent the kind if spells the flake is more likely to use or those that represent her background and knowledge the most.
>>
>>48262581
Gotcha.

Do you guys have a character creation system you use for this, or just make shit up and pick as many cards as you like?
>>
>>48262603
Make shit up for your character, follow the lore of what you're using and don't flood the sheet with card. If they're spells from a block, try to involve your character from that block at somepoint. For instance, your character shouldn't have mirran spells/artifacts if they've never been there.

Speaking of flakesheets, here's a slightly changed version of the one I posted earlier.

I figured Engulf the Shore + Scion tokens didn't really make any sense.
>>
>>48262603
No specific character creation. A few basic guidelines though, with no hard rules:
>Going over ten cards is a bit too much. Try to keep them legible, so we're able to tell what cards you use. Also, the smaller the number, the easier is to decipher how they fight. The more cards you include, the more muddled and mixed up the character seems.
>Artifacts should be what your character carries from plane to plane. So, no large stationary objects that couldn't feasibly be transported.
>Spells should preferably share the same colors as your character. As an extension of this, your character's colors should be dictated by their personality first and foremost, not by the spells that they use.
>Try to stick to as few legendary creatures as possible. The most common consensus around here is that the less connection your character has with important canon characters, the better.
>Try to stick to a specific theme with your cards. If you put a Splinter Twin combo in your spell section, try to justify why your character knows that, how they use it and why it fits their personality and their method of fighting. Don't just pile on goodstuff spells that are unconnected to the character, theme should come first.
>Most importantly, these are just guidelines. Do whatever the fuck you want, we've got no authority over you.
>>
>>48262668
Also, I recommend that you don't use the extra long backstory version. If you can't fit it in a box, cut the chaff and try again.
>>
>>48262695

Would it be considered bad form to make a custom sheet?
>>
So, a library represents a planeswalkers capabilities and spells known, as well as mana bonds and the like.

Is there any fluff that represents the limited access you have to your library any given point, or is that solely in the card game?
>>
>>48262994
your hand represents how many ideas you have. It's not so much that you're limited from the rest of your powers, as it is the idea didn't occur to you yet to use a power not in your hand, but when you draw it it does.
>>
>>48262971
Nope, some people (one in particular) do it for every flake they make. If you think you'll make something good, go ahead and show off. Just try to convey the same basic information - what colors the character is, a basic biography and what sort of Magic cards represent the character well and what theme fits it.
>>
>>48263098
Then why don't I automatically and immediately think of the obvious solution spell I know to fix whatever problem is at hand?
>>
>>48263408
why do some people trip over their own feet?
sometimes brains are dumb
>>
>>48263408
You didn't tutor for it ;^)
>>
>>48263098
Not saying you're wrong, but that's not a very satisfying explanation of the game mechanic in the fluff because of >>48263408.

I always thought there was some sort of inherent chaos factor limiting which magic the mtg mages had access to from what they knew, at a given moment, to explain why despite (when you know the removal spell - or whatever - you need) you only have it in your hand a small fraction of the time.
>>
>>48262817
And we don't like it HOOT, do we?
>>
>>48263511
And that tutoring want just "not being retarded" but actually learning spells which you (again, randomly due some kind of chaos effect) have access to in order to get access to a specific kind of spell that you need for the situation at hand, despite the chaos effect.
>>
>>48262994
There is an inherent clash because the human mind does not work like a deck of cards. It's dissonance between the narrative and the mechanics of the game.

Your library is the totality of your mind, your hand is your conscious mind and your present thoughts and that's where it ends. Does it work perfectly? No, but those are the themes we've got and the themes that we work with. There's no need to invent ideas like 'inherent chaos factors,' we know what we've been told and we also know that there's always going to be a divide between mechanics and flavor. Sometimes, certain interactions can't be explained.

Why can't I just think of the spell I need, therefore moving it into my hand from my library? Why do I need a tutor spell for that?
Why do we politely take turns to fight each other, only interrupting each other with very specific spells that arbitrarily can be cast faster than other spells?
Why can't I just hit the other planeswalker with a sword?
>>
>>48263615
>Why can't I just hit the other planeswalker with a sword?
This is the one that always stood out to me, especially whenever I thought of anything involving Gideon.
>>
>>48264313
Gideon uses fucking cloth hand whips. Like, they're not even tough leather. He just kinda swings them at stuff and uses his Lawful Good magic to hurt it. Like, shit, why doesn't he use a sword or an actual fucking whip?
>>
>>48260674
This isn't possible, because no one can find the spark. And believe me, Yawgmoth tried. We don't talk about Karn.
>>
>>48261485
Yeah, but black does not give a fuck about the concept of justice. Neither black nor red care about equality, because neither black nor red care about people as a group. They can care about individuals, but as soon as you start caring about large groups of people, you're dealing with green or white or maaaaaybe blue. Justice is not a concept that really makes sense when you don't engage with thinking things about large groups of people.
>>
>>48263615
>Why do we politely take turns to fight each other, only interrupting each other with very specific spells that arbitrarily can be cast faster than other spells?
>Why can't I just hit the other planeswalker with a sword?

>A variant mtg format with concurrent turns and the ability to attack with your planeswalker directly.
This sounds like an interesting format I would enjoy playing time to time.
>>
I'm tempted to make a flake. It'll be a shit flake. But a flake nonetheless. Some sort of planeswalking stitcher who gathers body parts from creatures from other planes to create Skaabs with or something.
>>
>>48264832

>only silver could pass through temporal energies unharmed.
So how did Sarkhan time travel exactly?
>>
>>48264875
It's never been sufficiently explained. The likeliest explanation is that Tarkir, as a plane, has properties differing from the rest of the Multiverse with regards to time travel, just as Theros has properties different with regards to the gods and the underworld.

Stahp

I was literally going to make that flake.

Named the Sticher. That was literally something I was working on, like, 5 minutes ago.
>>
>>48264488
Actually, those are very thin strips of metal, believe it or not. Gideon's weapon is a sural, based off the Indian Urumi weapon
>>
>>48264832
>>48265208
Though, my Sticher was going to be a being that went around killing people and gathering body parts it liked, and replacing its own parts with them. Kind of like jeepers creepers or something.
>>
>>48265255
I think the right wording is "Kaya's plaything".
>>
>>48265208

Oh god this is awkward.

I don't know what to do now. The struggle is real.
>>
>>48265315
Do them both. And then try to outstitch each other.
>>
>>48265255
>>48265315
Honestly, those are probably different enough to be separate flakes, as long as they don't have the same plane of origin. Besides, it's not as if we don't have an entire group called "stitchers" on Innistrad; it's not that uncommon.
>>
>>48265315
Kek. Go ahead and make your thing. It's all good. Your guy stitches other parts together to make skaabs. My gal stitches other parts onto her/himself for reasons. They're different enough.

That all depends. Western and eastern smithing are totally different. You have to start by figuring out what kind of blade it is and the origin. Then read up on the techniques used there in that period.
